Damian Lillard Named NBA All-Star

(Undated)  --  Damian Lillard is going back to the NBA All-Star Game.  Lillard was selected to the Western Conference reserve pool.  It's the fifth selection for Lillard.  According to reports, he will also participate in the three-point contest.

Trail Blazers Visit Lakers Tonight

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Trail Blazers will visit the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.  It's the Lakers' first game since the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others this past Sunday.  The Lakers and Clippers game set for earlier this week had been postponed.  The Trail Blazers have won two straight and are 21-and-27.

Oregon State Takes Down Stanford

(Stanford, CA)  --  Jarod Lucas scored 21 points as Oregon State took down Stanford 68-63 on the road.  Tres Tinkle added 15 for the Beavers.  Oregon State improves to 13-and-8 and visits Cal tomorrow.

12th-Ranked Oregon Downs Cal

(Berkeley, CA)  --  Payton Pritchard scored 21 points as number-12 Oregon downed Cal 77-72 in Berkeley.  Chris Duarte added 19 for the Ducks while Will Richardson scored 15.  The Ducks improve to 18-and-4 and will have a showdown with Stanford on the road tomorrow.

Blazers' Nurkic Has Setback, Injures Calf

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic has reportedly suffered a setback in his recovery from the horrific leg injury he suffered last season.  In an interview with 1080 The Fan, The Athletic's Jason Quick stated Nurkic suffered a calf strain after his return to full-court practice.  It isn't clear how serious the injury is.

Trail Blazers Take Down Rockets

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard posted a triple-double with 36 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists as the Trail Blazers took down the Rockets 125-112 in Portland.  C.J. McCollum added 22 points while Trevor Ariza posted 21.  The Trail Blazers improve to 21-and-27 and will visit the Lakers tomorrow.

Oregon State Visits Stanford Tonight

(Stanford, CA)  --  Oregon State will visit Stanford tonight.  The Beavers are struggling at 12-and-8 but just 2-and-6 and in conference play.  Oregon State has lost four in a row.

12th-Ranked Oregon At Cal Tonight

(Berkeley, CA)  --  12th-ranked Oregon is on the road tonight.  The Ducks will visit Cal.  Oregon has won three straight games.  The Ducks are 17-and-4 and 6-and-2 in conference play.

NBA All-Star Reserves Named Tonight

(Undated)  --  The NBA All-Star Reserves will be announced tonight.  Damian Lillard has a chance to make the All-Star Game as a reserve in the Western Conference pool.  The All-Star Game is February 16th in Chicago.

Rumors Swirl Over Seattle NHL Team Name

(Seattle, WA)  --  Rumors are swirling about the name of the Seattle NHL expansion franchise.  Reports are the team could be named the Seattle Kraken.  The Seattle NHL franchise took to social media to explain amid the rumors that it is taking its time to pick the right name.  The Seattle team will begin play in the 2021-22 season.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The numer-12 Oregon Ducks will be back on the hardwood tomorrow when they defend their 17-and-4 record in Berkeley against Cal.  Meanwhile, the Beavers will also be in action, taking on the Cardinal in Palo Alto.  Oregon tops the Pac-12 with a 6-and-2 record, while Oregon State is 2-and-6.

Gauff Joins Williams, Others In Fed Cup Qualifier

(Everett, WA)  --  15-year-old Coco Gauff will be joining Serena Williams as part of the U.S. team playing Latvia in a Fed Cup qualifier February 7th at Everett's Angel of the Winds Arena.  The United States Tennis Association announced Williams would be on the team in Everett, and Gauff, Sofia Kenin, Alison Riske and Bethanie Mattek-Sands will join her on the five-member team.  Gauff reached the fourth-round of Wimbledon last year and the fourth round of the Australian Open this year before losing to Kenin.  Kenin is on to the semis after her win over Ons Jabeur.

Oregon Moves Up In Latest Poll

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks moved up one rung to number 12 in the basketball Coaches Poll.  Oregon will take a 17-and-4 record into a Thursday game at Cal.  Meanwhile, the Beavers will also be in action, taking on the Cardinal on Thursday in Palo Alto.

XFL Team Announces Starting Quarterback, 52-Man Roster

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Dragons of the XFL have announced their roster and starting quarterback.  Head coach Jim Zorn said Brandon Silvers, former Troy quarterback, will be under center when the team kicks off the season on February 8th in Washington DC against the Defenders.  Former Seahawk BJ Daniels will serve as backup and Joe Callahan did not make the roster.  Among those waived was former Huskies running back Lavon Coleman.

Head of KeyArena Project Denies Amazon Leader For Naming Rights

(Seattle, WA)  --  The head of the KeyArena project is denying reports Amazon is the leader in the clubhouse for the naming rights to the remodeled Seattle arena.  Oak View Group CEO Tim Leiweke last week dismissed the report as "speculation."  Sports Business Daily and the Puget Sound Business Journal, citing unnamed sources, said KeyArena project developer OVG and the team are seeking annual rights of roughly 14 million dollars over an unspecified period of time and want a deal by June 1. The outlet did not mention which other two companies are involved.  NHL Seattle deferred all public comment to OVG and Leiweke. Amazon did not comment to the Seattle Times.

Blazers Top Pacers

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard went off for 50 points and 13 assists as the Blazers topped the Pacers 139-129 in Portland.  CJ McCollum added 28 points for the Blazers, who have won two-of-three to improve to 20-and-27 overall.  Both teams paid tribute to Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter crash Sunday, with 24- and eight-second violations.  Portland will wrap up its four-game homestand against the Rockets on Wednesday night. 

Oregon State Drops Fourth Straight.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Beavers got 17 points from Tres Tinkle but fell 75-55 to USC in Corvallis Saturday.  It was their fourth-straight loss.  Kylor Kelley scored 10 as they fell to 12-and-8.  Oregon State will be on the road when Pac-12 play resumes on Thursday.  They'll be in Palo Alto Thursday night when they take on Stanford and then Berkeley Saturday when they visit Cal. 

Oregon Blows Out UCLA

(Eugene, OR)  --  The 13th ranked Ducks carried a big first-half lead to victory, beating UCLA in Eugene 96-75 Sunday.  Chris Duarte had 24 points, six steals, five assists, and six rebounds, while Payton Pritchard had 19 points.  Oregon, now 17-and-4, will be on the road when Pac-12 play resumes on Thursday when they visit Cal in Berkeley and then Stanford in Palo Alto Saturday.

Timbers Announce Preseason Slate

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will host three games at Providence Park for the preseason against MLS opponents.  They'll host the Vancouver Whitecaps February 16th, Minnesota United February 19th, and New England Revolution February 22nd. 

Oregon QB Herbert Named Senior Bowl MVP

(Mobile, AL)  --  Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert won the Senior Bowl MVP honor, completing nine of 12 passes for 83 yards and a score for the South.  Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan said Herbert will be a really good NFL player after coaching him in Mobile.   Herbert's performance, however, in all likelihood will not sway the Bengals from taking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow first overall in the draft.

(Undated)  --  Elsewhere in college basketball, Portland State couldn't hold off Northern Arizona and loss 84-82 on the road Saturday while Portland lost its fifth-straight, 80-69 in southern California to Pepperdine.  Both teams will be in action again on Thursday, with the Vikings hosting Montana and the Pilots on the road at Saint Mary's. 

Wilson Gives Up Starting Spot in Pro Bowl

(Orlando, FL)  --  Russell Wilson didn't start the Pro Bowl, despite what the voting and the depth chart may have indicated.  The Seahawks quarterback gave up his starting spot to New Orleans Saints signal caller Drew Brees.  For the game, Wilson finished 5-for-11 for 78 yards and a touchdown in the NFC's 38-33 loss.  After the game, he told Pro Bowl MVP Lamar Jackson that he was proud of him. 

Number-13 Oregon Outlasts USC In Double Overtime

(Eugene, OR)  --  Chris Duarte scored 30 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as number-13 Oregon outlasted USC 79-70 in double overtime.  Payton Pritchard scored 24 for the Ducks.  Oregon improves to 16-and-4 and hosts UCLA on Sunday.

Trail Blazers Fall To Mavericks

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored a game-high 47 points but the Trail Blazers fell 133-125 to the Mavericks at home.  Trevor Ariza added 21 points in defeat while Gary Trent Junior scored 20.  Portland drops to 19-and-27.  The Blazers will host the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.

NFL Pro Bowl Is Sunday

(Seattle, WA)  --  The NFL Pro Bowl is Sunday in Orlando.  The NFC will square off with the AFC.  The Seahawks' coaching staff is leading the NFC.  Russell Wilson and Shaquill Griffin are expected to participate in the game.  Bobby Wagner is out due to a knee injury.

Trail Blazers Host Mavericks Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers return to the hardwood tonight.  Portland will host the Dallas Mavericks.  The Trail Blazers are coming off a 129-124 overtime over the Warriors on MLK Day.  Portland is 19-and-26.

Nurkic Returns To Practice

(Tualatin, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers got even more good news as center Jusuf Nurkic returned to practice for the first time since suffering a serious leg injury last season.  Nurkic took part in 4-on-4 and 5-on-5 drills.  According to The Athletic, there is still no set return date for Nurkic.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State will also be on the hardwood tonight.  The Beavers will play host to the visiting UCLA Bruins.  Oregon State is 12-and-6 on the season.

Seahawks' Representatives Preparing For Pro Bowl

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Seahawks are having a good time down in Orlando.  The Pro Bowl representatives from the club are getting ready for Sunday's battle between the NFC and AFC.  The Seattle coaching staff is leading the NFC.  Seahawks players expected to participate in the game include quarterback Russell Wilson and cornerback Shaquill Griffin.

Moorhead Named Oregon's New Offensive Coordinator

(Eugene, OR)  --  Joe Moorhead is officially the Ducks' new offensive coordinator.  The former Mississippi State coach went 14-and-12 in Starkville.  He led Penn State's offense as coordinator from 2016-17, leading it to a 21-and-5 record, averaging 39-point-4 points per game.  He replaces Marcus Arroyo, who left to become head coach at UNLV.

Trail Blazers Return To Action Tomorrow

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will be back in action tomorrow night when they take on the Dallas Mavericks at the Moda Center.  Portland is coming off a dramatic overtime win against the Golden State Warriors where Damian Lillard set not just a career-high, but a franchise record by scoring 61 points.  At 19-and-26, the Blazers will stay home Sunday to host the Pacers. 

Wagner To Miss Pro Bowl

(Undated)  --  Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner will not play in the Pro Bowl on Sunday.  He will rest his ailing knee, but it won't require surgery.  Wagner was one of two Seahawks named to the initial NFC team, the other being Russell Wilson.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks continue Pac-12 play as they welcome USC to Eugene tomorrow before hosting UCLA on Sunday.  Meanwhile, the Beavers will host to the Bruins in Corvallis tomorrow before they welcome the Trojans to town Saturday.

Jeter, Walker Named To Hall of Fame; Vizquel Most Noteworthy Mariner

(Cooperstown, NY)  -- Two players are going to be immortalized in Cooperstown.  The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced its 2020 class on Tuesday.  The inductees include shortstop Derek Jeter and outfielder Larry Walker.  Shortstop Omar Vizquel received 209 votes, good for 52-point-6 percent of the vote, by far the most for a former Mariner.  Cliff Lee received two votes, Raul Ibanez received one, and Chone Figgins received no votes.

Lillard's Historic Night Lifts Trail Blazers Over Warriors

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored a career-high and franchise-record 61 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Warriors 129-124 in overtime in Portland.  Lillard also had 10 rebounds and seven assists while Hassan Whiteside had 17 points, 21 rebounds and six blocks for Portland.  The Blazers snapped a two-game losing streak to get to 19-and-26.  They continue Thursday hosting the Mavericks.

Braves Sign "King Felix" To Minor-League Deal

(Cumberland, GA)  --  The Braves are hoping to strike lightning in a bottle with the signing of longtime Mariners ace Felix Hernandez to a minor-league deal.  It includes an invite to big league camp for the 33-year-old.  "King Felix" finished 1-and-8 with a 6.40 ERA in 15 starts last year.

Blazers Trade Bazemore To Kings

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers have traded Kent Bazemore and Anthony Tolliver to Sacramento in a deal that sheds nearly 13 million dollars in salary.  The Kings will return Trevor Ariza, Wenyen Gabriel and Caleb Swanigan to Portland, whose luxury tax bill drops to seven million.  Sacramento will also receive two second-round draft picks in the move.  Bazemore and Tolliver are both on expiring contracts and Ariza has a partial guarantee of 1-point-8 million dollars for next year. 

Beavers Fall To Wazzu on The Road

(Pullman, WA)  --  Tres Tinkle had 22 points but the Beavers came up short against Washington State in Pullman Saturday.  Ethan Thompson had 14 and Kylor Kelley had 11 points as Oregon State fell to 12-and-6.  They'll be back in action Thursday as Pac-12 action resumes against UCLA in Corvallis. 

Ducks Survive In Seattle Over Washington

(Seattle, WA)  --  Payton Prichard Scored 22 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Ducks survived against Washington 64-61 in overtime in Seattle Saturday.  Chandler Lawson scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds off the bench as Oregon ran its record to 15-and-4.  The Ducks will be back in action Thursday as Pac-12 play resumes against USC in Eugene. 

Thorns Become First Team To Draft Number One, Two Overall in NWSL College Draft

(Portland, OR)  --  The Thorns took Stanford standout Sophia Smith with the number one overall pick in the NWSL draft Thursday.  The 19-year-old will be joined by Washington State forward Morgan Weaver, who was selected number two overall.  Portland also acquired defender Christen Westphal from Reign FC in exchange for a fourth round pick, the 34th overall.

(Pullman, WA)  --  Payton Pritchard scored 22 points but number-eight Oregon fell 72-61 at Washington State.  Chris Duarete scored 15 in the loss while Shakur Juiston added seven points and seven rebounds.  The Ducks drop to 14-and-4 and visit Washington tomorrow.

Oregon Football Schedule Released

(Eugene, OR)  --  The defending Pac-12 Champions now know their 2020 schedule.  Oregon will open the season at home against North Dakota State on September 5th.  Oregon will begin conference play on the road against Colorado on September 26th.

Pac-12 Play Resumes Thursday

(Undated)  --  The Ducks and Beavers will resume conference play tomorrow night in the state of Washington.  At 14-and-3, Oregon will be in Pullman Thursday to take on Washington State while 12-and-4 Oregon State will be in Seattle to take on Washington.  On Saturday, the two teams will switch locations as the Ducks will visit the Huskies and the Beavers will visit the Cougars.

Trail Blazers Take On Rockets In Houston Tonight

(Houston, TX)  --  The Trail Blazers will hit the road tonight as they take on the Rockets in Houston.  Portland won the last time out, beating the Hornets 115-112 at the Moda Center.  The Blazers are 17-and-24 and are 11-and-a-half games behind Utah, which has won 10-straight.  After tonight, they'll visit the Mavericks in Dallas Friday and the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Saturday night.

On the NACC men’s scoreboard last night…#3 Duke suffered its second loss in 17 games losing at Clemson, 79-72. 

6th ranked Kansas bounced back after their loss to Baylor and defeated Oklahoma in Norman, 66-52. 

7th ranked San Diego State remains unbeaten at 18-and-0 as the Aztecs won at Fresno state, 64-55. 

Louisville, West Virginia, and Villanova were other top-ranked winners. And, Nevada held off Wyoming, 68-67

 

Tonight, #2 Baylor entertains Iowa State, 5th ranked Butler hosts Seton Hall, 10th ranked Kentucky visits South Carolina.

WNBA, Players Association Reach Agreement on New CBA

(Undated)  --  The WNBA and the players' union announced a tentative labor agreement Tuesday.  Under the new collective bargaining agreenment, players compensation will exceed six figures for the first time.  The deal also includes improvement in maternity and child care benefits, enhanced travel standards and an avenue to equitable revenue sharing, all of which positions the WNBA as a progressive leader at a time when female athletes around the world are demanding better pay and treatment from their leagues.  The WNBA said it aims to make the league the top priority for players who play abroad.

Seahawks Sign Six From Practice Squad To Futures Contracts

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks signed six players to futures contracts, which secures their rights for next season. All ended the season on Seattle's practice squad, which dissolves once a team's season ends. The six players are cornerback Brian Allen, receiver Penny Hart, linebacker Sutton Smith, defensive tackle Soto Shakir, linebacker Pita Taumoepenu, and receiver Cody Thompson.

(Undated)  -- Elsewhere in college basketball, Holland Woods scored 18 points but Portland State fell to Montana 85-70 in Missoula.  On Thursday, the Beavers will visit Washington while the Pilots will host Pacific.  On Saturday, the Vikings will host Idaho State. 

On the women's side, a big shake up in the Top-10 as South Carolina takes over the #1 spot followed by Baylor, Stanford, U-Conn, and Louisville.  Oregon drops to #5, followed by UCLA and Oregon State.

Ducks Up One Spot in Latest Poll

(Eugene, OR)  --  After back-to-back wins over the teams from Arizona, the Ducks have risen one spot in the Coaches Poll to number eight this week.  Oregon topped the Wildcats 74-73 in overtime and the Sun Devils 78-69 to move to 14-and-3.  The Ducks resume Pac-12 play this week on the road to visit the Cougars in Pullman on Thursday and the Huskies in Seattle on Saturday. 

Trail Blazers Best Hornets

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored 30 points, including three in the final 17-point-3 seconds, as the Trail Blazers beat the Hornets 115-112 at the Moda Center to snap their two-game skid.  Lillard also had nine assists.  C.J. McCollum had 27 points and Carmelo Anthony had 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the win.  Anthony Tolliver contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench.  Portland will hit the road for three games starting with the Rockets in Houston tomorrow night. 

Clowney To Have Surgery On Core Muscle

(Renton, WA)  --  Jadaveon Clowney will have surgery on his core-muscle injury within the next week or so, according to Seahawks head coach  Pete Carroll.  He said Seattle would love to have the impending free agent back.  Clowney played 13 games for the Seahawks, making three sacks and 21 tackles and an interception in 2019.  Carroll said Clowney loves the area and wants to be here.  "He's a terrific football player and he had a big impact on us," Carroll said.

Blazers Face Hornets Tonight at Home

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will be back in action tonight as they take on the Hornets at the Moda Center.  Portland has lost two-straight and eight-of-10.  After their game with Charlotte Monday, they'll hit the road for three games when they face off against the Rockets in Houston, the Mavs in Dallas, and the Thunder in Oklahoma City this week. 

Women's College Basketball Roundup

On the college hardwood both the Number 2 and Number 3 nationally ranked women's teams suffered losses; both to the hands of Arizona State.  The Sun Devils upset the Lady Ducks of Oregon on Friday night and , yesterday, Oregon State lost it's first game at ASU.

Ducks Handle Arizona State At Home

(Eugene, OR)  --  Payton Prichard scored 29 points and pulled down six rebounds as the ninth-ranked Ducks beat Arizona State 78-69 in Eugene.  Chris Duarte added 20 points while Shakur Juiston had 11 points and nine rebounds in the win, moving Oregon to 14-and-3.  They'll be back at work Thursday when they visit Washington State in Pullman.

Packers Fight Off Seahawks

(Green Bay, WI)  --  The Packers held off a late rally from the Seahawks to earn a 28-23 win in the Divisional Playoff round from Green Bay.  The Packers will visit the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.  Russell Wilson guided three touchdown drives in the second half for Seattle, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.  Marshawn Lynch ran for two touchdowns as the season ends for the Seahawks. 

College Basketball Roundup

(Undated)  --  Elsewhere in college basketball, Holland Woods scored 30 points, including a layup with two seconds left to push Portland State past Montana State 77-76 on Saturday.  The Vikings will be at Montana tonight.  Portland got 16 points from Malcolm Porter Saturday in a 96-70 loss to BYU in Utah.  The 9-and-9 Pilots will be back in action Thursday when they host Pacific. 

Oregon State Tops Number-24 Arizona

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Tres Tinkle scored 20 points as Oregon State topped number-24 Arizona 82-65 in Corvallis.  Five Beavers scored in double figures.  Ethan Thompson added 18 for Oregon State.  The Beavers move to 12-and-4 and will visit Washington on Thursday.

Latest NBA All-Star Game Vote Totals Released

(New York, NY)  --  The latest NBA All-Star Game vote totals have been released.  Damian Lillard is third among Western Conference guards with close to 700-thousand votes.  Carmelo Anthony is eighth among frontcourt players with just a shade over 520-thousand votes.  The game takes place in Chicago on February 16th.

Trail Blazers Blasted By Timberwolves

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  Damian Lillard scored 20 points to pace the Trail Blazers, who fell 116-102 to the Timberwolves in Minneapolis.  Hassan Whiteside had 15 points and 14 rebounds in the setback.  The Blazers have lost seven-of-nine.  Portland is 16-and-23 and will host the Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow.

Number-Nine Oregon Clips 24th-Ranked Arizona In Overtime

(Eugene, OR)  --  Will Richardson scored 21 points as number-nine Oregon clipped 24th-ranked Arizona 74-73 in overtime.  Payton Pritchard added 18 for the Ducks while Chris Duarte scored 17.  Oregon moves to 13-and-3 and will host Arizona State tomorrow.

Seahawks Get Ready For Packers

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks continue to get ready for Sunday's NFC Divisional Round showdown against the Packers in Green Bay.  Seattle held out tackles Duane Brown and George Fant, guard Mike Iupati and defensive end Ziggy Ansah.  Jadeveon Clowney was limited in practice.  The winner will advance to the NFC Championship Game.

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  The Trail Blazers will return to action tonight.  Portland will visit the Minnesota Timberwolves.  The Trail Blazers are coming off a 101-99 win at the Toronto Raptors.  Portland is 16-and-22 and returns home Saturday to face Milwaukee.

Seahawks Continue To Prep For Packers

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are hard at work as they get ready for their NFC Divisional Round battle at the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.  Tackle Duane Brown once again didn't practice for Seattle.  Brown has missed the last three games with a knee injury.  Guard Mike Lupati also did not participate in practice because of a neck issue.  Defensive end Ziggy Ansah was limited.  A win would put Seattle back in the NFC Championship Game.

Beavers' Coach Smith Lands Three-Year Extension

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State has given Jonathan Smith a three-year contract extension, locking the football coach up through the 2025 season.  He had signed a five-year deal when hired in December 2017 and still had three years left on his original deal.  According to The Oregonian, his original contract paid him one-point-nine million dollars per season through 2022.  Smith led the Beavers to a 5-and-7 record this year after the team went 2-and-10 in 2018.

'Melo Lifts Trail Blazers Over Raptors

(Toronto, Ontario)  --  Carmelo Anthony made a 17-footer with 4.1 seconds remaining to give the Trail Blazers the 101-99 win over the Raptors in Toronto.  Anthony finished with a team-high 28 points while Damian Lillard had 20.  Hassan Whiteside had 14 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks in the win, Portland's second in three games.  They'll wrap up their road trip tomorrow when they visit Timberwolves in Minnesota.

XFL Announces Number of Unique Rules

(Undated)  --  The XFL announced several rules publicly Tuesday designed to keep the game going.  Among the rules, the league will have options for extra points worth one, two or three points. It will allow double forward passes behind the line of scrimmage.  Halftime will only be 10 minutes, each team will only have two timeouts, receivers will only need one foot in bounds for a catch, and the clock won't stop on out of bounds or incomplete passes.

Beast Mode Activated? Carroll To Use Lynch More

(Renton, WA)  --  Pete Carroll intends to activate Beast Mode Sunday.  The Seahawks head coach said on his morning radio show appearance he intends to use Marshawn Lynch more against the Packers in the second round of the playoffs.  Lynch played just 18 snaps Sunday against Philadelphia and has 41 overall since re-signing with the team.  Meanwhile, rookie Travis Homer has had 94 snaps.  However, Lynch has found the end zone in each of the two games since returning to the NFL.

Ducks Drop in Latest Poll

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks fell three spots in Monday's Coaches Poll to number nine after a 1-and-1 week.  Oregon lost its Pac-12 opener in Colorado to the Buffaloes 74-65 Thursday, but bounced back to beat Utah 69-64 Saturday.  At 12-and-3, they'll be back in action Thursday when they host number-24 Arizona.

Blazers Visit Raptors Tonight

(Toronto, Ontario)  --  The Trail Blazers will be north of the border when they visit the Raptors in Toronto tonight.  After dropping their decision Sunday against the Heat, Portland has lost six-of-seven and is 15-and-22 on the year.  Guard CJ McCollum is listed as day-to-day after missing the Miami game with an upper respitory infection.  After their game Tuesday, the Blazers will wrap up their five-game road trip Thursday night against the Timberwolves in Minnesota. 

Seahawks Gearing Up For Packers

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks will be on the road for the second-straight week as they travel to Green Bay Sunday to take on the Packers in the NFC Divisional round of the playoffs.  According to the Athletic, Jaron Brown is expected to play Sunday.  Meanwhile, Ziggy Ansah needs to be evaluated further after suffering a stinger in his neck on Sunday, according to head coach Pete Carroll.  Seattle advanced by beating the Eagles 17-9 in Philadelphia in the wild card round.

Blazers Fall To Heat In Miami

(Miami, FL)  --  The Trail Blazers fell behind in the first quarter and couldn't catch up, losing to the Heat 122-111 in Miami.  Damian Lillard had 34 points and 12 assists while Hassan Whiteside posted 21 points and 18 rebounds.  CJ McCollum missed the game with an illness.  Portland has lost six-of-seven and will travel to Toronto to face the Raptors tomorrow night. 

Beavers Top Buffaloes

(Boulder, CO)  --  Ethan Thompson scored 24 points as the Beavers topped the Buffaloes 76-68 in Boulder.  Tres Tinkle added 12, including the go-ahead layup for Oregon State while Zach Reichle had 19.  The Beavers will be back at it Thursday night when they play host to Arizona State.

Ducks Bounce Back, Top Utah

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Ducks bounced back from their loss to top Utah 69-64 in Salt Lake City Saturday.  Payton Prichard scored 19 points and had five assists while Chris Duarte had 14.  Oregon will be back in action Thursday when they host Arizona in Eugene.

Wilson, Seahawks Top Eagles In Divisional Round

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Russell Wilson threw for 325 yards and a touchdown as the Seahawks held on to beat the Eagles in Philadelphia in the NFC Divisional Playoff round.  DK Metcalf hauled in seven catches for 160 yards and a score while Tyler Lockett had four grabs for 62 yards.  Marshawn Lynch had a touchdown run in the second quarter to help put Seattle up early.  The 'Hawks will be in Green Bay to battle the Packers in the next round of the playoffs Sunday.

Ducks Top Badgers In Rose Bowl

(Pasadena, CA)  --  Justin Herbert scampered for a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter as Oregon clipped Wisconsin 28-27 in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.  Herbert ran for three touchdowns and also threw for 138 yards and a pick.  Thomas Graham Jr. had an interception for Oregon, which finishes 12-and-2.

Trail Blazers Crushed By Knicks

(New York, NY)  --  Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points in his return to Madison Square Garden, but the Trail Blazers fell 117-93 to the Knicks.  Hassan Whiteside and C.J. McCollum each had 17 points in defeat.  Portland drops to 14-and-21 and will visit the Wizards tomorrow.

Seahawks Prep For Playoff Game Against Eagles

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are preparing for their playoff game on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.  Duane Brown and Jadeveon Clowney were among those who did not participate in practice. while Quandre Diggs was limited.  Tight end Luke Willson was a full participant.

(Boulder, CO)  --  Number-six Oregon basketball opens conference play tonight.  The 11-and-2 Ducks will visit Colorado. Elsewhere in college basketball tonight, number-one Gonzaga will be at the Portland Pilots, Oregon State is at Utah and Portland State travels to Idaho.
