D'Ernest Johnson rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown as Cleveland took down Denver 17-14 at home on Thursday Night Football. Case Keenum threw for 199 yards and a touchdown for the Browns, who move to 4-and-3. Teddy Bridgewater threw for two touchdowns and an interception in defeat. Denver is 3-and-4.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Chris Taylor is keeping the Dodgers postseason hopes alive. Taylor mashed three home runs to lead Los Angeles to an 11-2 win over the Braves in Game Five of the NLCS. The infielder became the first player in MLB postseason history to hit three homers in an elimination game. A. J. Pollock also had a big game with two home runs and four RBI. The Dodgers now trail the series 3-2. Freddie Freeman drove in both of Atlanta's runs with a two-run bomb in the first.

(Houston, TX) -- The Astros are looking to close out the ALCS tonight. Houston returns home after winning two straight games over the Red Sox on the road. The Astros are placing their World Series aspirations in the hands of rookie pitcher Luis Garcia. Opposite him with be Nathan Eovaldi for Boston, which now trails the series 3-2. The Red Sox plated only three total runs in the last two games of the series.

(Undated) -- Another exciting week of college football is on tap as Week Eight rolls through. Fourth-ranked Alabama will be at home when it hosts Tennessee on Saturday. Second-ranked Oklahoma will look to keep rolling as it visits Kansas. Third-ranked Cincinnati will also be on the road for a battle against Navy. Ninth-ranked Oklahoma State will look to be up for the challenge on the road against Iowa State.

(Kansas City, KS) -- The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs continue on Sunday. The Cup Series rolls into Kansas Speedway for the Hollywood Casino 400. Framber Valdez earned the victory after allowing just one run over eight innings. Yordan Alvarez got the Astros on the board first with a solo home run in the second inning. Alvarez added a couple more runs for Houston in the sixth as part of a five-run inning.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Braves are inching closer to a trip to the World Series. Atlanta beat the Dodgers 9-2 in Game Four of the NLCS to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. Eddie Rosario again starred for the Braves, homering twice and driving in four runs. His three-run blast in the ninth broke the game open. Atlanta used six pitchers and limited Los Angeles to only four hits. Julio Urias struggled for the Dodgers, surrendering five runs in five innings. Game Five is tonight in LA.

Game Four is tonight.

(Boston, MA) -- The Astros evened the ALCS at two games apiece after a win in Game Four. Houston scored seven times with two outs in the ninth inning to escape Fenway Park with a 9-2 win over the Red Sox. Jose Altuve hit a game-tying home run in the eighth inning and Michael Brantley broke the game open with a bases clearing double in the ninth.  Game Five is scheduled for Wednesday in Boston.

(Portland, OR) -- If you thought you'd see Damian Lillard in a different jersey soon, think again. Lillard said Tuesday that he is not leaving or planning to leave the Trail Blazers. He said that he wasn't going run from adversity when it comes along and added that it's "an easy thing and a popular thing for people to say, but it's not gonna happen." There had speculation this offseason that Lillard could ask for a trade but it doesn't appear like that will happen soon.

The Dodgers hedge their playoff hopes on Walker Buehler, who makes his third start of the postseason. Opposite him is Charlie Morton for the Braves. The series shifts to LA after the first two games were played in Atlanta.

(Pullman, WA) -- Nick Rolovich is being terminated from his head football coaching position at Washington State University. Rolovich refused to get vaccinated for COVID-19, which is a requirement for all state employees in Washington, and is no longer the Cougars head coach as a result. Multiple unvaccinated Wazzu assistant coaches are out as well. ESPN reports that defensive coordinator Jake Dickert is expected to be named the interim head coach. Washington instituted a COVID-19 vaccine mandate in August and Monday was the deadline to get vaccinated. The Cougars went 5-and-6 in Rolovich's tenure as head coach.

(Eugene, OR) -- Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead will be back on the sidelines this weekend. Moorhead had emergency surgery right before the Ducks road loss to Stanford and has been recovering ever since. He operated the offense from the press box in Oregon's win over Cal on Friday, and will continue to call plays in the Ducks road game against UCLA on Saturday.

Also of note, Eastern Washington quarterback Eric Barriere threw for 600 yards and seven touchdowns in their 71-21 win over Idaho.

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- The Seahawks fought hard without Russell Wilson, but lost to the Steelers 23-20 in overtime in Pittsburgh. TJ Watt had two sacks in overtime, one that pushed Seattle out of field goal range and another that caused Geno Smith to fumble deep in Seahawks territory. That fumble led to a game-winning 37-yard field goal from Chris Boswell. Watt had a monster day with two sacks, three tackles for loss and three passes defensed. Smith played fairly well in his first start of the season with 209 passing yards and a touchdown. Alex Collins carried the Seahawks rushing attack with 101 yards and a touchdown. Seattle dropped to 2-and-4.

(Cumberland, GA) -- For a second straight night, the Braves are walking off with a win in the NLCS. Eddie Rosario hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to help the Braves beat the Dodgers 5-4 in Game Two. Atlanta takes a 2-0 series lead as it got a walk-off victory in back-to-back games. Will Smith was the winning pitcher for the Braves, which trailed 4-2 before tying things even in the eighth. Brusdar Graterol was the losing pitcher for Los Angeles, though Kenley Jansen surrendered the game-winning hit. Corey Seager hit a two-run homer for the Dodgers.

Fox had a strong day from the field, while Richaun Holmes tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. LeBron James led Los Angeles with 30 points, six assists and six rebounds. Carmelo Anthony added 15 points off the bench for the Lakers, who fell to oh-and-6 in the preseason. The Kings improved to 4-and-oh.

Oregon was picked to finish second in the conference, Oregon State was tied for fourth with Arizona, Washington State was in eighth place and Washington came in 11th place. (Phoenix, AZ) -- The Trail Blazers lost to the Suns 119-74 in preseason action in Phoenix. Damian Lillard led Portland with 12 points, and CJ McCollum and Robert Covington each scored 10 points. The Blazers are oh-and-3 in the preseason. They begin regular season play on Wednesday when they host the Sacramento Kings.

(San Francisco, CA) -- The first ever postseason series between the Dodgers and Giants comes to an end tonight in San Francisco. Los Angeles staved off elimination with a 7-2 win over the Giants in Game Four, pushing the series to a winner-take-all Game Five. The Dodgers put their playoff hopes on the shoulders of Julio Urias. The southpaw is 1-and-oh in the postseason with a 1.80 E-R-A. Opposite him is Logan Webb for San Francisco. Webb helped the Giants shut out Los Angeles in Game One and carries a 1-and-oh record with a spotless zero earned run average.

(Brooklyn, NY) -- Steve Nash and the Nets are planning to move forward without their starting point guard. Nash said it was a "difficult" but "sound" decision for the team after Kyrie Irving declined to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Both Nash and guard James Harden said on Wednesday that the team would welcome Irving back with open arms should he change his mind. Brooklyn is slated to start the regular season on October 19th.

(Oakland, CA) -- Longtime A's broadcaster Ray Fosse is dead at the age of 74. Fosse's wife Carol said in a statement that he passed away Wednesday after a 16-year battle with cancer. He was forced to step away from the A's broadcast booth earlier this season after 35 years. The former catcher played for three seasons in Oakland, and was a part of two World Series championships in 1973 and 1974.

(Phoenix, AZ) -- The Trail Blazers return to preseason action tonight. Portland, who sits oh-and-2 in the preseason, plays the defending Western Conference champions tonight in Phoenix. The Blazers begin regular season play a week from today when they host the Sacramento Kings.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said Tuesday that there are only four players unvaccinated for COVID-19 as the season begins. He added that NHL officials and all the team employees who come in contact with the players are vaccinated for COVID-19. Bettman said the health and safety of everyone "has been and will continue to be paramount".

Los Angeles exploded on offense as it beat the Giants 7-2 to even the series and stave off elimination in Los Angeles. Mookie Betts and Will Smith each hit two-run homers for the Dodgers, who responded after getting shut out in Game Three.

(Cumberland, GA) -- The Braves are on their way to the NLCS. Atlanta clinched a spot in the championship series after topping the Milwaukee Brewers with a 5-4 win at home in Game Four. Freddie Freeman hit the go-ahead home run off Brewers' reliever Josh Hader in the bottom of the eighth inning.

(Thousand Oaks, CA) -- The Rams are losing one of their starting cornerbacks to the injured reserve. Los Angeles placed Darious Williams on the IR after he suffered an ankle injury in the team's 26-17 win over the Seahawks on Thursday. He'll miss at least three weeks as the Rams will look to replace his production. Williams has 29 tackles and two passes defensed through five games this season. He led the team last season with four interceptions.

(Portland, OR) -- A Sportscenter star will be on Trail Blazers broadcasts. The Blazers announced they are adding ESPN's Neil Everett to the broadcast team. Everett will be Television Studio Host for pre, half and post-game coverage for most Trail Blazers road games starting this season.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Giants are one win away from advancing to the NLCS. San Francisco shutout the Dodgers 1-0 in a pivotal Game Three in Los Angeles. Alex Wood went four-and-two-thirds scoreless innings before handing things off to the Giants bullpen, which combined to allow only three hits. Evan Longoria provided the lone run with his solo homer in the fifth. The Giants take a 2-1 series lead and have the defending champs on the ropes. Max Scherzer was lights out for Los Angeles, striking out 10 over seven frames of one-run ball. The Dodgers managed only five hits.

(Henderson, NV) -- Jon Gruden has resigned as head coach of the Raiders. Gruden informed his staff of his intention to resign as more past emails surfaced that featured homophobic and misogynistic comments. This follows a report from an email from 2011 where Gruden made a racist comment about NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith. Raiders owner Mark Davis reportedly met with Gruden and was informed of the decision. Rich Bisaccia will serve as interim coach effective immediately.

(Pullman, WA) -- The Cougars got the better of the Beavers on Saturday. Jayden de Laura threw for 399 yards and three touchdowns in Wazzu's 31-24 win over Oregon State on Saturday in Pullman. Beavers running backs B.J. Baylor and Deshaun Fenwick each rushed for over 120 yards, but Chance Nolan tossed two interceptions. The Ducks were off over the weekend and are now ranked 10th in the coaches poll.

(Inglewood, CA) -- Justin Herbert found the end zone five times as he led the Chargers to a 47-42 win over the Browns in Inglewood. Herbert threw four touchdown passes, two of which went to Mike Williams, and also added a nine-yard touchdown run. Austin Ekeler also had a big day with 66 rushing yards, 53 receiving yards and three total scores. Los Angeles overcame a 14-point deficit in the third quarter to improve to 4-and-1.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- With things tied at a game-apiece, the Dodgers and Giants are heading into a pivotal Game Three in Los Angeles. The Dodgers got a 9-2 road win after the Giants won the series opener 4-0. Taking the hill for Los Angeles is Max Scherzer. The three-time CY Young Award winner sported a 15-and-4 record with a 2.46 E-R-A during the regular season. Opposite him is Alex Wood for San Francisco. The southpaw finished the year 10-and-4 with a 3.83 earned run average.

Week Six of college football is officially in the books. USC came out flat through three quarters as it fell 42-26 to Utah at home. Kedon Slovis threw for 401 yards and two touchdowns for the 3-and-3 Trojans. UCLA was more successful as it beat Arizona 34-16 to keep the Wildcats winless at oh-and-5. Stanford couldn't hang in Tempe as it fell 28-10 to Number-22 Arizona State. Cal had a bye week as it prepares to face 10th-ranked Oregon.

(Portland, OR) -- The Thorns placed President of Soccer Gavin Wilkinson on leave. This comes after The Athletic reported that the Thorns hid sexual harassment allegations against former coach Paul Riley. ESPN reported that Wilkinson will continue his duties as general manager and president for the Timbers. Thorns and Timbers owner Merritt Paulson apologized in an open letter Monday for the organization's decision to hide the allegations against Riley.

(Seattle, WA) -- Strap in for another NFC West battle on Thursday Night Football. The high-flying Los Angeles Rams head up to Seattle for a matchup with the Seahawks in primetime. The Seahawks have been fairly inconsistent throughout the season and that has resulted in a 2-and-2 record and will be looking to get above .500. Russell Wilson has looked like his usual self, though, with nine passing touchdowns and no interceptions and leads the NFL with a 129-point-9 passer rating.

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer says he never thought about resigning after the video of him at his Ohio bar went viral this weekend. Team owner Shad Khan said in a statement Meyer's conduct was "inexcusable" and that he must "regain our trust and respect." Jacksonville hosts Tennessee on Sunday.

The Sky are heading to the WNBA finals after knocking out the Connecticut Sun with a 79-69 win in Chicago. The Aces tied their semifinal series with the Mercury after a 93-76 win in Phoenix. A winner take-all Game Five is set for tomorrow night.

The Timbers Army and the Rose City Riveters announced a boycott on concessions and merchandise at Providence Park. This comes after The Athletic reported that the Thorns hid sexual harassment allegations against former coach Paul Riley. Both supporters' groups want Thorns GM Gavin Wilkinson fired immediately as a result.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Dodgers are losing their longtime ace for this year's postseason run. Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts announced Tuesday that Clayton Kershaw is expected to miss the postseason with an injury in his throwing arm. Roberts added there was no ligament damage for the three-time CY Young Award winner. Dodgers first baseman Max Muncy could return later in the postseason after he suffered a dislocated elbow in the team's season finale. Muncy won't need surgery, but his timetable remains unclear.

(Boston, MA) -- The Red Sox are on to the ALDS with a 6-2 win over the Yankees in Boston. New York dropped the AL Wild Card game after Gerrit Cole allowed three runs in two innings. Nathan Eovaldi held the Yankees to one run in five-and-a-third. Xander Bogaerts hit a two-run homer for Boston and Kyle Schwarber belted a solo shot in the win. Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton hit home runs for New York. The Sox will head to St. Petersburg to face the Tampa Bay Rays for the start of the division series Thursday night.

(Madrid, Spain) -- Two-time NBA champion Pau Gasol is announcing his retirement from basketball. The 41-year-old announced his decision on Tuesday, bringing an end to his 19-year NBA career. The Athletic reports the Lakers will retire Gasol's Number-16 jersey, making him the 11th player in franchise history to receive the honor. Gasol was a six-time NBA All-Star and averaged 17 points and 9.2 rebound per game and won two championships with Los Angeles. He played his final NBA season with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2019 and wrapped up his career with FC Barcelona in 2021.

(Jacksonville, FL) -- The owner of the Jaguars is speaking out regarding the controversy surrounding his head coach. Shahid Khan described Urban Meyer's conduct as "inexcusable." Meyer was seen recently on a dance floor and a woman was dancing near his lap. The nine-second video went viral, and Meyer has since apologized.

(Portland, OR) -- Timbers and Thorns owner Merritt Paulson apologized in an open letter Monday for the organization's decision to hide sexual harassment allegations against former Thorns coach Paul Riley. This comes after The Athletic reported last week that Riley sexually harassed Thorns players in 2014 and 2015. As a result of the allegations coming to light, Riley was fired as head coach of the North Carolina Courage and Lisa Baird resigned Friday as NWSL commissioner. Timbers fans had banners criticizing Paulson at their game on Sunday.

(Lincoln, AL) -- Bubba Wallace is making history on the track. Wallace became the second black driver to win a race at NASCAR's top Cup Series level as he took home the win at Talladega following rain bringing the race to a halt. The first was Wendell Scott in 1963.

Sunday night's game between the Patriots and Buccaneers was the second most watched Sunday night game ever. Tom Brady's return to New England generated an audience of 28-and-a-half-million viewers. The Buccaneers won 19-17.

Meanwhile, number-9 Oregon lost to Stanford 31-24 in Palo Alto, in a game where Ducks offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead was not present due to a non-COVID illness. Wazzu defeated Cal 21-6 in the Bay Area on Saturday for its first Pac-12 win

(Seattle, WA) -- The Mariners gave up home runs to Shohei Ohtani and Jared Walsh in a 7-3 loss to the Angels in Seattle. Tyler Anderson took the loss for Seattle after giving up four runs in one-and-two-thirds innings. JP Crawford drove in two runs for the Mariners and Jarred Kelenic had two hits and an RBI single. The Mariners finish the season at 90-and-72, their best record since 2003.

(Houston, TX) -- Yuli Gurriel hit a walk-off RBI single in the ninth to give the Astros a 7-6 win over the A's in Houston. Seth Brown hit a two-run blast and a solo shot, while Tony Kemp and Khris Davis both launched solo blasts. Lou Trivino took the loss after allowing the walkoff hit. Oakland finished the season 86-and-76 after dropping the last two games of the year.

(San Francisco, CA) -- The Giants are clinching their first NL West title since 2012. San Francisco defeated the Padres 11-4 to win the division and set a franchise-record with 107 wins. Logan Webb struck out eight over seven innings of four-run ball. He also hit a two-run homer in the fifth for the Giants, who will play the winner of the Cardinals-Dodgers Wild Card game. Buster Posey added a pair of hits and drove in three runs in the victory.

(Arlington, TX) -- The Rangers overcame a five-run deficit as they battled back to defeat the Angels 7-6 in Arlington. Los Angeles scored five runs in the first, but managed only one more score over the final eight innings of the game. Shohei Ohtani added to his team-leading 99 RBI as he hit an RBI triple. Jared Walsh had three hits and batted in a run for Los Angeles, which has lost three of its last four. Jimmy Herget was tagged with his third loss in relief. The Angels start a road series with the Mariners tonight.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Corey Seager continues to punish the Padres. Seager pounded two home runs as the Dodgers defeated the Padres 8-3 in Los Angeles. Justin Turner, A.J. Pollock and Mookie Betts also homered for Los Angeles. Corey Knebel got the win out of the bullpen for the Dodgers, who have 103 wins and remain two games behind the Giants in the NL West. They start a home series with the Brewers tonight.

(Undated) -- NFL action returns this weekend as teams head into Week Four. The Rams face a divisional opponent in the Cardinals as both teams enter Sunday with 3-and-oh records. Also locked in an NFC West battle is the 49ers, who take on the Seahawks at home. Each of them are trying to keep pace in what looks to be a tight divisional race. The Chargers and Raiders headline primetime action as they play one another on Monday night. Las Vegas sits a 3-and-oh, while Los Angeles enters 2-and-1.

(Houston, TX) -- The Athletics are back in action tonight as they face the Astros in Houston. Oakland has dropped three straight games and was eliminated from the postseason with its loss to the Mariners on Wednesday. They send Sean Manaea to the mound for the series opener. The southpaw carries a 10-and-10 record with a 3.94 earned run average. Houston is going to start Framber Valdez.

(San Francisco, CA) -- The Giants are hanging tight to their slim NL West lead heading into the final week of the regular season after a 5-4 walkoff win over the Diamondbacks in San Francisco. LaMonte Wade Jr. singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth for the Giants, who rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to win their sixth straight. The Giants remain two games ahead of the Dodgers for the NL West lead with just three games remaining. San Francisco will host San Diego this weekend in its final series, while Los Angeles entertains Milwaukee.
