Prineville Shooting Leaves One Dead

PRINEVILLE, OR -- Members of the Central Oregon Major Crimes Team are investigating a fatal weekend shooting. Just before 4 p.m. Sunday, Prineville Police, Crook County deputies and medics, and State Police Troopers responded to the report of a man shot in the 900 block of NW Second,  which is near Meadow Lakes Drive.  The victim died at the scene.

 

Investigators are questioning a person in connection with the incident. They say that subject and the victim knew each other and there is no danger to the public, although they refused to release further details.

MONDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: Prineville Police are releasing more details of a fatal weekend shooting. According to investigators, 56-year-old Kenneth McBeth was shot and killed outside a home on NW Second Street. They say McBeth knew the man who lived in the house and the two got into an altercation Sunday afternoon. The man who allegedly fired the shot has been questioned and was released pending the outcome of the investigation. Multiple search warrants are being served and the State Police Crime Lab is assisting with evidence collection.
