(Honolulu, HI)  --  Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett could miss the start of training camp.  Bennett signed a four-year, 28-point-five-million-dollar deal during the last offseason, and says he plans to honor it.  But he also told KHON-TV in Honolulu he hopes his agent can work with the Seahawks on altering the contract to put him among the top eight in the defensive end position.  Bennett also said he might stay at his home in Hawaii if a new contract isn't done by the time training camp starts next month.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Free agent-to-be LaMarcus Aldridge is meeting with New York Knicks brass when he hits the open market this summer.  ESPN.com reports Aldridge will talk to Knicks president Phil Jackson, GM Steve Mills and coach Derek Fisher in Los Angeles.  "L.A." will also reportedly meet with the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.

(Montreal, Quebec)  --  Team USA goes head-to-head with Germany in the semifinals of the Women's World Cup today in Montreal.  Portland Thorns standouts' Alex Morgan and Tobin Heath are expected to be on the pitch.  The Americans moved on after a 1-nil victory over China in the quarterfinals on Friday.  The Germans beat France on penalty kicks to advance.

(Sandy, UT)  --  The Portland Timbers visit Real Salt Lake tomorrow in the Round of 16 of teh Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.  The Timbers had a dramatic win over Seattle Sounders FC in the only matchup in the fourth round between the rivals.  This will be the second match between Real Salt Lake and the Portland Timbers in the last three years in the Open Cup tournament.   RSL topped Portland 2-1 in the semifinal round in 2013.  Kickoff from Rio Tinto Stadium at 8:00.

(Portland, OR)  --  LaMarcus Aldridge is refuting an ESPN report that he's leaving the Portland Trail Blazers.  Aldridge reportedly told Blazers general manager Neal Olshey that the report isn't true.  Aldridge has said in the past that he won't sign a three-year deal to stay with Portland, but would instead sign a five-year pact.  ESPN.com's Marc Stein had quoted "league sources" as saying that the trade of Nicolas Batum to Charlotte was an indicator that Aldridge was on his way out.
 

(Brooklyn, NY)  --  The Blazers reportedly traded their only pick in last night's draft to the Nets.  Yahoo! Sports reports Portland shipped first-round pick Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Steve Blake to Brooklyn for Mason Plumlee and the rights to second-round pick Pat Connaughton.

(Renton, WA)  --  All 34-thousand tickets to the 14 Seattle Seahawks open training-camp practices are sold.  The team says the tickets went on sale at ten a.m. yesterday and sold out in less than 90 minutes.  The open practices will start on July 31st and run through August 19th.

(Brooklyn, NY)  --  Oregon guard Joseph Young was selected by the Pacers with the 43rd overall pick in last night's draft.  Young averaged 20.7 points and 3.8 assists in 36 games with the Ducks last season.

(Undated)  --  LaMarcus Aldridge's days with the Blazers are apparently over.  ESPN cites a source close to Aldridge that says there's a "99.9 percent chance that he's out of Portland."  The four-time All-Star has spent his entire nine-year career with the Blazers.

(Hillsboro, OR)  --  The Hops scored all of their runs in the third inning in a 4-1 win over the Volcanoes.  Nate Robertson drove in two in the big inning for Hillsboro, which swept the three-game home series.  The Hops hit the road to take on Vancouver at 7:05 tonight.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers could have an entirely new look next season.  According to ESPN, the Blazers organization believes star forward LaMarcus Aldridge is going to sign somewhere else this offseason.  Aldridge is an unrestricted free agent.  The Spurs are the favorites for his services, but the Lakers have passed the Mavs as an option.  Portland traded small forward Nicolas Batum to the Hornets for Gerald Henderson and Noah Vonleh on Wednesday.  Center Robin Lopez and Wesley Matthews also join "LMA" as unrestricted free agents.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers are dealing forward Nicolas Batum after seven seasons with the team.  Yahoo! Sports reports Batum is heading to Charlotte in exchange for veteran swingman Gerald Henderson and forward Noah Vonleh.  The 26-year-old averaged 9.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game last season for Portland.  Henderson scored over 12 points per contest in his sixth season with Charlotte, while Vonleh was limited in his first season after being drafted ninth overall out of Indiana last year.

(Carson, CA)  --  The Galaxy built a 3-nil lead in the first half and cruised to a 5-nil victory over the Timbers at the StubHub Center.  Portland remains winless in Carson, dropping to 0-5-and-2 all-time.  The Timbers now sit in fourth place in the Western Conference at 25 points. They return home Sunday to host the Sounders.

(Nashville, TN)  --  Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota is not concerned he remains unsigned by the Tennessee Titans.  Mariota tells SiriusXM NFL Radio he's "not worried about it at all," and is confident his agent and the Titans will get it done.  The Heisman Trophy winner was selected second overall in this spring's NFL Draft.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Todd Stansbury is the new athletic director at Oregon State.  The university announced Thursday that he will begin his new position August 1st.  Stansbury returns to OSU after spending the last three-plus years as vice president and athletic director at the University of Central Florida.  He served as executive associate athletic director at Oregon State from 2003-2012.  Stansbury replaces Bob De Carolis, who resigned in May after nearly 17 years on the job.

(University Place, WA)  --  The first U.S. Open golf tournament to be played in the Pacific Northwest will get underway today in University Place, Washington.  The Chambers Bay course near Tacoma, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., opened in 2007 and is considered challenging by many pros.  Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, and Tiger Woods are among those scheduled to tee off today.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Felix Hernandez has his tenth win of the season on the books after pitching the Mariners to a 2-0 shutout over San Francisco.  Hernandez scattered four hits over eight innings and struck out five.  Austin Jackson and Robinson Cano each had an RBI for Seattle.  The Mariners and Giants will play again tonight at Safeco Field.

(Tukwila, WA)  --  Seattle Sounders' Clint Dempsey may face suspension after ripping a ref's notebook in an Open Cup meltdown in their loss to the Portland Timbers Tuesday.  After receiving a yellow card, Dempsey grabbed what looked like the referee's notebook and threw it to the ground.  He then picked it up and tore it, flinging the pieces back to the ground.  He faces a ban of up to three months for referee abuse and "assault" according to the language of the rules, which includes "damaging the referee's uniform or personal property."

(Dallas, TX)  --  Dallas Mavericks star forward Dirk Nowitzki says the team would "love to have," Trail Blazers soon-to-be free agent LaMarcus Aldridge.  Nowitzki praised "L.A.'s" mid-range game, defense and rebounding skills.  The Mavericks are considered the most likely landing spot if any franchise is going to pry the Dallas-born Aldridge out of Portland.

(Undated)  --  Oregon and Oregon State had nine players combined drafted in the MLB First-Year Player Draft this week.  The Ducks had five players to the Beavers four.  OSU hurler Andrew Moore was selected the highest at 72nd overall by the Mariners, while UO lefty Garrett Cleavinger went 102nd to the Orioles.

(Tualatin, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers continue working out prospects for the 2015 NBA Draft.  The team is bringing another crop of players to practice at their facility Tualatin.  The Blazers hold the 23rd overall in the first-round of the upcoming draft.  Arizona forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Georgia State guard R.J. Hunter have worked out this week.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  Geoff Loomis is the next head coach of Portland Pilots baseball.  He comes to Portland from Pacific Lutheran University, and replaces Chris Sperry, who parted ways with the school in May.  Loomis played for the Pilots from 1990-1992, and is a member of the UP Athletic Hall of Fame.

(Cleveland, OH)  --  The Seattle Mariners will seek to clinch a series win tonight after defeating Cleveland, 3-2.  Robinson Cano broke a slump and had two doubles and an RBI in last night's contest.  Starting pitcher Roenis Elias allowed one run on five hits and struck out three.  The Mariners and Indians will play game two of their three-game series in Cleveland this evening.

(Eugene, OR)  --  After two days of the First-Year MLB Draft, the Oregon Ducks have had three players selected.  The Baltimore Orioles selected left-hander Garrett Cleavinger in the third-round.  Righty Josh Graham was picked in the fourth round by the Atlanta Braves, while the Pirates selected third baseman Mitchell Tolman in the seventh round.

(West Linn, OR)  --  Karsen Lindell of West Linn was the first Oregon high school player selected in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft.  The Milwaukee Brewers chose the 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher in the ninth round, 271st overall.  He helped lead the Lions to a runner up finish in the Class 6A Oregon state playoffs.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State Beavers Andrew Moore and Jeff Hendrix have been selected in the first two days of the MLB First-Year Player Draft.  Moore, a right-handed pitcher went to the Seattle Mariners 72nd overall on day one.  The outfielder Hendrix went in the fourth-round to the New York Yankees.  The draft continues today at 9:00 a.m.

(Pendleton, OR)  --  The editor at the "East Oregonian" says the headline calling an ambidextrous A's pitcher a "amphibious pitcher" was a "silly mistake."  The headline has gone viral, and was due to "confusion from the person laying out the page on Friday night."  The story was about Oakland A's pitcher Pat Venditte, who can throw with both his right and left arms.

(Winnipeg, Manitoba)  --  Portland Thorns forward Alex Morgan was out of the US Women's Team lineup during their 3-1 victory over Australia in the team's World Cup opener.  The speedy 25-year-old, who has 51 goals in 84 international appearances, has a bone bruise in her left knee and hasn't played in a match since Portland's National Women's Soccer League opener on April 11th.  Morgan sat out nine games with the Thorns last season because of a left ankle sprain.

(Hillsboro, OR)  --  The Hillsboro Hops open their minor league season two weeks from today.  The team was the 2014 Northwest League champions.  Hillsboro welcomes rookie manager Shelley Duncan.  The Hops visit the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes on June 23rd.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners' first pick in this year's Major League Baseball Draft is a right-handed pitcher from Georgia.  Nick Neidert was chosen 60th in the draft.  The Mariners lost their first-round pick after signing free-agent Nelson Cruz last winter.  Seattle's second pick was right-handed Oregon State pitching ace Andrew Moore.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Thunder fell for the sixth time in seven games after a 52-40 loss to the L.A. Kiss in Los Angeles.  Kyle Rowley tossed for 233 yards and four touchdowns as Portland dropped to 3-and-7 on the year.  The Thunder return home Friday to face the Rattlers.

(Portland, OR)  --  Fanendo Adi scored a pair of second-half goals to give to Timbers a 2-nil victory over the Revolution at Providence Park on Saturday.  The win was Portland's third in-a-row and moved it to 6-5-and-4 on the year.  The Timbers are now off until June 20th when they play host to the Dynamo.

(Tualatin, OR)  --  The Blazers worked out six more NBA hopefuls in the team's third pre-draft workout at their practice facility in Tualatin on Saturday.  The group included Utah point guard Delon Wright, North Carolina wing J.P. Tokoto and LSU forward Jordan Mickey.  Portland holds the 23rd overall pick in this years draft.
 

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews, who underwent surgery in March to repair a torn Achilles tendon, is back on the court.  Matthews posted a video on Instagram that shows him shooting at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.  The video also shows him without a walking boot that he had removed on May 12th.  Matthews will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
 

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners' losing streak is now at six games, following a 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay.  Starting pitcher Roenis Elias allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six.  Robinson Cano had his 18th RBI of the year.  The M's and Rays will play game two of their four-game series tonight at Safeco Field.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners are adding power to their lineup with the acquisition of Marc Trumbo in a six-player deal with Arizona.  Also heading to Seattle is left­-handed pitcher Vidal Nuno, with reliever Dominic Leone, catcher Welington Castillo, and two minor leaguers going to the Diamondbacks.  Trumbo is batting .259 with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 46 games for Arizona.
 

(Undated)  --  Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback and former Oregon Duck Marcus Mariota has the best-selling jersey in the NFL for the month of May.  Mariota beat out fellow rookie signal-caller Jameis Winston of Tampa Bay in sales from the NFL's online store from May 1st through the 31st.  The Titans selected the Heisman Trophy winner second overall in the NFL Draft this past spring.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Three months removed from having season-ending surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon, Blazers guard Wesley Matthews is back on the basketball court.  Matthews posted a video on his Instagram account of him shooting three's at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.  The six year veteran is heading for unrestricted free agency this summer and early signs suggest he could be ready for the start of next season.

(Pullman, WA)  --  Oregon State assistant Marty Lees is the new baseball coach at Washington State.  Lees replaces the fired Donnie Marbut and is the 15th head coach in program history.  He spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Oklahoma State and the previous 11 at Oregon State.  He helped the Beavers to two national championships in 2006 and 2007.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Three-star linebacker Hunter Kampmoyer is committing to the Oregon Ducks.  Kampmoyer becomes the eighth pledge in the Ducks class of 2016.  The 6-foot-4, 235-pound originally committed to Arizona State, but de-committed at the end of April.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Thunder wide receiver V'Keon Lacey hauled in the Cutters Catch of the Week in the AFL last week.  Lacey made a spectacular one-handed touchdown catch between two SaberCat defenders in the fourth quarter of Portland's 42-61 loss to San Jose in Week 10.  The third-year wideout led the Thunder with five receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown in the game.  He will receive a Cutters hat and shirt in recognition of the catch.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The kickoff times for five Oregon Ducks football games are set.  UO is set to open the season against Eastern Washington at home at 5:00 p.m. on September 5th, while the Ducks welcome Georgia State at 11:00 a.m. on September 19th.  Oregon's game at Michigan State on September 12th is at 5:00, and 7:30 at Arizona State on October 29th.  The Civil War game against Oregon State on November 27th is at 12:30 or 1:00 p.m.
 

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners will try to regroup tonight, after losing to the New York Yankees, seven-two.  Felix Hernandez had a rough outing, allowing seven runs on six hits over four-and-two-thirds innings.  Seth Smith and Austin Jackson each got an RBI for the Mariners.  The two teams will play again tonight at Safeco Field.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State is releasing the television networks and times for four of their games this fall.  The Beavers open the season at home against Weber State on September 4th at 5:00 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.  Their September 19th matchup hosting San Jose State is at 5:00 on Pac-12 Network, while the next week against Stanford is at 7:00 p.m. on FOX Sports.  The Civil War is set against Oregon at 12:30 or 1:00 on FOX or FOX Sports 1 on November 27th.
 

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The job posting for the soon-to-be open Oregon State athletic director position closes Sunday.  OSU president Ed Ray tells the "Oregonian" the search is still in the "information-gathering stage."  The school is trying to fill the position before current A.D. Bob De Carolis officially resigns on June 30th.

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  An online sportsbook is releasing its projected win totals for the upcoming college football season.  Betting website 5Dimes projects the over/under for Oregon wins at nine and-a-half, while just four wins for Oregon State.  The Ducks won 13 games last season, but have key losses on their roster including Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Marcus Mariota.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners are getting ready for a three-game series with the New York Yankees after losing three of four to Cleveland.  The M's lost to the Indians last night, 6-3, in 12 innings.  Nelson Cruz and Seth Smith each had an RBI for Seattle.  The Mariners and Yankees will begin their series tonight at Safeco Field.

(Undated)  --  The second-seeded Oregon softball team was eliminated in the Women's College World Series.  The Ducks lost 7-1 to the Bruins to head to the loser's bracket and then their season came to an end with a 2-1 loss to Alabama.  Michigan and Florida are meeting in the championship series.

(Undated)  --  The local teams didn't have much luck in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.  Both Oregon State and Oregon were eliminated in the regional round.  The Beavers beat Texas in their opener and then dropped consecutive games to VCU and Dallas Baptist to be sent home.  The Ducks split their first two games, beating Iowa and losing to Canisius before having their season end with a loss to the Hawkeyes.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Thunder fell at home to the SaberCats, 61-42 at the Moda Center on Saturday.  Portland couldn't pull out the win despite two kickoff returns for touchdowns from Duane Brooks.  Kyle Rowley made his first start since Week 6, completing only 9-of-21 passes for 75 yards, a TD and two interceptions.  The Thunder are 3-and-6.  They are at the LA Kiss this weekend.

(Commerce City, CO)  --  The Portland Timbers are up to sixth place in the MLS Western Conference, after defeating Colorado, 2-1.  A stoppage time goal by Jack Jewsbury made the difference for visiting Portland.  Gaston Fernandez scored in the 38th minute to put the Timbers on the board.  Portland will host New England Saturday night.
