Blazers Burn Grizzlies

(Memphis, TN)  --  Revenge is a dish best served scorching hot, especially if you're the Trail Blazers.  Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Norman Powell all reached the 20 point mark as Portland spanked the Grizzlies 130-109 in Memphis.  The Blazers visit Brooklyn tomorrow.

Mariners Slip Late In Houston

(Houston, TX)  --  Seattle can't hold on late as the Mariners blew a two-run lead in the eighth, allowing the Astros to score four runs for a 7-5 win in Houston.  Luis Torrens and Kyle Lewis hit home runs for Seattle, which lost its fourth straight.  The Mariners try to avoid the four-game sweep today.

Clippers Fall To Suns

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  Paul George scored 25 points but the Clippers lost 109-101 to the Suns in Phoenix.  Marcus Morris Sr. posted 16 points for the Clippers.  LA is 43-and-21 and will host the Nuggets Saturday.

Lakers Fall To Wizards

(Washington, D.C.)  --  Anthony Davis scored 26 points as the Lakers fell 116-107 to the Wizards in D.C.  Ben McLemore added 16 off the bench for Los Angeles.  The Lakers are 36-and-26 and host the Kings tomorrow.

Rays Shut Down Athletics

(St. Petersburg, FL)  --  Tyler Glasnow threw seven scoreless innings and struck out 10 as the Rays shut down the Athletics 2-0 in St. Petersburg.  Cole Irvin struck out eight and allowed just two runs over six innings but took the loss for the Athletics.  Oakland has lost three of four.  The two wrap up the series today.
 

Dodgers Blank Reds

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Clayton Kershaw struck eight over seven scoreless innings as the Dodgers blanked the Reds 8-0 at home.  Justin Turner homered for Los Angeles.  Mookie Betts and Matt Beaty each drove in a pair of runs for the Dodgers, who snapped a three-game skid.  The Dodgers visit the Brewers tonight.

(Undated)  --  On the ice, the Ducks rallied to beat the Kings 3-2 in Los Angeles.  The Ducks will host the Kings tomorrow.  The Sharks topped the Coyotes 4-2 in San Jose.  The Sharks visit the Avalanche tomorrow.

Trail Blazers End Losing Streak In Indy

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  The Trail Blazers finally ended their five-game losing streak with a dominant 133-112 road win against the Indiana Pacers.  Anfernee Simons made it rain from beyond the arc, sinking nine three-pointers in his 27-point performance, which was just one shy of Damian Lillard's franchise record.  The NBA's condensed schedule continues on and the Blazers will be in Memphis tonight to take on the Grizzlies in a potential preview of a playoff play-in game.

Reds Push Past Dodgers

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Reds scored three runs in the seventh to push past the Dodgers 6-5 in Los Angeles.   Walker Buehler struck out 10 but gave up five runs over six and a third innings for Los Angeles.  Scott Alexander took the loss as the Dodgers have lost seven of nine.  The Reds and Dodgers wrap up the series this afternoon.
 

Mariners Shutout By Astros

(Houston, TX)  --  The Mariners lost their second straight game on the road to the Astros, this time a 2-0 shutout, as they have struggled to get the bats going.  Kyle Seager provided the only two hits for the Mariners.  The M's will have two more go's at it tonight at tomorrow afternoon.

Timbers in action in CONCACAF Champions League

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will be taking on América of the Mexican Liga BBVA in a Champions League match tonight.  With the MLS season already underway, the Timbers last CONCACAF match was on April 13th, where they blanked Marathon of the Honduran Primera Division, 5-0.

Rays Edge Athletics

(St. Petersburg, FL)  --  Brett Phillips homered as the Rays edged the Athletics 4-3 in St. Petersburg.  Sean Murphy homered in the ninth in a failed rally for the Athletics.  Frankie Montas allowed three runs over six innings to take the loss for Oakland, which has lost two of three.  The two meet again tonight.

Rockies Power Past Giants In Extras

(San Francisco, CA)  --  The Rockies powered past the Giants 7-5 in San Francisco.  Brandon Crawford tied the game in the ninth with a home run for the Giants. Gregory Santos took the loss for the Giants, who had won two straight coming into the game.  The two sides wrap up the series tonight.

Rangers Cruise Past Angels

(Arlington, TX)  --  Nick Solak homered twice as the Rangers cruised past the Angels 6-1 in Arlington.   Jose Quintana allowed five runs over three and a third innings to take the loss for Los Angeles, which had won two in a row coming in to the game.  The two wrap up the series tonight.

(Undated)  --  On the ice, the Kings host the Ducks tonight.  LA beat Anaheim 4-1 at home on Monday.  The Sharks welcome the Coyotes to town.  San Jose beat Arizona 6-4 on Monday.

Warriors Crushed By Mavericks

(San Francisco, CA)  --  The Mavericks went on a 28-0 run in the first half as they crushed the Warriors 133-103 in San Francisco.  Stephen Curry had 27 points in defeat for Golden State.  The Warriors are 31-and-31 and visit the Timberwolves tomorrow.

NFL Draft Tomorrow

(Undated)  --  The NFL Draft is set to begin tomorrow evening and the Seahawks have a league-low three picks.  Round One will be on Thursday, where the Seahawks won't be making any selections unless they trade up.  Rounds two and three will be on Friday where the Seahawks will only be selecting in the second round at pick number 56.  The remainder of the rounds will be Saturday. 

Maryland Transfer Chol Murial To Join Oregon State

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State men's basketball announced that Maryland transfer center Chol Murial will be joining the Beavers for the 2021-22 season.  The seven-foot-two AZ Compass Prep product was a four-star recruit and number-58 on the ESPN 100 list out of high school.

Blazers To Take On Pacers

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  The Trail Blazers will be on the road tonight against the surging Pacers.  The Blazers have lost five straight and hope to climb their way back out of the playoff play-in tournament.  They are now one game behind the Mavericks for the sixth seed and one game ahead of the Grizzlies for the seventh seed after losing to them twice in a row.

NFL Draft Two Days Away

(Cleveland, OH) --  The NFL Draft is now two days away, with the first round underway on Thursday.  The 49ers will select third overall, with all eyes on whether or not they decide to take a quarterback. The Chargers will pick thirteenth, while the Rams don't currently have a first-rounder after trading theirs to Jacksonville as a part of the Jalen Ramsey deal.

Murphy's Homer Gives A's Win

(St. Petersburg, FL) -- The Athletics got back in the win column after their 13-game streak was snapped on Sunday, and they only needed Sean Murphy's two-run home run in the fourth to lift them to victory over the Rays, 2-1.  Sean Manaea was effective in his five innings, striking out six while allowing just four hits and one run.  The series continues in St. Petersburg today with Frankie Montas getting the start.

Dodgers Lose To Reds In Extras

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Dodgers have lost four of their last five after falling to the Reds in extra innings, 5-3.  Corey Seager tied the game at three with a two-run home run in the seventh, but Kenley Jansen gave up a two-run homer to Jesse Winker in the top of the 10th, and the bats couldn't respond in the bottom of the frame.  Chris Taylor went two-for-five and scored on a single by Gavin Lux, who returned from injury and started at second base.  Walker Buehler starts against the Reds tonight.

Sharks Score Six, Snap Streak

(San Jose, CA) -- The Sharks scored the first four goals of the game en route to a 6-4 home win over the Coyotes, snapping their eight-game losing streak.  Six different Sharks scored in the game, one of them being Evander Kane, who also had three assists for a four-point night.  The win puts them only five points back of the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division with eight games remaining.  They face the Coyotes again on Wednesday.

Red Sox Top Mariners At Fenway

(Boston, MA)  --  The Red Sox pushed four across in the first as they beat the Mariners 5-3 in Boston.  Nick Margevicius got just one out and took the loss.  Ty France, Tom Murphy, and JP Crawford drove in runs for Seattle.  The M's have lost three-of-five.

Warriors Hold Off Kings

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Stephen Curry scored 37 points as the Warriors held off the Kings 117-113 at home.  Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 19 off the bench for Golden State.  The Warriors have won three of four.  The Warriors host the Mavericks tomorrow.

Blazers Drop Fifth Straight, Lose To Grizzlies

(Portland, OR)  --  Ja Morant dropped 28 points as the Grizzlies beat the Trail Blazers 120-113 at the Portland.  CJ McCollum had 27 points to lead Portland, which has now lost five-in-a-row.  Damian Lillard had 23 points while Jusuf Nurkic  added 16 points and 19 rebounds.  The Blazers will be in Indiana to take on the Pacers tomorrow night.

Timbers Top Houston Dynamo

(Portland, OR)  --  Cristhian Paredes giveth, and he taketh away.  Portland's 22-year-old midfielder allowed an own goal in the 28th minute to allow the Houston Dynamo to draw even at 1-1 on Saturday, but scored a blistering shot from just inside the 18-yard box in the 73rd minute to cement the win for the Timbers.  Dairon Aspirilla scored in the sixth minute for the first goal of the game for the Tims.  They're now 1-and-1 on the year with three points.  Portland will host Club America at Providence Park on Wednesday night in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals.

Padres Rally To Beat Dodgers In Extras

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Padres rallied from a 7-1 deficit to beat the Dodgers 8-7 in 11 innings in Los Angeles.  Eric Hosmer drove in the go-ahead run with a sac fly in the 11th.  Chris Taylor and Sheldon Neuse homered for the Dodgers.  Dustin May gave up one run and struck out 10 over six innings for Los Angeles.  Garrett Cleavinger took the loss.  The Dodgers have lost five of seven and host the Reds tonight.

Mariners Top Red Sox In Extras

(Boston, MA)  --  Mitch Haniger hit a three-run 10th inning home run as the Mariners topped the Red Sox 7-3 in Boston.  Sam Haggerty broke the 3-all tie with an RBI double early in the 10th while J.P. Crawford forced extra innings with a sac-fly in the eighth.  Seattle has won three of four and rematches with Boston tonight.

Angels Roughed Up By Astros

(Houston, TX)  --  Albert Pujols homered but the Angels fell 8-2 to the Astros in Houston.  Alex Cobb allowed five runs, four earned over two and two thirds of an inning.  The Angels have lost three of four and meet the Astros again tonight.

Padres Edge Dodgers

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Jurickson Profar scored the go-ahead run on a double play in the eighth inning as the Padres edged the Dodgers 3-2 in Los Angeles.  A.J. Pollock and Sheldon Neuse hit back-to-back home runs for the Dodgers.  Walker Buehler allowed two runs over seven innings and struck out nine for LA.  Blake Treinen picked up the loss as the Dodgers have lost three of four.  The two sides go at it again tonight.

Blazers Host Grizzlies Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will defend home court tonight when they welcome the Grizzlies to the Moda Center.  Portland will look to end the three-game skid that dropped it to 32-and-26.  The Blazers will host Memphis again on Sunday. 

Lakers Come Up Short Against Mavericks

(Dallas, TX)  --  Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 29 points but the Lakers fell 115-110 to the Mavericks in Dallas.  Dennis Schroder added 25 points in the loss.  The Lakers fall to 35-and-24.  They meet the Mavericks again tomorrow.
 

Giants Blank Marlins

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Aaron Sanchez and four relievers combined to allow just two hits as the Giants blanked the Marlins 3-0 at home.  Curt Casali drove in two runs for the Giants.  Jake McGee picked up the save for San Francisco, which has won four of five.  The two meet again tonight.

(Lincoln, AL)  --  NASCAR is set to take on Talladega on Sunday.  Alex Bowman will be carrying plenty of momentum after winning at Richmond last week.  Denny Hamlin will be on the pole.  Hamlin will look to build off last week's second-place performance.  He will be joined up front by Joey Logano.

Blazers Fall To Nuggets

(Portland, OR)  --  Norman Powell missed the would-be buzzer beater as the Trail Blazers fell to the Nuggets 106-105 in Portland.  Damian Lillard led with 22 points while Powell finished with 17.  Portland has lost three in a row to slip to 32-and-26.  The Blazers host the Grizzlies tomorrow. 

Lakers At Mavericks Tonight

(Dallas, TX)  --  The Lakers are on the road tonight.  LA will visit the Dallas Mavericks.  The Lakers have lost two of three and are 35-and-23 on the season.

Halimon Death

An original member of first Portland Trail Blazers team has died.  Shaler Halimon was 76 years old.  Halimon played five years in the NBA.  He started with the Philadelphia 76'ers and was traded to the Chicago Bulls. He was acquired by the Blazers and finished his NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks.  He returned to Portland where he became a TriMet bus driver and earned TriMet's bus operator of the year award. He also continued with the Blazers as part of its alumni program.

Wizards Get By Warriors

(Washington, DC)  --  Bradley Beal logged 29 points and 10 rebounds to help the Wizards get by the Warriors 118-114 in DC.  Kelly Oubre Jr. led the charge for Golden State with 24 points and nine boards.  Jordan Poole chipped in 22 points as the Warriors lost for the second time in three games. 

Clippers Sail Past Grizzlies

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Luke Kennard scored 28 points as the Clippers sailed past the Grizzlies 117-105 in Los Angeles.  Marcus Morris Sr. added 25 for LA.  Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were both out for the Clippers.  Los Angeles has won 10 of its last 11 games.  The Clippers visit the Rockets tomorrow.

Athletics Outslug Twins In Extras

(Oakland, CA)  --  Elvis Andrus scored the winning run on an error in the bottom of the 10th as the Athletics outslugged the Twins 13-12 in Oakland.  Matt Olson hit two home runs for Oakland.  Seth Brown also went yard for the Athletics. Oakland has won 11 straight.  The Athletics visit the Orioles tomorrow.

Phillies Walk Off Giants In Ninth

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Andrew Knapp singled in the winning run in the ninth inning as the Phillies walked off the Giants 6-5 in Philadelphia.  Bryce Harper's solo homer in the seventh tied the game for Philly after San Francisco scored four times in the top half to take a 5-4 lead.  Darin Ruf hit a three-run shot for the Giants.  Wandy Peralta took the loss.  The Giants host the Marlins tonight.
 

Rangers Take Down Angels

(Anaheim, CA)  --  The Rangers scored four in the eighth and two in the ninth as they took down the Angels 7-4 in Anaheim.  The Angels hit four solo home runs in the loss.  Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Justin Upton, and Jose Iglesias went yard for LA.  The Angels have lost two of three.  Los Angeles will visit the Astros tonight.

Blazers Edged By Clippers

(Portland, OR)  --  CJ McCollum missed what would have been the game-winning jumpshot at the buzzer as the Trail Blazers were edged by the Clippers 113-112 at the Moda Center.  McCollum led with 28 points and Normal Powell added 23 in the loss.  Portland falls to 32-and-25 and hosts Denver tonight. 

Mariners Silenced By Dodgers

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners only managed one hit in their 1-0 loss to the Dodgers at T-Mobile Park.  Marco Gonzales and two relievers combined on a two-hitter in defeat.  Seattle slips to 11-and-7 and visits Boston tomorrow. 

Giants Use Long Ball To Down Phillies

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  The Giants homered five times on their way to a 10-7 win over the Phillies in Philadelphia.  Buster Posey went deep twice, while Tommy La Stella, Alex Dickerson, and Wilmer Flores also went yard.  Jose Alvarez picked up the win, San Francisco's third straight.  The Giants and Phillies finish the series today.

Angels Cruise Past Rangers

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Mike Trout hit his fifth home run of the season as the Angels cruised past the Rangers 6-2 in Anaheim.  Albert Pujols and Kurt Suzuki also went yard for the Angels.  Shohei Ohtani pitched four scoreless innings and struck out seven.  Griffin Canning got the win as Los Angeles won for the second time in three games.  The Angels wrap up the series with Texas this afternoon.

Warriors At Wizards Tonight

(Washington, D.C.)  --  The Warriors remain on the road tonight.  Golden State will visit the Washington Wizards.  The Warriors are 29-and-29 on the season.
 

Athletics Sweep Doubleheader With Twins

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Athletics kept the Twins scoreless through two seven inning games as they swept a doubleheader.   Oakland has won 10 straight.  The teams wrap up the three-game set today.

Mariners Hold Off Dodgers

(Seattle, WA)  --  Taylor Trammell hit a solo home run and hit an RBI double as the Mariners held off the Dodgers to win 4-3 in Seattle.  Jose Marmolejos launched a two run shot in the win.  Justus Sheffield got the win for the M's, who have won five of six.  They'll rematch with Los Angeles today. 

Blazers Host Clippers Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will be home tonight to host the Clippers at the Moda Center.  Portland will look to redeem itself after being dropped by LA two weeks ago.  The Blazers sit at 32-and-24.

Belt's Homer Lifts Giants Over Phillies

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Brandon Belt hit a two-run homer as the Giants beat the Phillies 2-0 in Philadelphia.  Austin Slater went 2-for-4 as San Francisco won its second-straight.  Kevin Gausman picked up his first win of the year, going six innings, giving up six hits while striking out five.  Wandy Peralta picked up his second save.  The Giants are 10-and-6 and meet the Phillies again tonight.

Angels Fall To Rangers

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Justin Upton homered but the Angels fell 6-4 to the Rangers at home.  Dylan Bundy allowed five runs over five innings to take the loss.  The Angels are 8-and-6.  The two teams meet again tonight.

Veteran NFL QB Alex Smith Retires

(Undated)  --  Quarterback Alex Smith is hanging up his cleats.  The 36-year-old announced his retirement Monday in a video on Instagram.  Smith was the first-overall pick by the 49ers in the 2005 draft.  He also played for the Chiefs and Washington, returning last season after a leg injury in 2018.

Athletics, Twins Set For Doubleheader

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Athletics are set to return to action this afternoon.  Oakland will battle the Twins at home in a doubleheader that will wrap up at night.  The Athletics are 9-and-7.

Blazers Edged By Hornets

(Charlotte, NC)  --  Carmelo Anthony led the Trail Blazers with 24 points off the bench but they were edged by the Hornets 109-101 in Charlotte.  CJ McCollum added 22 points and Norman Powell had 17 in the loss.  The Blazers have lost three of four to dip to 32-and-24.  They'll host the Clippers tomorrow. 

Mariners Roll Past Astros

(Seattle, WA)  --  It was a one-hitter as the Mariners rolled past the Astros 7-2 at T-Mobile Park.  Mitch Haniger hit the go-ahead RBI triple in the fifth and Ty France hit a two-run homer to expand the lead.  Haniger and France also brought home runs on doubles in the seventh.  Seattle improves to 10-and-6 and visits the Dodgers tonight.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Paul George scored 23 points as the Clippers blasted the Timberwolves 124-105 at home.  Marcus Morris Sr. added 19 for LA.  The Clippers are 40-and-19 and will visit the Trail Blazers tomorrow.

Hosmer Helps Padres Roll Past Dodgers

(San Diego, CA)  --  Eric Hosmer had the tying RBI double in the seventh and the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth as the Padres rolled past the Dodgers 5-2 in San Diego.  Chris Taylor gave Los Angeles an early lead with a two-run homer in the second.  Scott Alexander gave up the go-ahead run to take the loss as the Dodgers had their eight-game win streak snapped.  The Dodgers are at the Mariners tonight.

Alex Bowman Picks Up Win At Richmond

(Richmond, VA)  --  Alex Bowman only led 10 laps but took home the win at the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond.  Bowman started all the way back in 24th but managed to work his way to the front.  Denny Hamlin led 207 laps but finished second.  Joey Logano finished in third.  Christopher Bell and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the top five.

Athletics Clip Tigers, Finish Sweep

(Oakland, CA)  --  Matt Olson scored on an error in the ninth inning as the Athletics clipped the Tigers 3-2 at home to finish a four-game sweep.  Sean Murphy homered to tie the game in the eighth inning for the A's.  Chris Bassitt gave up two runs over six innings.  Lou Trivino picked up the win as Oakland won for the ninth time in 10 games.

(Miami, OR)  --  Alex Wood and four relievers combined on a three-hitter as the Giants blanked the Marlins 1-0 in Miami.  Wood got the win after five innings of three-hit ball while the relievers pitched four scoreless innings.  Alex Dickerson drove in the lone run of the game on a single in the third.  San Francisco ended a brief two-game skid.  The Giants are at the Phillies tonight.

Twins-A's Game Postponed

(Oakland, CA)  --  Tonight's game between the Twins and Athletics in Oakland is postponed due to COVID-19 issues with the Minnesota clubhouse.  The Twins also had games against the Angels on Saturday and Sunday postponed after at least four players tested positive for the virus in the last week.  The Twins and A's are now tentatively scheduled for a doubleheader tomorrow.

LaMarcus Aldridge Retires After 15 Seasons

(Portland, OR) -- It's been a long time since he left Portland, but LaMarcus Aldridge will always be a Blazer for life. Aldridge announced Thursday he is retiring after 15 seasons due to issues with an irregular heartbeat. The number-two pick of the 2006 Draft, Aldridge was a seven-time NBA All-Star, four times as a Trail Blazer. He is also Portland's all-time leading rebounder.

Dodgers Rally To Beat Rockies, Finish Sweep

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Max Muncy hit a go-ahead, three-run home run in the seventh inning as the Dodgers beat the Rockies 7-5 at home. Justin Turner also homered for Los Angeles. Jimmy Nelson picked up the win in relief as the Dodgers finished the sweep and moved to 11-and-2. LA will visit the Padres tonight.

Mariners Sweep Doubleheader In Baltimore

Mariners Sweep Doubleheader In Baltimore (Baltimore, MD) -- Justin Dunn just gets it done. He posted six strikeouts over five innings as the Mariners beat the Orioles 2-1 at Camden Yards, sweeping the doubleheader. Seattle won the first game 4-2. The M's return home to host the Houston Astros starting tonight.

(Oakland, CA) -- Matt Olson and Stephen Piscotty homered as the Athletics doubled up the Tigers 8-4 In Oakland. Oakland has won five straight. The two teams meet again tonight.

Matsuyama Wins The Masters

(Augusta, GA)  --  Hideki Matsuyama is celebrating his first career green jacket.  He shot a one-over 73 on Sunday, but held on to beat Will Zalatoris by one shot at The Masters.  Matsuyama finished at 10-under par, becoming the first male Japanese player to win a major.  Jordan Spieth tied for third.

Giants Blank Rockies, Finish Sweep

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Anthony DeSclafani threw six scoreless innings and struck out eight as the Giants blanked the Rockies 4-0 at home.  Brandon Belt and Alex Dickerson homered for the Giants.  Evan Longoria drove in two runs as San Francisco won its fourth straight and finished the sweep of Colorado.  The Giants will host the Reds tonight.

Jays, Angels Game Rained Out

(Dunedin, FL)  --  The game between the Angels and Blue Jays was rained out Sunday in Dunedin, Florida, the temporary home of Toronto.  It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader in Anaheim on August 10th, with each team being the home team in one of the games.  The Halos took the first two games of the series while the Jays won Saturday's tilt 15-1.  The Angels are at the Royals tonight.

MLB Officially Moves ASG To Denver

(New York, NY)  --  Major League Baseball is officially moving its All-Star Game to Colorado.  The league announced it is relocating the Midsummer Classic from Atlanta to Denver in response to Georgia's voter reform law.  Georgia Governor Brian Kemp says MLB is bending to the cancel culture.

Mariners Crushed By White Sox

(Seattle, WA)  --  Keynan Middleton gave up an eighth inning grand slam as the Mariners were crushed by the White Sox 10-4 at T-Mobile Park.  Mitch Haniger logged two RBI in defeat.  Nick Margevicius took the loss for Seattle, which lost its second in a row.  The M's close out their series against the Sox today.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Max Muncy hit a two-run homer as the Dodgers cruised past the Athletics 5-1 in Oakland.  Mookie Betts and Edwin Rios also homered for Los Angeles.  Clayton Kershaw gave up just one run over seven innings and struck out eight for the Dodgers, who have won five of six.  Ramon Laureano drove in the lone run for the Athletics.  Chris Bassitt allowed four runs over six innings for Oakland, which has lost all six games to begin the season.  The two teams will close out the series today.

(Indianapolis, IN) -- Baylor is the champion of men's college basketball. The Bears beat Gonzaga 86-70 in the NCAA Tournament title game in Indianapolis. Jalen Suggs led the Bulldogs with 22 points in defeat. Gonzaga was denied a perfect season, finishing 31-and-1.
