BEND, OR -- Bend City Councilor Chris Piper is running for the office he was appointed to when Sally Russell became Mayor. Piper says a high priority for him is affordable housing. He says the council has set a goal of 3-thousand housing units to include single family, duplex and triplex housing. Piper was asked if Bend can build its way out of the housing problem. He says he thinks we can, but it won’t be easy nor quick due to the years when not much housing was built.
