(Portland, OR) -- The Portland and Multnomah County councils are considering the adoption of a policy to oppose oil and coal exports through the area. A draft revision of the joint Climate Action Plan is intended to make it difficult for permits or facilities to be obtained for any oil or coal export projects. Officials say the policy is being considered for purposes of protecting residents' safety and the environment. The proposal is slated for a vote by the Portland Planning and Sustainability Commission on April 7th.
