ESPN reports the sides weren't able to reach a deal on a new collective bargaining agreement on Tuesday. Though there were some positive gains as the MLB reportedly agreed to accept parameters of a pre-arbitration bonus pool. The sides do remain apart on a starting minimum salary for first-year players, revenue sharing and a competitive balance tax. It's reported that a deal would need to be reached by February 1st to avoid delaying the start of spring training camps.

(Cooperstown, NY) -- David Ortiz will be a baseball Hall of Famer, while Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens will not. Ortiz was announced into the National Baseball Hall of Fame's 2022 Class Tuesday. Chevez Goodwin had a big game with 20 points and 12 rebounds. USC outscored the Beavers 44-29 in the second half to avoid the upset. The team sits 4-and-1 in Pac-12 play.

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Bruins are taking their first conference loss. Number-3 UCLA was upset by Oregon 84-81 in overtime in Los Angeles. The Bruins scored the final six points of regulation to push the game to OT. There the team was outscored 11-to-8 as they dropped to 10-and-2 on the season. UCLA now sits 2-and-1 in Pac-12 play.

(New York, NY) -- Major League Baseball and the players association are still on separate pages when it comes to the league's current lockout. The sides met Thursday for the first time since owners locked out players on December 2nd. ESPN reports the MLB made a labor proposal that was that rejected by the MLBPA. That proposal reportedly offered little of what players are seeking in the new collective bargaining agreement.

(Portland, OR) -- Blazers point guard Damian Lillard's abdominal injury is going to keep him sidelined even longer. ESPN is reporting that Lillard will have surgery to address his lingering abdominal injury. The procedure will reportedly keep Lillard out for at least 6-to-8 weeks. The 31-year-old guard aggravated the injury while playing for Team USA in the Tokyo Olympics last summer and has not played since December 31st. Portland is 16-and-24 and is also dealing with the absence of CJ McCollum, who has missed time with a collapsed lung.

That includes anyone working within 15 feet of players. The majority of the positive cases have reportedly come in the last month as NBA general managers scramble to find replacement workers. That has proven difficult as core staffers have a huge impact on the day-to-day operations.

(Stanford, CA) -- The Trojans are taking their first loss of the season. Number-7 USC fell 75-69 to Stanford in the Bay Area. Isaiah Mobley led the charge with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the losing effort. Boogie Ellis chipped in with 14 points as the Trojans dropped to 13-and-1. USC was outscored 43-36 in the second half to take its first conference loss as well. The Cardinal improved to 9-and-4 with the victory.

(Memphis, TN) -- Ja Morant lifted the Grizzlies to a 10th straight win as they beat the Warriors 116-108 in Memphis. Morant scored a game-high 29 points and dished out eight assists for Memphis, which improved to 29-and-14. Tyus Jones shot a perfect 5-for-5 from deep as he added 17 points off the bench. The Grizzlies extended their franchise record to 10 wins in a row. Steph Curry tallied 27 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds for his ninth career triple double.

(Flushing, NY) -- The Mets are retiring Keith Hernandez's number next season. The team announced today that Number 17 will be retired. Hernandez, who played for the Mets from 1983 to 1989, was also part of the Mets' 1986 world championship team. He joins Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, Tom Seaver, Mike Piazza and Jerry Koosman to be honored.

(Portland, OR) -- One of the best Timbers players is on the move. MLS Soccer-dot-com reported that Diego Valeri is being transferred to Argentinian club Lanus. The deal isn't 100-percent done yet, but the transaction would mean the Timbers get a transfer fee of 175-thousand dollars and be absolved from his cap hit in 2022. Valeri has 86 goals and 91 assists in 262 regular-season MLS games. He also helped Portland win the 2015 MLS Cup.

(Tampa, FL) -- Tom Brady's head coach wants him to take home some hardware. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said it would be a "travesty" if Brady doesn't win MVP. The 44-year-old Brady has thrown for a league-leading 5,316 yards, 43 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. As a result, Brady led the Buccaneers to 13-and-4 record and an NFC South Division title. He also set an NFL record with 485 completions this season.

USC QB Jaxson Dart entered the portal on Monday, becoming the latest collegiate star to possibly be on the move before next season. Dart split time under center with Kedon Slovis last season for the Trojans. He threw for 1,353 yards, nine touchdowns and five picks over six games of action. The decision comes after Caleb Williams entered the portal last week and could possibly reunite with Lincoln Riley at USC. ESPN reports the Trojans are among the top schools under consideration for the Oklahoma QB.

The Lakers trailed by as many as 29, but used a late 21-0 run to cut into the deficit. Los Angeles drops to 21-and-20.

He added that his goal is to win more Super Bowls and, "My plan is to win them here." Now this is hardly a guarantee since he never guaranteed he will stay with the Seahawks, but it appears he is considering them for the future. Wilson has thrown for 2,875 yards, 22 touchdowns and five picks this season and missed three games with a finger injury.

Oilers head coach Dave Tippett announced Tuesday that Connor McDavid has tested positive for the coronavirus.
