Portland Cop Accused Of Skirting Parking Fees

(Portland, OR)  --  A Portland police officer is the subject of an internal investigation after being accused of avoiding downtown parking fees.  The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office alleges that Officer James Escobar covered the VIN number on his personal vehicle and drove around without license plates to avoid the parking fees.  The D.A.'s office says Escobar committed the acts while off-duty and paid more than a thousand dollars in fines, which is why criminal charges won't be pursued.  The matter is being investigated by the Portland Police Bureau's Internal Affairs Division.
