OSU Holds Off Cal

(Berkeley, CA)  --  Roman Silva scored 15 points to help Oregon State hold off Cal to win 59-57 in Berkeley.  Ethan Thompson added 12 points and Jarod Lucas had 10 in the win.  The Beavers improve to 12-and-11 and visit Stanford tomorrow.

Oregon Clips Stanford

(Stanford, CA)  --  Oregon drew two fouls in the final nine seconds to clip Stanford 71-68 on the road.  Chris Duarte led with 24 points while Eugene Omoruyi put up 12 points and 10 rebounds.  The Ducks jump to 15-and-5 and visit Cal tomorrow.

Blazers Visit Lakers Tonight

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Trail Blazers are in Los Angeles tonight to face off with LeBron James and the Lakers.  Portland will look to end its three game skid that dropped it to 18-and-13.  The Lakers are 22-and-11.

Wazzu Dropped By Arizona

(Tucson, AZ)  --  TJ Bamba was just on of two Washington State players to score in double digits with 12 as the Cougars were dropped by Arizona 69-53 in Tucson.  Dishon Jackson added 10 points in the loss.  Wazzu will play its last two games at Arizona State starting tomorrow.

Washington Falls To ASU

(Tempe, AZ)  --  Quade Green had 16 points and seven assists but it wasn't enough as Washington fell to Arizona State 80-72 in Tempe.  Jamal Bey added 14 points and six rebounds in the setback.  The Huskies drop to 5-and-19 and close out the season tomorrow at Arizona.

Mariners Open Spring Training Sunday

(Peoria, AZ)  --  The Mariners will open spring training on Sunday afternoon against the Padres in Peoria.  Seattle will host the Indians on Tuesday before visiting the Cubs Wednesday.  The Mariners are allowing 1,960 fans per game at their Peoria stadium. 

Blazers Visit Lakers Tomorrow

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Trail Blazers will look to bounce back when they visit the Lakers in Los Angeles tomorrow night.  Portland has lost three straight, including Tuesday's narrow loss to the Nuggets, to dip to 18-and-13.  The Blazers will return home Monday to host Charlotte.

(Undated)  --  In college basketball action tonight, Oregon will be at Stanford.  5:30 pre-game / 6:00 tip. The Ducks had their five-game streak snapped by number-18 USC to drop to 14-and-5. 

Also tonight, Oregon State will visit Cal, Washington will travel to face Arizona State and Washington State will face Arizona in Tucson.

NBA, Blazers Release Second-Half Of NBA Schedule

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers now know the road they face to get back to the NBA Playoffs.  The NBA released the second-half schedule for the regular season.  The Blazers will return from the All-Star Break to a home game against the Phoenix Suns on March 11th.  The second-half schedule includes two matchups against the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers, who are currently the top two teams in the Western Conference.  Portland also has key games with other West contenders like Denver, Dallas and San Antonio.

Clippers Visit Grizzlies Tonight

(Memphis, TN)  --  The Clippers are on the road tonight.  LA will visit the Grizzlies.  The Clippers have won six-of-eight and are 23-and-10 on the season.

Warriors Top Pacers

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  Stephen Curry scored 24 points as the Warriors topped the Pacers 111-107 in Indianapolis.  Kelly Oubre Jr. added 17 for the Warriors, who improve to 18-and-15.  Golden State will host the Hornets tomorrow.

Jazz Crush Lakers

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  Rudy Gobert and Jordan Clarkson each scored 18 points as the Jazz crushed the Lakers 114-89 in Salt Lake City.  Donovan Mitchell had 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as six players scored in double figures for Utah.  The Jazz lead the NBA at 26-and-6.  LeBron James led the Lakers with 19 points.  Los Angeles falls to 22-and-11.

Trail Blazers Tumble Against Nuggets

(Denver, CO) -- The Trail Blazers' losing streak is at three after a 111-106 setback to the Nuggets in Denver. Damian Lillard led Portland with 25 points and 13 assists. Enes Kanter contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds in defeat. The Blazers are 18-and-13 and will visit the Lakers on Friday.

Tiger Woods Has "Multiple Open Fractures" In Leg After Crash Near L.A.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Golf legend Tiger Woods is recovering from surgery after the SUV he was driving went off the road and rolled yesterday morning in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Doctors at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center inserted a rod and screws in his right leg below the knee to stabilize what they called multiple open fractures in the two main bones in the lower leg. The crash also broke bones in the 45-year-old Woods' right foot and ankle. An L.A. County Sheriff's deputy said he found Woods lucid and still strapped into his seatbelt, trapped in the vehicle that was on its side. Deputy Carlos Gonzales told reporters the seatbelt and the SUV's safety features might have saved Woods' life.

Mariners GM Embarrassed By Mather's Comments

(Peoria, AZ) -- Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto says he's embarrassed by the comments of former club CEO Kevin Mather. Dipoto says players have a right to be upset after Mather disparaged some about their English-speaking ability in a speech to a Rotary Club. Mather resigned Monday.

Blazers' Lillard Named All-Star Reserve

(Undated) -- Damian Lillard is headed back to the NBA All-Star Game. He's been named one of the reserves for the March 7th game in Atlanta, as picked by the league's head coaches. It will be the sixth All-Star appearance in nine seasons for Lillard, who is averaging over 29 points per game.

M's First Full-Squad Workout Complete

(Peoria, AZ) -- The Mariners' first full-squad workout of the spring is complete. Position players joined in yesterday after pitchers and catchers reported to camp last week. The Mariners will open the Cactus League season Sunday against their Peoria co-tenants, the San Diego Padres.

Nanooks' Sommerfield Selected To GNAC All-Academic Team

(Portland, OR) -- Alaska Fairbanks forward Alex Sommerfield is being picked for the 2020-21 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Basketball All-Academic Team. The senior was the lone Nanook selected. Sommerfield is a digital journalism major and has maintained a 4.0 grade-point.

(Phoenix, AZ) -- The Trail Blazers were no match for the Suns, getting trounced 132-100 in Phoenix. Damian Lillard led Portland with 24 points and Enes Kanter corralled 15 rebounds in defeat. The Trail Blazers have lost their last two to fall to 18-and-12. They visit the Nuggets tonight.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Oregon trailed by 21 at the half and couldn't recover in a 72-58 loss at 18th-ranked USC. LJ Figueroa and Eric Williams Jr. each had 14 points for the 23rd-ranked Ducks, who had their five-game winning streak snapped. Oregon is 14-and-5 and will play Thursday at Stanford.

Mariners President/CEO Mather Resigns After Derogatory Comments

(Seattle, WA) -- Mariners CEO Kevin Mather is no longer with the club. The team president resigned after some controversial comments he made to the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club earlier this month. In his speech, Mather complained about the English-speaking skills of some foreign players.

K.J. Wright Not Looking To Give Seahawks Discount

(Renton, WA)  --  Linebacker K.J. Wright wants to return to the Seahawks, but it's got to be on his terms.  He tells CBS Sports Radio he does way too much on the field to take a discount.  Wright is set to become an unrestricted free agent next month.  He's spent his entire career with Seattle.

Seahawks' Iupati Retiring

(Renton, WA) -- Seahawks guard Mike Iupati is calling it a career. The 33-year-old tells the Spokesman-Review his body is telling him it's time to retire. Iupati was a four-time Pro Bowler who spent the last two seasons with Seattle. He also played for San Francisco and Arizona.

UAA Hockey, Gymnastics To Ask Board Of Regents For More Fundraising Time

(Anchorage, AK)  --  The hockey and gymnastics teams for Alaska-Anchorage plan to ask for time to save their programs this week.  They were given until the end of February to raise two years' worth of operating expenses.  Alpine skiing mets its fundraising goal and was reinstated back in December.

Trail Blazers In Phoenix Tonight

(Phoenix, AZ) -- The Trail Blazers are in Phoenix tonight for a matchup against the Suns. Portland has won eight of their last 10 games, sitting at 18-and-11 on the season. Damian Lillard leads the Blazers, averaging 30 points per game. As of Sunday, Jusuf Nurkic, Harry Giles the third, Zach Collins, and CJ McCollum are all out for tonight's matchup.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- James Harden had 37 points and 11 rebounds as the Nets pushed past the Clippers 112-108 in Los Angeles. Kyrie Irving added 28 points for Brooklyn, which went 5-and-0 on its western road trip. DeAndre Jordan posted 13 points and 11 boards as the Nets won their sixth straight overall to get to 20-and-12. Paul George led the Clippers with 34 points. Kawhi Leonard added 29 points and 13 boards as LA fell to 22-and-10.

Blazers Host Wizards Tomorrow

(Portland, OR) -- The Trail Blazers will welcome the Wizards to Portland tomorrow night. The Blazers will look to extend their six-game streak that got them to 18-and-10, which is second in the Northwest behind Utah. Portland will begin a three-game trip starting Monday in Phoenix.

Wazzu Crushes Cal

(Pullman, WA) -- Noah Williams went off for 32 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as Washington State crushed Cal 82-51 in Pullman. Andrej Jakimovski and DJ Rodman scored 11 apiece for the Cougars, who jump to 13-and-10. They will host Stanford tomorrow afternoon.

(Eugene, OR) -- Number 25 Oregon came back from down five at the half to beat Colorado 60-56 in Eugene, getting revenge for its loss to the Buffaloes earlier in the season. Chris Duarte led Oregon with 18 points. The Ducks have won four straight to improve to 13-and-4 and will host Utah tomorrow.

Number One Gonzaga Remains Unbeaten

(Spokane, WA) -- Top-ranked Gonzaga remains undefeated after crushing Saint Mary's 87-65 in Spokane. The Bulldogs are now 21-and-0. They will host San Diego tomorrow in a WCC game.

Washington Rolled Over By Stanford

(Seattle, WA) -- Cole Bajema was one of two Washington players to score in double digits with 13 points as the Huskies were rolled over by Stanford 79-61 in Seattle. Erik Stevenson had 11 points for the Huskies, who fall to 4-and-17. The Huskies will host Cal tomorrow.

Lillard, Blazers Top Pelicans

(New Orleans, LA) -- Damian Lillard hit the go-ahead and-one layup with 16.5-seconds left to lift the Trail Blazers over the Pelicans 126-124 in New Orleans. Lillard finished with a game-high 43 points and 16 assists. Gary Trent Junior chipped in 23 points for Portland, which won its sixth straight to get to 18-and-10. The Blazers host the Wizards Saturday.

Lakers Host Nets Tonight

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Lakers are home tonight. Los Angeles will host James Harden and the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets will be without star forward Kevin Durant. The Lakers are 22-and-7 on the season.

Warriors Take Down Heat In Overtime

(San Francisco, CA) -- Kent Bazemore scored 26 points off the bench as the Warriors took down the visiting Heat 120-112 in overtime. Steph Curry added 25 for Golden State, and Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 23 each. The Warriors improved to 16-and-13 and will visit the Magic tomorrow.

Clippers Fall To Jazz

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Lou Williams scored 16 points, but the Clippers were jolted at home by the league-leading Jazz 114-96. LA was again without Kawhi [[ kah-WHY ]] Leonard and Paul George. The Clippers fell to 21-and-9 and will host the Jazz again tomorrow.

Blazers Outlast Thunder

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  Damian Lillard scored 12 points in the final 4:11 to help the Trail Blazers outlast the Thunder 115-104 in Oklahoma City.  Lillard finished with 31 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.  Gary Trent Junior added 19 points for Portland, which won its fifth straight to get to 17-and-10.  The Blazers will be at the Pelicans tonight.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  A Western Conference heavyweight showdown is happening in LA tonight.  The Clippers will host the Utah Jazz.  LA is 21-and-8 on the season while Utah is a league best 23-and-5.

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  LeBron James scored 30 points as the Lakers took down the Timberwolves 112-104 in Minneapolis.  Dennis Schroder added 24 for Los Angeles.  The Lakers improve to 22-and-7 and host the Nets tomorrow.

Oregon Moves Back Into Poll

(Eugene, OR) -- Oregon basketball has moved back into the Coaches Poll at number 25. The Ducks have won their past three games, all against Pac-12 opponents, to get to 12-and-4 and 7-and-3 in conference play. They fell out of the poll at the beginning of the month. Oregon will host Colorado on Thursday. Gonzaga remains number one and will host Saint Mary's on Thursday.

Washington Stuns Wazzu

(Pullman, WA) -- Marcus Tsohonis made the go-ahead jumper with six seconds left as Washington stunned Washington State 65-63 in Pullman. Tsohonis finished with a game-high 29 points. Erik Stevenson added 18 points for the Huskies, who ended their five-game skid to get to 4-and-16. The Cougars drop to 12-and-10. Both teams are back in action Thursday.

Clippers take down Heat

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Marcus Morris Sr. scored 32 points as the Clippers took down the Heat 125-118 in Los Angeles. Ivica Zubac scored 22 points off the bench for LA. Lou Williams added 18 for the Clippers, who improve to 21-and-8. Jimmy Butler recorded a triple-double with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in defeat. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro each scored 27 for Miami, which fell to 11-and-16.

(Tucson, AZ) -- Chris Duarte hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 17 seconds left to help Oregon clip Arizona 63-61 on Saturday in Tucson. Eugene Omoruyi led the Ducks with 19 pointsm while Duarte finished with 10 points. The Ducks improve to 12-and-4.

(Dallas, TX) -- Luka Doncic missed the potential game-tying three as the Trail Blazers held off the Mavericks to win 121-118 in Dallas. Damian Lillard had 34 points and 11 assists, while Gary Trent Junior added 17 in the win. Portland has won four straight to get to 16-and-10. The Blazers continue tomorrow at the Thunder.

Paxton Thrilled To Be Returning To Mariners

(Seattle, WA) -- James Paxton is returning to the Mariners. He posted on social media that he's thrilled to be going back to where his career began. The lefty agreed to a reported one-year, 8.5-million dollar contract on Saturday. Paxton spent the last two years with the Yankees after six in Seattle.

Joel Embiid [[ em-BEED ]] scored a game-high 35 points in the setback. Ben Simmons almost had a triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists for the Sixers, who dip to 18-and-8.

(Pullman, WA) -- Isaac Bonton scored a game-high 26 points as Washington State held off UCLA to win 81-73 in Pullman. Aljaz Kunc logged 13 points and eight rebounds for the Cougars, who jump to 12-and-8. Wazzu will host USC tomorrow.

Alex Bowman Qualifies For Daytona 500 Pole

(Daytona Beach, FL)  --  Alex Bowman is heading to the pole position for Sunday's 63rd running of the Daytona 500.  It is Bowman's second Daytona pole.  Bowman will be joined by teammate William Byron on the front row.  It's a new look for Bowman this season as he's behind the wheel of the number 48 car, which became available after seven-time Cup champ Jimmie Johnson retired.

NBA Working On Slam Dunk Contest Plans During All-Star Game

(Undated)  --  The NBA is working on a plan to add the slam dunk competition to next month's All-Star Game in Atlanta.  ESPN reports the league is progressing with a plan to have the dunk contest during halftime of the March 7th game.  The three-point shootout and skills competition are also expected to be part of the action.  Finalized details are expected to be announced later this week.

Warriors Cruise Past Spurs

(San Antonio, TX)  --  Stephen Curry put up 32 points to lead the Warriors, who cruised past the Spurs 114-91 in San Antonio.  Eric Paschall chipped in with 15 points off the bench and Andrew Wiggins added 14.  Golden State ended a two-game skid to jump to 13-and-12.

Wilson Says He's Getting 'Hit Too Much'

(Seattle, WA)  --  Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is expressing frustration for the number of times he's getting hit.  Wilson has been sacked almost 400 times, including 47 last season, and says everyone needs to get better.  The nine-year veteran also says he wants to be more involved in the team's personnel decisions.  Wilson says better pass protection would make a big difference going forward.

OSU Routed By Colorado

(Boulder, CO)  --  Ethan Thompson was the only Oregon State player to score in double digits with 10 as the Beavers were routed by Colorado 78-49 in Boulder.  Roman Silva added seven points in the setback.  OSU drops to 10-and-8 and will visit Arizona on Thursday.

(Provo, UT)  --  Gonzaga is still number one in the basketball Coaches Poll.  The Zags beat BYU 82-71 last night in Provo, Utah.  Jalen Suggs scored 20 points in the win, while Drew Timme had 20 points and 13 rebounds.  Gonzaga moves to 19-and-0 and 10-and-0 in the West Coast Conference.

Oregon Visits ASU Thursday

(Tempe, AZ)  --  Oregon will be in the desert this Thursday to take on Arizona State.  The Ducks cruised past Washington over the weekend to jump to 10-and-4.  They'll remain down south to play Arizona on Saturday.

MLB Changing Baseballs To Reduce Home Runs

(Undated)  --  If fans see less home runs in majors this season, it won't be by accident.  The Athletic cites a memo to MLB front offices outlining changes that are intended to deaden baseballs and cut down on record home run totals.  Five more teams will also start storing balls in humidors.

(Pullman, WA)  --  Washington State and UCLA will face off in Pullman on Thursday night.  The Cougars are coming off a narrow loss to Oregon State to dip to 11-and-8 and 4-and-8 in conference play.  The Bruins are 13-and-4.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Washington will welcome number-20 USC to Husky Stadium on Thursday night.  U-Dub will look to snap its three-game losing streak that dropped it to just 3-and-14.  The Trojans are 15-and-3.

Oregon Holds Off Washington

(Eugene, OR) -- Eugene Omoruyi dropped 25 points as Oregon held off Washington's late surge to win 86-74 in Eugene. Will Richardson contributed 19 points in the win. The Ducks improve to 10-and-4. Quade Green scored 23 in the loss for the Huskies, who dip to 3-and-14.

Blazers Game Postponed

(Portland, OR) -- The Trail Blazers' scheduled Sunday night game against the Hornets in Charlotte has been postponed to the second half of the season. The shift was made last month after multiple schedule changes due to COVID-19. The Blazers return to the court tomorrow to host the Magic.

Buccaneers Beat Chiefs To Win Super Bowl 55

(Tampa, FL) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on top of the NFL world. The Bucs beat the defending champion Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl 55 in Tampa. It's the second title in franchise history. The Buccaneers became the first team in history to win a Super Bowl in their own stadium.

Report: NBA Finalizing Agreement On All-Star Game With NBPA

(Atlanta, GA)  --  The NBA is reportedly close to finalizing an agreement on the upcoming All-Star Game with the NBPA.  According to a memo obtained by ESPN, the league expects to have a deal in place by next week.  The All-Star Game is expected to be played in early March in Atlanta.

Blazers Roll Past Sixers

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Gary Trent Junior led with 24 points as the Trail Blazers rolled past the 76ers 121-105 in Philadelphia.  Carmelo Anthony added 22 points while Enes Kanter had 17 points and 18 rebounds.  Portland was without Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum due to injuries.  The Blazers jump to 12-and-9 and visit the Knicks tomorrow.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Jarod Lucas was one of five Oregon State players to score in double digits with 19 points as it routed Washington 91-71 in Corvallis.  Zach Reichle added 17 points and eight assists for the Beavers, who improve to 9-and-7.  Marcus Tsohonis scored a game-high 22 points in the setback.  The Huskies slip to 3-and-13.

Sounders Sign Former Husky Richey

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Sounders are signing former Washington goalkeeper Spencer Richey.  He helped the Huskies advance to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in 2014.  The Seattle native was drafted by the Whitecaps in the third round of the 2015 draft and has spent the past two seasons with FC Cincinnati.

Former Seahawks OT Wheeler Pleads Not Guilty

(Kent, WA) -- Former Seahawks offensive tackle Chad Wheeler has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges for domestic violence assault. He also pleaded not guilty to domestic violence unlawful imprisonment and resisting arrest. Wheeler was arrested on January 23rd after he allegedly choked his girlfriend until she was unconscious. The woman says she thought Wheeler had killed her.

(Seattle, WA) -- Sue Bird is staying in Seattle for her 18th season in the WNBA. The four-time champion agreed to re-sign with the Storm as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Bird helped lead the Storm to last year's win over the Aces in the WNBA Finals. She's the oldest player in the league at 40 and says she intends to retire with Seattle.

The Athletic reports the union may not even counter as some players feel it's too late to revise the schedule. MLB has reportedly proposed a 154-game slate that would start in late April.
