COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
Oregon State opened Pac-12 play with a blowout win Saturday at Colorado State.
Quarterback Braden Atkinson threw for 427 yards and five touchdowns, and stand-out freshman wide receiver Jesse Legree caught three of them.
The Beavers 56-26 puts them at 3-2 overall, and 1-0 in the Pac-12.
Head coach JaMarcus Shephard talking to the media after the game, “Thought this was a great way to start off our conference schedule I'm really happy overall. I talked to our team about being shocking, shocking in terms of the speed that we played at how physical we were and how competent we were and how what we were supposed to execute on this game day.”
Oregon State returns home to face San Diego State this Saturday afternoon.
Oregon moved up to number 13 in the latest Associated Press and Coaches Top 25 polls coming out of their bye this week.
The Ducks face UCLA this Saturday. The 4-0 Bruins moved into number 21 in the AP poll.

The Trail Blazers’ first pre-season games are this week.
Head coach Micah Nori said to members of the media last week he’s not sure having Ja Morant and Damian Lillard both starting fits into the defensive game plan but will be experimenting with line-ups during exhibition games.
Portland plays Golden State Wednesday.
COLLEGIATE FALL CLASSIC:
Washington’s bats fired early and often, leading the Huskies to a 12–8 win over Oregon Saturday in the inaugural Northwest Collegiate Classic presented by the Thomas Family Auto Group. The game was played at Historic Vince Genna Stadium in Bend, with a near-capacity crowd on hand under clear, spectacular Central Oregon skies.
