(Portland, OR)  --  The Oregon Ducks are securing the nation's number four tight end.  Moliki Matavao announced his commitment to the Ducks on Instagram Live yesterday.  The Liberty High School grad from Nevada was down to a final four of Oregon, Georgia, Penn State and UCLA before making his decision. 

(Undated)  --  NFL players and coaches will work remotely for a bit longer.  The NFL is extending its virtual offseason through mid-June.  It was set to end today.  Commissioner Roger Goodell says they hope to have coaches back at team facilities by the end of next week according to local health guidelines.

(Undated)  --  The Rockets and Mavericks remain on hold when or if the NBA season will resume.  They will likely get no more clarity today after the NBA Board of Governors meets.  USA Today Sports reports the NBA will unlikely make a decision today on plans to resume the season.  The meeting will stimulate discussions on varying proposals, including playing all games without fans at Disney properties in central Florida.  The league has not established how much time it needs to finalize logistics for a possible late July restart.

Daniels has announced his decision to transfer to Georgia.  Daniels opened last season as the starter, but a season-opening knee injury derailed his season.  True freshman Kedon Slovis took over as the starter for the Trojans. 

(Undated)  --  Minor League Baseball players are feeling the brunt of the coronavirus pandemic.  Multiple reports say hundreds of players were cut Thursday with more expected as the likelihood of no season becomes reality.  Some clubs began laying off front office and game-day staff weeks ago.

(Undated)  --  NFL owners are punting on a potential alternative to the onside kick.  They tabled the idea for the second straight year during Thursday's video conference.  Meanwhile, the league will experiment with expanded communication between the replay booth and on-field officials in the preseason.

(Boston, MA)  --  For the first time in its 124-year history, there will be no Boston Marathon.  The iconic race has been called off by Boston Mayor Marty Walsh due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  It was originally postponed from April 20th and moved to September 14th, but Walsh says it won't be safe to run then either.

(Austin, TX)  --  The state of Texas will allow outdoor pro sports events to have a limited number of fans starting Monday.  Governor Greg Abbott has revised his previous order to hold events without spectators.  Venues will be limited to 25-percent of normal capacity and must follow state health protocols.

(Inglewood, CA)  --  The L.A. Rams plan to open SoFi Stadium on August 14th.  That will be the date of the Rams' first preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.  Three of the Rams' preseason games are at home.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Dodger Stadium is now the largest COVID-19 testing site in California.  The drive-thru testing site can test six-thousand people per day.  Testing is done in the parking lot.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The L.A. Dodgers are announcing salary cuts in order to prevent furloughs or layoffs.  Only employees making more than 75-thousand-dollars a year will be affected.  The team said in a statement that this move allows them to save jobs.

(Undated)  --  LeBron James is among the athletes speaking out about the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.  Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police on Monday night and the video of the incident sparked protests and national outrage.  James posted a photo on social media showing the cop kneeling on Floyd's neck, and another photo of Kaepernick kneeling on the sideline.  The four cops have since been fired.

(Springfield, MA)  --  The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is moving this year's enshrinement ceremony until 2021.  Executive Jerry Colangelo announced the news yesterday.  Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Garnett highlight the class.

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Oakland A's are implementing furloughs and salary reductions as play remains suspended.  Scouts will be furloughed next week, and the player development staff will likely get hit next.  The team will also stop paying minor league players at the end of the month.

(New York, NY)  --  The NHL is planning to resume its season but is not putting any firm dates on when games will begin.  Commission Gary Bettman says he expects the season will go into the fall, well past when it usually wraps up.  It will resume with an expanded 24-team tournament to decide the winner of the Stanley Cup.  Games will take place in two hub cities and fans will not be allowed to attend . Players can begin working out in early June and team practices begin in early July.  Bettman says they will decide when games begin depending on the status of the pandemic.

(Undated)  --  Some of the best Seattle sports has to offer will be hosting the 2020 virtual ESPY's.  Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, Storm legend Sue Bird and U.S. Soccer and OL Reign star Megan Rapinoe will host the annual event.  With COVID-19 affecting sports this year, the event will be used to honor those that have made courageous, humanitarian efforts.

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard says he has no plans to return to the court if the NBA season returns unless his team can make it to the playoffs.  Lillard tells Yahoo Sports if the league returns and the team is just playing for the sake of playing, he will be with them but not taking part in the action.  The Blazers were 29-and-37 and ninth in the Western Conference when league play was paused.  It's not known if and when the league resumes what the playoff format would be.

(Undated)  --  MLB wants players to take less money for a shortened season.  ESPN reports the first economic proposal to the union has the highest-paid players taking significant pay cuts and the lowest-paid players lesser cuts of their prorated share.  The Players' Association is expected to reject the proposal.

(Concord, NC)  --  NASCAR's best are taking another go tonight at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  William Byron will be on the pole up front alongside teammate Alex Bowman.  Brad Keselowski won the Coca-Cola 600 Sunday at Charlotte.  He will start in the 20th position.

(Undated)  --  Former USC running back Reggie Bush is warning against the dangers of paying college athletes.  In an interview with Playboy, Bush discussed how paying athletes and not giving guidance along with it could "destroy" them.  Bush took to social media to say the comments were taken out of context.

(Undated)  --  Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is upping the ante to try and lure former boxing champ Mike Tyson out of retirement.  According to MMA Fighting, BKFC is now set to offer the 53-year-old more than 20-million-dollars as well as charitable donations.  Tyson's last match was back in 2005.

(New York, NY)  --  NBPA executive director Michele Roberts conducted team-by-team conference calls as the league works toward its resumption.  According to ESPN, Roberts gathered feedback from players as she detailed the format for a possible return in Orlando.  The financials of each option were also reportedly discussed with teams.

(Undated)  --  The clock is ticking if Major League Baseball is to start the season around the Fourth of July.  The league and union are still trying to work through salary and revenue issues, but will presumably need a resolution by the end of next week in order for a second spring training in mid-June.
 

(New York, NY)  --  One NFL executive is making his feelings about the league's pass interference rule known.  NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent told NBC Sports the league "failed miserably" in its introduction of pass interference reviews in the 2019 season.  Vincent discussed the importance of not rushing future rule changes and that the failures of the decision to implement the change in 2019 was on display during the season.  The NFL competition committee to declined to renew the rule last month.

(Atlanta, GA)  --  Sunday's "The Match: Champions For Charity" golf event is now the most-watched golf telecast in cable TV history.  While raising 20-million dollars for coronavirus relief, star athletes Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning drew an average of five-point-eight million viewers across all Turner platforms.  Peak viewership came around the midpoint of the match with over six-million viewers.  The two-on-two event, at Medalist Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida, was won by Woods and Manning.  It was also the number one trending topic on Twitter Sunday.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Lakers forward LeBron James could have been a Dallas Cowboy.  LeBron's business partner Maverick Carter said on Uninterrupted that James received a contract to play for Dallas during the 2011 NBA lockout.  James said he began training for football during the fall of that year and dreams about playing all the time.  He was a five-star football recruit out of high school, but chose pro hoops.

(Undated)  --  NFL owners will vote on rule change proposals next week, including the use of a sky judge and an alternative to the onside kick.  Teams received a list of potential rule changes yesterday, with a virtual vote set for next Thursday.  The onside kick alternative would be a 4th-and-15 from a team's own 25.

(Undated)  --  Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie may have just revealed the NBA's start up dates.  Responding to a tweet about the league being back on June 21st, Dinwiddie posted that the NBA's bubble site games would start July 15th and practice on June 21st.  Orlando is considered a frontrunner to host games.

(Thousand Oaks, CA)  --  Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald wants fans in the seats when the season starts.  Donald told ESPN yesterday that you need fans to play a game and not having them would take the excitement out of the game.  California Governor Gavin Newsom stated earlier this week that playing in full stadiums is unlikely in 2020. 

(Undated)  --  The Players' Association is responding to MLB's health and safety proposal to start the 2020 season.  The union is reportedly seeking clarification on issues like frequency of coronavirus testing, protocols for positive tests and protection for high-risk players.  MLB is hoping to start around July 4th.

(Undated)  --  The NHLPA is in the process of voting on a return-to-play proposal put in place by the league and its owners.  According to The Athletic, voting could spill into today and results should be known by tonight.  The format would feature a 24-team playoff.

(Undated)  --  Commissioner Rob Manfred and MLB attorneys plan to present an economic plan to the union by tomorrow, USA Today reports.  The owners reportedly want a 50-50 revenue split with the players if games are played with no fans.  The Players Association can spend the Memorial Day weekend mulling the offer to strategize a counter-proposal.  The blueprint is to have the teams return by mid-June to resume spring training and start the season in early July.

(Undated)  --  The NFL is in for a big financial hit if games are played this year without fans.  Forbes projects the league could lose 5.5 billion-dollars based on stadium revenue figures from 2018.  Players would also be directly affected as they receive nearly 50-percent of total revenue based on the labor agreement.

(Undated)  --  The NHL is reportedly working on a playoff format should it resume its season amid the ongoing coronavirus.  According to ESPN, the league is working on a 24-team, conference based format for the playoffs.  The top four seeds in each conference based on points percentage, would receive a bye in the first round.  Seeds five-through-twelve would play a best-of-five play-in series.

(Frisco, TX)  --  Former 49er and Raider Aldon Smith is back in the NFL.  He received conditional approval yesterday to allow him to play this season for the Cowboys.  Smith has not appeared in a game since 2015.  He has struggled with alcohol abuse and legal issues, including domestic abuse. The Cowboys signed Smith to a one-year four-million dollar contract in March. He logged 47-and-a-half sacks in five seasons with the 49ers and Raiders before multiple-suspensions derailed his career. 

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  The return of college sports is a step closer.  Yahoo! Sports reports the NCAA Division One Council has voted to allow voluntary, on-campus athletic activities to resume in football and mens's and women's basketball starting June 1st.  The council is expected to address other sports by next week.

(New York, NY) -- The NFL is amending its Rooney Rule after few minority candidates were hired in recent years. The league adopted the rule in 2003 to require teams to interview qualified minority candidates for head coach and coordinator jobs. Now, teams will need to interview at least two minorities for head coaching jobs and one for a coordinator's post. The league is also considering using draft pick positioning as incentive to hire more diverse coaches and the front office. 

(New York, NY)  --  The NFL's Chief Medical Officer says the league's response to a positive test will be key to returning.  Doctor Allen Stills says they expect positive tests will occur and they are focused on how to prevent spread to others.  Stills and other health officials provided updates to owners during a conference call yesterday.  The league allowed teams to re-open facilities in cooperation with city and state guidelines as well on Tuesday.

(Undated)  --  A returning Seahawk is excited to be home.  Linebacker Bruce Irvin told reporters in a virtual call he can't wait to get back to work with the team that drafted him.  Irvin says he texted linebacker Bobby Wagner after Seattle's playoff win over the Eagles he wanted to come back to the team.

(New York, NY) --  Major League Soccer cancelled its All-Star Game amid its coronavirus hiatus.  Scheduled for later this summer in Los Angeles, the game would have featured a matchup of the best MLS players and Liga MX.  Next year's game is expected to go on at the same venue with the same format.  The league's season was suspended in mid-March due to the pandemic.

(Darlington, SC)  --  NASCAR's Cup Series is back on the track at Darlington again tonight.  It's the second race for the sports since it marked its return this past Sunday.  Kevin Harvick took home the win in the return while Alex Bowman finished second.

(Undated)  --  If the NHL is going to return to the ice amid the coronavirus, it could be a couple of weeks later than anticipated.  According to CBS Sports, the league views returning in mid-July as more "optimistic" than returning at the beginning of the month.  Commissioner Gary Bettman is determined to award the Stanley Cup this season, even if it means stretching into the fall.

(Inglewood, CA)  --  NFL owners are approving another 500-million-dollar loan for the L.A. Rams for SoFi Stadium development.  The Rams have now borrowed 900-million-dollars from the NFL for the new venue.  The Chargers are also helping to foot the bill.  The stadium was projected to cost 2.2-billion-dollars, but that amount is now above five-billion.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  The L.A. Angels plan to furlough non-playing employees beginning on June 1st.  The furloughs will affect scouts, front office staff and minor league coaches.  Employees will still have access to healthcare.

(Undated)  --  Scenarios for the NBA's return to action are still being discussed.  Marc Stein of the New York Times reports teams may hold a training camp at their own practice facilities before reporting to play in a "bubble" city, which would likely be Orlando or Las Vegas.  The hope is that all teams will begin practicing next month.

(Renton, WA)  --  Seahawks rookies finally know which numbers they'll be wearing when they take the field.  First-round pick Jordyn Brooks will be wearing number 56.  Darrell Taylor will wear 58 while Damien Lewis will wear number 68.  Other numbers include running back DeeJay Dallas wearing number 31.  Undrafted rookie free agents were also given numbers.

(Undated)  --  If the NHL is to resume its season, they have some cities in mind.  Commissioner Gary Bettman says the league has narrowed its list to eight or nine cities that can accommodate around a dozen teams in one location.  Some of the markets that have proposed to be a hub location include, Las Vegas, Edmonton and Vancouver.

(New York, NY)  --  It's not clear when the NBA Lottery is going to take place but the format is expected to be the same.  Reports state that when the lottery does take place its likely to feature the same format that was implemented the season prior.  The system that was implemented allows the top four spots to be selected via the lottery system.

(Undated)  --  If the NFL is able to play this fall, it could take some important steps to keeping players safe amid the coronavirus outbreak.  NFLPA medical director Thom Mayer is recommending that players where modified facemasks that protect themselves.  A prototype is currently being designed by Oakley that could feature surgical or N95 materials.

(New York, NY)  --  MLB still has work to do in order to start the season in early July.  ESPN reports their health and safety manual calls for 10-thousand COVID-19 tests per week as well as overhauling stadiums and in-game settings for social distancing.  MLB hopes to hold a second spring training next month.
 

(New York, NY)  --  The NFL will allow teams to reopen their practice facilities starting tomorrow contingent on state and local regulations.  Clubs will be required to have an infection control officer and are limited to no more than 75 staff members on site.  No coaches are allowed and only players rehabbing an injury.

(Renton, WA)  --  Recently acquired Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar has been released from jail on one-hundred-thousand-dollars bond.  Dunbar, along with Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker had a warrant issued for their arrest in Miramar, Florida on alleged charges of armed robbery with a firearm.  The attorneys for each player issued a statement saying witnesses had recanted and their clients were innocent. The Seahawks acquired Dunbar this offseason from the Washington Redskins.

(Undated)  --  The NHL and NHLPA are making ground on having a plan in place for the playoffs should the season resume amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.  According to The Athletic, there would be games played before a 24-team playoff would take place.  After the return-to-play committee settles on a format, 31 NHLPA player reps would have to vote on it for approval.

(Undated)  --  Players Association president Chris Paul says there's no question the majority of guys in the NBA want to return to finish the season.  The Oklahoma City guard tells ESPN's The Jump they want it to be as safe as possible, but they badly want to play.  Paul says the biggest thing is players miss the game.

(New York, NY)  --  Next month's Major League Baseball Draft will be held remotely.  According to a memo obtained by ESPN, teams will not be allowed to have a draft room and will make all selections via video conference.  The first round takes place June 10th, with rounds two through five the next day.

(Darlington, SC)  --  Kevin Harvick is taking the checkered flag after a dominant 293 laps in NASCAR's return to the track at Darlington to win the Real Heroes 400.  With no fans in attendance amid the ongoing coronavirus, Harvick was able to hold of Alex Bowman for his first win of the season.  Bowman finished in second while Kurt Busch took third.  Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five.  It's a quick turnaround for NASCAR's Cup Series as the drivers will be back on the track for another cup race at Darlington on Wednesday night.

(Undated)  --  President Trump says watching live golf on TV again is "a wonderful thing to see."  He made a surprise phone call on NBC Sports' live broadcast of the TaylorMade Driving Relief exhibition.  Trump said he's tired of watching old broadcasts and that we need sports in terms of the psyche of our county.

(Renton, WA)  --  There's plenty of speculation about the Seahawks having looked to move on from quarterback Russell Wilson in 2018.  According to NBC Sports, the Seahawks offered their star quarterback to the Cleveland Browns for the top overall pick in 2018.  The Browns selected Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield with that selection.  The Seahawks were coming off their first season in the Russell Wilson era without a playoff appearance at the time.  The quarterback has a no-trade clause in his contract and despite any discussions that may have happened, nothing came to fruition.

(Miramar, FL)  --  A pair of NFL cornerbacks are wanted by Miramar Police in south Florida in connection to armed robbery charges.  Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar and Giants cornerback Deandre Baker stole money and watches while armed with semi-automatic weapons at a party.  Baker's arrest warrant is for four charges of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.  Dunbar is wanted for four counts of armed robbery with a firearm.  Dunbar was acquired by the Seattle Seahawks this season and virtually met with reporters yesterday morning before charges were known.  Baker was a first round pick by the Giants in 2019.

(New York, NY)  --  NBA players will start experiencing reduced pay today.  All players are taking a 25-percent cut after a deal between the league and union.  ESPN reports LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant are among a few who have already been paid in full and will have to pay back the reduction.

(Undated)  --  At least one major leaguer doesn't plan on playing baseball for a reduced salary.  In a video posted to social media, Snell voiced his displeasure with the MLB's proposed 50-50 revenue split on Twitch.  He said taking a pay cut with the risk of getting the coronavirus is "just not worth it."

(Undated)  --  MLB commissioner Rob Manfred talked with CNN about potentially re-opening the league.  Manfred said that testing frequency is one of the key's to beginning the season and that a positive test wouldn't necessarily necessitate shutting a team down.  The commissioner says the league plans to discuss more in-depth safety protocols with the player's association in the coming days.

(Undated)  --  Power 5 conference commissioners are getting input from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on returning from the coronavirus.  The ACC's John Swofford tells reporters a recent conference call was very positive and he expects more.  He says the NFL is ahead of them on developing protocols.

(Undated)  --  When the NFL returns, one network could have some creative ideas for simulating a crowd environment in an empty stadium.  FOX broadcaster Joe Buck tells Sirius XM radio that it's likely that the network and others will use fake crowd noise.  Buck also suggested the possibility of a virtual crowd during a wide shot instead of showing an empty stadium.

(New York, NY)  --  Medical and safety protocols will be in place if and when the Major League Baseball season begins.  USA Today reports the league is trying to discourage players from spitting, high-fiving or taking Uber rides to the ballpark.  A formal medical/safety plan has yet to be presented to the union.

(Undated)  --  Talks to restart the season are in progress between MLB and the players union, but so far there is no deal.  The New York Post reports a 50-50 revenue-sharing plan was not formally presented after union head Tony Clark said it would not be agreed to.  Talks are expected to continue today.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners are reducing salaries in an effort to avoid layoffs and furloughs.  According to The Athletic, the team will implement a 20-percent pay cut for baseball operations and field staff that make 60-thousand dollars or more beginning June 1st.  The pay reduction is expected to run through the end of October.

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  State 48 could be among the first to allow pro sports back. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced further re-openings for the state, including the resumption of pro sports without fans beginning on Saturday.  The news could make the state of Arizona, which already houses Cactus League play, a viable option for hosting pro sports should they resume in the near future.

(Undated)  --  Some of the NBA's brightest stars are in favor of resuming the season after a private conference call.  Yahoo! Sports is reporting the call, led by Players Association President Chris Paul, included LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and others.  The players came to a collective agreement to take the court with proper safety measures once the league can start back up.  Their decision reportedly will hold significant weight for other players.  The NBA season has been suspended since March 11th due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Commissioner Adam Silver has said a decision on the season does not have to come until June.

(New York, NY)  --  Major League Baseball owners are in favor of restarting America's pastime around July 4th.  They approved a proposal today that'll now go to the players union.  No fans would be allowed in ballparks once the league begins its shortened season.  Around 82 regular season games would be played following a period of spring training next month.  The games would feature mostly divisional matchups with some interleague play included as well.  The postseason would have 14 teams instead of the usual ten as more wild card sports would be available.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks have been busy this offseason making plenty of moves.  One of those was bringing back linebacker Bruce Irvin.  In an offseason where cap space is a talking point given the free agency of Jadeveon Clowney, Irvin's cap number has been revealed.  Reports state Irvin's cap hit is 5.9-million and he will earn a guaranteed five million dollars.

(Undated)  --  Dr. Anthony Fauci says football is a "perfect set up" for the spread of the coronavirus.  In an interview with NBC Sports, the nation's leading infectious disease expert added that constant hitting in the sport will allow the virus to be transmitted rapidly.  Although he acknowledged testing players every day is unrealistic, Fauci pushed for testing at least twice per week when the NFL resumes.  The White House task force member also said "the virus will make the decision" of when the league continues with its scheduled games this fall.

(Undated)  --  The World Baseball Classic reportedly will not be played in 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic.  ESPN Deportes first reported the tournament's cancellation and the New York Post says it will be moved to 2023.  Originally scheduled for next March, the sites for the fifth WBC included Taiwan, Tokyo, Phoenix and Miami.  Major League Baseball owners are in favor of starting its season around July 4th.  They approved a proposal today that'll now go to the players union.  No fans would be allowed in ballparks once the league begins its shortened season.  Around 82 regular season games would be played following a period of spring training next month.

(Undated)  --  The coronavirus pandemic is leading the American Hockey League to call it quits this season.  The league says it's canceling the rest of the regular season along with the Calder Cup playoffs.  League President David Andrews said in a statement the move was made because finishing the season "is not feasible in light of current conditions."  There will be no champion this season, which is the first time that's happened in the more than 80 years the AHL has been around.

(Undated)  --  MLB will hold a conference call with owners today to discuss its plan to start the season.  If they agree, The Athletic reports the league will submit its proposal to the union tomorrow.   A season of 78 to 82 games would start in early July, likely without fans.  The playoffs would be expanded to 14 teams.

(New York, NY)  --  NBA commissioner Adam Silver and NBPA executive director Michele Roberts held a call with its players this past Friday.  Silver used the call to address concerns and outline the steps ahead for the league returning.  According to reports, Silver said a decision doesn't have to be made now about returning and could be made in June. He also stated there are no guarantees when fans may return to arenas, including next season amid the ongoing coronavirus.  The commissioner also addressed concerns from players about what would happen if another player tested positive should play return and over whether or not they have to return with the re-opening of facilities in areas where restrictions have eased.

(Undated)  -- According to ESPN, 60 of over 57-hundred MLB employees tested positive for coronavirus antibodies.  The study was held in mid-April and showed a prevalence in the employee population of 0.7 percent.  70 percent of those who had antibodies also were asymptomatic.  26 of the 30 teams participated in the study.  The Arizona Diamondbacks delivered the most samples in the study with 362.

(Undated)  --  One former NBA superstar feels the league should just call it a day and wait until next season to return.  Shaquille O'Neal tells USA Today that the league should just scrap the season and come back next year.  He said a team that won after a rushed return and altered playoff format wouldn't be legit.

(Darlington, SC)  --  NASCAR is set to resume racing Sunday.  There will be seven races in 11 days, with the first being at Darlington Raceway.  Four of those races will be Monster Energy Cup Series races.  Only essential personnel will be allowed at the tracks with health screenings each day.

(Bristol, CT)  --  ESPN is bringing in new announcers for its Monday Night Football production.  Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland are out, but they will remain in a prominent role at the station.  According to the New York Post, Sportscenter anchor Steve Levy, former NFL quarterbacks Dan Orlovsky and Brian Griese [[ GREASY ]], and former NFL star Louis Riddick are the favorites to replace the duo.  The first Monday Night Football scheduled is a double header, featuring the Pittsburgh Steelers at the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans at the Denver Broncos September 14th. 

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  One MLB star wants to see his fellow players in the Olympics.  Bryce Harper said on a Barstool Sports podcast that MLB players should participate in the Olympics and he doesn't understand why the league's best players don't play.  Only amateur and minor league players take part due to it taking place during the major league season.

(Undated)  --  With some NBA team facilities set to re-open today, a few team officials are worried.  According to ESPN, they are concerned about the psychological effects returning to the work place may have amid a global pandemic.  The league is expected to have an all-players call today where players can voice their concern over the current climate.

(New York, NY)  --  With a new schedule released, the NFL still has plans in place amid the coronavirus pandemic.   According to ESPN, the schedule is designed to provide flexibility should games be forced to start late.  Reports also state that the league could be willing to push the Super Bowl back if necessary.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks' 2020 schedule is out.  Seattle will open the season at the Atlanta Falcons on September 13th.  The home opener will be against the New England Patriots in Week Two on Sunday Night Football.  Seattle will have four primetime games in all, also playing the Vikings, Cardinals and Eagles.

(Undated)  --  It's not clear when the NHL will return but the league is reportedly discussing various playoff formats.  According to TSN, the league discussed a 16, 20 and 24-team playoff format in its return-to-play committee call.  Teams that may have normally missed the playoffs could now potentially get in under an expanded format.

(Undated)  --  The NFL schedule is being released today.  All 32 teams will find out when and where they will be playing for the 2020 season.  The Seahawks will learn if they'll be at home or on the road week one.  The NFL will also not have any international games this year amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

(Austin, TX)  --  Former Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has allegedly found himself at one end of a violent domestic dispute.  According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the current Baltimore Ravens safety was allegedly held at gunpoint by his wife Nina after she located Thomas and his brother Seth naked in bed with other women.  His wife allegedly then pointed a gun at him before he was able to wrestle it away.  The safety was not arrested while his wife and two acquaintances of her's were.

The call will serve as an open forum to address concerns.  Meanwhile Mavericks owner Mark Cuban isn't in a rush to open up.  Cuban said on the '77 minutes in heaven' podcast there is no point to opening up while there is a lack of testing to go around.

(New York, NY)  --  The NFL is taking its next steps toward re-opening its facilities.  According to ESPN, the league has sent out a memo to all 32 teams instructing them to have re-opening protocols in place by May 15th for their facilities.  Team facilities have been shutdown since March amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

(Undated)  --  MLB is telling its players to get ready.  According to ESPN, the league is finalizing a return-to-play proposal.  Teams have begun to inform players to prepare for a potential spring training in June with a season beginning in July.  The league is suspected to have the proposal ready within the week.

(Undated)  --  The offseason continues and pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney remains unsigned.  However, the pass rusher isn't ruling out a return to Seattle.  Clowney told FOX 26 in Houston he loves the Seattle environment and he hopes the two sides can come together.  Clowney also mentioned he'll be ready for training camp whenever that will be.

(Renton, WA)  --  There could be another run with the Seahawks for Marshawn Lynch.  The running back told ESPN his agent has been in discussions with Seattle about a return.  Lynch returned to the Seahawks this past season in their run up to the playoffs after a bout of injuries at the running back position.

(Undated)  --  While the fate of this NBA season is up in the air, NBA's 2K League is underway.  The Esports league's 23 teams are playing remotely for their local markets while broadcasting live on Twitch and YouTube.  ESPN2 will also televise some games.  Organizers say over the next six weeks, there will be four best-of-three matches every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights with each series counting as a regular season win or loss.

(Knoxville, IA)  --  Kyle Larson may be suspended from NASCAR, but he's going to be on a track soon.  Larson will race in a World of Outlaws event Friday without fans in Knoxville, Iowa.  The event is not associated with NASCAR.  Larson was suspended after using a racial slur during a virtual race.  His contract with Chip Ganassi was terminated after the loss of sponsorships.

(Undated)  --  Legendary football coach Don Shula has passed away at the age of 90.  Shula was the winningest coach in NFL history with 347 victories between the regular season and playoffs to his total.  The Hall of Fame coach led the Dolphins to the NFL's only perfect season in 1972.  Shula won two Super Bowls with the franchise.  He also played in the league from 1951 to 1957.

(Undated)  --  There will be no football abroad this season.  In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the NFL is canceling its 2020 international series.  Games had been scheduled to be played in London and Mexico City.

(Bristol, CT)  --  Baseball will be back on television real soon.  ESPN has reached an agreement to air six regular-season games per week of South Korea's KBO baseball league, starting tonight.  The league kicks off its season Tuesday, and the first game between the NC Dinos and the Samsung Lions will air at 1 a.m. Eastern Tuesday morning.  Karl Ravech, Eduardo Perez, Jon Schiambi, Jessica Mendoza and Kyle Peterson will broadcast the games in English for American viewers.

(Undated)  --  The NHL is still taking its time to make a decision on the draft.   According to TSN, the league could make a decision later this week or next in regards to this year's draft.  Reports also state the league could use rules from 2012 for the draft lottery, where only the bottom five teams will be eligible to win the draft lottery.

(New York, NY)  --  Despite the unknown of if there will be any football later this year, the NFL still plans to release its schedule.  The league confirmed that it will be releasing its full 17-game schedule late this week.  As of now, games are still expected to begin on September 10th, with Super Bowl 55 taking place on February 7th in Tampa.  The league continues to evaluate contingency options for starting the league year amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

(Undated)  --  Former Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell is the winner of the first MLB The Show Players League in a three-game sweep against Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito in a best-of-five championship.  Snell's Tampa Bay Rays beat Giolito's Sox 5-1, 3-2 and 6-0.  The three-inning games were aired on ESPN.  For winning, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Suncoast will receive 25-thousand-dollars.  Snell tweeted after his win: "I needed it so bad!"  The team also congratulated the southpaw on Twitter, photoshopping a banner being hung in his honor at Tropicana Field. 

(New York, NY)  --  The NBA is indefinitely postponing its Draft Lottery and Combine amid ongoing coronavirus concerns.  Stadium is reporting the news as both events were originally set for later this month in Chicago.  While the lottery determines the draft order, the combine is a workout showcase for prospects hoping to enter the league.  The pandemic forced the NBA to suspend its season in March after a player tested positive for the virus.  The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 25th in Brooklyn.

(New York, NY)  --  While the NBA waits to resume its current season, the league could push back its next.  According to ESPN, the NBA and its board of governors have had discussions about delaying the start of the 2020-21 season to December.  The league has already postponed the draft lottery and combine while still waiting to make a decision on the draft itself.

(Churchill Downs, KY)  --  The legend of Secretariat continues to grow.  The 1973 Triple Crown winner waited until the final lengths to surge past the rest of the competition to win the 2020 virtual Kentucky Derby, which featured every Triple Crown winner.  Secretariat was able to hold off Citation and Seattle Slew.  The Kentucky Derby was a computer-simulated race this year amid the ongoing coronavirus.

(Undated)  --  Former NHL player Georges Laraque took to social media over the weekend to announce he has contracted coronavirus.  Few details are available aside from the former enforcer tweeting a picture of him in a hospital gown in English and French saying he's been diagnosed and that he has asthma.  "Not the best news, will fight it off," he writes.  Laraque played for the Edmonton Oilers, Arizona Coyotes, and Montreal Canadiens in his career.

The University's new deadline is September first, to give potential new Ducks time to plan for college. The University has also developed portals for high school seniors to learn more about the campus through virtual tours and visits.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.  General Manager John Schneider revealed the news on KJR-AM last night, saying he's unsure of the timeline when Wright will be healthy.  The 30-year-old has been with Seattle since being drafted in 2011.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are holding video conferences due to COVID-19, but Thursday's featured an unexpected guest.  Head coach Pete Carroll got actor Will Ferrell to impersonate new tight end Greg Olsen and make some jokes on screen.  The two know each other from Carroll's days coaching USC.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Head coaches across all Oregon Ducks sports will be taking pay cuts next season.  The athletic department says all have agreed to accept 10-percent salary reductions for the 2020-21 school year due to the coronavirus pandemic.  School administrators have already taken pay cuts.

(Undated)  --  Lakers superstar LeBron James isn't giving up on resuming the NBA season.  He tweeted that "as soon as it's safe we would like to finish our season."  In response to speculation around the league that some are ready to give up on coming back, James said he and the team are ready to play.

(South Williamsport, PA)  --  For the first time ever, there will be no Little League World Series this year.  It's been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Regional tournaments and championships in other Little League divisions have also been canceled.  All events are expected to return next summer.

(Undated)  --  Former big league manager Buck Showalter says if MLB plays games without fans, it will impact the players.  The three-time AL Manager of the Year tells ESPN Radio that fans provide a key emotional element.  Showalter managed the only game in history without fans for Baltimore in 2015.

(Undated)  --  A second spring training for the Mariners MLB could take place at T-Mobile Park.  USA Today cites four team execs as saying the league is preparing for that possibility to save time, money and travel once the green light is given to start the season.  Clubs would likely get three weeks of prep time.
