Oregon Clashes With North Carolina Tomorrow In Final Four

(Glendale, AZ)  --  The Oregon Ducks clash with North Carolina tomorrow in the Final Four at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.  Oregon has won 12 of its past 13 games and earned a spot in the Final Four for the first time since 1939.  Gonzaga meets South Carolina in the other national semifinal.  The title game is Monday.

Surging Blazers Sink Rockets

(Portland, OR)  --  The surging Trail Blazers continued their postseason push with a 117-107 win over the Rockets.  Damian Lillard put up 31 points and 11 assists for the Blazers, who have reeled off five straight wins.  Portland is a game-and-a-half ahead of Denver for the final playoff spot in the West.  The Blazers wrap up their three-game homestand tomorrow against Phoenix.

Timbers Host Revolution Sunday

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers resume the MLS season on Sunday when the New England Revolution come to town.  Portland currently leads the Western Conference with nine points in the standings.  The Timbers are 3-1-and-0 on the year and are unbeaten at home.

High School Sports

Spring break ball for the Preps sees Bend in Arizona and the Lava Bears are 6-1 to start the year. Bend beat Wheat Ridge of Colorado yesterday, 11-10. Ridgeview drops two games at the Crater Tournament in southern Oregon to the host Comets, 6-2, and the Ravens shutout by West Albany, 8-zip. Elsewhere, Sisters swept Santiam Christian, 12-7 & 7-3.

Blazers Knock Off Nuggets

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers are in sole possession of the final playoff spot in the West after knocking off the Nuggets 122-113.  The Blazers now have a one-game lead on Denver for eighth in the West.  Portland's Jusuf Nurkic [[ you-SOOF  nur-KITCH ]] put up 33 points and 16 points against his former team.   The Blazers host the Rockets tomorrow.

Jordan To Open Portland-Area Steakhouse

(Portland, OR)  --  His Airness is coming to Portland.  Six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan is opening a restaurant next month inside the 510-million-dollar ilani casino.  "MJ" will feature prime, dry-aged steaks, upscale comfort food and "local seasonal favorites" as well as cocktails, craft beer and wine at the 300-seat venue.

Ducks Depart For Final Four

(Glendale, AZ)  --  The Oregon Ducks are departing for the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona.  The third-seeded Ducks meet top-seeded North Carolina on Saturday with a trip to the national championship game on the line.  Oregon defeated Iona, Rhode Island, Michigan and Kansas to earn its first trip to the semifinal in 78 years.

Seahawks Sign Former Washington LB Garvin

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks continue to shore up their linebacker corps with the signing of former Washington linebacker Terence Garvin.  Garvin played in DC last season after three years with Pittsburgh, and has 52 career tackles to his credit.  Seattle has also re-signed exclusive-rights free-agent linebacker Dewey McDonald, who the Seahawks acquired in a trade last September.

OSU Baseball Sweeps Awards Again

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Oregon State baseball is sweeping the weekly conference awards again.  Bryce Fehmel and KJ Harrison are the Pac-12 pitcher and player of the week, respectively.  Fehmel threw eight three-hit innings and struck out six, while Harrison was 5-for-12 with three runs batted in.

Blazers Host Nuggets

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers battle for the eighth-and-final playoff spot with the Denver Nuggets at the Moda Center tonight.  The Blazers have won three straight and six of their last seven games.  Portland and Denver are both 35-and-38 overall.  Tip set for seven o'clock.

#1 UConn Ends #10 Oregon's Cinderella Run

(Dallas, TX)  --  The Cinderella run for Oregon women's basketball is coming to an end.  Top-seeded Connecticut knocked off the Ducks 90-52 in the Elite Eight in Bridgeport.  Oregon finishes its season with a 23-and-14 record.

Oregon Preps For Final Four

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon men's basketball is gearing up for the Final Four.  The third-seeded Ducks meet top-seeded North Carolina in Glendale, Arizona on Saturday.  It's the program's second Final Four and first since 1939.
 

#1 OSU Meets St. Mary's

(Corvallis, OR)  --   Top-ranked Oregon State baseball is nearing its best start in program history.  If the Beavers win all four games this week the team will make history.  OSU is 20-and-1 overall, and visit St. Mary's College tonight before meeting Stanford for three games.

Seahawks QB Boykin Arrested On Possession & Intoxication Charges

(Dallas, TX)  --  Police in Dallas, Texas say Seahawks backup quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested after a car crashed into a bar and struck people on a sidewalk.  Authorities say Boykin, who was a passenger in the vehicle during yesterday morning's crash, was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession and public intoxication.  Seven people were taken to hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  The "Seattle Times" reports Boykin is currently free on bail.

College Basketball

It’s history in the making, and never before in our lifetime have we seen both the Men’s and Women’s basketball teams of an Oregon University play for a Regional Championship.

But, that’s just what the Ducks have done. The Oregon men will play North Carolina Saturday in the NCAA Final-4. Meantime, today, the Oregon women’s team plays U-Conn for the East Regional Championship.

The Ducks men’s team dominated top-rated Kansas beating the Jayhawks in their backyard Saturday in Kansas City, 74-60, to win the Midwest Regional Title and punch their ticket to the Final-4.

It’s only the second time in school history Oregon made the Final-4. The first came in 1939 when Oregon won it all. Oregon, 33-5, meets 31-and-7 North Carolina here on KBND Saturday at 5:49 pm in the second national semifinal game.

The winner gets the winner of Gonzaga and South Carolina which tips off at 3:09 pm Saturday. The Final-4 is in Glendale, Arizona, and the Championship game is one week from tonight.

The other part of the history books being written in Eugene, is the Lady Ducks who dominated 3rd seed Maryland Saturday morning beating the Terps, 77-63 to reach the East Regional Final in Bridgeport.

Oregon faces 11-time Champion U-Conn today at 406pm televised on ESPN. U-Conn has won 110-straight and is aiming for its 5th straight Title.

Oregon State’s women’s team bowed out of the big dance losing to Florida State, 66-53. UCLA also got knocked out, but Stanford beat Notre Dame, 76-75 to reach the Final-4 Sunday.


 

Oregon Advances To Final Four

(Kansas City, MO)  --  Oregon is heading to the school's second Final Four and first since 1939.  The third-seeded Ducks bounced top-seeded Kansas, 74-60, on Saturday in the Elite Eight from Kansas City.  Tyler Dorsey continued his torrid stretch with six threes and 27 points.  Jordan Bell poured in 11 with 13 rebounds, eight blocks and four assists.  Oregon draws top-seeded North Carolina on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.

Gonzaga Faces South Carolina In Final Four

(Undated)  --  The other side of the bracket sees two first time Final Four appearances.  Top-seeded Gonzaga is going to square off with seventh-seeded South Carolina.  The Zags advanced by crushing Xavier and the Gamecocks squeaked past Florida.  The winner will move on to face either Oregon or North Carolina in the championship game a week from today.

Lady Ducks Draw UConn In Elite Eight

(Bridgeport, CT)  --  Tenth-seeded Oregon faces a monumental challenge in this evening's Elite Eight matchup of the NCAA Women's Tournament.  The Ducks draw top-seeded, 35-and-0 UConn in Bridgeport for the right to go to the Final Four.  The Huskies have won a record 110 straight games.  Oregon advanced by beating third-seeded Maryland, 77-63, in the Sweet 16 on Saturday.

Blazers Handle Lakers

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Trail Blazers used a 37-point third quarter to pull away from the Lakers for a 97-81 win at the STAPLES Center.  Damian Lillard led the charge out of halftime scoring 14 of his 22 points.  Portland improved to 35-and-38 with its third straight win.  They're tied with the Nuggets for the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoff picture.  The two teams play tomorrow at the Moda Center.

Timbers Fall To Crew On Saturday

(Columbus, OH)  --  The Timbers took a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Crew in Columbus on Saturday.  It was Portland's first loss of the season after starting with three consecutive wins.  They host the Revs on Sunday.

College Basketball

For the second year in a row, the Oregon Ducks are in the Elite-8 and will play for the Midwest Regional Championship in the NCAA Men’s college basketball tournament.

Thanks to another big time performance from sophomore guard Tyler Dorsey the Ducks set a school record 32nd win holding off Michigan last night in Kansas City, 69-68.

Dorsey scored a team-high 20 points including 5 three-point field goals, and forward Jordan Bell contributed a ‘double-double’ with 16-points and 13-rebounds.

Oregon shot a blistering 47-percent from three point land, and only committed 5 turnovers on the night.

Last year, it was Oklahoma that ended Oregon’s run in the Regional Final. Next up, the Ducks face #1 ranked and top seed Kansas in the Midwest Title game Saturday at 549pm here on KBND. Kansas blew out Purdue, 98-66.

Elsewhere…Gonzaga pulls out a 61-58 win over West Virginia and will face Xavier Saturday for the West Regional Title. Arizona knocked out by Xavier, 73-71. The Zags and Xavier tipoff at 309pm tomorrow in Santa Clara.

There are 4 other Regional Semifinal games today beginning with North Carolina playing Butler at 409pm, followed by Baylor meeting Cinderella South Carolina. At 639pm, UCLA takes on Kentucky in Memphis and the nightcap is Wisconsin meeting Florida.

Meantime…The Women’s tournament continues today and tomorrow. Oregon challenges 3rd seed Maryland tomorrow morning at 836am televised on ESPN. Later in the day at 3pm, Oregon State meets Florida State in Stockton, also seen on ESPN. And, UCLA takes on U-Conn who has won 109 straight games and is shooting for their 12th Title and 5th straight.
 

Oregon, Kansas Advance To Elite Eight

(Undated)  --  Oregon and Kansas are moving on to the Elite Eight.  Third-seeded Oregon escaped with a 69-68 win over Michigan in the first Midwest Region semifinal.  Top-seeded Kansas pounded Purdue, 98-66, in the other semi.  The Ducks and Jayhawks hook up tomorrow.

Trail Blazers Roll Knicks

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers took care of business against the Knicks, 110-95, at the Moda Center.  Damian Lillard put up 30 points and C.J. McCollum chipped in 20.  The Blazers are a game behind the Nuggets for the eighth seed in the West.  Portland hosts Minnesota tomorrow.

Oregon, Oregon State Women Play Sweet 16 Games Tomorrow

(Undated)  --  The Oregon and Oregon State women's basketball teams both play Sweet 16 games tomorrow.  The 10th-seeded Ducks take on third-seeded Maryland in the Bridgeport Region semifinals, while the second-seeded Beavers battle third-seeded Florida State in the Stockton Region semifinals.

Timbers Travel To Columbus Tomorrow

(Columbus, OH)  --  The Timbers travel to Columbus tomorrow to take on the Crew in MLS action.  Match time is 4:30 p.m. Pacific.  Portland has won its first three matches of the season against Minnesota United, the LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo.  The Crew have a win, a loss and a draw thus far.

Trail Blazers Host Knicks Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers resume their three-game homestand tonight against the Knicks.  Portland opened with a 93-90 loss to the Bucks on Tuesday.  That snapped a three-game winning streak for the Blazers, who are a game-and-a-half out of the final playoff spot in the West at 32-and-38.

Oregon Plays Michigan In Sweet 16 Today

(Kansas City, MO)  --  Oregon will take on Michigan today in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.  The third-seeded Ducks and seventh-seeded Wolverines meet at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, with tip-off set for 4:09 p.m. Pacific.  Oregon beat Iona and Rhode Island in the first two rounds to advance.

Oregon, Oregon State Women Gearing Up For Sweet 16

(Undated)  --  The Oregon and Oregon State women's teams are also prepping for play in the Sweet 16.  The 10th-seeded Ducks go up against third-seeded Maryland tomorrow in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  The second-seeded Beavers will battle third-seeded Florida State Saturday in Stockton, California.

Oregon To Hold Football Scrimmage In Portland Next Month

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon football is planning to hold a spring scrimmage next month in Portland.  Final details are still being worked out, but it's slated for Saturday, April 15th at Portland's Jesuit High School.  The Ducks are also waiting for clearance from the NCAA that there is no compliance issue.

Seahawks Sign Kicker John Lunsford

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks now have competition for Blair Walsh.  Seattle has signed kicker John Lunsford, who will fight for the starting position with Walsh.  Walsh, a former Viking, was signed in February as the Hawks anticipated the loss of Steven Hauschka, who went on to sign with Buffalo.  Lunsford, who played his college ball at Liberty, has no NFL stats because he played in only three NFL preseason games for San Francisco.

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard missed a game-tying three-point attempt in the closing moments and the Bucks came away with a 93-90 win versus the Trail Blazers.  Lillard had a game-high 31 points, but was 2-of-9 from deep.  Portland is one game behind the Nuggets for the eighth-seed in the West.  The Blazers host the Knicks tomorrow night.

OSU Baseball Sweeps Pac-12 Weekly Awards

(Corvallis, OR)  --  It's an Oregon State sweep of the Pac-12 Conference weekly baseball awards.  Beavers sophomore infielder Cadyn Grenier won Pac-12 player of the week and redshirt junior righty Jake Thompson captured Pac-12 pitcher of the week.  OSU is 17-and-1 overall and 3-and-0 in conference after sweeping Arizona State.

Portland Loses Second-Leading Scorer

(Portland, OR)  --  University of Portland is losing its second-leading scorer next season.  Sophomore guard Jazz Johnson has decided to transfer to another program.  The Pilots went 11-and-22 under first-year head coach Terry Porter.  Redshirt freshman forward Chier Maker and freshman guards Alec Monson and Andre Ferguson are also transfering.
 

Seahawks Slated To Get Visit From Linebacker Hodges

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seattle Seahawks are slated to get a visit today from free-agent linebacker Gerald Hodges.  Hodges began his career with the Vikings and played last season for San Francisco, and has started 26 contests over the past three seasons.  He earlier visited the Kansas City Chiefs.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon men's basketball team is gearing up for its Sweet 16 appearance this week.  The third-seeded Ducks meet red hot, seventh-seeded Michigan on Thursday in Kansas City, Missouri.  UO has defeated Iona and Rhode Island to advance.

#2 OSU Gearing Up For #3 Florida State

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State is also still dancing at the women's NCAA Tournament.  The second-seeded Beavers meet third-seeded Florida State in the Sweet 16 in Stockton, California on Saturday.  OSU has defeated Long Beach State and Creighton to advance this far.

Oregon Women Upset Duke, Advance To Sweet 16

(Durham, NC)  --  Oregon women's basketball is advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.  The 10th-seeded Ducks upset second-seeded Duke on its home floor in Durham, North Carolina.  Oregon moves on to face third-seeded Maryland on Friday.

Blazers Host Bucks Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers host the Milwaukee Bucks tonight in Portland.  The Blazers return home after going 4-and-1 on a five-game road trip.  Portland is 32-and-37 and riding a three-game win streak.  The team trails the Denver Nuggets by a half-game for the eighth-and-final playoff spot.  Milwaukee is 34-and-35 overall.  Tip at seven from the Moda Center.

Seahawks Sign OL Oday Aboushi

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks have another new offensive lineman on their roster.  Guard Oday Aboushi has been acquired from the Houston Texans through free agency.  Earlier this month, Seattle signed free-agent lineman Luke Joeckel.  Tight end Brandon Williams has left the Seahawks to sign with the Indianapolis Colts.

The NCAA Men’s college basketball Tournament springs forward to the ‘Sweet-16’ Thursday in 4 regional sites without the defending national Champion Villanova, and a pair of #2 seeds, both Duke and Louisville,
who  were eliminated.

Coming up Thursday, top seed Gonzaga of the West region will face 4th seed West Virginia at 430p in Santa Clara as the Zags gun for their first Final-4 showing in school history. That game will be followed by #2 seed Arizona meeting 11th seed Xavier at 7pm.

Meantime, in Kansas City Thursday, Oregon advances to the Midwest regional semifinals and greets Michigan at 4:09pm here on KBND.
 
The Ducks rallied late to beat Rhode Island in Sacramento yesterday, 75-72. Tyler Dorsey dropped a 3-ball with 38-seconds to play to secure the win sending Oregon, 31-5, to the Sweet-16 for the third time in 5-years.

#1 overall seed Kansas plays Purdue in the other Midwest regional semifinal after Oregon’s game.

UCLA advances to the South Regional semis as the Bruins beat Cincinnati, 79-67. UCLA takes on Kentucky Friday at 630pm, after North Carolina faces Butler.

USC bows out of the big dance losing to Baylor, 82-78 in the East where South Carolina closed out Duke and will meet Baylor Friday, and Wisconsin tangles with the Gators of Florida.

The Dancing Queens of Oregon State, the 3-time Pac-12 Women’s Champion, are back in the Sweet-16 after the Beavers defeated Creighton, 64-52 in Corvallis yesterday. OSU, 31-and-4, meets Florida State in Stockton Saturday. Today, Oregon meets #2 seed Duke.

Back to Men’s hoops and the N-I-T, Boise State, featuring Mt. View graduate James Reid, plays at Illinois State tonight at 6pm on ESPN.

Lillard, Blazers Run Past Heat

(Miami, FL)  --  Damian Lillard piled up 49 points as the Blazers ran past the Heat, 115-104, in Miami.  Lillard shot 9-of-12 from three-point land and nailed all 12 of his free throws.  Jusuf Nurkic added 21 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks as Portland won its third straight game.  The Blazers host the Bucks tomorrow.
 

Timbers Down Dynamo

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers were victorious over the weekend by downing the Houston Dynamo, 4-2, at Providence Park on Friday.  Diego Valeri scored twice, tying the game at two in the 58th minute before Fanendo Adi and David Guzman put Portland up for good.  The Timbers are 3-0-and-0 on the season and visit the Columbus Crew this Saturday.

Oregon Rallies To Edge Rhode Island

(Tulsa, OK)  --  Oregon is into the Sweet 16 after rallying for a 75-72 win over Rhode Island.  Tyler Dorsey drilled a go-ahead three-pointer with 38.4 seconds left and the third-seeded Ducks held on to secure a date with seventh-seeded Michigan in the Midwest Region semis on Thursday from Kansas City.  Dorsey finished with 27 points in the win as Oregon moved to 31-and-5 on the year.

Trail Blazers Visit Hawks Tomorrow

(Atlanta, GA)  --  The Blazers continue their five-game road trip tomorrow in Atlanta for a date with the Hawks.  Portland has won two-of-three so far, including a win over the Spurs the last time out on Wednesday.  The Trail Blazers enter play at 30-and-37.  The Blazers will also visit Miami before heading home.
 

Timbers Welcome Dynamo Tomorrow

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will look to remain perfect as they welcome the Houston Dynamo to town tomorrow.  Portland has won its first two matches of the season.  The Dynamo have also come away with victories in their first two matches of the year.  First kick tomorrow is set for 7:30 p.m. at Providence Park.

(Undated)  --  The Oregon State and Oregon women's basketball teams are both preparing for the NCAA Tournament.  The second-seeded Beavers battle Long Beach State today in Corvallis.  The 10th-seeded Ducks square off with seventh-seeded Temple in Durham, North Carolina on tomorrow.
 

Oregon Begins NCAA Tournament Run Today

(Sacramento, CA)  --  Oregon begins its NCAA Tournament run today in Sacramento.  The third-seeded Ducks go up against 14th-seeded Iona in the first round, with tip-off at the Golden 1 Center at 11 a.m.  Oregon is 29-and-5 after losing to Arizona in the Pac-12 title game.  The Gaels are 22-and-12.
 

Ducks Begin NCAAs Against Iona

(Sacramento, CA)  --  The third-seeded Oregon Ducks will begin their NCAA Tournament journey today in Sacramento, as they take on 14th-seed Iona in the first round.  It's the fifth straight tournament appearance for Oregon, who racked up 29 wins during the season.  Iona finished 22-and-12.  Tip-off this morning will be at eleven o'clock.
 

Gonzaga Advances To Second Round Of NCAA Tournament

(Salt Lake City, UT)  --  The Gonzaga men's basketball team is moving on to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, after defeating South Dakota State, 66-46.  The top-seeded Zags pulled away from the 16th-seed Jackrabbits in the second half after leading by four at intermission.  Jordan Matthews scored 16 points to lead Gonzaga, who will play eighth-seed Northwestern at 2:15 tomorrow afternoon.

66 teams remain in the Big Dance, the NCAA men’s college basketball tournament after last night’s ‘First Four’ tipped off. There were 2 teams knocked out and 2 more to bow out tonight.

Last night…Mount St. Mary’s edged New Orleans, 67-66 and Kansas State bumped out Wake Forest, 95-88.

Today, U-C Davis hosts North Carolina Central, and USC plays at Providence. The winners advance to the Big Dance Friday.
The Tournament tips off tomorrow at 915am with the first of 16 games featuring Notre Dame and Princeton.

The men’s NIT…National Invitational Tournament tipped off last night and it didn’t go well for two Pac-12 teams. Utah is eliminated on their home court in Salt Lake City as Boise State beat the Utes, 73-68. Boise State, 20-11, advances to the 2nd round to face Illinois who beat Val-Po, 82-57.

Elsewhere, Cal struggled with Cal State Bakersfield and the Bears are bounced out 73-66. Tonight…Colorado plays at Central Florida and BYU hosts Texas-Arlington.

From the CBI Tournament…the College Basketball Invitational, Wyoming hosts Eastern Washington and Rice entertains San Francisco.

Union, Kentucky claims the NAIA Division-2 National Title last night in Missouri defeating Cornerstone, Michigan, 72-69. The small college women’s Title captured again by Marian, Indiana.

Former Blazers Star Robinson Hospitalized By Brain Hemorrhage

(Portland, OR)  --  Former Trail Blazers star Cliff Robinson is hospitalized after suffering a minor brain hemorrhage.  The 50-year-old says "will be in rehabilitation for a while."  Robinson's family revealed last week that he was being treated at Portland hospital, but did not disclose why.  The All-Star played 18 NBA seasons for the Blazers, Suns, Pistons, Warriors and Nets.

Blazers Pummeled By Pelicans

(New Orleans, LA)  --  The Blazers shot an ugly 30.3-percent and were blown out 100-77 by the Pelicans in New Orleans.  Damian Lillard scored a game-high 29 points for Portland, which has lost two-of-three to slip to 29-and-37, two-and-a-half games out of a playoff spot in the West.  The Blazers play in San Antonio tonight.

Ducks' Sprinter Cunliffe Earns Top Honor

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon Ducks sprinter Hannah Cunliffe is the Women's Indoor National Track Athlete of the Year.  Cunliffe won the national title in the 60 meters for her first-career national title, and then finished second in the 200 meters.  Head coach Robert Johnson earned the women's national coach the year honor and assistant Curtis Taylor was named the women's national assistant coach of the year.

Seahawks Sign RB Lacy

(Renton, WA)  --  Former Pro Bowl running back Eddie Lacy is now a Seahawk, after signing a one-year contract worth five-and-a-half million dollars.  Lacy was a solid performer for the Green Bay Packers before an ankle injury ended his season nearly five months ago.  He underwent surgery that included having screws and wires inserted in the ankle.  Before the injury, Lacy averaged more than five yards per carry through five games.

OSU, Oregon Women Prep For NCAA Tournament

(Undated)  --  The Oregon State and Oregon women's basketball teams are gearing up for the NCAA Tournament.  The second-seeded Beavers meet 15th-seeded Long Beach State Friday afternoon in Corvallis.  Meanwhile, the 10th-seeded Ducks take on seventh-seeded Temple in Durham, North Carolina on Saturday.

Two Ducks Volleyball Coaches Out

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon women's volleyball is losing a pair of coached.  The "Oregon Daily Emerald" reports coach Jim Moore and assistant Stacy Metro are apparently leaving their posts after 12 seasons.  The husband-and-wife coaching team were fired for cause last week.  Moore is UO's winningest coach in program history.

Trail Blazers Take Down Suns

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  Damian Lillard scored 39 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Suns 110-101 in Phoenix.  C.J. McCollum contributed 26 points.  Portland won for the fifth time in six games.  The Trail Blazers' next game is tomorrow in New Orleans.

Timbers Pick Up Rare Road Victory

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Diego Chara scored the only goal as the Timbers topped the Galaxy 1-0 in Los Angeles in MLS play.  Portland did not win a road game last year   The Timbers have opened the MLS season 2-and-0 for the first time in their history.
 

Ducks Will Be Without Boucher

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon forward Chris Boucher tore his ACL in the Pac 12-tournament semifinals Friday and will miss the NCAA tourney.  Boucher averaged 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.5 block shots per game.  Karvell Bigby-Williams will likely gain more playing time with Boucher out.

Oregon Will Face Iona In Opening Round

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon will face Iona Friday in the opening round of the NCAA tournament in Sacramento.  The Ducks drew a third-seed in the Midwest Region.  They will take a 29-and-5 record into the tournament after losing the Pac-12 tournament championship game to Arizona Saturday.  The Gaels won the MAAC tourney to receive an automatic bid.  Iona has a 22-and-12 record.

Ranked Oregon State Extends Winning Streak

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State swept a four-game series from Ball State in Corvallis.  Trevor Larnach went 3-for-3 and drove in a run in the Beavers' 8-4 victory Saturday over the Cardinals.  The fifth-ranked Ducks have won nine straight.  They are 14-and-1 overall.  The Beavers will play Thursday at Arizona State to begin Pac-12 Conference play.
 

High School Basketball Championships

The Bend Lady Lava Bears basketball team will play for the 3rd Place Championship trophy after missing the Title game falling to La Salle in the 5A Girls State Tournament Semifinal last night at Oregon State.  Bend lost to the Falcons, 56-44, and will play #2 seed Corvallis today at 130pm.

LaSalle meets Silverton for the 5A Girls Title, and Churchill faces defending Champion Wilsonville for all the marbles in the Boys 5A Final.  

Meantime, the Summit boys bounced back after their tournament opening loss Tuesday to beat South Albany, 68-47 and will take on Pendleton for the Consolation, 4th Place trophy this morning at 1045am.

On to College basketball, in Las Vegas, the Pac-12 sets the stage tonight for its Tournament Semifinals at T-Mobile Arena. 5th ranked Oregon will face Cal at 6pm, followed by UCLA meeting Arizona at 830pm. Trail Blazers Outlast Sixers In OT

(Portland, OR)  --  Jusuf Nurkic notched 28 points, 20 rebounds and eight assists as the Trail Blazers outlasted the Sixers 114-108 in overtime at the Moda Center.  Portland has won four straight and is ninth in the West at 28-and-35, a half-game out of a playoff spot.  The Blazers host Washington tomorrow.

Former Blazers Star Cliff Robinson Hospitalized

(Portland, OR)  --  Former Trail Blazers star Cliff Robinson is in the hospital being treated for an undisclosed illness.  His family issued a statement saying he is at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.  The now 50-year-old Robinson was drafted by Portland with the 36th overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft.

Portland State Ousted In Big Sky Quarters

(Reno, NV)  --  Portland State's run in the Big Sky Tournament is over.  The Vikings were blown out 95-72 by North Dakota in the quarterfinals in Reno, Nevada.  Bryce Canda had 12 points to pace PSU, which made just 3-of-21 shots from behind the arc in defeat.  The Vikings fell to 15-and-16 with the loss.

Oregon Whips ASU In Pac-12 Quarters

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  Fifth-ranked Oregon used a big second half to rough up Arizona State 80-57 in the Pac-12 quarterfinals in Las Vegas.  Dillon Brooks had 22 points and Tyler Dorsey added 21 for the Ducks, who outscored ASU by 20 after intermission.  Oregon will clash with Cal in the semifinals tonight.

Timbers Go Up Against Galaxy Sunday

(Carson, CA)  --  The Timbers hit the road for the first time this Sunday.  They head to Carson, California to take on the LA Galaxy.  Match time is 4 p.m.  Portland pounced all over the expansion Minnesota United 5-1 at home in last weekend's season opener.  The Galaxy lost their first match 2-1 to FC Dallas.

Hauschka Agrees To Deal With Buffalo

(Renton, WA)  --  Unrestricted free agent Steven Hauschka is now an ex-Seahawk.  The kicker has signed a four-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.  Hauschka was considered expendable after Seattle signed Blair Walsh out of Minnesota.  The "Seattle Times" reports the Seahawks are expected to sign another kicker to compete with Walsh.

We tip it off this morning with Prep State basketball Tournament action where the Bend Lady Lava Bears are in the OSAA class-5A Final-4 at Oregon State tonight at 630pm.

Bend defeated, and got revenge with Marist as the Bears beat the Spartans, 46-36. The Lava Bears face top-seed La Salle in the Semifinals. Bend was led by IMC ‘Co-Player of the Year,’ Sophia Jackson’s 16 points as Bend shot 50% for the game.

Former Blazers Star Robinson Hospitalized

(Portland, OR)  --  Former Portland Trail Blazer Cliff Robinson is being hospitalized for an undisclosed illness.  His family is asking for privacy as he receives treatment at Portland hospital.  Robinson was a second-round draft pick in 1989 and spent eight seasons with the Blazers during his 18-year NBA career.  He averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game for Portland.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers begin a brief two-game homestand tonight against the Clippers at the Moda Center.  They also entertain the Wizards on Saturday.  Portland has won three straight to improve to 27-and-35.  That puts them ninth in the West, one game out of the final playoff spot.
 

Oregon State Cut Down By Cal In Pac-12 First Round

(Paradise, NV)  --  It's one and done for Oregon State in the Pac-12 Tournament in Sin City.  The Beavers lost 67-62 to Cal in the first round at T-Mobile Arena.  Stephen Thompson Jr. scored 25 points to lead Oregon State, which dropped its fourth straight game.  The Beavers finish the season 5-and-27.

Timbers At LA Galaxy Sunday

(Carson, CA)  --  The Timbers play their first road game of the season this weekend.  They travel to Carson, California to clash with the LA Galaxy at 4 p.m. on Sunday.  Portland pummeled the expansion Minnesota United 5-1 in the home opener last week.  The Galaxy lost their opener 2-1 to FC Dallas.
 

Report: Seahawks Not Interested In Peterson

(Renton, WA)  --  After Vikings running back Adrian Peterson reportedly expressed interest in joining Seattle during the free-agent period, the Seakawks are reportedly not interested in Peterson's services, at least at this time.  Peterson officially becomes a free agent today, after Minnesota recently announced they won't exercise the 18-million-dollar contract option on the veteran running back.  "USA Today's" Tom Pelissero reported yesterday that there's "no immediate interest" from Seattle in Peterson.  At least two reports earlier this week stated Peterson was interested in playing for the Seahawks.

Portland State Plays North Dakota In Big Sky Quarters Today

(Reno, NV)  --  Portland State plays a quarterfinal game in the Big Sky Tournament today in Reno, Nevada.  The Vikings advanced out of the first round with an 80-67 win over Northern Arizona on Tuesday.  Deontae North scored 25 points in the win.  PSU is 15-and-15.  The Fighting Hawks are 19-and-9.

Oregon State Meets Cal At Pac-12 Tournament

Portland State Advances At Big Sky Tournament

(Reno, NV)  --  Deontae North led all scorers with 25 points off the bench as Portland State beat Northern Arizona 80-67 to advance in the Big Sky Tournament.  The win sets the Vikings on a date with top-seeded North Dakota tomorrow night in Reno.  PSU and UND split their two meetings this season.

Westbrook's Career Night Not Enough For Thunder

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  A career-high 58 points from Russell Westbrook wasn't enough for the Thunder in a 126-121 loss to the Trail Blazers.  Allen Crabbe led a balanced Portland attack with 23 points off the bench.  Damian Lillard netted 22 and C.J. McCollum added 21 in Portland's third straight win.  The Blazers return home to host the 76ers tomorrow night.

Reports Link Adrian Peterson With Seahawks

(Renton, WA)  --  Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson is reportedly interested in playing for Seattle.  Peterson's father, Nelson, tells the "St. Paul Pioneer Press" that the Seahawks are looking for a power back now that Marshawn Lynch is retired, and Seattle is "definitely in the running" for the Vikings ball carrier.  The NFL Network's Stacey Dales cites a source as saying Peterson is interested in playing for the Seahawks or the Raiders.

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The top-seeded Oregon Ducks can relax during today's first round of the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas.  Oregon has a bye and faces the winner between Arizona State and Stanford.  The Ducks went 3-and-0 against the two schools combined this season.

Video Emerges Of Timbers' Arrests

(Portland, OR)  --  A newly released dash camera video shows the drunken driving arrests of two Portland Timbers players.  Timbers goalkeeper Jake Gleeson rear-ended another driver last October in Lake Oswego.  Gleeson has pleaded no contest in November to that charge and reckless driving.  The other player arrested was team captain Liam Ridgewell.
 

Ducks' Brooks Named Pac-12 Player Of The Year

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Oregon's Dillon Brooks is the Pac-12 Player of the Year.  Brooks averaged nearly 18 points per game while leading the Ducks to a tie for the conference regular season title.  He is the fifth Oregon player to earn the honor.

Blazers-Timberwolves Game Postponed

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  Monday's matchup between the Trail Blazers and Timberwolves at the Target Center was postponed last night.  The court wasn't in condition to be played on due to unusually high temperatures melting the ice underneath the hardwood.  The make-up date will be announced in the near future. The Blazers visit the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.

Ducks Earn Conference Honors

(San Fransisco, CA)  --  Ducks' Dillon Brooks and Jordan Bell are earning Pac-12 conference honors.  Bell was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year, and was named All-Pac-12 Second Team, as well as the All-Freshman Squad.  Brooks was named the Player of the Year and All-Pac-12 First Team.

Gonzaga Holds Off Santa Clara, 77-68

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Gonzaga Bulldogs will advance to the West Coast Conference championship game after holding off Santa Clara, 77-68.  Nigel Williams-Goss had 25 points and eight rebounds in last night's game for the Zags, and Przemek Karnowski added 19 points and seven rebounds.  Gonzaga will play Saint Mary's tonight in the WCC final.

Ducks Earn Top Seed In Pac-12 Tournament

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  Oregon has earned the top overall seed in the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament, which tips off on Wednesday in Las Vegas.  The Ducks have a first-round bye after going 27-and-4 overall and 16-and-2 in Pac-12 action.  They rolled the Beavers, 80-59, on Saturday.  OSU is just 5-and-26 on the year and is the 12th seed.  The Beavers face Cal on Wednesday.

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  The Blazers seek their third straight win as they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.  Portland is 26-and-35 after consecutive wins over the Thunder and Nets.  Minnesota is 25-and-37 on the year.  Tip-off is at 5 p.m.

Carroll: Thomas And Lockett To Be Ready For Start Of 2017 Season

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll expects both free safety Earl Thomas and wide receiver Tyler Lockett to be fully recovered from leg injuries they suffered during the 2016 season.  Carroll says both figure to be back in time for the start of the 2017 campaign.  The coach says safety Kam Chancellor and defensive end Cliff Avril should also be ready after both underwent surgery during the offseason.

We tip it off with Prep basketball news where last night at the Black Hole on campus at Mt. View where the Cougars turn back Hillsboro, 57-55 to win a Play-In game. The Cougars, 16-8, travel to face LaSalle Friday night in the First Round of the OSAA 5A State playoffs. IMC Champion and 4th ranked Summit hosts Central on Friday with the winner advancing to the State Tournament next week at Oregon State.

Last night in girl’s action…Summit runs by Milwaukie, 68-56. The Lady Storm travel to play at Silverton, a number-3 seed, Saturday. Ridgeview was blasted at Wilsonville, 78-31. Bend, the Girls IMC Champion hosts Hermiston tomorrow night at 530pm in a playoff game with the winners advancing to the 5A State Tournament at Oregon State.

The NAIA small college National Tournament field has been selected and the Cascade Collegiate Conference will send 5 teams to Branson, Missouri next Wednesday.

Northwest Christian, coached by former Duck great Luke Jackson, got an automatic bid winning the regular season crown, but getting bumped out of the League playoffs by Corban College of Salem who won the Cascade Tourney Title and heads to Mizzou.

Joining the Beacons and Warriors at the NAIA Tournament is Oregon Tech, Eastern Oregon, and College of Idaho.

Men’s college hoops last night saw 3rd ranked UCLA improve to 27-and-3 with the Bruins 98-66 win over Washington. USC beat Wazzu by twenty-three, 87-64. 2 games in the Pac this evening feature Colorado hosting Stanford at 6, followed by Utah greeting Cal at 8.

Seahawks' CB Shead May Not Be Ready For Start Of Season

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  There's a good chance that Seattle Seahawks cornerback DeShawn Shead won't be ready for the start of the 2017 season.  General Manager John Schneider told reporters at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis yesterday that Shead will not likely be sufficiently recovered from a torn ACL to be good to go for opening day.  Shead suffered the injury during Seattle's playoff loss to Atlanta.  Schneider says he won't rule out Shead being ready for the opener, saying he's doing very well with his rehab.

(Auburn Hills, MI)  --  Marcus Morris scored 37 points as the Pistons outlasted the Trail Blazers 120-113 in overtime at The Palace.  Damian Lillard just missed a triple-double for Portland with 34 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.  The Blazers have lost five-of-six to slip to 24-and-35.  The Blazers return home to host the Thunder tomorrow night.

OSU's Hanson, Oregon's Ionescu Earn Pac-12 Honors

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Oregon State's Gabriella Hanson and Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu are earning Pac-12 honors.  Hanson is the conference Defensive Player of the Year, while Ionescu is the league's top newcomer.  Hanson is the third-straight OSU Beaver to win the award.  Meanwhile, Ionescu is the first Oregon Duck to be named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year since 1999.

Oregon Meets Arizona In Pac-12 Tournament

(Seattle, WA)  --  Sixth-seed Oregon meets 11th-seeded Arizona in the women's Pac-12 Tournament tomorrow.  The Ducks defeated the Wildcats earlier this season on the road 79-65.  Oregon State is the top seed and will face the winner between Cal and Stanford on Friday.
 

Timbers Open Season Friday

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers open the MLS regular season in just a few days on Friday versus Minnesota United FC at Providence Park.  The soccer club wrapped up its seven-match preseason slate with a win over the L.A. Galaxy.  The Timbers are trying to rebound from missing the MLS playoffs last season.
 

#6 Oregon Wraps Season At OSU On Saturday

(Eugene, OR)  --  Sixth-ranked Oregon men's basketball wraps its regular season on Saturday at Oregon State.  The Ducks have won five straight to improve to 26-and-4, and a Pac-12 best, 15-and-2.  The Beavers are just 5-and-25 overall and a conference-worst 1-and-16.
