(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Trail Blazers will visit the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.  It's the Lakers' first game since the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others this past Sunday.  The Lakers and Clippers game set for earlier this week had been postponed.  The Trail Blazers have won two straight and are 21-and-27.

(Stanford, CA)  --  Jarod Lucas scored 21 points as Oregon State took down Stanford 68-63 on the road.  Tres Tinkle added 15 for the Beavers.  Oregon State improves to 13-and-8 and visits Cal tomorrow.

(Berkeley, CA)  --  Payton Pritchard scored 21 points as number-12 Oregon downed Cal 77-72 in Berkeley.  Chris Duarte added 19 for the Ducks while Will Richardson scored 15.  The Ducks improve to 18-and-4 and will have a showdown with Stanford on the road tomorrow.

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic has reportedly suffered a setback in his recovery from the horrific leg injury he suffered last season.  In an interview with 1080 The Fan, The Athletic's Jason Quick stated Nurkic suffered a calf strain after his return to full-court practice.  It isn't clear how serious the injury is.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Rumors are swirling about the name of the Seattle NHL expansion franchise.  Reports are the team could be named the Seattle Kraken.  The Seattle NHL franchise took to social media to explain amid the rumors that it is taking its time to pick the right name.  The Seattle team will begin play in the 2021-22 season.

(Everett, WA)  --  15-year-old Coco Gauff will be joining Serena Williams as part of the U.S. team playing Latvia in a Fed Cup qualifier February 7th at Everett's Angel of the Winds Arena.  The United States Tennis Association announced Williams would be on the team in Everett, and Gauff, Sofia Kenin, Alison Riske and Bethanie Mattek-Sands will join her on the five-member team.  Gauff reached the fourth-round of Wimbledon last year and the fourth round of the Australian Open this year before losing to Kenin.  Kenin is on to the semis after her win over Ons Jabeur.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks moved up one rung to number 12 in the basketball Coaches Poll.  Oregon will take a 17-and-4 record into a Thursday game at Cal.  Meanwhile, the Beavers will also be in action, taking on the Cardinal on Thursday in Palo Alto.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The head of the KeyArena project is denying reports Amazon is the leader in the clubhouse for the naming rights to the remodeled Seattle arena.  Oak View Group CEO Tim Leiweke last week dismissed the report as "speculation."  Sports Business Daily and the Puget Sound Business Journal, citing unnamed sources, said KeyArena project developer OVG and the team are seeking annual rights of roughly 14 million dollars over an unspecified period of time and want a deal by June 1. The outlet did not mention which other two companies are involved.  NHL Seattle deferred all public comment to OVG and Leiweke. Amazon did not comment to the Seattle Times.

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard went off for 50 points and 13 assists as the Blazers topped the Pacers 139-129 in Portland.  CJ McCollum added 28 points for the Blazers, who have won two-of-three to improve to 20-and-27 overall.  Both teams paid tribute to Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter crash Sunday, with 24- and eight-second violations.  Portland will wrap up its four-game homestand against the Rockets on Wednesday night. 

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Beavers got 17 points from Tres Tinkle but fell 75-55 to USC in Corvallis Saturday.  It was their fourth-straight loss.  Kylor Kelley scored 10 as they fell to 12-and-8.  Oregon State will be on the road when Pac-12 play resumes on Thursday.  They'll be in Palo Alto Thursday night when they take on Stanford and then Berkeley Saturday when they visit Cal. 

(Eugene, OR)  --  The 13th ranked Ducks carried a big first-half lead to victory, beating UCLA in Eugene 96-75 Sunday.  Chris Duarte had 24 points, six steals, five assists, and six rebounds, while Payton Pritchard had 19 points.  Oregon, now 17-and-4, will be on the road when Pac-12 play resumes on Thursday when they visit Cal in Berkeley and then Stanford in Palo Alto Saturday.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will host three games at Providence Park for the preseason against MLS opponents.  They'll host the Vancouver Whitecaps February 16th, Minnesota United February 19th, and New England Revolution February 22nd. 

(Mobile, AL)  --  Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert won the Senior Bowl MVP honor, completing nine of 12 passes for 83 yards and a score for the South.  Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan said Herbert will be a really good NFL player after coaching him in Mobile.   Herbert's performance, however, in all likelihood will not sway the Bengals from taking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow first overall in the draft.

(Orlando, FL)  --  Russell Wilson didn't start the Pro Bowl, despite what the voting and the depth chart may have indicated.  The Seahawks quarterback gave up his starting spot to New Orleans Saints signal caller Drew Brees.  For the game, Wilson finished 5-for-11 for 78 yards and a touchdown in the NFC's 38-33 loss.  After the game, he told Pro Bowl MVP Lamar Jackson that he was proud of him. 

(Eugene, OR)  --  Chris Duarte scored 30 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as number-13 Oregon outlasted USC 79-70 in double overtime.  Payton Pritchard scored 24 for the Ducks.  Oregon improves to 16-and-4 and hosts UCLA on Sunday.

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored a game-high 47 points but the Trail Blazers fell 133-125 to the Mavericks at home.  Trevor Ariza added 21 points in defeat while Gary Trent Junior scored 20.  Portland drops to 19-and-27.  The Blazers will host the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.

(Cooperstown, NY)  -- Two players are going to be immortalized in Cooperstown.  The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced its 2020 class on Tuesday.  The inductees include shortstop Derek Jeter and outfielder Larry Walker.  Shortstop Omar Vizquel received 209 votes, good for 52-point-6 percent of the vote, by far the most for a former Mariner.  Cliff Lee received two votes, Raul Ibanez received one, and Chone Figgins received no votes.

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored a career-high and franchise-record 61 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Warriors 129-124 in overtime in Portland.  Lillard also had 10 rebounds and seven assists while Hassan Whiteside had 17 points, 21 rebounds and six blocks for Portland.  The Blazers snapped a two-game losing streak to get to 19-and-26.  They continue Thursday hosting the Mavericks.

(Cumberland, GA)  --  The Braves are hoping to strike lightning in a bottle with the signing of longtime Mariners ace Felix Hernandez to a minor-league deal.  It includes an invite to big league camp for the 33-year-old.  "King Felix" finished 1-and-8 with a 6.40 ERA in 15 starts last year.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers have traded Kent Bazemore and Anthony Tolliver to Sacramento in a deal that sheds nearly 13 million dollars in salary.  The Kings will return Trevor Ariza, Wenyen Gabriel and Caleb Swanigan to Portland, whose luxury tax bill drops to seven million.  Sacramento will also receive two second-round draft picks in the move.  Bazemore and Tolliver are both on expiring contracts and Ariza has a partial guarantee of 1-point-8 million dollars for next year.

(Undated)  --  The WNBA and the players' union announced a tentative labor agreement Tuesday.  Under the new collective bargaining agreenment, players compensation will exceed six figures for the first time.  The deal also includes improvement in maternity and child care benefits, enhanced travel standards and an avenue to equitable revenue sharing, all of which positions the WNBA as a progressive leader at a time when female athletes around the world are demanding better pay and treatment from their leagues.  The WNBA said it aims to make the league the top priority for players who play abroad.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks signed six players to futures contracts, which secures their rights for next season. All ended the season on Seattle's practice squad, which dissolves once a team's season ends. The six players are cornerback Brian Allen, receiver Penny Hart, linebacker Sutton Smith, defensive tackle Soto Shakir, linebacker Pita Taumoepenu, and receiver Cody Thompson.

McCollum had 27 points and Carmelo Anthony had 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the win.  Anthony Tolliver contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench.  Portland will hit the road for three games starting with the Rockets in Houston tomorrow night. 

(Renton, WA)  --  Jadaveon Clowney will have surgery on his core-muscle injury within the next week or so, according to Seahawks head coach  Pete Carroll.  He said Seattle would love to have the impending free agent back.  Clowney played 13 games for the Seahawks, making three sacks and 21 tackles and an interception in 2019.  Carroll said Clowney loves the area and wants to be here.  "He's a terrific football player and he had a big impact on us," Carroll said.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will be back in action tonight as they take on the Hornets at the Moda Center.  Portland has lost two-straight and eight-of-10.  After their game with Charlotte Monday, they'll hit the road for three games when they face off against the Rockets in Houston, the Mavs in Dallas, and the Thunder in Oklahoma City this week. 

On the college hardwood both the Number 2 and Number 3 nationally ranked women's teams suffered losses; both to the hands of Arizona State.  The Sun Devils upset the Lady Ducks of Oregon on Friday night and , yesterday, Oregon State lost it's first game at ASU.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Payton Prichard scored 29 points and pulled down six rebounds as the ninth-ranked Ducks beat Arizona State 78-69 in Eugene.  Chris Duarte added 20 points while Shakur Juiston had 11 points and nine rebounds in the win, moving Oregon to 14-and-3.  They'll be back at work Thursday when they visit Washington State in Pullman.

(Green Bay, WI)  --  The Packers held off a late rally from the Seahawks to earn a 28-23 win in the Divisional Playoff round from Green Bay.  The Packers will visit the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.  Russell Wilson guided three touchdown drives in the second half for Seattle, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.  Marshawn Lynch ran for two touchdowns as the season ends for the Seahawks.

(New York, NY)  --  The latest NBA All-Star Game vote totals have been released.  Damian Lillard is third among Western Conference guards with close to 700-thousand votes.  Carmelo Anthony is eighth among frontcourt players with just a shade over 520-thousand votes.  The game takes place in Chicago on February 16th.

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  Damian Lillard scored 20 points to pace the Trail Blazers, who fell 116-102 to the Timberwolves in Minneapolis.  Hassan Whiteside had 15 points and 14 rebounds in the setback.  The Blazers have lost seven-of-nine.  Portland is 16-and-23 and will host the Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks continue to get ready for Sunday's NFC Divisional Round showdown against the Packers in Green Bay.  Seattle held out tackles Duane Brown and George Fant, guard Mike Iupati and defensive end Ziggy Ansah.  Jadeveon Clowney was limited in practice.  The winner will advance to the NFC Championship Game.

(Undated)  --  Elsewhere in college basketball action, Oregon State fell 82-76 at home to Arizona State.  Tomorrow, Portland is at BYU while Portland State visits Montana State.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Number-nine Oregon is back in action tonight, hosting 24th-ranked Arizona in a Pac-12 showdown.  The Ducks are 12-and-3, while the Wildcats are 11-and-3.

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  The Trail Blazers will return to action tonight.  Portland will visit the Minnesota Timberwolves.  The Trail Blazers are coming off a 101-99 win at the Toronto Raptors.  Portland is 16-and-22 and returns home Saturday to face Milwaukee.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are hard at work as they get ready for their NFC Divisional Round battle at the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.  Tackle Duane Brown once again didn't practice for Seattle.  Brown has missed the last three games with a knee injury.  Guard Mike Lupati also did not participate in practice because of a neck issue.  Defensive end Ziggy Ansah was limited.  A win would put Seattle back in the NFC Championship Game.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State has given Jonathan Smith a three-year contract extension, locking the football coach up through the 2025 season.  He had signed a five-year deal when hired in December 2017 and still had three years left on his original deal.  According to The Oregonian, his original contract paid him one-point-nine million dollars per season through 2022.  Smith led the Beavers to a 5-and-7 record this year after the team went 2-and-10 in 2018.

(Toronto, Ontario)  --  Carmelo Anthony made a 17-footer with 4.1 seconds remaining to give the Trail Blazers the 101-99 win over the Raptors in Toronto.  Anthony finished with a team-high 28 points while Damian Lillard had 20.  Hassan Whiteside had 14 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks in the win, Portland's second in three games.  They'll wrap up their road trip tomorrow when they visit Timberwolves in Minnesota.

(Undated)  --  The XFL announced several rules publicly Tuesday designed to keep the game going.  Among the rules, the league will have options for extra points worth one, two or three points. It will allow double forward passes behind the line of scrimmage.  Halftime will only be 10 minutes, each team will only have two timeouts, receivers will only need one foot in bounds for a catch, and the clock won't stop on out of bounds or incomplete passes.

(Renton, WA)  --  Pete Carroll intends to activate Beast Mode Sunday.  The Seahawks head coach said on his morning radio show appearance he intends to use Marshawn Lynch more against the Packers in the second round of the playoffs.  Lynch played just 18 snaps Sunday against Philadelphia and has 41 overall since re-signing with the team.  Meanwhile, rookie Travis Homer has had 94 snaps.  However, Lynch has found the end zone in each of the two games since returning to the NFL.

(Undated)  --  In college basketball tomorrow, Oregon will host number 24 Arizona while Oregon State will host Arizona State in Pac-12 action.  Portland will visit BYU Saturday while Portland State will visit Montana State.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks fell three spots in Monday's Coaches Poll to number nine after a 1-and-1 week.  Oregon lost its Pac-12 opener in Colorado to the Buffaloes 74-65 Thursday, but bounced back to beat Utah 69-64 Saturday.  At 12-and-3, they'll be back in action Thursday when they host number-24 Arizona.

(Toronto, Ontario)  --  The Trail Blazers will be north of the border when they visit the Raptors in Toronto tonight.  After dropping their decision Sunday against the Heat, Portland has lost six-of-seven and is 15-and-22 on the year.  Guard CJ McCollum is listed as day-to-day after missing the Miami game with an upper respitory infection.  After their game Tuesday, the Blazers will wrap up their five-game road trip Thursday night against the Timberwolves in Minnesota. 

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks will be on the road for the second-straight week as they travel to Green Bay Sunday to take on the Packers in the NFC Divisional round of the playoffs.  According to the Athletic, Jaron Brown is expected to play Sunday.  Meanwhile, Ziggy Ansah needs to be evaluated further after suffering a stinger in his neck on Sunday, according to head coach Pete Carroll.  Seattle advanced by beating the Eagles 17-9 in Philadelphia in the wild card round.

(Undated)  --  Also in college basketball Thursday, Oregon State will host Arizona State in Pac-12 action.  Portland will visit BYU Saturday while Portland State will visit Montana State.

(Miami, FL)  --  The Trail Blazers fell behind in the first quarter and couldn't catch up, losing to the Heat 122-111 in Miami.  Damian Lillard had 34 points and 12 assists while Hassan Whiteside posted 21 points and 18 rebounds.  CJ McCollum missed the game with an illness.  Portland has lost six-of-seven and will travel to Toronto to face the Raptors tomorrow night. 

(Boulder, CO)  --  Ethan Thompson scored 24 points as the Beavers topped the Buffaloes 76-68 in Boulder.  Tres Tinkle added 12, including the go-ahead layup for Oregon State while Zach Reichle had 19.  The Beavers will be back at it Thursday night when they play host to Arizona State.

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Ducks bounced back from their loss to top Utah 69-64 in Salt Lake City Saturday.  Payton Prichard scored 19 points and had five assists while Chris Duarte had 14.  Oregon will be back in action Thursday when they host Arizona in Eugene.

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Russell Wilson threw for 325 yards and a touchdown as the Seahawks held on to beat the Eagles in Philadelphia in the NFC Divisional Playoff round.  DK Metcalf hauled in seven catches for 160 yards and a score while Tyler Lockett had four grabs for 62 yards.  Marshawn Lynch had a touchdown run in the second quarter to help put Seattle up early.  The 'Hawks will be in Green Bay to battle the Packers in the next round of the playoffs Sunday.

(Undated)  --  Elsewhere in college basketball, Portland State topped San Francisco 76-65 on Saturday while Portland fell 71-69 at Eastern Washington.  The Pilots will be in Utah to face BYU Saturday while the Vikings will visit Montana State.

(Washington, D.C.)  --  The Trail Blazers return to action tonight.  Portland will visit the Washington Wizards.  The Trail Blazers are coming off a 117-93 loss at the Knicks on Wednesday.  Portland is 14-and-21 on the season.

(Boulder, CO)  --  Payton Pritchard scored 21 points but number-six Oregon fell 74-65 to Colorado in Boulder.  Chris Duarte added 10 in the loss for Oregon.  The Ducks drop to 11-and-3 and will visit Utah tomorrow.

(Undated)  --  Elsewhere in college basketball action, Oregon State lost 81-69 at Utah.  Portland fell 85-72 at home to number-one Gonzaga.  Portland State lost 72-61 at Idaho.

(Pasadena, CA)  --  Justin Herbert scampered for a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter as Oregon clipped Wisconsin 28-27 in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.  Herbert ran for three touchdowns and also threw for 138 yards and a pick.  Thomas Graham Jr. had an interception for Oregon, which finishes 12-and-2.

(New York, NY)  --  Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points in his return to Madison Square Garden, but the Trail Blazers fell 117-93 to the Knicks.  Hassan Whiteside and C.J. McCollum each had 17 points in defeat.  Portland drops to 14-and-21 and will visit the Wizards tomorrow.
