Oregon Coaching Staff Coming Together

(Eugene, OR) -- New Oregon coach Dan Lanning's staff is coming together, according to multiple reports. The Ducks are expected to hire Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Adrian Klemm to the same position. Klemm has spent the last three years in Pittsburgh following nine seasons coaching in college football at UCLA and SMU. They're also bringing in Colorado's Demetrice Martin as the defensive backs coach. Martin has been the Buffaloes' cornerbacks coach for the last two years and spent time before that at Arizona, UCLA and Washington. Reports said Tuesday that the Ducks plan to hire Nebraska defensive line coach Tony Tuioti to the same role.

Blazers-Nets Postponed

(Portland, OR) -- The Trail Blazers' game against the Nets tonight has been postponed because Brooklyn does not have enough available players. The Nets had an NBA-high ten players in the health and safety protocols as of Tuesday, including their "Big Three" of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. The Blazers have lost eight of their last ten games after dropping Tuesday's road game against the Pelicans, 111-97. They're now off until Monday, when they host the Mavericks.

Clippers Roll Past Kings

(Sacramento, CA) -- The Clippers put the clamps on the Kings. Los Angeles rolled to a 105-89 win over the Kings in Sacramento. Eric Bledsoe led the Clippers with 19 points. Paul George and Serge Ibaka each had 17 points for Los Angeles, which snapped a three-game skid. The Clippers improved to 17-and-15. Tyrese Haliburton led the Kings with 22 points. Sacramento has lost three of four to fall to 13-and-20.

Titans Host 49ers On Thursday Night Football

(Nashville, TN) -- The 49ers head to Tennessee to kick off Week 16. The Titans host San Francisco on Thursday Night Football in an important battle for playoff positioning. Tennessee leads the AFC South at 9-and-5, but has lost three of its past four games. At 8-and-6, the 49ers enter Thursday's matchup as the sixth seed in the NFC. San Francisco is playing great football down the stretch, having won five of its last six games.

CFP Champion Can Be Crowned Via COVID Forfeit

(Indianapolis, IN) -- A new policy is being implemented in college football as a response to the surge in omicron cases across the country. The College Football Playoff management committee says that a team can advance, or win, the national championship by an opponent forfeiting. Changes made during a video conference also state that the January 10th championship game can be potentially pushed back as late as the 14th. If one team can play but the other can't due to COVID, they would have to forfeit if the game can't be rescheduled. If both teams are unable to, a "no contest" will be declared and the championship will instead be vacated. The four teams battling for the title this season are Alabama, Michigan, Georgia and Cincinnati.

Blazers Fall On The Road To Pelicans

(New Orleans, LA) -- The Trail Blazers took an L in the Big Easy. Portland lost 111-97 to the Pelicans in New Orleans. Damian Lillard balled out with 39 points and Jusuf Nurkic chipped in with 17 points. The Blazers host the Nets tomorrow night.

Suns Roll Past Lakers

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Suns are cruising to another win. Phoenix defeated the Lakers 108-90 in Los Angeles. Devin Booker led the Suns with 24 points. Deandre Ayton added 19 points and 11 rebounds for Phoenix, which is 25-and-5. LeBron James led the Lakers with 34 points and shot an efficient 13-of-19 from the floor. Russell Westbrook offered up 22 points and 10 rebounds in the setback for Los Angeles, which drops to 16-and-16.

49ers Meet Titans On Thursday Night Football

(Santa Clara, CA) -- It is a quick turnaround for the 49ers as they head to Tennessee for Thursday Night Football. San Francisco comes off of a 31-13 win over the Falcons on Sunday. The Niners are flying to Nashville after just a couple of days to get ready for the Titans. Both teams are lined-up for a playoff spot with three games remaining on the schedule. The 49ers are 8-and-6, while the Titans are leading the AFC South at 9-and-5.

Rams Grind Out Win Over Seahawks

(Inglewood, CA) -- The Seahawks offense was shut down yet again and it led to another loss. Seattle lost to the Rams 20-10 in Los Angeles. Seattle's offense struggled all game and Russell Wilson played a big role in that as he completed 17-of-31 passes for 156 yards and a pick. While the Seahawks fell to 5-and-9, Carlos Dunlap played a fantastic game with three sacks. Matt Stafford threw for 244 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the winning effort. His main target was former Eastern Washington star Cooper Kupp who caught nine passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

Blazers Play In New Orleans Tonight

(New Orleans, LA) -- The Trail Blazers stay on the road to play one of the worst teams in the NBA. Portland plays the Pelicans in New Orleans tonight. The Blazers have won their last two games entering tonight's game to get to 13-and-18. The Pelicans are 10-and-21.

Rams Face Seahawks Tonight

(Inglewood, CA) -- The Rams are taking on a division foe tonight. Los Angeles is slated to face the Seahawks in a rare Tuesday matchup after the NFL stepped in and moved the game after both teams were hit hard with COVID. The Rams are looking for a third straight win and a chance to tie with Arizona for the lead for the NFC West. At 9-and-4, Los Angeles is also in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC. Seattle has won two straight and enters at 5-and-8.

Warriors Take Down Kings

(San Francisco, CA) -- The Warriors are taking care of business at home. Stephen Curry scored 30 points as Golden State blasted the Kings 113-98 in San Francisco. Damion Lee added 18 for the Warriors, who improve to 25-and-6. Draymond Green finished with 16 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds for the triple-double. Tyrese Haliburton led the Kings with 24 points. Sacramento has lost two of three to drop to 13-and-19.

Former Minor League Teams Suing MLB

(New York, NY) -- Major League Baseball is facing a lawsuit from four former minor league affiliates, and two of the teams are from the Northwest. The antitrust lawsuit was filed in the US District Court in Manhattan on Monday by the Staten Island Yankees, Tri-City Valley Cats, Norwich Sea Unicorns, and Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. It alleges that the commissioner's office violated the Sherman Antitrust Act when it cut the number of minor league affiliates from 160 to 120 at the end of the 2020 season. The MLB has not commented on the lawsuit.

Baylor, Duke Hold As Top Two In Coaches Poll

(Undated) -- Undefeated Baylor holds on to the top spot in the men's college basketball top-25 Coaches Poll this week, while Duke remains number two. Purdue moves up one spot to number three, with two-loss Gonzaga and unbeaten Arizona in a tie at number four. UCLA dropped three spots to number six despite not playing due to COVID-19 issues. Kansas, Iowa State, USC and Michigan State round out the top ten.

Report: NHL To Shutdown All Games Through Christmas Day

(Undated) -- The NHL is pausing its season through Christmas Day in response to the COVID-19 outbreaks throughout the league. Sportsnet reports that all games and practices will be shut down until December 26th when players will return to team facilities to get tested. The league had already been dealing with a flurry of postponed games and the only NHL game that went on as scheduled Monday was Minnesota against Dallas. The Kraken have not avoided the virus, as defenseman Adam Larsson entered COVID-19 protocol yesterday after fellow defensemen Carson Soucy and Jamie Oleksiak entered the protocol over the weekend.

Former Auburn QB Nix To Transfer To Oregon

(Eugene, OR) -- Bo Nix is trading in the SEC for the Pac-12. The former Auburn quarterback announced that he will be transferring to the University of Oregon. Nix finished this past season with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions before an ankle injury ended his season. Nix will have two years of eligibility as a grad transfer.

Gonzaga is set to host Northern Arizona tonight.

Beavers Fall To Utah State In Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl

(Inglewood, CA) -- The Beavers season came to an end with a bowl game loss. Oregon State lost to Utah State 24-13 in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl. Beavers quarterback Chance Nolan threw for 263 yards and an interception in the loss. Oregon State finishes the season 7-and-6.

Lillard Leads Blazers Past Grizzlies

(Memphis, TN) -- The Trail Blazers capped off a successful weekend with a win in Memphis. Damian Lillard scored 32 points as Portland took down the Grizzlies 105-100. Norman Powell stepped up in the winning effort with 28 points. The Blazers beat the Hornets on Friday night as well. Portland plays the Pelicans in New Orleans tomorrow night.

DeRozan, Bulls Take Down Lakers

(Chicago, IL) -- DeMar DeRozan poured in 38 points as the Bulls took down the Lakers 115-110 in Chicago. DeRozan shot 16-of-17 from the free throw line and scored 19 of his 38 in the fourth quarter. Los Angeles was unable to overcome 19 turnovers as it dropped to 16-and-15. LeBron James led the way with 31 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Carmelo Anthony added 21 points off the bench for the Lakers, who have lost two straight.

Rams Set To Host Seahawks On Tuesday

(Inglewood, CA) -- The Rams-Seahawks game has been moved back to Tuesday night. The game was rescheduled because of the Rams' COVID-19 issues from last week. Los Angeles had to enact enhanced mitigation protocols and the team's practice facility was closed during the week. As of Thursday, 25 Rams players were on the list, but a handful have been activated since then. Seattle had placed Tyler Lockett and Alex Collins on the COVID list Thursday, but six more players were added Sunday, notably starting corner D.J. Reed and right tackle Brandon Shell. The playoffs are a slim possibility for the 5-and-8 Seahawks, but their offense has scored at least 30 points in the last two games.

In boy's prep basketball tonight at 630, Summit welcomes South Eugene, and Bend greets Grants Pass.

Elsewhere, both Redmond and Crook County are in Coos Bay for the weekend 'South Coast Les Schwab Tournament' as well as Madras. La Pine travels to Toledo high school outside of Newport to play Central tonight at 5 in the 'Boomer Bash' tourney. In single-A action, Gilchrist hosts North Lake, and Country Christian is on the road at Willamette Christian in Eugene.

On the girl's scoreboard last night,  Bend lost at Grants Pass, 48-27. Redmond girls scored a 45-24 win over Marshfield, the host of the 'Southcoast Les Schwab' tourney, while Crook County ran past tourney co-host North Bend, 56-38.

 

And, trinity Lutheran was a 38-26 winner over rogue valley Adventist of Medford.

 

Tonight, the summit girls are at south Eugene. Redmond and crook county continue 2nd round tourney play in coos bay. Madras visits banks. La pine plays Eddyville charter in Toledo.

Oregon Hires FSU Offensive Coordinator Kenny Dillingham

(Eugene, OR) -- Dan Lanning has added a new name to his staff. Oregon hired Florida State offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham to be the Ducks OC. The 31-year-old Dillingham worked with Lanning in the past when they were both at Memphis.

Blazers Fall To Grizzlies At Home

(Portland, OR) -- The Trail Blazers faltered in the fourth quarter in their loss to Memphis. The Blazers were outscored 33-to-21 in the fourth quarter in their 113-103 loss to the Grizzlies in Portland. Norman Powell led the Blazers with 25 points, Damian Lillard scored 21 and Anfernee Simons had 22 points off the bench. Portland hosts the Charlotte Hornets tomorrow night.

McCollum Out With Collapsed Lung

(Portland, OR) -- The Portland Trail Blazers say guard C.J. McCollum will be out for at least another week as he recovers from a collapsed lung. McCollum is undergoing light conditioning and will be reevaluated in a week. He won't travel with the team on their upcoming road trip to Memphis and New Orleans. McCollum was injured when the Blazers were playing the Boston Celtics on December 4th.

Chiefs Battle Chargers For First In Division

(Inglewood, CA) -- The Chiefs are visiting a division rival in Week 15 when they visit the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football. Kansas City enters the game leading the AFC West at 9-and-4 and will be looking to extend its winning streak to seven games. Los Angeles is in second-place at 8-and-5 and is hoping to push its winning streak to three games.

Urban Meyer Out As Jaguars Head Coach

(Jacksonville, FL) -- The Urban Meyer experiment in Jacksonville is over. The team announced that Meyer is out as the Jaguars head coach. The NFL Network reports that Jacksonville offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will serve as the interim head coach for the final four games of the season. Meyer leaves the NFL with a record of 2-and-11. Jacksonville team owner Shad Khan said that "an immediate change is imperative for everyone".

Bucks' Antetokounmpo Enters Health And Safety Protocols

(Milwaukee, WI) -- The Bucks won't have their superstar at home against the Pacers Wednesday. According to reports, Milwaukee superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has entered the league's health and safety protocols. To return from protocols, Antetokounmpo either has to sit out 10 days or return two negative PCR tests 24 hours apart.

Oregon State Officially Promotes Bray To Defensive Coordinator

(Corvallis, OR) -- The Beavers' interim defensive coordinator is no longer an interim. Oregon State promoted Trent Bray to defensive coordinator. Bray served as the Beavers' interim defensive coordinator for the last three regular season games.

Lakers Cancel Practice, Horton-Tucker To COVID-19 Protocols

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Lakers are dealing with some COVID-19 issues. The team canceled practice Tuesday after a player tested positive for coronavirus. That player was 21-year-old guard Talen Horton-Tucker and he was placed into the NBA's health and safety protocols. At a minimum, T-H-T will miss tonight's game against the Mavericks and could be sidelined for multiple games. The Lakers look for a third straight win as they take on Dallas.

Steph Curry Breaks NBA's All-Time Made 3-Pointers Record

(New York, NY) -- Steph Curry is staking his claim as the NBA's best all-time shooter. The Warriors guard broke Ray Allen's all-time made three-pointers record on Tuesday night against the Knicks. In the first quarter, Curry tied then broke Allen's record which stood at two-thousand, 973 made threes. He now sits at 2,977 after making five shots from deep in the Warriors win over the Knicks.

UO Officially Welcomes Dan Lanning

(Eugene, OR) -- The University of Oregon officially welcomed new head football coach Dan Lanning. He says this is a destination job and he doesn't plan to leave if another program comes calling. He says the resources, support from the administration, and the fan base are what drew him to Eugene. Lanning will still serve as Georgia's defensive coordinator in the College Football Playoff.

Report: Vegas Will Host Super Bowl 58

(Henderson, NV) -- The Super Bowl is reportedly heading to Sin City. The NFL is expected to announce on Wednesday that Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host Super Bowl 58 in 2024. Final approval for a Vegas Super Bowl would be made during Wednesday's owners meeting. Both the Raiders and the NFL have declined comment. Las Vegas is also scheduled to host this season's Pro Bowl and the 2022 NFL Draft.

Rams Clip Cardinals On MNF

(Glendale, AZ) -- The Rams are clipping the Cardinals from the top spot in the NFC. Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes as the Rams beat the Cards 30-23 on Monday Night Football in the desert. Cooper Kupp racked up 13 catches for 123 yards and a TD for the Rams, who moved to 9-and-4 on the season. L.A. now sits just one game behind Arizona for the NFC West lead. The Cards fell from first to third in the NFC at 10-and-3 due to tiebreakers with Green Bay and Tampa Bay. Kyler Murray threw for 383 yards and two interceptions for the Cards, while James Conner ran in for two scores in the setback.

Oregon Hires Dan Lanning As Head Football Coach

(Eugene, OR) -- The Ducks search for their new football coach has come to an end. Oregon hired Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning as its next head football coach. The 35-year-old Lanning visited Eugene over the weekend, but will still serve as defensive coordinator for Georgia in the College Football Playoff. The Athletic also reported that Lanning is targeting Florida State offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham to be the Ducks OC.

(Portland, OR) -- The Blazers couldn't pick up a home win last night. Portland lost to the Timberwolves 116-111 in the Moda Center. Anfernee Simons led all scorers with 26 points off the bench for the Blazers and Damian Lillard chipped in with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Portland hosts the Phoenix Suns tomorrow night.

Timbers Lose In MLS Cup

(Portland, OR) -- The Timbers' season did not end under celebratory confetti. Portland lost to NYCFC 4-2 in penalty kicks after the two teams played a 1-1 draw through regulation and overtime on Saturday. Felipe Mora scored for Portland in extra time.

Lakers Storm Past Magic In Third Quarter

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Lakers outscored the Magic 36-10 in the third quarter on their way to a 106-94 win in Los Angeles. LeBron James led the way with a triple-double, going for 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Russell Westbrook and Talen Horton-Tucker both tallied 19 points for the Lakers, who have won five of their last seven. The Lakers begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday in Dallas.

Seahawks Pull Away From Texans

(Houston, TX) -- The Texans kept it close early but the Seahawks pulled away in the second half. The Seahawks scored 17 unanswered points in the second half to beat the Texans 33-13 in Houston. Russell Wilson threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns, and connected with Tyler Lockett five times for 142 yards and a score. Rashaad Penny rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns for Seattle, which improved to 5-and-8.

Report: Oregon Eyeing Chip Kelly As Next Head Coach

(Eugene, OR) -- A familiar face could be roaming the Ducks sideline next season. ESPN is reporting that Oregon is making a push to bring back Chip Kelly as the team's head football coach. Kelly is in his fourth season as head coach of the UCLA Bruins and next season is the final year of his contract with the Bruins. Kelly went 46-and-7 in his four seasons with the Ducks and led the program to the BCS National Championship Game in 2010.

(Portland, OR) -- The Timbers are heading to the MLS Cup, and they'll be playing the match on home turf. Portland hosts New York City FC tomorrow afternoon in the MLS Cup. The Timbers advanced to the MLS Cup with a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference final last weekend.

OSU Men's Basketball Deals With COVID-19 Illness

(Corvallis, OR) -- The Oregon State University men's basketball team is dealing with COVID-19 illnesses. OSU reports the game against Sacramento State that was scheduled for December 11th, is being rescheduled due to COVID-19 testing and contact tracing protocols. The game will now be played on December 28th at 2:30 p.m.

Short-handed Grizzlies Beat Lakers

(Memphis, TN) -- Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 25 points as the Grizzlies beat the Lakers 108-95 in Memphis. Jackson help Memphis overcome five players being out, with Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks headlining those sidelined. LeBron James reached a career milestone with his 100th triple double in the losing effort. Anthony Davis supplied 22 points and eight rebounds for Los Angeles, which dropped to 13-and-13. The Grizzlies improved to 15-and-11.

(San Francisco, CA) -- The Blazers weren't able to pick up a win in the Bay Area. Portland lost to the Warriors 104-94 in San Francisco. Norman Powell led the Blazers with 26 points, followed by Nassir Little with 18 points. Jusuf Nurkic chipped in with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The Blazers were without CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard as both were out with injuries. Portland hosts the Timberwolves on Sunday.

Boston scored a team-high 27 points off the bench and shot a resounding 9-for-13 from the field. He was helped by Marcus Morris Sr. who added 20 points and Reggie Jackson who chipped in 17 points and seven assists. Los Angeles has won two straight to improve to 14-and-12.

(Undated) -- More countries are joining the United States in a boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom said Wednesday they are all taking part in the diplomatic boycott. Activists have been calling for a boycott for months over human rights abuses by the Chinese government. Beijing was accused by the US and other nations of imprisoning more than a million Muslim-majority Uyghurs in detention centers, where they say they were tortured and abused.

He underwent a CT scan on Tuesday which found the injury, which he attained in Portland's game against the Celtics this past Saturday. The Blazers haven't announced how many games McCollum will miss, but he did not travel with the team for its game against the Warriors. The 30-year-old has averaged 20-point-six points per game in 24 starts this season.

It also stated that unvaccinated players who leave the country with a temporary VISA status won't be allowed to re-enter the United States. Teams will also have to report which players remain unvaccinated to the league office by Friday.
