(Tampa, FL)  --  The Seattle Mariners are looking for a sweep after defeating Tampa Bay in ten innings, 7-6.  Kyle Seager hit two home runs in the game, including a grand slam that gave Seattle a three-run lead in the eighth.  The Rays rallied to tie the game, but Seager slammed the game-winner in the tenth.  Seattle and Tampa Bay will wrap up their three-game series today.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon Ducks are adding Notre Dame transfer Matt Hegarty to their offensive line.  Hegarty underwent surgery in December 2012 to repair two undetected holes in his heart that he'd had since birth.  He recovered and appeared in 12 games in 2013 for the Irish before starting 11 of 13 games in 2014 at either guard or center.

(Nashville, TN)  --  Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota experienced an up-and-down first day of organized team activities for the Tennessee Titans in Nashville.  Head coach Ken Whisenhunt says Mariota had some good, some bad plays in practice.  The Heisman Trophy winner threw an interception and lost a fumble.  Tennessee selected Mariota second overall in the 2015 NFL Draft.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portlanders will have a chance to see Marcus Mariota's Heisman Trophy up close.  The award will be on display at the Oregon Historical Society in downtown Portland for three days, from June 5th through the 7th.  Mariota, who was picked second overall by Tennessee in this year's NFL Draft, is the first Oregon Duck to win the coveted Heisman Trophy.  Admission to the museum will be free during the three days the Heisman is on display, with Nike donating sponsorship.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers will square off with the Seattle Sounders in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup.  The two soccer clubs meet on June 16th at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington for the 2015 Lamar Hunt Cup.  The Timbers and Sounders are the only MLS teams that must face an MLS opponent in their opening U.S. Open Cup game this year.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Trail Blazers big man LaMarcus Aldridge is being named to the All-NBA Second Team.  Aldridge, the free agent-to-be received 390 total votes, and 13 First-Team votes.  Despite tearing a ligament in his thumb, the 29-year-old averaged a career-best 23.4 points per game for the Blazers.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon sophomore Jasmine Todd is the Pac-12 Track and Field women's athlete of the year.  Todd won the triple jump and placed second in the long jump at last weekend's Pac-12 Track and Field Championships.  She also won the 100 meters and placed fourth in the 200 while leading the Ducks to their seventh consecutive Pac-12 title.

(Eugene, OR)  --  University of Oregon alum Bob Sanders is donating six-million-dollars more to complete the Jane Sanders Stadium project.  The donation comes after receiving an initial donation of 10-million from Sanders to build a new softball stadium honoring his late wife Jane.  The Oregon athletics department started fundraising to meet the estimated project total of 16.5-million approved by the UO Board of Trustees in February.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard and Adidas are releasing a special edition of the star's shoes.  Lillard tweeted a photo of D Lillard 1 shoes that match the pattern of a PDX Carpet.  The pattern is apparently popular among sneaker collectors.  Lillard introduced his first signature shoe with Adidas earlier this year.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Utah State quarterback Darell Garretson says he's transferring to Oregon State.  Garretson will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Beavers after he sits out for a year, in accordance with NCAA rules.  The six-foot, 200-pound junior, who received his release from Utah State in April, told the "Oregonian" he plans to walk on in hopes of competing for a scholarship at Oregon State.  Garretson passed for eleven-hundred-40 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions in five games for the Aggies last season.

(Renton, WA)  --  Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jesse Williams is scheduled to undergo kidney surgery, after being diagnosed with papillary type 2 cancer.  The Seahawks haven't released any further details.  Williams, who's a reserve lineman, says he's going to focus on his health and fighting the battle with a return to football as his ultimate goal.  Williams is entering his third NFL season after playing his college ball at Alabama.

(Nashville, TN)  --  Former Oregon Ducks quarterback, now Tennessee Titan Marcus Mariota is already developing a bond with one of his new teammates.  ESPN.com reports Mariota and second-round pick, wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham, already text frequently.  The wideout says he told Mariota "every time you're in the weight room, make sure you bring me."

(Portland, OR)  --  The University of Portland is parting ways with head baseball coach Chris Sperry.  The Pilots finished the 2015 season 12-and-42 overall.  Sperry ends his time at UP with a 347-601-and-1 record in 18 seasons.  Athletic director Scott Leykam says the Pilots would begin a national search for a new baseball coach immediately.

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers big man and free agent to be LaMarcus Aldridge is on the road to recovery following successful thumb surgery.  He tore a ligament in his left thumb in January and opted to play through it the rest of the season.  Aldridge still managed to score a career-high 23.4 points in 71 games this season for the Blazers.  The 29-year-old is set to hit the free agent market this offseason.  The Chicago Bulls selected Aldridge second overall in the 2006 NBA Draft, but he has played all nine NBA seasons with Portland following a draft day trade.

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Oregon Ducks swept their first Pac-12 series of the season over the weekend at Utah.  The Ducks beat the Utes 5-1 on Sunday for their sixth straight win overall.  They are now 34-and-22.  Oregon faces rival Oregon Sate tomorrow in Corvallis in a non-conference affair before closing out the regular season at home against UCLA this weekend.

(Renton, WA)  --  Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin says he'll be playing for the Atlanta Falcons in 2016.  The Seahawks recently declined to pick up Irvin's fifth-year option for 2016, meaning he'll be an unrestricted free agent after the 2015 season.  Irvin told "Black Sports Online" he wants to play for the Falcons after his Seattle contract expires.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The severe knee injury former Oregon star cornerback Ifo Ekre-Olomu suffered during Rose Bowl practice is to blame for his slide in the NFL Draft.  ESPN.com reports he projected as a potential first-round pick before requiring major reconstructive surgery.  The Browns eventually selected him with the 241st pick in the seventh round.  Ekre-Olomu should receive three-million-dollars from an insurance policy that Oregon took out to guard against him falling out of the top three rounds.
 

(Powder Springs, GA)  --  Five-star defensive tackle Julian Rochester is placing Oregon in his top 10 of schools he would attend.  The 6-foot-5, 322-pound interior lineman Tweeted out his list, including Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Louisville, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Oregon and USC as his first nine choices.  The Georgia-native racked up an impressive 88 tackles and 11 sacks from the middle of the defensive line last season.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State University athletics director Bob De Carolis is stepping down.  De Carolis says his resignation will be effective June 30th, one year before his contract is scheduled to expire.  De Carolis was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2011, but an OSU athletic department spokesman says health was not a factor in his decision to resign.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews is continuing his recovery from a season-ending ruptured Achilles'.  Matthews is having his walking boot removed that he has worn while recovering from the surgery on March 11th to repair the injury.  Matthews transitioned from a post-surgery cast to the walking boot on April 16th, also ahead of schedule by five days.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State ace Andrew Moore is making the cut for the Golden Spikes Award.  Moore is one-of-30 players on the watch list for the award, which honors the nation's top college baseball player.  The junior right-hander is 4-and-2 with a 1.98 ERA this season.  He leads the conference with a .191 opposing batting average, and he is second in innings pitched and strikeouts.

(Portland, OR)  --  Oregon State and University of Portland are partnering to bring the Far West Classic basketball tournament back to Portland.  The 2015-16 Far West Classic Invite, a two-day doubleheader that will run December 18th and 19th at the Moda Center.  On December 18th  the Pilots will face Weber State before the Beavers play Cal State Fullerton.  The next day will feature Portland against the Titans, and then OSU against Tulsa.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Ducks freshman center Jordan Bell is on the road to recovery.  Bell underwent successful surgery to repair a broken foot.  It is not known how Bell broke his foot, or the severity.  Oregon head coach Dana Altman expects Bell to be ready in time for next season.

(Oregon City, OR)  --  Oregon City High School standout Trevon Bradford is committing to Oregon State football.  Bradford took to Twitter announce his decision.  The wide receiver and kick return specialist is listed as high as the eighth-ranked prospect in the state.  OSU has four commitments in the class of 2016.

(Beaverton, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers look to get offensive in their upcoming road match at Montreal.  The Timbers have been shut out in their last two contests, and have not scored in 191 minutes.  Portland is 2-4-and-4 on the MLS season.  The Impact is slow out of the gates at 0-2-and-2 overall.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Winterhawks forward Oliver Bjorkstrand is the Western Hockey League's Player of the Year.  Bjorkstrand becomes the third player in team history to win the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy.  He led all WHL players with 63 goals and 118 points during the regular season.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State scored five runs in the third to cruise past Oregon 10-2 in non conference action from Corvallis.  The two teams played their mandatory three-game set back in April which counted for Pac-12 standings.  Billy King and KJ Harrison each plated three runs in the win while Jeff Hendrix collected two RBI.  Sam Tweedt picked up the win with five-and-two-thirds innings and allowing two unearned runs.  Josh Graham took the loss after allowing seven runs in three-and-two-thirds.  Jakob Goldfarb had four hits and an RBI in the setback.

(Undated)  --  The Ducks head to Washington State on Friday for a three-game set over the weekend.  Oregon has dropped two straight and are 9-and-12 in Pac-12 play.  Oregon State will welcome Utah to town this weekend for three games beginning at 5:35 on Friday.  The Beavers are in fifth place at 12-and-9.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Two Beavers from the women's basketball team will have an opportunity to play at the National level.  Center Ruth Hamblin and guard Jamie Weisner have been invited to the Canadian Women's National Team's Phase One tryout as announced by Team Canada.  The 22-player tryout and training camp runs from May 10th to the 24th in Edmonton.  Following camp, the team will play in Europe for six-games.

(Renton, WA)  --  Wide receiver Jermaine Kearse will remain with the Seattle Seahawks for at least another year.  SeattlePI.com reports the restricted free agent has signed his tender offer, worth more than two-point-three-million dollars.  Under the terms of the offer extended in March, Seattle would have gotten a second-round draft pick as compensation if another team signed him to a contract and the Seahawks chose not to match it.  Kearse had a career-high 38 receptions for 537 yards and a touchdown last season.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  The series is even between Seattle and Los Angeles, after a 5-4 win by the Angels.  Carlos Perez had a home run in the ninth inning to end the game.  Mike Zunino had two RBI, and Kyle Seager and Dustin Ackley each had one for the M's.  The Mariners and Angels will wrap up their three-game series tonight.
 

(Montreal, Quebec)  --  The Timbers are north of the border on Saturday when they take on the Montreal Impact.  Portland was shutout for the second consecutive match on Saturday in a nil-nil draw with Vancouver.  The Timbers are 2-3-and-4 on the season and in seventh place in the Western Conference.
 

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State football player Dashon Hunt is hanging up his cleats due to a spinal condition.  Hunt posted on Instagram he is being forced to retire because of the rare medical condition.  He was born with spinal stenosis, which is a narrowing of the spine.  It's a condition similar to what prompted Florida's Rod Johnson to step away from the game three weeks ago.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Thunder are reassigning defensive back Quincy Butler after he threw his helmet into the stands and struck a female fan.  The team calls Butler's conduct detrimental to the team and the Portland Thunder organization.  He was given a personal foul and ejected during the team's loss in Philadelphia.  After conversations with officials, he flung his helmet in frustration.
 

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon Ducks are getting early respect in the latest ESPN college football rankings.  The Ducks check in at number-three in ESPN.com's post-spring Top 25 poll.  Oregon is ranked behind number-one Ohio State, which defeated the Ducks in the first College Football Playoff national championship, and number-two TCU.

(South Jordan, UT)  --  Four-star defensive lineman recruit Langi Tuifua is naming Oregon his leading candidate of schools he wants to attend.  He had an unofficial visit during the Ducks' spring game on Saturday.  He also has an offer from Oregon State.  Tuifua considers himself part of a package deal with fellow Bingham High School star defensive tackle Jay Tufel.
 

(Chicago, IL)  --  Meanwhile Oregon State had five players picked in the NFL Draft.  Quarterback Sean Mannion and cornerback Steven Nelson both went in the third round to the St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs respectively.  Defensive end Obum Gwacham and safety Ryan Smith-Murphy were both drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the final two rounds.  Linebacker D.J. Alexander was a fifth round pick to Kansas City.

(Chicago, IL)  --  Oregon had five players selected in the 2015 NFL Draft when it was all said and done.  Highlights include quarterback Marcus Mariota going second overall to the Tennessee Titans and defensive lineman Arik Armstead being picked 17th overall by the San Francisco 49ers.  Others included offensive tackle Jake Fisher being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round and cornerback Ifo Ekpre- =Olomu going in the seventh round to the Cleveland Browns.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers played the Vancouver Whitecaps to a nil-nil draw at Providence Park on Saturday.  Portland now sits at 2-3-and-4 on the year after the tie.  The Timbers hit the road this weekend to face the Montreal Impact.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Winterhawks' season came to an end with an 8-4 loss to the Rockets in Game Six of the Western Conference Finals from the Moda Center.  Chase De Leo scored two goals and assisted on another and Layne Viveiros lit the lamp as well.  Adin Hill gave up six goals on 39 shots in the season-ending loss.

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  The Thunder dropped their third straight game losing to the Soul 52-35 in Philadelphia.  Kyle Rowley tossed for 169 and four touchdowns and Jared Perry finished with 74 yards and caught a pair of TDs as Portland dropped to 2-and-4.  The Thunder are off this week and will take on the LA Kiss on May 16th.
 

(Chicago, IL)  --  Defensive end Arik Armstead was the second Oregon Duck selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.  The San Francisco 49ers selected Armstead 17th overall.  He started all 13 games he played in during 2014 season, recording 46 tackles and two and-a-half sacks.

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Tennessee Titans selected former Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota second-overall in the 2015 NFL Draft.  Despite several rumors, the Titans say they are holding onto Mariota.  The Heisman Trophy winner passed for more than four-thousand-yards and 40 touchdowns, leading Oregon to the National Championship Game against Ohio State.

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Former Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly offered a King's Ransom in order to try and draft his former quarterback.  NFL Network reports Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles offered a package that included two first-round picks, a third-round pick, defensive lineman Fletcher Cox, cornerback Brandon Boykin, linebacker Mychal Kendricks, and quarterback Sam Bradford.  The Tennessee Titans did not bite, and selected Mariota second-overall.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Thunder head to the city of "Brotherly Love" tomorrow to face the Philadelphia Soul.  The Thunder fell to 2-and-3 overall with a 64-45 loss to the San Jose SaberCats.  The Soul is undefeated at 5-and-0.  Kickoff from Philly tomorrow at 3:00.

(Kelowna, British Columbia)  --  The Portland Winterhawks are on the road tonight for Game Five with the Kelowna Rockets in their Western Conference Finals.  The Rockets tied the series at 2-2 with a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night in Portland.  Puck drops at 7:05.
