(Portland, OR)  --  Former Oregon Governor Vic Atiyeh is dead at age 91.  A family spokesperson says Atiyeh died around 8:15 last night at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland after suffering from complications of renal failure.  Atiyeh, who was a Republican, served as governor from 1979 to 1987 and steered Oregon through a severe recession in the early 1980s.  Current Governor John Kitzhaber says Atiyeh was a "mentor and a friend."
