Trail Blazers Edge Thunder

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  Damian Lillard scored 23 points and dished out 13 assists as the Trail Blazers edged the Thunder 102-99 in Oklahoma City.  C.J. McCollum put the Blazers up for good with just under five minutes remaining.  McCollum finished with 22 points.  Hassan Whiteside posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds for Portland, which improves to 3-and-2.  Portland will host the 76ers on Saturday.

Number-Eight Oregon Visits USC Saturday

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Eighth-ranked Oregon will visit USC on Saturday.  The Ducks want to keep rolling as they try to make a case for the College Football Playoff.  The Ducks are 7-and-1 on the season.

Number-14 Oregon Basketball Opens Season Tuesday

(Eugene, OR)  -- Number-14 Oregon basketball will open the season on Tuesday.  The Ducks will host Fresno State.  Oregon held their green-yellow scrimmage on Wednesday night.  Elsewhere in college basketball action, Oregon State will host CSUN on Tuesday.

Oregon State At Arizona On Saturday

(Tucson, AZ)  --  Oregon State will hit the road on Saturday.  The Beavers will visit the Arizona Wildcats.  Oregon State is 3-and-4 and 2-and-2 in Pac-12 play.

Seahawks Host Bucs Sunday

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are hard at work on the practice field as they get ready to host the Buccaneers on Sunday.  Seattle is coming off a 27-20 win on the road over the Falcons.  The Seahawks are 6-and-2 to begin the season.

Spurs Hold Off Blazers

(San Antonio, TX)  --  DeMar DeRozan had 27 points and seven rebounds as the Spurs held off a late push by the Trail Blazers to win 113-110 in San Antonio.  The Blazers came back from an 11 point deficit to outscore the Spurs 39-31 in the fourth, but couldn't close it out.  Damian Lillard posted 28 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in defeat.  CJ McCollum added 27 points for Portland, which had its two-game win streak snapped.  Portland visits the Thunder tomorrow night.

Ducks Face Trojans in Prime TIme

(Eugene, OR)  --  After escaping Autzen with a victory over Washington State, the eighth ranked Ducks can turn their focus entirely toward USC.  At 7-and-1, Oregon will travel to greater Los Angeles to take on the Trojans in prime time Saturday night.

Beavers Set To Take On UA

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State will be in Tucson on Saturday to take on Arizona.  They Beavers are 3-and-4 and are coming off a bye.  The Wildcats enter at 4-and-4.  Portland State fell to 5-and-4, losing to Northern Arizona 31-29.

Will Seahawks Be Active at Trade Deadline?

(Renton, WA)  --  Will they or won't they?  The Seahawks could be buyers before today's 1 p.m. local trade deadline.  The Seattle Times suggests the team could go out and bolster the offense with the likes of Austin Hooper or Robby Anderson to help Russell Wilson make a playoff drive in the second half.  The team already bolstered it's secondary last week with the acquisition of Quandre Diggs from Detroit and is reportedly fielding calls about Rashaad Penny. 

Beavers Take On Warner Pacific Tonight in Exhibition

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Beavers will tip off against Warner Pacific in their final preseason tilt before the regular season tonight at home.  The team will start their regular season November 5th in Corvallis against Cal State Northridge. 

Seahawks Center Britt Done For Season

(Renton, WA)  --  The 'Hawks are definitely in search of a new center as Justin Britt has been ruled out for the rest of the season.  Head coach Pete Carroll said Monday Britt will have season ending surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.  Recovery typically takes eight to 12 months, which could put him out into next season. 

Healy, Two Others Outrighted To Triple-A

(Seattle, WA)  --  The season may be over, but the moves aren't.  With the deadline for players coming off the 60 day injured list looming for the Mariners, the team sent Ryon Healy and pitchers Chasen Bradford and Connor Sadzeck to Triple-A Tacoma, removing them from the 40-man roster.  Healy underwent hip surgery in August.  He played 47 games and hit .237.  Players cannot be recalled to the Majors until being re-added to the 40-man roster.

11th-Ranked Oregon Welcomes Washington State To Town Tomorrow

(Eugene, OR)  --  Number-11 Oregon will host Washington State tomorrow. Pre-game at 5:30, kick-off at 7:30 on KBND.   The Ducks have won six-straight games since losing the season opener against Auburn.  Oregon is first in the Pac-12 North.

Trail Blazers At Kings Tonight

(Sacramento, CA)  --  The Trail Blazers will look to pick up their first win of the season when they visit the Sacramento Kings tonight.  Portland fell 108-100 at home to the Denver Nuggets in the opener.  The Blazers remain on the road Sunday playing in Dallas.

Beavers Off This Weekend

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State won't be in action this weekend as they are on the bye week.  The Beavers are 3-and-4.  Oregon State will visit Arizona next Saturday.  Also, Portland State will play Saturday at Northern Arizona.

Former Mariner Leake Finalist For AL Gold Glove

(Undated)  --  Despite being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks at the MLB Trade Deadline, former Mariner Mike Leake is a finalist for an American League Gold Glove at the pitcher's spot.  The other finalists are Jose Berrios of the Twins and Lucas Giolito of the White Sox.  The winner will be unveiled on November 3rd.

Seahawks Ready For Falcons

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are putting the finishing touches on their game plan as they get ready to visit the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.  Seattle is looking to get back in the win column after falling at home to the Ravens.  The Seahawks are 5-and-2 and second in the NFC West.

Trail Blazers Open Season at Home Tonight.

(Portland, OR)  --  Like a kid on Christmas.  That's how Hassan Whiteside told the Oregonian less how he feels before the regular season tips off.  Well, he doesn't have to wait anymore.  The Trail Blazers will play tonight at Moda Center against the Denver Nuggets in their first of 82 as they begin their pursuit of the Larry O'Brien Trophy.  The Blazers will be in Sacramento Friday to face the Kings before visiting Dallas Sunday to tangle with the Mavs. 

Moore Named To Watch List For Top Shooting Guard

(Eugene, OR)  -- Oregon's Minyon Moore, a grad transfer from USC, is among the 20 players named to the preseason watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, awarded annually to the nation's top shooting guard.  She averaged 14-point-8 points, 5-point-9 assists, 5-point-5 rebounds and 2-point-6 assists last year as a senior with the Trojans.  She came to Ducks to create potentially the best back court in the nation with Sabrina Ionescu.

Seahawks Acquire Diggs From Lions

(Renton, WA)  --  In an attempt to bolster their secondary, the Seahawks acquired Quadnre Diggs from the Lions.  The fifth-year player from Texas was acquired for a fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft.  He will step in due to injuries to Lano Hill and Bradley McDougal.  He's expected to be ready when the 'Hawks take on the Falcons on Sunday in Atlanta.

Mariners' Prospect Shut Down

(Undated)  --  One of the Mariners top prospects has been shut down for the final week of the Arizona Fall League.  Julio Rodriguez has been limited due to a lower back strain.  He made waves after reaching High-A ball last season at age 18 and was the youngest player in the AFL.  In 15 games with Peoria, Rodriguez had 15 hits and a .397 on base percentage.  MLB Pipeline ranks him as the team's number two prospect.

Ducks Game at USC November 2nd To Be In Prime Time

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks' visit to Southern Cal will be in prime time.  The November 2nd game against USC will be at 5 p.m. local time at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.  The Trojans won the last matchup between the two in 2016.

MLS Expanding To Sacramento

(Sacramento, CA)  --  The MLS Western Conference is expanding to Sacramento. The Sacramento Republic FC will be the league's 29th franchise and begin play in 2022.  The team will build a 300-million dollar, 20-thousand-seat soccer stadium in the downtown Railyards District. The stadium will be a centerpiece of a redevelopment project that will include housing, retail, theaters, parks, museums, a hotel and a major medical center.

Trail Blazers Open Season at Home Wednesday

(Portland, OR)  --  The Blazers will open up the NBA season this week when they take on the Nuggets at the new-look Moda Center Wednesday night.  New-look may be a misnomer, as it's almost an old-look with the 1970s-style court to go with the iconic throwbacks the team will be wearing, honoring the team's 1977 championship-winning team.  Portland will be in Sacramento Friday to face the Kings before visiting Dallas Sunday to face the Mavs. 

Number 11 Oregon Stages Late Comeback To Beat Number 23 Washington

(Seattle, WA)  --  Oregon made up a two-touchdown deficit to beat Washington 35-31 in Seattle at Huskie Stadium.  For their efforts, the Ducks have moved up one spot in the Coaches' Poll to number-11.  Justin Herbert threw four touchdown passes and 280 yards in the win while Cyrus Habibi-Likio ran for 81 yards and a score for Oregon.  Johnny Johnson the Third had five catches for 90 yards while Jaylon Redd had five catches and two scores. Oregon is now 6-and-1.  The Ducks host Wazzu Saturday.

Ravens Ground Seahawks

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Ravens' defense scored two touchdowns as they grounded the Seahawks 30-16 at CenturyLink Field.  Marcus Peters returned an interception 67 yards for a score in the second and cornerback Marlon Humphrey returned a fumble for a touchdown in the fourth.  Russell Wilson threw for 241 yards, a touchdown and an interception for Seattle.  Tyler Lockett caught a touchdown as the Seahawks dropped to 5-and-2.

Timbers' Season Comes To An End Behind Late Goal From Real

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  Real's Jefferson Savarino broke right and snuck past keeper Steve Clark near-side on a rain-soaked pitch to knock the Timbers out of the MLS playoffs Saturday night.  Dairon Asprilla scored in the 47th minute to draw even at one-apiece for Portland. Sebastian Blanco and Diego Valeri put tremendous strikes on net in the 66th and 68th minutes, only to be turned away by RSL keeper Nick Rimando. 

Beavers Upset Cal in AM Start

(Berkley, CA)  --  The Beavers got out to a fast start in the morning kickoff, upsetting Cal 21-17 in Berkeley.  Jake Lutton threw for 174 yards and a pair of scores, both in the first half.  BJ Baylor ran for a 13-yard touchdown in the fourth to help put the game away against the Golden Bears.  The Beavers are now 3-and-4 and will have a bye this week before traveling to Arizona to face the Wildcats. 

Blazers Fall At Nuggets

(Denver, CO)  --  Mario Hezonja scored a team-high 18 points as the Blazers fell to the Nuggets 110-104 in the preseason finale from Denver.  Neither Damian Lillard or C.J. McCollum played for Portland.  The regular season tips off on Wednesday at home against the Nuggets.

Timbers Visit Real Salt Lake Tomorrow

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Portland Timbers begin the MLS Cup Playoffs tomorrow when they visit Real Salt Lake.  The Timbers earned the six-seed in the Western Conference, while Real is third.  Portland beat Salt Lake in both of their regular season matches. 

Oregon State At Cal Tomorrow

(Berkeley, CA)  --  Oregon State looks to score a win on the road tomorrow at Cal.  The Beavers are 2-and-4 overall and 1-and-2 in the Pac-12.  Cal is 4-and-2, but has lost its past two games.  Oregon State looks to bounce back after last week's 52-7 loss to Utah.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The 12th-ranked Oregon Ducks visit number-23 Washington tomorrow in Seattle.  This is the 100th all-time meeting between the rival schools.  Oregon is 5-and-1 overall and 3-and-0 in Pac-12 play.  Washington enters at 5-and-2 overall and 2-and-2 in conference.  The Ducks are riding a five-game win streak.

Seahawks Host Ravens Sunday

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seahawks will go for their fourth straight win when they host the Ravens Sunday at CenturyLink Field.  Seattle is 5-and-1 overall and second in the NFC West behind San Francisco.  Baltimore is 4-and-2.

Trail Blazers Top Jazz

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  C.J. McCollum poured in 28 points as the Trail Blazers topped the Jazz 126-118 in Salt Lake City last night.  Damian Lillard posted 25 points as Portland improved to 2-and-2 in preseason play.  Hassan Whiteside contributed five points and 11 rebounds in 16 minutes before leaving the game with an ankle injury.

#12 Oregon Visits #23 Washington Sunday

(Seattle, WA)  --  The 12th-ranked Oregon Ducks are in Seattle on Saturday to visit number-23 Washington.  Oregon is 5-and-1 overall and first in the Pac-12 North at 3-and-0.  Washington enters at 5-and-2 overall and 2-and-2 in conference.  The Ducks have won 13 of their past 15 games against the Huskies.  This is the 100th meeting all-time between the two schools. 

Trail Blazers At Nuggets Tonight

(Denver, CO)  --  The Blazers close out preseason play tonight on the road at the Denver Nuggets.  Portland opened preseason play against Denver last week with a 105-94 loss.  The Blazers will host Denver in the regular season opener on Wednesday.

Timbers Open MLS Cup Playoffs Saturday

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Portland Timbers open the MLC Cup Playoffs on Saturday when they visit Real Salt Lake.  The Timbers earned the six-seed in the Western Conference, while Real is third.  Striker Brian Fernandez will not play after voluntarily entering the MLS Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program last week. 

Oregon Lottery Launches Sports Betting App

(Undated)  --  The Oregon Lottery is jumping into the world of sports betting.  They released an app yesterday called Scoreboard that will allow people within the state to wager on a variety of pro sports.  Bettors will not be able to place wagers on college sports and the app is not available on tribal lands.  The app is compatible with both Apple and Android users.

Seahawks Host Ravens Sunday

(Seattle, WA)  --  Earl Thomas returns to Seattle as an opponent on Sunday when the Seahawks host the Baltimore Ravens.  Thomas joined Baltimore in the offseason after nine years with the Seahawks.  Seattle is 5-and-1 and is led by MVP candidate Russell Wilson.  The Ravens arrive at 4-and-2.

Whiteside In, Little Out as Preseason Winds Down For Blazers

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  Hassan Whiteside says he's been pain free since Saturday's game against the Suns and hopes to use the rest of the preseason to get into rhythm, starting tonight as the Blazers face the Jazz in Utah.  Whiteside has been limited after spraining his left ankle on the second day of training camp.  The team will be without first round pick Nassir Little, who is still recovering from a left ankle sprain he suffered last Thursday.  He'll miss the remainder of the preseason, which wraps up tomorrow in Denver against the Nuggets.

Mariners Last Club To Not Make World Series

(Washington, DC)  --  Behind a big first inning, and a lot of good pitching, the Washington Nationals are on their way to the World Series.  That leaves just the Seattle Mariners as the only franchise to never make the World Series.  Prior to the Nationals and formerly the Expos, the Texas Rangers broke their drought in 2010 when they lost to the San Francisco Giants.  Possibly the M's best shot was in 2001 when they won 116 games, but they lost to the New York Yankees in the ALCS. 

XFL's Dragons Assemble Squad

(Undated)  --  The Seattle Dragons' roster is starting to come together.  Former Troy quarterback Brandon Silvers will be the team's signal caller while the team added Kasen Williams, a Washington-native and former U-Dub player who played with the Seahawks and Browns.  The Dragons also used its first-round pick in phase two to select 6-foot-7 tackle Isaiah Battle, who formerly played for the Seahawks.  Training camp opens in January and the regular season begins in February.  The Dragons' home stadium will be CenturyLink Field.  Former Seahawks quarterback and quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn is the head coach and general manager.

Americans Fall to Canada for First Time in 34 Years

(Toronto, Ontario)  --  The United States Men's National Team lost to Canada for the first time since 1985, losing 2-0 in Toronto.  Alphonso Davies scored in the 63rd minute for the Canadians and Lucas Cavallini iced the game in the first minute of stoppage time, beating Zach Steffen.  The teams will meet again November 15th after the international break.

Seahawks Fear Dissly Out For Season

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are dealing with some bad news.  Will Dissly is expected to miss the remainder of the season.  Pete Carroll made the announcement after the second-year tight end suffered an Achilles injury Sunday after he went down in the second quarter of their win over the Browns.  Dissly has 23 catches for 262 yards and four touchdowns this season.

(Undated)  --  Oregon is rising in the polls, albeit slowly.  They are up to number-12 in the Coaches' Poll after their blowout win over Colorado and Texas' loss to Oklahoma.  The Ducks only surrendered a first-quarter field goal as they ran up 45 on the Buffaloes at Autzen Stadium Saturday.  They'll be on the road in Seattle when they face number-23 Washington Saturday afternoon.

(Portland, OR)  --  After the international break wraps up this week, the MLS will be back in action this weekend with the start of the playoffs.  The Timbers will be on the road when they face Real Salt Lake Saturday, as they qualified as the six-seed in the West. 

Oregon State Run By Utah in Corvallis

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Calvin Tyler Junior caught a 15-yard touchdown pass to prevent the shutout as the 14th-ranked Utah Utes steamrolled Oregon State 52-7 at Reser Stadium in Corvallis over the weekend.  The Beavers were limited to just 217 yards of offense.  At 2-and-4, Oregon State will visit Cal Saturday morning. 

Americans Face Canadians in Toronto Tomorrow

(Toronto, Ontario)  --  The United States Men's National Team will look to build on their big win last week when they face Canada tomorrow in Toronto.  The U-S beat Cuba 7-nil on Friday behind an early hat trick from Winston McKennie.  The Canadians feature former MLSers Alphonso Davies and Cyle Larin.  The match will be the last for the two during the international break.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers continue preseason action tomorrow as they host the Phoenix Suns at Moda Center.  Portland is 1-and-1.  The Blazers will wrap up the preseason with a pair of road games next week at Utah and Denver.  The regular season opens on October 23rd at home against the Nuggets. 

Oregon State Hosts #15 Utah Tomorrow

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State looks to score an upset tomorrow as number-15 Utah visits Corvallis.  The Beavers earned their first Pac-12 win last week against UCLA and are 2-and-3 overall.  The Utes enter at 4-and-1.  Oregon State has lost its past three games to Utah.  Also, Portland State will host Idaho.

(Cleveland, OH)  --  The Seahawks hope to extend their win streak on Sunday when they visit the Cleveland Browns.  Seattle is 4-and-1 and sits second in the NFC West behind unbeaten San Francisco.  The Browns are 2-and-3.  Starting running back Chris Carson was limited in practice yesterday due to a shoulder injury.

(Portland, WA)  --  The Portland Timbers are off this weekend.  The MLS Cup Playoffs get going next Saturday when the sixth-seed Timbers travel to face third-seeded Real Salt Lake.  Portland beat RSL in both of their regular season matches.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will resume preseason action tonight against Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli league. Tip-off at 7 on KBND.  On Saturday Portland will host the Phoenix Suns at 5:00.  The Trail Blazers dropped the preseason opener against the Denver Nuggets 105-94 at home on Tuesday.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are hard at work as they look to win their third-straight game on Sunday.  Seattle will visit the Cleveland Browns.  Seattle is 4-and-1 after defeating the Rams on Thursday Night Football last week.  Guard D.J. Fluker sat out practice with an injured hamstring.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will continue to prep for the upcoming MLS playoffs.  Portland will visit Real Salt Lake a week from Saturday.  The winner will advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Blazers Drop Preseason Opener to Nuggets

(Portland, OR)  --  The Blazers lost late in their preseason opener 105-94 to the Nuggets at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.  It was a two-point game at the half, as the starters played sporadically, but in the third quarter when the game became a battle of the benches, Denver pulled away.  Mario Hezonja led the way with 12 points in 20 minutes.  Portland continues its exhibition slate hosting Maccabi Haifa tomorrow.

Metcalf Treats Mom To New Car

(Renton, WA)  --  While at home in Oxford, Mississippi, this past weekend, DK Metcalf took the opportunity to spend some of his rookie contract on his mom.  Specifically, he bought his mother, Tonya, a Chevy Suburban.  He joked that she was already looking at one.  The Seahawks will be in Ohio to take on the Browns on Sunday.

(Undated)  --  In college football this weekend, number-13 Oregon will host Colorado at Autzen Friday night after getting past Cal 17-7 Saturday.  Oregon State will host number-15 Utah Saturday after topping UCLA 48-31 in Southern California over the weekend.  Portland State will host Idaho in Big Sky play.  The Vikings are 3-and-3, including a 3-and-0 home mark.

Timbers Host Real Salt Lake In First Round

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will take the next week-and-a-half to prepare for the first round of playoffs when they host Real Salt Lake October 19th.  Portland earned the sixth seed in the Western Conference with 49 points.  Salt Lake is the third seed with 53 points.

Seahawks Visit Browns On Sunday

(Renton, WA)  --  After defeating the Rams on Thursday Night Football, the 4-and-1 Seahawks will visit the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.  The Browns were toppled by the 49ers 31-3 last night.  Seattle is second in the NFC West behind undefeated San Francisco.  In injury news, right guard D.J. Fluker left last week's game with a hamstring injury and is questionable.

Timbers Clinch Playoff Berth as They Knock Quakes Out

(Portland, OR)  --  A 59th minute goal by Dairon Asprilla gave the Timbers all they would need as they cruised to a 3-1 win over San Jose at Providence Park, ensuring themselves the six seed in the West and knocking the Quakes out of the playoff picture.  Larrys Mabiala gave Portland a 1-nil lead in the 29th minute before Chris Wondolowski tied the game in the 39th minute.  Sebastian Blanco put the icing on the cake with a 75th minute goal as the game became fast and loose.  Following the international break next weekend, the Timbers will meet Real Salt Lake in the first round of the MLS Western Conference Playoffs.  

Oregon Holds On To Beat Cal

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks needed two late scores to hold off Cal to win 17-7 at Autzen Saturday.  Cyrus Habibi-Likio scored on a one-yard run with a minute and a half left in the third before Justin Herbert connected with Jaylon Redd for a one-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth to lift 13th ranked Oregon over the Golden Bears.  Now 4-and-1, the Ducks will host Colorado in Eugene Friday night.

(Pasadena, CA)  --  Jake Luton threw for 285 yards and five touchdowns as Oregon State knocked off UCLA 48-31 in Pasadena. Isaiah Hodgins hauled in three receiving touchdowns.  The Beavers won their first conference game of the season to improve to 2-and-3 overall.  Oregon State will host number-15 Utah on Saturday.

US Women Tie in Jill Ellis' Final Match At Helm

(Chicago, IL)  --  Carli Lloyd's 37th minute goal gave head coach Jill Ellis a draw in her final match with the United States Women's National Team at Soldier Field Sunday in Chicago.  Ji Soyun scored in the 34th minute to give South Korea a 1-nil lead.  Reign forward Megan Rapinoe played the first half for the Americans.  No one has been named yet as the successor to Ellis, who leaves not just as the winningest coach in national team history at 106-7-and-19, but the only coach to win two Women's World Cups.  The next match for the Americans will be against Sweden on November 7th in Columbus, Ohio. 

Seahawks Visit Browns On Sunday

(Renton, WA)  --  After defeating the Rams on Thursday Night Football, the 4-and-1 Seahawks had Sunday off.  Seattle will visit the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.  The Browns will visit the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football tonight.  If the Browns win, the Seahawks will be in first place in the NFC West.

Trail Blazers' Preseason Opener Around The Corner

(Portland, OR)  --  Preseason is just around the corner for the Trail Blazers.  Portland will host the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in celebration of the team's 50th season.  On Thursday, the Blazers will play Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Basketball Premier League at Moda Center.  Portland will also host the Nuggets in the regular season opener on October 23rd.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will wrap up the regular season on Sunday.  Portland will host the San Jose Earthquakes.  The Timbers have 46 points and are looking to hold onto a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Seahawks Edge By Rams On TNF

(Seattle, WA)  --  Greg Zuerlein [[ ZUR-line ]] missed a 44-yard field goal in the closing seconds as the Seahawks held on to edge by the Rams 30-29 in Seattle.  Russell Wilson threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns.  Wilson found Chris Carson for a five-yard touchdown to give Seattle the lead with 2:28 to play.  Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf and David Moore also had receiving touchdowns.  Carson finished with 118 yards rushing as Seattle improved to 4-and-1.  Seattle will visit the Browns next Sunday.

Timbers Host Earthquakes Sunday

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will close out the regular season when they host the San Jose Earthquakes Sunday.  It's the final match of the regular season before the playoffs begin.  The Timbers have 46 points and are sixth in the west.

Trail Blazers Resume Training Camp

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers continue to get ready for the upcoming season.  Portland is currently taking part in training camp with preseason just around the corner.  The Trail Blazers will host the Denver Nuggets in preseason action on Tuesday.  Tip-off at 7:30 on KBND.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seahawks will have a huge NFC West showdown when they host the Rams on Thursday Night Football tonight.  Seattle is 3-and-1 on the season after a big 27-10 division win at the Arizona Cardinals.  The Rams are also 3-and-1 on the season.

Ducks' Reserve Receiver Leaves Program

(Eugene, OR)  --  A redshirt freshman is away from the program and his future is unclear.  Reserve receiver JJ Tucker, who has not played this season, posted on Instagram over the weekend a photo with a caption "My farewells."  Several players believe he's leaving the team.  However, coach Mario Cristobal says, "There is no guarantee he'll be on the team or off the team yet."  Number-13 Oregon will host Cal Saturday at Autzen Stadium. 

Timbers Control Their Own Fate Going Into Final Week of Season

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers control their own destiny Sunday.  They will face off with San Jose at Providence Park with a chance to punch their playoff ticket.  If they can earn a win or draw, sixth-seeded Portland will clinch a spot in the postseason and eliminate the Quakes, who are two points behind them in eighth.  However, a loss will force them to rely on outside forces.  FC Dallas is a point behind the Tims entering the final weekend in the seventh and final playoff spot.  Portland has 46 points through 33 matches.

Oregon State Visits UCLA

(Corvallis, OR)  --  After falling short this past weekend against Stanford, Oregon State will visit UCLA Saturday.  The Beavers are 1-and-3 while the Bruins are 1-and-4.

UW's Peterson Responds To New California Law

(Seattle, WA)  --  While many schools in California are preparing to deal with new regulations governing payment to athletes, Chris Peterson is happy he doesn't have to worry about it.  U-Dub's head coach said such schools would have an advantage in recruiting.  California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the Fair Pay to Play Act into law Monday.  Beginning in 2023, it will be illegal in California for universities to prohibit their student-athletes from profiting off their name and likeness, including jersey sales and autographs.

Seattle NHL Team Awarded AHL Club In Palm Springs

(Palm Springs, CA)  --  The Seattle NHL franchise has been granted the American Hockey League's 32nd club, which will begin play in 2021 in Palm Springs, California.  The 250-million-dollar project was announced early this week and will begin the same season as the Seattle club.  Tim Leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group, says the new arena in Southern California will host sports and music events and will seat 10-thousand fans.

Seahawks Face Rams in Quick Turnaround Tomorrow

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seahawks are gearing up for the defending division and conference champion LA Rams, who they'll face tomorrow night.  The 'Hawks beat the Cardinals on the road Sunday, moving to 3-and-1.  Los Angeles lost to the Buccaneers to fall to 3-and-1.  With the undefeated 49ers in first place, a win would greatly benefit either team in their hopes of winning the division.

Tuesday night prep volleyball sees Summit hosting South Salem. Bend is at McKay and Mt. View plays at McNary. Crook County welcomes Ridgeview. Redmond ventures to The Dalles. Madras hosts Gladstone. 

La Pine is in Corvallis to face Santiam Christian. Gilchrist hosts Paisley at 4, and tonight North Lake welcomes Trinity Lutheran at 6:30.

Lillard Says New-Look Blazers Still Eyeing NBA Title

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard has one goal this season: an NBA title.  At the Trail Blazer's media day Monday, the All-NBA guard acknowledged the new roster, but said the goal is the same.  Despite Al-Farouq Amino, Enes Kanter, and Mo Harkless finding new homes, the team has retooled with the return of Jusuf Nurkic and Hassan Whiteside.  The Blazers reached the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 last season, but were swept by the Golden State Warriors.

(Kansas City, KS)  --  The Timbers will host San Jose in the final week of the season Sunday at Providence Park.  They have 46 points through 33 matches.  However, they're not out of danger.  FC Dallas is a point behind Portland for the seventh and final playoff spot, while the Earthquakes are just two back.  If the Quakes win and FC Dallas draw or win, the Timbers would be on the outside looking in of the playoffs.
