Winterhawks
The Portland Winterhawks are preparing for Saturday's home opener after starting their season with a 3-2 overtime victory against the defending WHL champion Everett Silvertips. Portland hosts the Kamloops Blazers at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, where fans will see a new video board and sound system as part of a 50-million dollar renovation. The Winterhawks have reached the playoffs in 15 consecutive seasons and are seeking their first league championship since 2013. Saturday's game begins at 6 p.m.
