(Portland, OR)  --  New Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups is saying the 1997 rape allegations against him shaped his life at his opening press conference.  Billups did not face any criminal charges in the 1997 incident, but he settled a civil lawsuit filed by the woman.  Portland GM Neil Olshey said the Blazers commissioned their own independent investigation about the 1997 incident and found that Billups did nothing wrong.  When a follow-up question was asked about how the 1997 incident shaped Billups, Portland PR staff prevented Billups from answering the question.

Starting tomorrow, college athletes in Oregon will be able to sign contracts to make money from endorsements.  Oregon Governor Kate Brown signed a bill passed by the Legislators that allows athletes at public and private universities to receive compensation for use of the name, image and likeness. Seven states have already passed similar legislation and 13 other states have passed bills that will take effect soon.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Clippers will look to extend the Western Conference Finals in Game Six tonight against the Suns at home.  Los Angeles fought off elimination with a 116-102 win in Game Five.  Paul George showed up big, with 41 points and 13 rebounds for the Clippers.  The team trails the series 3-2.  Forward Kawhi Leonard is out with a right knee strain and has yet to play in the series.  Center Ivica Zubac is listed as questionable with a MCL sprain in his right knee. 

(Undated)  --  Carmelo Anthony is the first winner of the NBA's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award.  The Trail Blazers forward was selected for his dedication to social justice and for advancing Abdul-Jabbar's goal of pursuing equality for people who have been historically marginalized.  Anthony also received one hundred thousand dollars to contribute to an organization on his behalf and donated that money to the Portland Art Museum's Black Arts and Experiences Initiative.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Walker Buehler struck out seven as the Dodgers beat the Giants 3-1 at home.  The right-hander didn't allow a run until the seventh, throwing six-and-two-thirds innings and allowing just three hits.  He picked up his eighth win.  Max Muncy homered in the third for Los Angeles.  Chris Taylor delivered a two-run RBI double in the first.  Kenley Jansen escaped a jam to secure his 20th save.  The Dodgers sweep the Giants and have won five straight.  They hit the road to take on the Nationals, starting tomorrow.  

(Buffalo, NY)  --  The Mariners were defeated by the Blue Jays 9-3 in Buffalo.  Chris Flexen gave up seven hits and three runs in five innings.  Ty France put Seattle on the board with a three-run home run in the sixth inning.  The series continues tonight.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Three A's players went deep as the team fell to the Rangers 5-4 at home.  Matt Chapman led off the first with his 11th bomb of the year, extending his hitting streak to 16 games.  Jed Lowrie and Mitch Moreland each homered in the ninth to rally Oakland.  Righty James Kaprielian suffered his second loss, allowing three runs over six innings.  The A's have lost three of their last four.  They continue the series tonight. 

(Bronx, NY)  --  Shohei Ohtani launched two home runs as the Angels fell to the Yankees 11-5 in the Bronx.  Ohtani became the MLB's home run leader with his 27th and 28th homers of the year.  He sent shots deep in the third and fifth innings off New York's James Taillon.  He has 11 home runs in the last 13 games for Los Angeles.  Southpaw Andrew Heaney was charged his sixth loss, allowing seven runs over three innings.  Angels lost their six in the last eight games.  They continue the series tonight.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers will officially introduce their new head coach Chauncey Billups today.  Billups has been an assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers since 2020 and played in the NBA from 1997 through 2014, making five All Star teams and winning the Finals MVP with the 2004 Detroit Pistons championship team.  The Blazers will hold a news conference with Billups at Noon today.

(Portland, OR)  --  In an interview with a Bosnian news outlet, Jusuf Nurkic said that if Damian Lillard leaves Portland, then he wants out too.  Yahoo Sports reported Sunday that fan backlash to the coaching search and concerns about the Blazers' ability to build a title-contending roster could cause Damian Lillard to leave Portland.  Nurkic averaged 11-point-5 points and nine rebounds in 37 games played last season.

(Undated)  --  NBA great Scottie Pippen thinks his former Chicago Bulls coach Phil Jackson is a racist.  Speaking on "The Dan Patrick Show," Pippen said Jackson's decision to let Toni Kukoc [[ koo-kowch ]], a White rookie, get the potential Game 3-winning shot in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks was a "racial move."  Pippen added he was having an MVP-caliber season in the absence of former teammate Michael Jordan -- who retired to play baseball prior to the 1993-94 season.  Patrick then asked if he thought Jackson was a racist.  Pippen responded, "Oh yea."

(Undated)  --  Paul George went off for 41 points, 13 rebounds and six assists as the Clippers staved off elimination with a 116-102 win over the Suns in Game Five in Phoenix.  Reggie Jackson added 23 points as the Clippers cut the series deficit to three games to two in favor of the Suns.  

Tonight, the Bucks visit the Hawks for Game Four.  Trae Young is questionable as he battles an ankle and foot issue.  Milwaukee leads the series, 2-1.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout was moved to the 60-day injured list as he continues to recover from a right calf strain.  Trout suffered the injury on May 17th and was projected to miss six-to-eight weeks.  Angels manager Joe Maddon said the outfielder is more than fifty percent healed and is "doing really well."  Trout will be out until after the MLB All-Star break and is eligible to return on July 17th for Los Angeles.  

(London, England)  --  Americans are making waves on the first day at Wimbledon.  Frances Tiafoe pulled the first major upset of the tournament on the men's side by knocking off fourth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets.  The 23-year-old Hyattsville, Maryland, native won 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. On the women's side, 28-year-old Sloane Stephens upset two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-4 on Centre Court.  Today, Roger Federer and the number-two seeded Daniil Medvedev will be in action while Americans Alison Riske, Venus Williams and Serena Williams will all be on the court.

(Portland, OR) -- The Blazers have hired Chauncey Billups as their next head coach. Billups has been an assistant with the Clippers since 2020 and played in the NBA from 1997 to 2014, making five All Star teams and winning the Finals MVP with the 2004 Detroit Pistons championship team. The Blazers fired Terry Stotts after finishing 42-and-30 and losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Denver Nuggets.

(Portland, OR) -- According to Yahoo Sports, fan backlash to the coaching search and concerns about the Blazers' ability to build a title-contending roster could spur Damian Lillard to leave Portland. Los Angeles dropped Game Four 84-80, behind a cold-shooting fourth quarter. They trail the series 3-games-to-1. Forward Kawhi Leonard was ruled out with a right knee strain and has yet to play in the series. The Suns are a win away from making their first NBA Finals since 1993.

(Chicago, IL) -- The Mariners and White Sox split two games in Chicago. The two teams resumed a rained out game from Saturday starting in the third inning and Seattle won 3-2. Taylor Trammell his two solo homers and Ty France added another solo bomb for the Mariners. The White Sox won 7-5 in a seven-inning Game Two. Mitch Haniger launched a three-run homer in the seventh for Seattle. Both teams combined to use 12 relievers in Game Two. The Mariners start a three-game road series against the Blue Jays tomorrow night.

(Chicago, IL) -- Mariners reliever Hector Santiago was ejected for having a foreign substance in the first Mariners-White Sox game on Sunday. Santiago became the first MLB pitcher to get ejected for the new rule when it happened in the fifth inning. After the game, Santiago said that he was only using rosin and that his sweat made it appear like a foreign substance.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Clayton Kershaw struck out 13 batters as the Dodgers beat the Cubs 7-1 at home. The southpaw picked up his ninth win, throwing eight frames and allowing just four hits. The 13 strikeouts were Kershaw's most since July 9th, 2017 against the Royals. Zack McKinstry hit a grand slam in the second to break open scoring for Los Angeles. Cody Bellinger homered for his second straight game with a two-run blast. The Dodgers have won three straight. They start a series at home against the Giants tonight.

(Portland, OR) -- The Timbers lost to Minnesota United 1-nil on Saturday in Portland. Minnesota went up early with a goal from Adrien Hunou in the second minute. With the loss, Portland is now seventh in the MLS Western Conference with 13 points.

(Undated)  --  Paul George scored 27 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Clippers roughed up the Suns 106-92 in Game Three of the Western Conference Finals in Los Angeles.  Reggie Jackson added 23 points in the win.  Chris Paul and Devin Booker combined to shoot just 10-of-40 in the loss.  Phoenix still leads the series 2-1.  Tonight, the Hawks and Bucks clash in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Finals in Milwaukee.  Atlanta leads the series one game to nothing.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Chicago Cubs have thrown a combined no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers in L-A, winning 4-nothing.  Zach Davies, Ryan Tepera, Andrew Chafin, and Craig Kimbrel combined for the no-no, surrendering eight walks.  Javy Baez hit a first inning homerun to put Chicago ahead and Willson Contreras hit a two-run shot in the sixth to pad their lead. 

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  The Indiana Pacers are hiring Rick Carlisle as their next head coach.  The deal is reportedly a 29-million-dollar contract for four years.  Carlisle served as coach of the Pacers from 2003 to 2007 and made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2004.  The former coach of the year recently stepped down as the coach of the Dallas Mavericks where he won the NBA Championship in 2011.

(Cromwell, CT)  --  Satoshi Kodaira has a share of the lead at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, after an exceptional opening round on Thursday.  Kodaira shot a seven-under 63, highlighted by an eagle two on the par-four second hole at TPC River Highlands.  He was matched only by Kramer Hickok, who tallied eight birdies and a bogey in the opening round.  Talor Gooch is in third, one stroke back at six-under heading into the second round.

(Undated)  --  The Canadiens are going back to the Stanley Cup Final.  They topped the Golden Knights 3-2 in Game Six of the Stanley Cup Semifinals.  Carey Price made 37 saves in the win.  On Friday, it's all or nothing for the Islanders and Lightning as they do battle in Tampa Bay in Game Seven.  The two teams have battled to a three-three series after New York won Game Six in Uniondale.  Anthony Beauvillier scored in overtime to force Game Seven.

(Houston, TX)  --  The Portland Timbers drew with Houston Dynamo FC 2-2 in Houston.  Dairon Asprilla and Jeremy Ebobisse scored in the second half for Portland.  The Timbers are fifth in the MLS Western Conference standings with 13 points.

(Undated)  --  The Celtics are planning to hire Nets assistant coach Ime Udoka as their new head coach.  Udoka will replace Brad Stevens, who recently took over as Boston's president of basketball operations.  The coach joins the Celtics after one season as an assistant on Steve Nash's staff in Brooklyn.  He previously spent seven seasons as an assistant with the Spurs and one with the 76ers, winning a NBA championship in 2014.  Udoka also played in the NBA from 2004-to-2011. 

(Undated)  --  Kevin Durant and Damian Lillard will highlight the United States' men's Olympic basketball team when they take the court next month in Tokyo.  However, Team USA will be without Durant's Brooklyn teammate, James Harden, who had previously committed to play.  He will be sitting out with an injured hamstring.  Among those named the team will be Durant's former Golden State teammate Draymond Green, Bradley Beal, Bam Adebayo, Kevin Love, and others.

(Undated)  --  Trae Young scored 48 points and dished out 11 assists as the Hawks topped the Bucks 116-113 in Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals in Milwaukee.  John Collins added 23 points and 15 rebounds for the Hawks.  Atlanta takes a 1-0 series lead.  Tonight, the Suns will visit the Clippers for Game Three of the Western Conference Finals.  Phoenix holds a 2-0 series lead.

(Flushing, NY)  --  Mets slugger Pete Alonso has entered the 2021 Home Run Derby, giving him a chance to defend his 2019 derby title.  Alonso made the official announcement on his Instagram page and has 11 bombs so far this season.  The Mets first baseman hit 23 homers in the final round of the 2019 derby to defeat Toronto's Vladimir Guerrero Jr.  All-Star festivities will be at Coors Field this year, so expect some extra long moonshots from the Alonso in high altitude.

(New York, NY)  --  The N-F-L scouting combine could be on the move.  According to E-S-P-N, the league is informing its member clubs that it will begin accepting bids from other cities to host the annual evaluation beginning in 2023.  The Indianapolis Business Journal said the league is looking to elevate the event to one of the marquee moments of the season.  The combine has been held in Indianapolis since 1987.  

(Uniondale, NY)  --  Anthony Beauvillier capitalized on a turnover deep in the offensive zone to score 1:08 into overtime as the Islanders beat the Lightning 3-2 in Game Six in Uniondale.  With the win, New York forces a Game Seven on Friday night in Tampa.  Brayden Point scored in the first period for Tampa Bay, his ninth goal in as many games.  Tonight, the Golden Knights will try and force a Game Seven themselves as they battle the Canadiens in Montreal.

(Undated)  --  The group play stage of the Euro Championship ended with a thriller Wednesday.  Germany survived with a 2-2 draw thanks to an 84th minute goal against Hungary to advance to the Round of 16.  They'll play England in London in the knockout rounds, which start Saturday.  Also advancing to face off in the Round of 16 are Wales and Denmark, Italy and Austria, Netherlands and Czech Republic, Belgium and Portugal, Croatia and Spain, France and Switzerland, and Sweden and Ukraine.

(Undated)  --  The United States Women's National Team will return 17 of 18 players from their Women's World Cup winning roster as they seek gold at the Olympics next month.  Thirty-nine-year-old Carli Lloyd will become the oldest Olympian in women's soccer history as she leads the women into Tokyo.  She and Tobin Heath will be playing in their fourth Olympiad, as Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Kelley O'Hara will become three-time Olympians.  Kristie Mewis, who is the sister of midfielder and teammate Sam Mewis, is the lone new face on the USWNT. 

(Cromwell, CT)  --  Dustin Johnson will look to defend his title at the Travelers Championship starting Thursday at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.  The blooming feud between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will be sure to tantalize viewers and patrons alike.  However, the two will have tee times separated by nearly five hours.  Last week's U.S. Open winner, Jon Rahm, will not be playing in this week's PGA Tour event.  

(Undated) -- The Canadiens are one step away from the Stanley Cup Final as they beat the Golden Knights 4-1 in Las Vegas in Game Five. Carey Price made 26 saves as the Habs put Vegas on the brink of elimination, going up three-games-to-two in the best-of-seven series. Game Six is Thursday in Montreal. Tonight, the Islanders have a tall task in front of them as they look to prevent elimination against the Lightning. They're down three-games-to-two as they return to Uniondale for Game Six.

(Portland, OR) -- The Portland Timbers are delaying the start of their Saturday game in response to sweltering heat in the forecast. Temperatures are expected to hit 100 degrees and above in the Portland area on Saturday. The Timbers are delaying the start of their game against Minnesota United until 8 p.m. when it's cooler. The game was originally set to start at 7:30.

(Phoenix, AZ) -- Paul George scored 26 points as the Clippers lost to the Suns 104-103 in Game Two of the Western Conference Finals in Phoenix. George nearly sealed a Los Angeles win, but missed two crunch time free throws to give Phoenix a chance to win. Deandre Ayton took advantage with a game-winning dunk with 0.7 seconds left to give the Suns a two-zero lead in the series. It's the third time the Clippers have had a two-games-to-none deficit in this year's playoffs. Forward Kawhi Leonard missed his fourth game with a right knee strain. Game Three is tomorrow night.

(Anaheim, CA) -- Anthony DeSclafani threw seven scoreless innings as the Giants beat the Angels 5-0 in Anaheim. The right-hander allowed only three hits and struck out nine for his eighth win of the year. Wilmer Flores and Mauricio Dubon each went deep for San Francisco. The Giants have won eight of their last ten. Jose Iglesias was 2-for-4 at the plate, with a double. Andrew Heaney took his fifth loss, despite tying a season-high with 10 strikeouts. He allowed five runs over six frames. The Angels lose their second straight. The teams continue the series this afternoon.

(San Diego, CA) -- Austin Barnes homered as the Dodgers fell to the Padres 3-2 in San Diego. The catcher went deep in the ninth inning for his third of the year. Chris Taylor was only Los Angeles player with more than one hit, going 3-for-5 at the plate. Lefty Clayton Kershaw was charged his seventh loss, allowing three runs over six innings. He gave up two home runs and struck out seven. The Dodgers have lost two straight. They look to avoid the sweep tonight.

(Seattle, WA) -- The Mariners edged the Rockies 2-1 in Seattle. Chris Flexen struck out six and gave up just one run in six-and-two-thirds innings. JP Crawford picked up an RBI single in the fifth and Shed Long Jr. broke a 1-1 tie with a solo bomb in the eighth inning. The series wraps up this afternoon.

(Arlington, TX) -- The A's had 15 hits as the team beat the Rangers 13-6 in Arlington. Mark Canha, Ramon Laureano and Elvis Andrus tallied three hits each for Oakland. Third baseman Matt Chapman launched his ninth long ball of the year with a two-run homer in the first. The A's led 9-to-zero after the third. Southpaw Cole Irvin notched his fifth win, pitching five innings and striking out four. Oakland snaps a three-game losing skid. The team continues the series tonight.

(Portland, OR)  --  Becky Hammon and Chauncey Billups have advanced to second interviews for the Blazers open head coaching position, according to ESPN.  Billups is currently an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers and Hammon is an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs. Hammon would be the first female head coach in NBA history if hired.

(Washington, DC)  --  The Supreme Court is allowing college athletes to receive benefits.  The High Court ruled 9-0 against the NCAA Monday in a case involving a player from the West Virginia University and other student athletes. The athletes argued the NCAA's restrictions on education-related benefits such as paid internships, computers, and other equipment, violated federal antitrust law.  The ruling is a blow to the NCAA, striking down some of its long-held "amateurism" rules.  The ruling comes just as some states are pushing for student-athletes to receive monetary compensation.

(Undated)  --  The Houston Astros took a combined no hitter into the eighth inning as they beat the Orioles 10-2 in Baltimore.    

In Phoenix, the Diamondbacks snapped their 17-game losing-streak behind seven innings of one-run ball from Merrill Kelly as they beat the Brewers 5-1.  

In Queens, New York, Jacob deGrom was dominant again as he gave up one hit over five shutout innings as the Mets beat the Braves 4-2 in Game One of their double hitter.  Atlanta took the second-game of the twin-bill 1-nothing.  

(Undated)  --  The NBA Playoffs resume tonight, as the Clippers visit the Suns for Game Two of the Western Conference Finals in Phoenix.  The Suns took Game One with a 120-114 win on Sunday.  The Suns are expected to remain without Chris Paul as he is in the league's health and safety protocols while Kawhi [[ ka-WHY ]] Leonard won't take the court for the Clippers as he battles a knee injury.  Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Bucks and Hawks will begin tomorrow.

(Undated)  --  Brayden Point scored a goal in his eighth-straight playoff game as the Lightning utterly dominated the Islanders 8-nothing in Game Five in Tampa.   Tampa Bay took a three-games-to-two lead in the best-of-seven series.  Tonight, the series between the Canadiens and the Golden Knights shifts back to Nevada.  Vegas took Game Four 2-1 thanks to an overtime goal from Nicolas Roy.  The best-of-seven series is tied at two-games apiece.

(La Jolla, CA)  --  Jon Rahm is the winner of the 121st U.S. Open at the South Course at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California.  Rahm dramatically birdied 17 and 18 to go from one shot down to one shot up and finish at six-under for the tournament.  He shot a four-under 67 come from three-strokes back at the start of Sunday and win the third major of the season.  It's the 26-year-old's first career major championship.  Rahm famously had to withdraw from the Memorial Tournament two weeks ago when leading by six strokes heading into the final round due to a positive COVID test.

(Undated)  --  Nicolas Roy  scored 1:18 into overtime to lift the Golden Knights to a 2-1 win over the Canadiens in Montreal.  Robin Lehner made 27 saves as Vegas tied the best-of-seven series at two-games-apiece.  The Islanders are looking to capitalize on their momentum as they travel to Tampa tonight to take on the Lightning in Game Five.  New York won Game Four 3-2 in Uniondale. 

(Undated)  --  The Suns are striking the first blow of the Western Conference Finals with a 120-114 win over the Clippers in Game One in Phoenix.  Devin Booker finished with a triple-double with 40 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.  Game Two is Tuesday.  Kevin Huerter scored 27 points as the Hawks defeated the 76ers 103-96 in Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in Philadelphia.  Atlanta advances to the Eastern Conference Finals to face the Milwaukee Bucks.  Game One is Wednesday.

(Lebanon, TN)  --  Kyle Larson is keeping his spot in victory lane.  Larson took home the win at the NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville.  It's the fourth-straight week Larson has found his way into victory lane, after wins at the All-Star Race, Sonoma, and Charlotte.  Ross Chastain finished in second.  William Byron took third while Aric Almirola and Kevin Harvick rounded out the top five.

(Undated)  --  The losing is reaching historic lows for the Diamondbacks, who fell 9-8 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Phoenix.  The Snakes have now lost 17-straight, a franchise record, and are 1-and-17 for the month of June.  In the game, Albert Pujols passed Mel Ott for 14th on the career runs list.  In the Bronx, the Yankees ended their 2-1 win over the Athletics with a 5-4-3 triple play.  New York has won two-straight and five-of-six.  

(Eugene, OR)  --  Allyson Felix is making her fifth Olympic team after finishing in second place in the 400 meters with a time of 50-point-zero-two seconds.  Felix has already won six gold medals and this will be the 35-year-old's first Olympics as a mother.  She will also run in the 200 meters later this week at the Olympic trials, but would not be able to run in both races in Tokyo because of the schedule.  Quanera Hayes won the race with a time of 49-point-seven-eight seconds and Wadeline Jonathas also qualified for the Olympics with a third-place finish in the 400.

(Milwaukee, WI)  --  The Bucks and Nets are going the distance in the Eastern Conference semifinals.  Khris Middleton scored 38 points as the Bucks forced a Game Seven with a 104-89 win over the Nets in Game Six in Milwaukee.  Kevin Durant had 32 points in defeat for the Nets.  Game Seven will be Saturday in Brooklyn.  On Friday, the Hawks will look to close out the 76ers in Game Six in Philadelphia, and the Clippers will look to finish off the Jazz in the sixth game of their series in Los Angeles.

(Dallas, TX)  --  Rick Carlisle is no longer the coach of the Dallas Mavericks.  Carlisle told ESPN he let Mavs owner Mark Cuban know today he was resigning calling it solely his own decision.  The Mavericks released an official announcement not long after.  He also says it's been a great 13 years in Dallas and it was an honor working with Cuban.  The Mavs said yesterday Donnie Nelson wouldn't return as GM.  Carlisle won a title with Dallas in 2011.  He is planning to stay in coaching.

(Lebanon, TN)  --  The NASCAR Cup Series will look to play a new tune in the Music City on Sunday.  It will be the first cup race in history at Nashville Superspeedway.  It's the first cup race in Nashville since 1984.  Kyle Larson rolls into the race with plenty of momentum after winning the NASCAR All-Star Race.  Larson also picked up a win the week prior at Sonoma Raceway.

(Undated)  --  The Tampa Bay Lightning are taking back home-ice advantage in their Stanley Cup semifinal series with the Islanders after a 2-1 win in Game Three in New York.  Brayden Point's 11th goal of the postseason was the difference as the Bolts grabbed a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven set.  Game Four is Saturday in New York.  The other semifinal series between the Golden Knights and Canadiens shifts to Montreal for Game Three tomorrow night.  That best-of-seven set is tied at one game apiece after the teams split the first two games in Sin City.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners could only muster five hits in a 7-2 loss to the Twins in Seattle.  Justus Sheffield allowed ten hits and seven runs in five innings.  Shed Long hit an RBI single in the fifth and Ty France added a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.  Seattle starts a four-game home series against the Tampa Bay Rays tonight.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers are planning on bringing back Kevin Calabro as their lead broadcaster, according to the Oregonian.  Calabro was with the broadcast from 2016 until last summer when he abruptly left.  The Blazers are moving to ROOT Sports this upcoming season.

(San Francisco, CA)  -- Five players homered as the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 13-7 at home.  San Francisco handed Arizona its 22nd straight road loss, tying the MLB record.  Buster Posey hit a three-run homer in the first for the Giants.   The Giants have won five of their last seven.  They wrap up the series tonight.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Dodgers combined for only five hits as they lost to the Phillies 2-0 at home.  It was the first time Los Angeles has been shutout in 162 regular and postseason games.  Gavin Lux went 2-for-3 at the plate.  Clayton Kershaw took his sixth loss, despite throwing six frames and striking out nine. The Dodgers miss the sweep of Philadelphia and as their three-game winning streak came to an end.  L.A. starts a road series with the Diamondbacks tomorrow.

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  Paul George scored 37 points as the Clippers made a statement, beating the Jazz 119-111 in Game Five in Utah.  George picked up the scoring load, recording his postseason-high and grabbing 16 rebounds.  L.A. was without forward Kawhi Leonard, who suffered a knee injury in Game Four.  He is listed as out indefinitely.  The Clippers are now just one win away from their first ever trip to the Western Conference Finals.  They host Game Six tomorrow.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Ramon Laureano homered as the A's beat the Angels 8-4 at home.  Laureano put Oakland on the board after the Angels led 4-0.  The A's would score six in the sixth inning to secure the sweep of Los Angeles.  Matt Olson went 3-for-4 at the plate, driving in one run for Oakland.   The A's have won 12 of their last 14 to widen their AL West lead.  They head to New York to start a series with the Yankees tomorrow.  

(Undated)  --  Damian Lillard has committed to play for Team USA Basketball in this summer's Olympics in Tokyo, according to the Athletic.  This will be Lillard's first time competing with the United States basketball team.  Draymond Green has also committed to play for Team USA this summer.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard was voted to the All-NBA second team.  This is Lillard's sixth selection to an All-NBA team.  Lillard averaged 28.8 points and 7.5 assist per game for the Blazers and shot just over 39-percent from three.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Mookie Betts hit a go-ahead home run as the Dodgers beat the Phillies 5-3 at home.  Betts had three hits and drove in two runs for Los Angeles.  His solo home run broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning.  Joe Kelly earned his second and Blake Treinen picked up his third save.  The Dodgers have won seven of their last eight.  Los Angeles goes for the series sweep tonight.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Chris Flexen was spectacular in the Mariners 10-0 win over Minnesota in Seattle.  Flexen threw eight scoreless frames and finished with eight strikeouts, four hits and zero walks.  J.P. Crawford, Luis Torrens and Ty France each hit solo homers and Shed Long drove in three runs on a triple in the second inning.  Crawford, France and Jake Bauers each had three hits.  The series wraps up tonight.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Sean Murphy went deep as the A's beat the Angels 6-4 at home.  The catcher homered in his second straight game for Oakland.  Shortstop Elvis Andrus went 2-for-4 at the plate, driving in a pair of runs.  Frankie Montas picked up his seventh win, pitching seven innings and striking out eight.  Yusmeiro Petit earned his second save.  The A's extend their win streak to five games.  Oakland goes for the sweep in series finale today.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Mike Yastrzemski hit a go-ahead grand slam as the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 9-8 at home.  The right fielder emptied the bases with a home run in the eighth to give San Francisco its first lead of the game.  The Giants trailed by seven in the second inning.  Jimmie Sherfy earned his first of the year.  Tyler Rogers shut down the ninth for his ninth save.  San Francisco handed Arizona its 21st straight road loss, one short of the MLB record.  The Giants continue the series tonight.  

(Undated)  --  Major League Baseball is reportedly set to crack down on the use of foreign substances.  According to ESPN, the league is expected to issue ten-day suspensions to any players caught using foreign substances.  Teams are expected to receive a memo outlining plans to cut down on use of substances from pitchers in both the National and American Leagues.  The issue stems from the use of SpiderTack, which is a heavy duty glue that has become a go-to tool for pitchers.

(Portland, OR) -- Former NBA head coach Mike D'Antoni interviewed for the Blazers open head coaching position, according to ESPN. D'Antoni is currently an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets after head coaching stops with the Nuggets, Suns, Knicks, Lakers and Rockets. Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon and Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups are also set to interview for the job this week.

(Omaha, NE)  --  Virginia and Mississippi State are living to fight another day as they've won their super regionals and are headed to the College World Series in Omaha.  The Cavaliers beat Dallas Baptist 5-2 Monday and will play Tennessee on Saturday when the World Series opens up.  The Bulldogs advanced by beating Notre Dame 11-7.  They'll play Texas.  Also in action Saturday will be NC State playing Stanford, and Arizona facing Vanderbilt. 

(London, England)  --  The men's and women's singles finals at Wimbledon will be played with full capacity at center court, the All England Club is announcing.  It will be the first outdoor sporting event in the United Kingdom to host a full crowd since the start of the pandemic.  Wimbledon was canceled last year due to COVID.  The prestigious tennis major will kick off June 28th. 

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The W-N-B-A's All Star Game will be held at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas on July 14th with a new format.  The game will match All-Stars voted in who are members of the United States women's national team versus the others, called Team WNBA.  Rosters will be announced June 30th.  The league will break from July 11th and resume after the Tokyo Olympics on August 15th. 

(Undated)  --  Speculation is running wild after E-A Sports released its first teaser trailer for its Madden 22 video game.  In the video, featuring Madden NFL 11 cover athlete Peyton Hillis, sees the former running back walk out of a barn with two goats and says "They did it again."  Goats, or GOAT [[ pronounced goat ]] is a common acronym used in sports for "Greatest Of All Time."  Fans are believing it could be teasing Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the GOAT and the next GOAT, as the cover athletes, as they met in last season's Super Bowl.  We'll find out for sure on Thursday at 10 a.m. Eastern, according to the official Madden Twitter account.

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  Fresh off a sweep of Kansas City, the Angels start a three-game series with the Diamondbacks tonight in Phoenix.  Shohei Ohtani takes the mound for Los Angeles, making his ninth start of the year.  He leads the team with a 2.76 earned run average, while hitting a team-high 17 home runs and 44 runs batted in.  The Angels are 6-and-2 in June and have won three straight.

(Pittsburgh, PA)  --  Julio Urias picked up his MLB-leading ninth win as the Dodgers took down the Pirates 6-3 in Pittsburgh.  The game was called in the eighth due to rain as the Dodgers swept the Pirates.  Urias pitched six innings, allowing three runs and striking out five.  Urias knocked in a pair of runs in the third.  Mookie Betts went deep for his sixth of the year for Los Angeles.  The Dodgers return home tonight to start a three-game series with the Rangers. 

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  Donovan Mitchell scored 37 points as the Jazz pushed past the Clippers 117-111 in Game Two in Salt Lake City.  Jordan Clarkson scored 24 points off the bench for Utah.  Joe Ingles provided 19 for the Jazz, who take a 2-0 series lead.  Reggie Jackson scored 29 points to lead the Clippers.  Paul George posted 27 points for Los Angeles.  Game Three is Saturday in LA.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Jed Lowrie homered as the A's fell to the Royals 6-1 at home.  Lowrie went deep for his fifth of the year, scoring Oakland's only run.  Frankie Montas suffered his sixth loss.  The A's had won their previous two.  Oakland continues the series tonight, sending Cole Irvin to the mound.

(Washington, DC)  --  The Giants are again slated to open their road series with the Nationals later today in Washington DC.  Game one was postponed yesterday due to rain.  Anthony DeSclafani draws the start for San Francisco as he seeks his sixth win.  Max Scherzer is opposite him for Washington.  The Giants have won seven of their last 10 and sit first in the NL West.  First pitch is slated for 4:05 p.m. Pacific.

(Portland, OR)  --  Blazers GM Neil Olshey said in a press conference that Portland's round one series loss to Denver was "Not a product of the roster."  He also noted that there are 20 to 25 candidates for the open head coaching position.  The franchise fired former head coach Terry Stotts on Friday

(Undated)  --  The Ducks and Beavers both lost their regional final games and will not move on in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.  The Beavers fell to Dallas Baptist 8-5 in the Fort Worth Regional and the Ducks lost to LSU 9-8 in the Eugene Regional.  The only Pac-12 teams that made it to the Super Regionals are Arizona and Stanford.

(Undated)  --  Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic has been sent down to Triple-A amid an 0-for-39 slump.  The prized prospect was batting .096 before getting sent down and second baseman Shed Long has been reinstated from the injured list.  The M's start a three-game road series with the Detroit Tigers tonight.

(Renton, WA)  --  Experienced players, including Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner, showed up to Seahawks offseason OTAs.  With Seattle's veterans returning, there were 76 players who practiced yesterday.  The Seahawks veterans planned to stay away from voluntary workouts due to COVID-19 and took place in virtual team meetings this offseason.

(Undated)  --  The Nets led by as many as 49 points as they obliterated the Bucks 125-86 in Game Two in Brooklyn.  Kevin Durant and company take a 2-0 series lead on the road to Milwaukee for Game Three.  Chris Paul had 21 points and 11 assists as the Suns pushed past the Nuggets 122-105 in Game One in Phoenix.  Tonight, the Hawks will visit the 76ers for Game Two and the Jazz host the Clippers for the first game of their series.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Max Stassi went deep as the Angels beat the Royals 8-3 at home.  Stassi went 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring and driving in three runs.   Dylan Bundy earned his first win of the season, allowing two runs over five-and-two-thirds innings.  The series continues tonight.

(Undated)  --  The Ducks and Beavers are playing in Regional Final Games today with a trip to the Super Regionals on the line.  Oregon lost to LSU yesterday and will play the Tigers again today in the regional final.  Oregon State topped TCU and Dallas Baptist yesterday and will play Dallas Baptist again today in the regional final.  Gonzaga was eliminated by LSU yesterday.

(Undated)  --  Jason Kidd has removed himself from consideration for the open head coaching job with the Blazers, according to ESPN.  Kidd's name got into the mix on Friday when Yahoo Sports reported Damian Lillard identified Kidd as a candidate for the job.  Kidd has been an assistant coach with the Lakers for three seasons.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Behind a big game from Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers took down the Dallas Mavericks 126-111 in game seven.  Leonard had 28 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for L.A..  It was the first time in the series that the home team won.  Luka Doncic put on a show with 46 points and 14 assists for Dallas.  The Clippers used a 24-to-4 run in third quarter to distance themselves.  The Clippers face the Jazz in the conference semifinals starting tomorrow in Utah.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  The Giants fell to the Cubs 4-3 at home. LaMonte Wade Jr. hit his first career leadoff home run.  Buster Posey went 3-for-4 at the plate.  The Giants were denied the four-game sweep.  They start a two-game series in Texas tomorrow.

(Cumberland, GA)  --  Albert Pujols went deep but the Dodgers fell to the Braves 4-2 at Atlanta.  Pujols also had RBI single in the fourth for the Dodgers, who dropped two-of-three in the series.  Trevor Bauer surrendered three runs over six innings to suffer his fourth loss.  The Dodgers continue their road trip in Pittsburgh tomorrow.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Logan Gilbert helped the Mariners get off to a good start and beat the Angels 9-5 in Anaheim.  Gilbert struck out seven and allowed one earned run in five innings and got his first MLB win.  Seattle split its four-game series with the Angels.  The M's start a three-game road series with the Detroit Tigers tomorrow.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Blazers season is over after a 126-115 Game Six loss to the Nuggets in Portland.  Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 28 points and CJ McCollum chipped in with 21.  Nikola Jokic led Denver with 36 points, followed by Michael Porter Jr. with 26 and Monte Morris with 22 points.

(Undated)  --  Oregon, Oregon State and Gonzaga play their first NCAA Tournament Regional games today.  The Ducks host the Eugene regional and play Central Connecticut State while Gonzaga plays LSU in the other game of the Eugene regional.  The Beavers play Dallas Baptist in Fort Worth.

(Dallas, TX)  --  On the brink of elimination, the Clippers will need to force a game seven in Dallas tonight.  The Mavericks stole game five on the road, beating L.A. 105-100 behind 42 points from Luka Doncic.  Clippers center Serge Ibaka is unlikely to make his return as he battles a back injury.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Anthony Davis exiting early and hot shooting doomed the Lakers as the Phoenix Suns clinched the series with a 113-100 victory.  LeBron James tallied 29 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Los Angeles.  Davis played only five minutes as he was listed questionable with a groin injury coming into the game.  The defending champs exit in the first round of the NBA playoffs.  That marks a first in the career of James.  The Suns move on to face the Denver Nuggets in the conference semifinals.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Jake Fraley and Kyle Seager hit home runs in the Mariners 6-2 win over the Angels in Anaheim.  Fraley launched a three-run bomb in the fourth and Seager hit a solo shot in the seventh for the Mariners, who have won six of their past eight games.  Justus Sheffield struck out seven and gave up two runs in five-and-two-thirds innings.  The series continues tonight.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Blazers announced that capacity at the Moda Center will be increased to 10-thousand fans for Game Six against Denver.  The arena's seating capacity had previously been eight-thousand fans. 

(Portland, OR)  --  After a 147-140 double overtime loss in Game Five in Denver, the Blazers are back home for a win-or-go-home Game Six tonight in Portland.  The Blazers face a 3-2 series deficit even though Damian Lillard had 55 points and 10 assists in their Game Five defeat.  Portland split Game Three and Game Four on its home court earlier in the series.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners could only muster four hits in a 6-0 loss to Oakland in Seattle.  Chris Flexen had a game to forget after allowing five runs in six innings.  Sean Manaea tossed a complete game shutout for the A's, who took two-of-three in the series.  The Mariners start a four-game road series against the Los Angeles Angels tonight.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Lakers are looking to avoid elimination tonight.  Los Angeles will host the Phoenix Suns for Game Six of the first round.  The Lakers trail the series 3-2 after a 115-85 loss to the Suns in Phoenix in Game Five.  Anthony Davis remains questionable as he battles a groin injury.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Luka Doncic had 42 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds as the Mavericks topped the Clippers 105-100 in Game Five in Los Angeles.  Paul George led the Clippers with 23 points.  Kawhi Leonard and Reggie Jackson each scored 20 for Los Angeles.  The Clippers trail the series three games to two.  Game Six is in Dallas on Friday.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Matt Beaty homered but the Dodgers lost 3-2 to the Cardinals at home.  Will Smith had two hits in the loss.  Blake Treinen took the loss in relief.  The Dodgers have lost four of five.  They host the Cardinals again this evening.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Seattle's bullpen gave up 11 runs in five innings in the Mariners' 12-6 loss to Oakland, ending a five-game winning streak.  Marco Gonzales threw four innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts, but once he left the game Hector Santiago, Paul Sewald, Daniel Zamora and Will Vest allowed the A's to tack on 11 more runs.  Taylor Trammell belted a solo shot in the fourth inning, while Tom Murphy smoked a two-run bomb in the eighth for the Mariners.  The series continues tonight.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Clippers are at home for a pivotal Game Five tonight.  LA will host the Dallas Mavericks.  It's been an up and down series for the Clippers.  They lost the first two games of the series at home, but took the next two on the road.  

(San Francisco, CA)  --  The Angels scored five times in the fourth inning as they crushed the Giants 8-1 in San Francisco.  Anthony Rendon drove in five runs for Los Angeles.  Andrew Heaney gave up just one run over six and a third innings.  The Angels host the Mariners tomorrow.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers are in Denver to battle the Nuggets in a pivotal Game Five matchup tonight.  The Blazers bounced back with a 115-95 victory in Game Four on Saturday to even the series at two games apiece.

(Undated)  --  The Ducks and Beavers know their regional foes in the NCAA Tournament after the regional groups were announced today.  Oregon hosts a regional and will face LSU, Gonzaga and Central Connecticut State.  Oregon State will play in the Fort Worth regional and will take on TCU, Dallas Baptist and McNeese State.  Both squads play their first game of regionals on Friday.

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The Lakers could be without a major piece for Game Five of their series against the Suns in Phoenix tonight.  According to ESPN, Anthony Davis is questionable for Game Five after an MRI confirmed a groin strain.  Davis was already battling a sprained left knee before the groin issue ultimately took him out of the game after 19 minutes of action in Game Four.  The series between Los Angeles and Phoenix is tied a two games apiece.

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The Lakers are set for a pivotal Game Five in Phoenix against the Suns tonight.  The series is split at two games apiece.  The winner will be one win away from advancing to the second round.  Los Angeles lost Game Four 100-92 at home this past Sunday.
