Timbers Begin Season Sunday

(Portland, OR)  --  The MLS regular season will begin on Sunday.  Portland will host Minnesota United.  The Timbers will be at home for the first two weeks of the season.  Their first match on the road is at the New England Revolution on March 15th.

Trail Blazers Fall At Pacers

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  C.J. McCollum scored 28 points but the Trail Blazers fell 106-100 to the Pacers in Indianapolis.  Gary Trent Junior added 20 in defeat for Portland.  Hassan Whiteside posted a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds.  The Trail Blazers are 26-and-34 and will visit the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow.

Number-16 Oregon Takes Down Oregon State

(Eugene, OR)  --  Payton Pritchard scored 23 points as number-16 Oregon defeated Oregon State 69-54 at home.  Will Richardson added 15 for the Ducks, who improve to 22-and-7.  Ethan Thompson led the Beavers with 15.  Oregon State drops to 15-and-13.

Mariners Lose Pair Of Split Squad Games

(Peoria, AZ)  --  It was a tough day on the diamond as the Mariners lost a pair of split squad games in Cactus League play.  The Mariners fell 6-5 to the White Sox in Glendale while dropping a home contest to the Giants 5-4 in Peoria. 

Report: Seahawks' Clowney Drawing Interest Around League Ahead Of Free Agency

(Renton, WA)  --  There could be a strong market for Seahawks pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney in free agency.  According to ESPN, Clowney is receiving interest from around the league.  The Seahawks acquired him from Houston before the season began last year.  The pass rusher finished with 31 tackles and three sacks last year.

(Portland, OR)  --  CJ McCollum had 28 points and 10 assists but the Trail Blazers lost 118-106 to the Boston Celtics at the Moda Center.  Hassan Whiteside had 18 points and 19 rebounds while Trevor Ariza had 17 in the loss, Portland's fourth in five games.  They'll kick off a three-game road trip tomorrow night when they visit the Pacers in Indiana.

NFL Combine Underway

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine is underway in Indianapolis.  The Seahawks will have the 27th overall pick in the draft and have two picks in the fourth round.  Players, agents, scouts and team executives are in town as teams evaluate top; college talent.  Players begin interviews with teams and the press today, with on-field workouts starting tomorrow.  More than 300 prospects are invited.

Sheffield Shines As M's Pick Up First Win

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  Justus Sheffield threw two perfect innings, striking out three, as the Mariners beat the Brewers 2-1 Tuesday.  Brian O'Keefe had an RBI single for the M's, who won their first game of the Spring.  They'll visit the Reds in Goodyear today.

Dragons Take On St. Louis This Weekend

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Dragons will be back in action on Saturday as they hit the road to take on St. Louis.  They lost 24-12 to the Dallas Renegades this past weekend, despite two touchdown passes from Brandon Silvers.  They're 1-and-2 on the XFL season.

Blazers Host Celtics Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will be back in action tonight when they take on the Boston Celtics at the Moda Center.  They snapped their three-game losing streak with a win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night thanks to a big performance from CJ McCollum.  Damian Lillard is expected to miss the game while he rests his injured groin.  At 26-and-32, Portland will kick off a three-game road trip Thursday when they visit the Indiana Pacers.

Ionescu Becomes First D1 Player To 2K, 1K, 1K

(Palo Alto, CA)  --  Sabrina Ionescu became the first player, female or male, to reach the two-thousand point, one-thousand assist, one-thousand rebound plateau on Monday night as her third-ranked Oregon Ducks beat the fourth-ranked Stanford Cardinal 74-66 in Palo Alto.  She finished the game with 21 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds, but it was her ninth rebound of the night that put her in the category all by herself.  Ionescu spoke at Kobe Bryant's memorial in Los Angeles earlier in the day before flying to Northern California to reunite with her team.

Gonzales, M's Pitching Roughed Up Against Cubs

(Peoria, AZ)  --  Marco Gonzales got roughed up in his first start of the Spring, as the Mariners lost to the Cubs 16-12 in Peoria.  Gonzales gave up five runs on three hits and two walks in just two-thirds of an inning.  Tim Lopes went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and four RBI in the loss for the M's.  They'll visit the Brewers today.

United, New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, Minnesota United, and the LA Galaxy.  The Timbers will kick off their regular season Sunday at Providence Park against Minnesota United.

Blazers Come Back To Beat Pistons

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers staged a fourth-quarter comeback, beating the Pistons 107-104 at the Moda Center.  CJ McCollum scored 41 points and had 12 assists while Hassan Whiteside had 16 points and 17 rebounds.  Carmelo Anthony added 32 points which helped snap Portland's three-game losing streak.  The Blazers will be home tomorrow night as they take on the Celtics.

Oregon State Falls To Arizona State

(Tempe, AZ)  --  Tres Tinkle poured in 25 points but the Beavers lost a heartbreaker, 74-73, to Arizona State in Tempe Saturday.  Ethan Tompson had 20 points and seven assists in the loss for Oregon State, which dropped to 15-and-12 and 5-and-10 in the conference. 

Oregon Bounces Back, Beats UA

(Tucson, AZ)  --  The Ducks escaped Tucson with a furious second-half rally to force overtime, winning 73-72 against Arizona in Tucson.  Payton Pritchard scored a career high 38 points as Oregon moved to 21-and-7 and 10-and-5 in the Pac-12.  They'll take on the Beavers in a Civil War matchup in Eugene Thursday. 

XFL's Dragons Fall To Dallas

(Seattle, WA)  --  Brandon Silvers found the end zone twice, but the Seattle Dragons lost to the Dallas Renegades 24-12 on Saturday in XFL action.  Silvers threw for 204 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while Austin Proehl had an touchdown reception to give Seattle an early lead.  Now at 1-and-2, the Dragons will be at St. Louis on Saturday.

Mariners Drop Spring Training Opener

(Peoria, AZ)  --  Yusei Kikuchi gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits in an inning and a third as the Mariners lost 7-5 to the Rangers in their Spring Training opener Sunday.  Shed Long put Seattle on the board with a run-scoring double in the fifth and Joseph Odom homered in the ninth.  The M's scheduled opener against the Padres Saturday was rained out.  They'll be in Peoria to face the Cubs today.

Number-16 Oregon Falls To ASU

(Tempe, AZ)  --  Number-16 Oregon stumbled as it fell 77-72 at Arizona State.  Will Richardson scored 18 points for the Ducks along with Payton Pritchard.  Chris Duarte added 10 for Oregon, which drops to 20-and-7.  Oregon will visit number-21 Arizona tomorrow.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers return from the All-Star Break tomorrow.  Portland will host Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans.  The Trail Blazers are 25-and-31 and four games back of the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

Report: Seahawks' Dissly Expected To Be Ready For Week One

(Renton, WA)  --  A day after signing Greg Olsen, the Seahawks are getting good news regarding another tight end.  According to NFL.com, Seahawks tight end Will Dissly is expected to be back for Week One.  Dissly tore his Achilles in Week Six of last season.  Dissley was drafted out of Washington.

Seahawks Have Tough Schedule Ahead

(Undated)  --  The Seahawks will have one of the tougher schedules in 2020.  So says CBS-Sports-dot-com.  Seattle opponents combined records in 2019 was 129-125-and-2, a .509 winning percentage, good for tied for 13th in the league and in the upper half of the toughest schedules in the league.  In contrast, the 49ers have the fourth toughest schedule, the Cardinals have the eighth toughest, and the Rams have the 10th toughest. 

Seahawks Sign Tight End Olsen

(Undated)  --  The Seahawks are signing former Carolina Panther tight end Greg Olsen, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.  The deal, reportedly is for seven million dollars for one year and includes five-point-five million in guaranteed money.  Olsen, who turns 35 in March, had 52 catches and 597 yards receiving last season.  The Seahawks are depleted at tight end after injuries to Will Dissly and Ed Dickson, and Luke Willson is a free agent.

Four Missing From M's First Workout

(Peoria, AZ)  --  The Mariners held their first full-squad workout in Peoria, Arizona, but four players are absent, including second baseman Dee Gordon.  He is in Florida with his wife as they await on the birth of their first child.  Outfielder Mitch Haniger is in California recovering from surgery last week.   Pitcher Manny Bañuelos and infielder Alen Hanson are having visa issues.  Seattle will open Cactus League play Saturday against the Padres in Peoria.

Team LeBron Gets By Team Giannis In All-Star Game

(Chicago, IL)  --  Anthony Davis made a free throw to hit the target score of 157 to lift Team LeBron over Team Giannis 157-155 to win the All-Star Game in Chicago.  The target score was configured by adding 24 to the leading team's score at the end of the third quarter.  Kawhi Leonard led Team LeBron with 30 points, seven rebounds and two steals to win the inaugural Kobe Bryant MVP Award.  LeBron James and Chris Paul each put up 23 as the team earned 400-thousand-dollars for Chicago Scholars.  Trail Blazers all-star Damian Lillard missed the game with an injured groin. 

Timbers Top White Caps In Preseason Tournament

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers topped the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 in a preseason tilt Sunday at Providence Park.  Portland got goals from Diego Valeri and Andy Polo.  The preseason continues Wednesday as the Timbers will match up against Minnesota United at home.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Beavers saw their mini-winning streak end as they lost 69-47 to the 15th ranked Colorado Buffaloes in Corvallis.  OSU had won two-straight coming into the game.  Ethan Thompson scored a team-high 17, while Tres Tinkle had 10 points and 13 rebounds.  Oregon State will be off until Thursday when its travels to Tucson and face Arizona.

Ducks Breeze Past Utah

(Eugene, OR)  --  The 18th-ranked Ducks breezed past Utah 80-62 Sunday in Eugene.  Payton Pritchard scored 25 points to lead Oregon, while Will Richardson had 18 points and six rebounds.  At 20-and-6 overall and 9-and-4 in conference, the Ducks will visit Arizona State on Thursday.

Dragons Top Vipers

(Seattle, WA)  --  Brandon Silvers connected with Keenan Reynolds for a 68 yard touchdown pass as the Dragons beat the Tampa Bay Vipers 17-9 in Seattle in an XFL game.  Silvers also accounted for the Vipers' touchdown as he threw a pick-six in the third quarter.  The Dragons will be home again Saturday as they host the Dallas Renegades.

(Peoria, AZ)  --  The Mariners position players are scheduled to arrive today as the first full-squad workout will be tomorrow in Peoria.  They will meet the Padres Saturday in Peoria in their Cactus League opener.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Number-18 Oregon rallied for a 14-point deficit to beat Number-15 Colorado 68-60 at home in a Pac-12 showdown.  Will Richardson scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half for Oregon.  The Ducks improved to 19-and-6 and 8-and-4 in the conference.  They will remain home Saturday to face Utah.

Lillard Is Expected To Miss 1-to-2 Weeks With Injury

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard is expected to be out one-to-two weeks with a groin injury he suffered in a loss Wednesday in Memphis.  Lillard will not play in the Sunday NBA All-Star game in Chicago or participate in the three-point challenge.  Lillard, however, will perform music under his artist name Dame D.O.L.L.A. during the All-Star Weekend festivities.  Portland is off the court until next Friday when it will host the Pelicans.

Haniger Has Second Surgery Will Miss Significant Time

(Peoria, AZ)  --  Mariners pitchers and catchers have arrived to spring training in Peoria, Arizona and held their first workout.  Seattle position players will arrive Monday for Seattle.  In injury news, Mitch Haniger is recovering from his second surgery in three weeks due to a core muscle injury.  He is expected to begin the season on the 60-day injury list and could be out until July.

(Memphis, TN)  --  It was a tough night for the Trail Blazers on the court.  Star guard Damian Lillard exited with a groin injury.  Lillard confirmed he will miss NBA All-Star Weekend.  Coach Terry Stotts told reporters Lillard will have an MRI.

Mariners Bring Back Taijuan Walker

(Peoria, AZ)  --  The Mariners are bringing back Taijuan Walker.  The Mariners signed Walker to a one-year two-million dollar contract.Walker was traded from Seattle to the Diamondbacks in 2016.  He has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery.  The right handed pitcher was once a top Seattle prospect, picking him 43rd overall in the 2010 draft.

Zion Dominant As Pelicans Blow Out Trail Blazers

(New Orleans, LA)  --  Zion Williamson scored 31 points as the Trail Blazers lost big to the Pelicans 138-117 in New Orleans.  Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum each had 20 points while Hassan Whiteside had 17 points and 14 rebounds for Portland.  The Blazers have split their last six games to land at 25-and-30.  They'll visit the Grizzlies tonight.

Mariners Sign CarGo To Minor League Deal As Pitchers And Catchers Report Today

(Peoria, AZ)  --  The Mariners are adding some cargo, per se, as pitchers and catchers report today in Peoria.  The team has agreed to a minor league deal with former All-Star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, according to reports.  The deal is pending a physical.    The 34-year-old was last an all-star in 2016.  He appeared in 30 games with Cleveland last Spring before he was cut.  The first scheduled workout is scheduled for tomorrow.  Position players will begin reporting to camp on Monday.  The M's will play their first game on February 22nd when they visit the Padres.

Oregon Falls In Latest Poll

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks are down in the latest polls.  After losing in the Civil War over the weekend, Oregon fell three spots to number-18 in the latest Coaches Poll.  They'll be back in action Thursday in Eugene when they welcome the new number-15, Colorado, to town.  Meanwhile, Oregon State will welcome Utah to Corvallis Thursday night. 

Blazers Visit Pelicans Tonight

(New Orleans, LA)  --  The Trail Blazers will be on the road tonight as they visit the Pelicans in New Orleans.  Portland has split its last four but has won six of its last eight games to find themselves at 25-and-29.  They'll play one more game before the All-Star break tomorrow night in Memphis against the Grizzlies.

(Peoria, AZ)  --  It's almost time for pitchers and catchers to report for the Mariners.  The first reporting will begin tomorrow with the first workout scheduled for Thursday.  Position players will begin reporting to camp on Monday.  The M's will play their first game on February 22nd when they visit the Padres. 

Beavers Top Ducks In Civil War

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Beavers got 15 points from Ethan Thompson as they upset the 15th ranked Ducks 63-53 in Corvallis in a Civil War matchup on Saturday.  Oregon State outscored Oregon 35-21 in the second half to rally to the win to move to 14-and-9.  The Ducks, who are now 18-and-6, will be home Thursday to face number 24 Colorado while the Beavers will welcome Utah to town.

Dame Comes Up Big As Blazers Top Heat

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard had 33 points and eight assists as the Trail Blazers beat the Heat 115-109 at the Moda Center.  Gary Trent Junior had 22 points off the bench while Trevor Ariza had 21.  Portland has won two-of-three and six-of-eight to move to 25-and-29.  The Blazers will be on the road tomorrow night as they visit the Pelicans in New Orleans.

(Washington, DC)  --  Dragons receiver Austin Proehl had five catches for 88 yards for two touchdowns, including a 57-yard catch-and-run, as they lost 31-19 to the DC Defenders in the District of Columbia.  Seattle had a punt blocked in the end zone and had an interception returned for a touchdown in the loss.  The Dragons will be home on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Vipers.
 

Jokic Lifts Nuggets In Huge Win Over Trail Blazers

(Denver, CO)  --  Nikola Jokic finished an assist shy of a triple double as Blazers were hammered by the Nuggets 127-99 in Denver.  Jokic finished with 29 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists in three quarters.  Damian Lillard had 21 points and nine assists while CJ McCollum had 20 points for Portland.  The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Blazers.  Portland will be back at home tomorrow night when they host the Spurs at the Moda Center.

Greg Olsen To Visit Seahawks

(Renton, WA)  --  Tight end Greg Olsen will pay a visit to the Seahawks as he figures out his next move.  The 13-year-pro will also visit Washington and Buffalo as he decides between a 14th NFL season and the broadcasting booth.  Olsen told The Athletic that he will meet with Buffalo on Wednesday and that the Washington and Seattle visits will follow "sometime in the next 10 days."  He'll turn 35 next month.

Mariners Extend Lefty Gonzales

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners have extended left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzalez, signing him to a four-year contract worth 30-million-dollars.  The 27-year-old finished 16-and-13 with a 3.99 ERA last season after starting 5-and-0 in April.  The M's have an option for 2025 worth 15-million-dollars with no buyout.  He was 13-and-9 in 2018 in his first full season since being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals.

Former Seahawks Hutchinson, James Selected To Pro Football Hall Of Fame

(Miami Gardens, FL)  --  A pair of former Seahawks are going to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Former Seahawks guard Steve Hutchinson and running back Edgerrin James have been selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Hutchinson played with the Seahawks from 2001-2005 while James played in seven games with Seattle in 2009.  Hutchinson was named to the Pro Bowl three times in Seattle.

Former Seahawk Clark Helps Chiefs Win Super Bowl

(Miami Gardens, FL)  --  A former Seahawk raised the Lombardi Trophy in Miami.  Former Seahawk Frank Clark helped the Chiefs defeat the 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl 54.  Clark had a pivotal sack of 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo late in the fourth quarter that helped seal a Kansas City win.  Clark spent 2015-2018 with the Seahawks.
