(Astoria, OR) -- The federal government is restoring funding for a major hospital project in Astoria, one year after President Trump revoked the funding. FEMA has restored 20-million-dollars in funding for a major project at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria. In 2023, FEMA approve a BRIC grant to construct a hospital that would withstand a tsunami. Generators and a helipad would be located on the roof, so the building would have power, even if a tsunami hit below. Last year, the Trump Administration cancelled the money. The restoration of the funds will allow construction to continue. The building will be able to accommodate 19-hundred people in the event of a tsunami.
