(Portland, OR) -- The Shell icebreaker "Fennica" is on its way to the Arctic after law-enforcement personnel cleared the St. Johns Bridge of Greenpeace protesters. Yesterday, police carefully removed three of the 13 protesters who had rappelled from the bridge earlier this week and dangled in the air to block the path of the vessel. Removal of the three left enough room for the vessel to make its departure. The Fennica arrived in Portland for repairs days ago and is on its way to an oil-drilling assignment in the Arctic.
