Ohio State Takes Over #1 Spot In CFP Rankings

(Undated)  --  Ohio State is the new number-one team in the College Football Playoff rankings.  The Buckeyes leapfrogged fellow unbeaten LSU, which dropped to second.  Clemson remains third followed by Georgia and Alabama.  Utah is up to sixth, while Oklahoma, Minnesota, Baylor and Penn State round out the top-10.  Previous number-six ranked Oregon fell eight spots to 14th after losing to Arizona State over the weekend.

Trail Blazers Hammer Bulls To Snap Losing Streak

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers return home tonight after their six-game road trip to face the Thunder.  They snapped their four-game losing streak Monday with a 117-94 win over the Bulls in Chicago.  It was their second four-game slide of the young season.  They'll host Chicago at the Moda Center Friday night. 

Reed's Status Unknown For Monday

(Renton, WA)  --  While the news was good Monday for Jadaveon Clowney, the same couldn't be said for Jarran Reed.  Reed left Sunday's win over the Eagles during the second quarter with a sprained ankle and did not return.  He played just 21 snaps.  The injury, according to head coach Pete Carroll, had previously caused Reed to miss or limit him in practice.  The Seahawks will host the Vikings for Monday Night Football. 

Vikings Top Grambling in Santa Barbara

(Santa Barbara, CA)  --  Holland Woods had 20 points as the Vikings beat Grambling 84-74 in Santa Barbara, California, Tuesday.  Matt Hauser had 19 points while Alonzo Walker had 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win.  Portland State will face UC Santa Barbara tonight.  Also tonight, number 10 Oregon take on number-13 Seton Hall in the Bahamas while Oregon State will face San Jose State in Las Vegas.  The Pilots are off until Sunday.

Civil War This Weekend

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks and Beavers will meet in the annual Civil War at Autzen Stadium this weekend in Eugene.  The Ducks are 9-and-2 entering the game and have their postseason berth secured, but the Beavers need a win to become bowl eligible. 

Ducks Up in Latest Hoops Poll

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon Basketball is up in the latest Coaches' Poll.  The Ducks up one spot to number-10 in the fourth week.  They'll take on number-13 Seton Hall in the Bahamas tomorrow night.  Also in college basketball, Portland State will face Grambling tonight in Santa Barbara, California.  The Beavers will face San Jose State in Las Vegas tomorrow.

Trail Blazers Hammer Bulls To Snap Losing Streak

(Chicago, IL)  --  Carmelo Anthony had 25 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Bulls 117-94 in Chicago.  CJ McCollum had 21 points as Portland snapped its four-game losing streak.  Damian Lillard had 13 points and 12 assists in the win while Hassan Whiteside had 13 points and 12 rebounds.  The Blazers will return home tomorrow night after their six-game road trip to face the Thunder. 

Ansah Getting Stronger For Seahawks

(Renton, WA)  --  Ziggy Ansah has turned a corner physically.  At least that's what head coach Pete Carroll thinks.  The Seahawks' big-ticket offseason acquisition had one-and-a-half sacks and a forced fumble Sunday against the Eagles on 37 defensive snaps.  Carroll said it's the strongest and heaviest Ansah's been since he's been here.  The 'Hawks will host the Vikings on Monday Night Football this week. 

Ducks' Tackle Named Finalist For Outland Trophy

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon left tackle Penei Sewell is among the three finalists for the Outland Trophy, awarded annually to the nation's best interior lineman on either offense or defense.  He's nominated along with Wisconsin center Tyler Biadasz and Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown.  Sewell has been named Pac-12 offensive lineman of the week three times this season.

Civil War This Weekend

Clowney Injury Related to Sports Hernia

(Renton, WA)  --  Jadaveon Clowney's hip injury is related to a sports hernia, Pete Carroll said Monday.  As to why it wasn't treated during the Seahawks' bye week, the head coach said it wasn't initially clear the injury required a visit to a specialist.  However, following a trip to a doctor in Philadelphia Friday, he was inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Now, Carroll says Clowney is feeling good and he's looking forward to playing Monday against Minnesota.

Oregon Upset By ASU

(Tempe, AZ)  --  Previously sixth-ranked Oregon fell to 13th after losing 31-28 to Arizona State in Tempe, despite a furious, late comeback.  Cyrus Habibi-Likio ran for a pair of touchdowns and Johnny Johnson the Third caught two from Justin Herbert as the comeback attempt fell short in the desert.  Herbert finished with 304 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the loss as they fell to 9-and-2.  The Ducks take on Oregon State Saturday in the season finale.

Blazers Wrap Up Road Trip Tonight

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Trail Blazers' ill-fated road trip continues tonight in Chicago where they'll take on the Bulls.  Portland has lost their last four games of the six-game trip, which will wrap up tonight.  They are 5-and-12 and in last place in the Northwest Division.  The Blazers will be back in the Pacific-Northwest Wednesday night when they take on Oklahoma City. 

Seahawks Survive Eagles Thanks To Big Plays

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Rashaad Penny had 129 yards rushing and a touchdown as the Seahawks beat the Eagles 17-9 in Philadelphia.  Russell Wilson threw for 200 yards, including a 33 yard touchdown pass to Malik Turner in the in the first quarter as they ran their record to 9-and-2 and 6-and-0 on the road.  Penny had a 58-yard touchdown run in the fourth to make it a 14-point lead for Seattle.  The 'Hawks will take on the Vikings at home next week on Monday Night Football.

College Basketball Roundup

(Undated)  --  In college basketball this weekend, Oregon State got 22 from Kylor Kelley to beat Grambling 80-58 in Corvallis Saturday while Portland State went on the road and beat San Jose State 91-76.  Portland beat UC Davis 72-62 at home.  The Vikings will face Grambling tomorrow in Santa Barbara, California.  Number 11 Oregon will face number 13 Seton Hall in the Bahamas Wednesday night while the Beavers will face San Jose State in Las Vegas.  The Pilots are off until December 2nd.

Oregon State Nipped By Washington State

(Pullman, WA)  --  Oregon State lost on the last play of the game as Max Borghi scored from two-yards out to give Washington State the 54-53 win in Pullman.  Jermar Jefferson scored four touchdowns, three in the fourth quarter, on 132 yards rushing and 52 receiving.  Jake Lutton threw for 408 yards and five touchdowns in the loss to fall to 5-and-6.  Elsewhere, Portland State fell 53-46 in its regular-season finale, despite scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter against Eastern Washington.  The Vikings finish 5-and-7 on the year. 

Trail Blazers Fall To Bucks

(Milwaukee, WI)  --  CJ McCollum led the way with 37 points and 10 assists for Portland, which fell 137-129 to the Bucks in Milwaukee.  Carmelo Anthony dropped 18 points on 6-of-15 shooting in his second game with the Blazers.  Portland falls to 5-and-11 and will visit the Cavaliers tomorrow.

Oregon State At Washington State Tomorrow

(Pullman, WA)  --  Oregon State has a chance to become bowl eligible tomorrow.  The Beavers will visit the Washington State Cougars.  Oregon State is 5-and-5.  Also tomorrow, Portland State will conclude its season at Eastern Washington.

Sixth-Ranked Oregon At ASU Tomorrow

(Tempe, AZ)  --  The sixth-ranked Ducks will visit Arizona State tomorrow.  Pre-game at 2:30, kick-off at 4:30 here on KBND. Oregon will look to keep rolling as it chases a College Football Playoff spot.  Oregon is 9-and-1.

Report: Seahawks Place Ed Dickson On IR

(Renton, WA)  --  Ed Dickson's return to the Seahawks is reportedly over.  The Seahawks are reportedly placing the tight end on injured reserve a day after he was activated from injured reserve.  Dickson underwent knee surgery in August.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks continue to get ready for the Eagles.  Seattle will visit Philadelphia on Sunday.  The Seahawks are hoping fresh legs will serve them well after the bye.  Seattle is 8-and-2 and a game back of San Francisco for first in the NFC West.

(Undated)  --  The Trail Blazers are moving on from veteran big man Pau Gasol.  Portland has waived Gasol, who has been unable to successfully rehabilitate his left foot.  Portland and Gasol are working on a role that would see him get involved in coaching.

(Milwaukee, WI)  --  The Trail Blazers are back in action tonight.  Portland will visit the Milwaukee Bucks.  It's the fourth game of a six-game road trip for the Trail Blazers.  Portland is 5-and-10.

Seahawks Visit Eagles Sunday

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are hard at work as they prepare to visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.  Seattle is 8-and-2 on the season.  The Seahawks are a game back of San Francisco for first in the NFC West.

Jury Still Out On Carmelo After Debut

(New Orleans, LA)  --  Carmelo Anthony got the start in his debut with the Trail Blazers, starting at the four as Terry Stotts trotted out three shooting guards without Damian Lillard.  'Melo played 24 minutes, shooting 4-for-14 with 10 points, pulling down four rebounds, but committing five fouls, five turnovers, and posting a negative 20 for his plus-minus.  The 10-time All-Star had not played since November 8th of last year when he appeared in 10 games for Houston.  Anthony is 35 years old and began his career in 2003 with the Nuggets.

Holiday Soars as Pelicans Beat Trail Blazers

(New Orleans, LA)  --  Jrue Holiday had 22 points and 10 assists as the Pelicans beat the Trail Blazers 115-104 in New Orleans.  CJ McCollum had 22 points while Hassan Whiteside had 14 points and 14 rebounds.  Portland has lost four-of-five to fall to 5-and-9.  Their road trip will continue tomorrow night when they visit the Bucks in Milwaukee.

Top-Seven Unchanged In CFP Rankings

(Undated)  --  The top-four are standing pat in this week's College Football Playoff rankings.  LSU is still first followed by Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia.  The top-seven overall remain the same with Alabama fifth, Oregon sixth and Utah seventh.  Oregona and Alabama hold the same record at 9-and-1 and have each beaten one top-25 team.

Valentin Selected In Expansion Draft

(Undated)  --  Nashville SC used the fourth overall pick in the MLS Expansion Draft Tuesday to select defender Zarek Valentin from the Timbers.  He was then immediately traded to the Dynamo for keeper Joe Willis.  Valentin joined Portland in 2016 and made 96 starts among 107 appearances, scoring one goal and piling up five assists in four seasons with the club.

Kendricks Sentencing Postponed

(Renton, WA)  --  Pete Carroll has confirmed that Mychal Kendricks' sentencing has been postponed until after the season, confirming an ESPN report.  He said he's really happy for the linebacker's peace of mind.  It is the fifth time his sentencing has been postponed.  He is scheduled to be sentenced in U.S. District Court's Eastern District of Pennsylvania - the offense occurred when Kendricks played for the Eagles.  The team will be in Philadelphia Sunday to take on the Eagles. 

Jordan Morris Scores Twice as Americans Top Cuba

(George Town, Cayman Islands)  --  Sounders forward and Seattle native Jordan Morris scored twice as the US Men's National Team beat Cuba 4-nil in the Cayman Islands in the fourth game of the CONCACAF Nations League.  Morris scored in the 26th and 39th minutes to advance the Americans' lead to 3-nothing.  Greater St. Louis native Josh Sargent scored the other two for the US. 

Harden, Westbrook Shine as Rockets Blast Past Blazers

(Houston, TX)  --  James Harden had a game-high 36 points as the Rockets cruised to a 132-108 win over the Trail Blazers in Houston.  CJ McCollum had 25 points as Portland fell to 5-and-9.  CJ McCollum had 13 points and 11 assists in the loss.  Russell Westbrook had a triple-double, going for 28 points, 10 assists and 13 rebounds for Houston.  Portland will continue it's six-game road trip tonight in New Orleans.

Third College Football Playoff Rankings Tonight -- Where Will Ducks Land?

(Undated)  --  The third College Football Playoff rankings will debut tonight.  Oregon stayed at number six following their win this past weekend.  The million dollar question for those in Duck-nation will be: Where does Alabama stand now that it doesn't have Tua Tagovailoa?  Last week they were number five.  Even though they handily beat Mississippi State, and barring an LSU collapse are out of the SEC title game, are they still in contention?  The Ducks will face Arizona State in Tempe this weekend. 

World Cup 2022 To Be Shortest Since 1978

(Undated)  --  FIFA is confirming the dates for the controversial 2022 World Cup in Qatar.  The world's biggest soccer tournament will be held from November 21st to December 18th.  That makes it the shortest World Cup since 1978, when the tournament only had half of the 32 teams it currently has.  It's also being held right in the middle of the seasons of major European leagues.  Qatar was awarded the tournament despite not having the infrastructure of previous host nations and its national team never having qualified for the competition. 

2020 Hall of Fame Ballots Released

(Cooperstown, NY)  --  The Hall of Fame ballots for the Class of 2020 went out on Monday and there is one big name on it -- Derek Jeter.  He joins returning big names like Barry Bonds, Larry Walker, Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens, and Todd Helton.  Standouts joining the list for the first time include former Mariner Cliff Lee, Bobby Abreu, Josh Beckett, Jason Giambi, and Paul Konerko. 

Carroll Expects Lockett to be Available Sunday Against Seahawks

(Renton, WA)  --  Pete Carroll is anticipating Tyler Lockett to be available for the Seahawks Sunday against the Eagles in Philadelphia.  The receiver suffered a contusion in his left leg last week against the 49ers and stayed in northern California for an extra couple of days in the hospital.  He didn't practice Monday, but he was at the team's facility in Renton.  Carroll said Lockett needs to show he's ready to play before he can step on the field.

Blazers Come To Terms With Carmelo Anthony

(Houston, TX)  --  The Blazers have come to an agreement of a non-guaranteed contract with free agent forward Carmelo Anthony.  President of basketball operations Neil Oshley told ESPN he had tried to acquire the prolific scorer on a number of occasions, but never had luck before.  Now 35, it appears to be the time for 'Melo in the Rose City.  He is expected to join up with the team at some point during the road trip, but not tonight in Houston. 

Blazers Visit Rockets Tonight

(Houston, TX)  --  The Trail Blazers will play their second of a six-game road trip when they face the Rockets in Houston tonight.  After that, they'll face the Pelicans tomorrow in New Orleans.  They beat the Spurs in San Antonio over the weekend, 121-116 behind 32 points from CJ McCollum. 

Oregon State Cruises Past Wyoming

(Laramie, WY)  --  Tres Tinkle had 16 points and nine rebounds as the Beavers cruised past Wyoming 83-63 in Laramie.  Kylor Kelley and Ethan Thompson each had 13 for Oregon State in the win.  The Beavers will U-C Santa Barbara Wednesday night.  Also in college basketball, Portland State hosts Portland Wednesday.

Oregon Tops UT-Arlington

(Eugene, OR)  --  Payton Prichard had 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds as Oregon beat UT-Arlington in Eugene.  Will Richardson and Addison Patterson each had nine points in the win.  The Ducks will be off until Friday when they welcome Houston to town.

(Undated)  --  In college football, Oregon made quick work of Arizona Saturday, winning 35-6 at Autzen for it's ninth-straight win.  The sixth-ranked Ducks got 333 yards and four touchdowns from Justin Herbert as they built a 21-0 lead before the WIldcats got on the board.  Oregon State held on to beat A-S-U Saturday in Corvallis 35-34 after a failed two-point conversion inside the final two minutes.  Jake Lutton threw for 288 yards and four scores while Isaiah Hodgins had six catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.  Portland State is coming off a bye and will face Eastern Washington in its regular season finale Saturday.

Report: Seahawks Send Representative to Scout Kaepernick

(Atlanta, GA)  -- The Seahawks were among the teams at Colin Kaepernick's workout in Georgia this weekend, according to ESPN.  The team had previous brought in the quarterback for a visit in 2017, but opted to sign Austin Davis to compete for the backup job instead.  Currently, Geno Smith is the backup. 

Seahawks Ready For Eagles

(Renton, WA)  --  After the bye week, the Seahawks will now gear up to play the Eagles in Philadelphia Sunday.  Philadelphia lost to New England at home 17-10 behind the throwing prowess of former Kent State quarterback Julian Edelman, who connected with Phillip Dorsett for the game-deciding touchdown.

Report: Trail Blazers To Sign Carmelo Anthony

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers are looking for a spark to their season.  According to reports, the Trail Blazers are bringing in forward Carmelo Anthony.  The 10-time All-Star last played with the Rockets after a brief stint with the Thunder.  The deal is reportedly non-guaranteed.

(San Antonio, TX)  --  On the hardwood, the Trail Blazers will visit the San Antonio Spurs tomorrow.  Portland is looking to shake off a 114-108 loss at home to the Raptors on Wednesday.  The Trail Blazers are 4-and-8, losing six of their last seven.

Ducks LB Dye Senior Bowl Bound

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon linebacker Troy Dye is Senior Bowl bound.  He's been invited to the annual college all-star showcase, which will be played January 25th at Ladd-Pebbles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.  Dye is the 37th Ducks' player in history to go to the Senior Bowl.

Former Seahawk McDowell Sentenced To 11 Months In Jail

(Pontiac, MI)  --  Former Seahawks defensive lineman Malik McDowell is sentenced to 11 months in jail and three months probation.  He pleaded guilty last month in Michigan to resisting arrest during a DUI stop and possession of stolen property.  McDowell was drafted in 2017.

Seahawks Recharging During Bye Week

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are recharging for the stretch run with a bye this week.  Seattle is coming off an overtime win at San Francisco on Monday Night Football.  The Seahawks have won three in-a-row to improve to 8-and-2.  The 49ers still lead the NFC West at 8-and-1.

Blazers Fall To Kings

(Sacramento, CA)  --  The Kings got 25 points and 10 assists from Bogdan Bogdanovic to beat the Trail Blazers 107-99 in Sacramento.  Damian Lillard had 27 points while CJ McCollum added 24.  Hassan Whiteside had 17 and seven rebounds in the loss as the Blazers fell to 4-and-7.  Portland will be back at the Moda Center tonight to face the Raptors before leaving on a six-game road trip.

Beavers Fall To Sooners in Portland

(Portland, OR)  --  In the second game of the night, Oregon State fell 77-69 to Oklahoma.  The Beavers fell victim to a 19-3 second-half run by the Sooners.  Tres Tinkle put up 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for Oregon State, who fell to 2-and-1.   They'll be at Wyoming on Saturday.  Elsewhere, the Pilots will be off until Saturday when they welcome Maine to town, while the Vikings will visit Hawaii Friday.

(Portland, OR)  --  Shakur Juiston scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the 14th-ranked Oregon Ducks beat number-15 Memphis at the Moda Center in the first game of the Phil Knight Invitational.  Payton Prichard added 14 points in the win.  James Wiseman had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers in the loss.  At 3-and-0, the Ducks will host Texas Sunday.

Blazers Snap Losing Streak Versus Hawks

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored 30 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Hawks 124-113 in Overtime at the Moda Center.  CJ McCollum had 23 points and Hasssan Whiteside added 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Anfernee Simons scored 20 off the bench in the win, snapping the Blazers' four-game losing streak.  They'll visit Sacramento to play the Kings tomorrow night.

Oregon Upset Team USA

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks women's basketball team did something entire nations sometimes can't achieve:  They beat the United States.  Oregon became only the second college team Saturday to beat Team USA, winning 93-86 in Eugene.  Sabrina Ionescu scored 30 points and doled out seven assists while Ruthy Hebard had 18 points and 11 rebounds.  The top-ranked Ducks open their regular season tonight at home against Northeastern.

(Undated)  --  In college football, the Beavers were shut down offensively and lost to Washington 19-7 in Corvallis.  They scored a touchdown in the third quarter on a Jaydon Grant 36-yard interception returned for a touchdown which cut the Husky lead to just six.  Oregon State managed just 119 yards of total offense.  At 4-and-5, the Beavers will host Arizona State Saturday.  Portland State gave up a big fourth-quarter to UC Davis, losing 45-28.  Now at 5-and-6, the Vikings will have a bye week before they wrap up the regular season against Eastern Washington November 23rd.

Oregon Opens Season With Resounding Win

(Eugene, OR)  --  Payton Pritchard had 24 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists as the 14th ranked Ducks beat Fresno State 71-57 in Eugene.  It was the 22nd consecutive Oregon home opener victory and made coach Dana Altman the all-time winningest coach in the program's history with 236 wins.  He broke a tie with Ernie Kent.  The Ducks also extended their streak of games making a three pointer, though they only made one, to 750-straight.  They'll host Boise State Saturday.

(Undated)  --  The first College Football Playoff top-25 was announced and Oregon checked in at number seven, one ahead of Utah.  The top six is made up of Ohio State first, then LSU, Alabama, and Penn State, with Clemson and Georgia as the first two out.  Oregon will be off this weekend.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Eric Paschall poured in 36 points and 13 rebounds as the Warriors beat the Trail Blazers 127-118 in San Francisco.  Damian Lillard scored a game-high 39 points for Portland, while Hassan Whiteside added 22 points and 11 rebounds.  CJ McCollum and Anfernee Simons each scored 14 in defeat.  Portland will visit the Clippers on Thursday night to wrap up its road trip.

First Playoff Standings Come Out Tomorrow

(Undated)  --  The first College Football Playoff rankings will be announced tonight.  Oregon, which is seventh in the Coaches Poll, sits at 8-and-1.  The rankings will update every Tuesday until the selection show December 8th.  The Ducks are on a bye this week.

Franchise Values Up in MLS

(Undated)  --  Franchise values in the MLS are up, despite revenues being stagnant for many, and down for some.  Many investors are banking on a new national TV deal in 2023 and the 2026 World Cup which will be held stateside, according to a Forbes report Monday.  The magazine valued the Timbers as the sixth most valuable club.  Atlanta United took the top spot at a valuation of 500-million dollars.  Portland is worth an approximate 390 million.  Despite the fourth-highest revenue in the league at 47-million, the team operates at just a four-million-dollar income.  Arch-rival Seattle is fourth at 405-million-dollars.

Ducks Demolish Trojans Ahead of Bye Week

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Justin Herbert passed for 225 yards and threw three touchdown passes to Juwan Johnson in the second half, and Oregon recovered from a slow start to cruise to its eighth consecutive victory.

 

Freshman Mykael Wright returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown shortly after Brady Breeze returned an interception 32 yards for a score late in the second quarter for the Ducks (8-1, 6-0 Pac-12).


Oregon erased an early 10-0 deficit by scoring a touchdown after each of four turnovers by USC freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis during a 19-minute stretch spanning halftime.

 

Herbert and receiver Jaylon Redd rushed for touchdowns in the first half for Oregon, which remained on track for the Pac-12 North title and a good shot at the College Football Playoff despite a rough start at the Coliseum. Johnson, the Ducks' senior Penn State transfer, had seven catches for 106 yards after making just six previous receptions all season.

Blazers Face Off With Different-Looking Warriors in Western-Conference Finals Rematch

(San Francisco, CA)  --  The Trail Blazers will be looking to exact some measure of revenge tonight when they face the Golden State Warriors in their new arena in San Francisco. Tip-off at 7:30 pm tonight on KBND. The Warriors knocked Portland out of the Western Conference finals last season, but look markedly different this year after a slew of early-season injuries.  Portland will be without Pau Gasol and Zach Collins, while the Dubs will be without Draymond Green and Stephen Curry.

Beavers Rout Wildcats For Second-Straight Win

(Tucson, AZ)  --  Jake Lutton threw for 328 yards and three touchdown passes as the Beavers beat up on Arizona 56-38 in Tucson.  With back-to-back wins and at 4-and-4, Oregon State will return to Corvallis to face Washington Saturday night. 

Florida State Fires Former Oregon Coach Taggart

(Tallahassee, FL)  --  Florida State is parting ways with head football coach Willie Taggart.  FSU fired the second-year coach after the team lost to rival Miami 27-10 on Saturday.  The Seminoles are 4-and-5 on the season and 9-and-12 overall under Taggart.  The 43-year-old is owed a 17-million-dollar buyout.  Longtime assistant Odell Haggins will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season.  Taggart left Oregon after one year to take the FSU job.

Korkmaz hits late 3-pointer, 76ers top Trail Blazers 129-128

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Furkan Korkmaz made a 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left and the Philadelphia 76ers rallied for their fifth straight victory to start the season, 129-128 over the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night.

Anfernee Simons made a corner 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to put Portland in front, but the Sixers got the ball back after a timeout to set up Korkmaz's falling-down, 24-footer for the win - without suspended center Joel Embiid. Philadelphia is the last undefeated team in the NBA with its first 5-0 start since 2000-01.

Embiid served the first of a two-game suspension for an altercation with Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns during the 76ers' 117-95 home victory Wednesday night.

Al Horford added 25 points for Philadelphia.

Damian Lillard led Portland with 33 points, hitting eight of Portland's 19 3-pointers. 

Oregon State Football At Arizona Tomorrow

(Tucson, AZ)  --  Oregon State is back in action tomorrow.  The Beavers are coming of a bye and take on Arizona in Tucson.  OSU has traded wins and losses in its last six games and is 3-and-4 overall, including 2-and-2 in the Pac-12.  The Wildcats have lost three straight to slip to 4-and-4 on the year.

Oregon Football At USC Tomorrow

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Eighth-ranked Oregon is on the road tomorrow to play Southern Cal. Pre-game at 3:00, kick-off at 5:00 here on KBND.  The Ducks edged Washington State last weekend for their seventh straight win since a season-opening loss to Auburn.  Oregon is 7-and-1 overall and 5-and-0 in the Pac-12.  The Trojans are 5-and-3 overall.

Sounders Host Toronto FC In MLS Cup Next Sunday

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Sounders have some downtime before playing in the MLS Cup.  They will host Toronto FC a week from Sunday in the MLS title match.  Seattle advanced with a 3-1 win over Los Angeles FC in the West final on Tuesday.  Toronto topped Atlanta 2-1 in the East final on Wednesday.
