Lillard Misses Third Straight Game

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers all-star guard Damian Lillard missed his third consecutive game with a right hamstring strain.  He was ruled out about an hour before the start of the game after a workout.

Trail Blazers Beat Sixers, End Home Drought

(Portland, OR)  --  CJ McCollum scored 34 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Sixers 114-110 in Portland.  The Blazers snapped a six-game losing streak at Moda Center as they rallied with a 42-point fourth quarter.  Shabazz Napier [[ Shuh-BAZZ NAY-pier ]] scored 15 of his season-best 23 points in the final quarter.  The Blazers open a three-game trip tomorrow in Atlanta.

Seahawks Face Must-Win In Week 17

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks face a must-win home game Sunday against the Cardinals in the NFL regular season finale.  Seattle needs a win coupled with an Atlanta loss to secure the final NFC Wild Card spot.  Atlanta hosts Carolina in Week 17.  Arizona has been eliminated from playoff contention and will head into play at 7-and-8.

Key Seahawks Questionable For Sunday

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are preparing for the Cardinals without a few key defensive players.  Earl Thomas was a surprise non-participant in yesterday's practice with a knee injury, despite being a full participant in Wednesday's practice.  Bobby Wagner, Michael Bennett, Luke Joeckel and Jimmy Graham have not practiced this week.

Lillard To Return To Blazers' Lineup

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers all-star guard Damian Lillard says he expects to play tonight against Philadelphia.  Lillard missed the past two games with a strained right hamstring.  He practiced yesterday and was not listed on the team's official injury report.
 

Trail Blazers Bid To End Home Skid Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will try to win their first home game in more than a month tonight when they host the Sixers.  The Blazers have lost six straight Moda Center games since a November 18th victory over the Sacramento Kings.  The Blazers went 25-and-16 at home last season.  They are 7-and-10 at home this season.

Kendrick Lamar Dropping New Nike Sneaker

(Beaverton, OR)  --  Kendrick Lamar is dropping a new Nike sneaker soon.   The footwear and apparel company just announced the release date of the Nike Cortez Kenny 1s, one week after the rapper posted a photo of the new red, white and black shoe on his Instagram.  The pair will be available online on Grammy night, January 28th, with a suggested retail price of 100-dollars.  It's the first release from Lamar and Nike since they joined forces in August, right after he left Reebok.

Key Seahawks Sit Out Wednesday Practice

(Renton, WA)  --  Some key players weren't on the practice field yesterday for the Seahawks.  Linebacker Bobby Wagner, defensive end Michael Bennett, tight end Jimmy Graham, offensive lineman Luke Joeckel and defensive tackle Nazir Jones were all non-participants.  They will all be evaluated as the Week 17 preparations continue.
 

Trail Blazers Bid To End Home Skid On Thursday

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will attempt to end a six-game home losing streak when they host the Sixers on Thursday.  The Blazers are 7-and-10 at the Moda Center, but 10-and-6 on the road.  Portland's last home victory was November 18th over the Kings.  The Blazers went 25-and-16 at home last season.  The Blazers assigned first-round pick Caleb Swanigan to the Canton Charge in the NBA G League.  He's averaging 2.6 points in 15 games this season.

Blazers Send Wilcox To G League

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers have shipped two-way guard C.J. Wilcox to the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA developmental G League.  He missed all of training camp with a knee injury and had surgery in October.  Players on two-way contracts do not count against the 15-man NBA roster or against the salary cap.

Seahawks' 2018 Schedule Nearly Set

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks will have home games against Green Bay, Dallas, Kansas City, Minnesota and the LA Chargers next season.  They will have road games in Chicago, Detroit, Denver and Oakland.  They will have home and away games against division rivals Arizona, San Francisco the LA Rams.  The other Seattle game will be at either New Orleans or Carolina, which ever team finishes second in the NFC South.

(Undated)  --  In area college basketball, Oregon State lost 79-78 at Kent State, ending the Beavers' six-game winning streak.  Tres Tinkle and Stephen Thompson Junior each scored 25 points in the loss.  Portland State beat California 106-81 in Berkeley.  Bryce Canda scored 23 points for the Vikings, who had six players in double figures.  Portland State improved to 10-and-3.   Portland University won 80-75 at Sacramento State.  Josh McSwiggan scored 18 points and D'Marques Tyson 17 for the Pilots.  Oregon is off until December 29th when it faces Utah in a Pac-12 opener.

NCAA Alleges Oregon Has Several Violations

(Eugene, OR)  --  The NCAA has alleged Oregon's athletic department has committed several infractions.  The NCAA claims Oregon football, men's and women's basketball and track and field programs have made several major violations.  The university has admitted to some of the findings, but are challenging others.

Seahawks Playoff Scenarios

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seahawks are down, but not out, in the NFC playoff race.  All scenarios require them to win their final two games.  Seattle can still be NFC West champs by winning its final two games and having the Rams lose out.  If that doesn't happen, the Seahawks can earn a Wild Card if the Falcons, Saints, or Panthers lose out plus Detroit loses at least one of its final two games.  ESPN states Seattle has about a 14-percent chance to make the postseason.

Seahawks Fined For Violating Concussion Protocol

(New York, NY)  --  The Seahawks are facing punishment for how they handled concussion protocol during their November 9th game against the Cardinals.  Seattle has been fined 100-thousand dollars for not going through the proper procedure with quarterback Russell Wilson.  They're the first team to be fined over this issue.  The Seahawks are not arguing against the punishment and stated they just didn't know the rule.  Wilson did not wait for officials to look at him in the tent before returning to the sideline after a referee called for him to get checked out.  He went back into the game after one play.

Seahawks Visit Cowboys Sunday

(Arlington, TX)  --  The Seahawks need a win Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive as they visit the Dallas Cowboys.  The loser is eliminated from postseason contention.  Seattle is 8-and-6 after consecutive losses to the Jaguars and Rams.  Dallas is also 8-and-6.

Former Sonic Allen HoF Nominee

(Seattle, WA)  --  Former Seattle SuperSonic Ray Allen highlights the list of 2018 Basketball Hall of Fame nominees.  Allen suited up for Seattle from 2003-to-2007 and averaged 24.6 points in 296  SuperSonic games.  He made four All-Star Games while with Seattle and guided the Sonics to the playoffs once.

College Football Recruiting

(Undated:)  --  Highlights from the first day of the early college football signing period:  Oregon State captured 11 signatures.  Beaverton defensive end Bradley Bicker, West Linn tight end Keishon Dawkins and quarterback Jake Dukart are three-star in-state recruits signing with the Beavers.  Oregon lost seven verbal commitments after coach Willie Taggart left for Florida State.  The Ducks managed to sign 13 players, including four-star Lake Oswego offensive lineman Dawson Jaramillo and Madison athlete MJ Cunningham from the state.  They also got four-star running back Jamal Elliott from Durham, North Carolina and four-star quarterback Tyler Shough from Chandler, Arizona.
 

Timberwolves Fall To Spurs At Home

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trailblazers fell 93-91 to the Spurs at the Moda Center.  The Blazers have lost five consecutive home games.  Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 17 points, but a sore knee hindered him in the second half.  The Blazers have another home game tomorrow night against Denver.

Timbers Home Opener Delayed

(Portland, OR)  --  While the Timbers will open their MLS 2018 season on March 4 at the LA Galaxy, it will be a while before they play a home game.  With Providence Park undergoing construction for stadium expansion, the first game in Portland will not be until April 14th against the Minnesota United.

Ducks Football Recruiting Class Unraveling

(Undated)  --  Three Florida high school four-star recruits who committed to Oregon, have withdrawn their pledges after coach Willie Taggart deserted the Ducks to take the Florida State job.  They are defensive end Malcolm Lamar, cornerback Isaiah Bolden and wide receiver Warren Thompson.  Recruiting services report they are leaning to joining Taggart at Florida State.  In addition, Arizona Western junior college defensive tackle Mohamed Diallo announced on Twitter he has de-committed to Oregon.

Seahawks Make Roster Move

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are shuffling their roster as they head into Week 16.  The team waived LB Kache Palacio, who was promoted from the practice squad last week.  No corresponding move with Seattle's 53-man roster was listed.  The Hawks could be keeping a roster spot open for cornerback DeShawn Shead.  Shead would need to be activated off PUP within the next week in order to be eligible to play this season.  The Seahawks also signed defensive back Alex Carter and defensive end Noble Nwachukwu to the practice squad.

Seahawks Sending Four Players To Pro Bowl

(New York, NY)  --  The Seahawks are sending four players to next month's Pro Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner are making their fourth appearance.  Tight end Jimmy Graham is headed to his fifth and safety Earl Thomas earned his sixth trip.  Wideout Doug Baldwin, defensive end Michael Bennett, strong safety Kam Chancellor, and kick returner Tyler Lockett were named alternates.  The Pro Bowl will be January 28th at Camping World Stadium.

Timberwolves Edge By Blazers

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  Jimmy Butler scored 37 points and made a pair of free throws with 2.5 seconds left to push the Timberwolves to a 108-107 victory over the Trail Blazers in Minneapolis.  Jamal Crawford scored 16 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter as Minnesota rallied from a 10-point deficit with 7:30 left.  CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic each scored 20 points for Portland.  Damian Lillard had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Blazers.  The Blazers return home tomorrow to face the Spurs.  Portland went 3-and-2 on their trip.

Oregon State Hires Defensive Coordinator, Three Other Assistants

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State had hired Wisconsin outside linebacker coach Tim Tibesar to be the defensive coordinator.  Former Oregon State linebacker Trent Bray will be the linebackers coach after spending the past three years on the Nebraska staff.  In addition, the Beavers named two Hawaii assists to the staff.  They are Legi Suiaunoa to coach the defensive line and Kefense Hynson to coach the receivers.

Seahawks Injury Roundup

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks injury issues aren't getting any better as they head into their final two games.  Head coach Pete Carroll says they won't know until tomorrow if running back Chris Carson is ready to begin practicing.  Cornerback DeShawn Shead is still on the PUP list and the team won't know if he can be activated until the end of the week.  Linebackers K.J. Wright and  D.J. Alexander are in the concussion protocol.  Defensive tackle Nazir Jones is also a question mark entering Week 16.

Nike Honors Kobe Bryant's Retirement With Air Force One Release

(Beaverton, OR)  --  Nike is honoring Kobe Bryant's retirement with a special release of merchandise.  The footwear and apparel company released a limited edition set of Air Force Ones, a collection of commemorative t-shirts and two retirement jerseys during last night's Lakers and Golden State Warriors game at the Los Angeles Staples Center.  The shoes feature number eight and number 24, his former numbers with the team, while one of the tees includes a photo of him with his five NBA Championships.

Blazers Playing Magic On Road Today at 4



(Orlando, FL)  --  The Trail Blazers will continue their trip with a game tonight at Orlando. Tip-off at 4:00 o'clock today on KBND. Portland snapped a five-game losing streak on Wednesday, beating the Heat 102-95 in Miami.  The Blazers are 14-and-13.  The Magic are 11-and-18.

College basketball roundup:

(Undated)  --  Elsewhere in area college basketball,  Oregon State will play St. Louis in Portland tomorrow at the Moda Center in the Dam City Classic.  The Beavers are 7-and-3 and aiming for their sixth consecutive victory.  St. Louis is 5-and-5.  The Billikens have won the first two games of this series, but they have not met since 1966.  Portland State will attempt to get back on the winning track when it hosts Linfield tomorrow afternoon.  The Vikings are 8-and-3.  Portland University will play at Seattle tomorrow night.  The Pilots are 4-and-6.

Ducks Cagers On Road Tomorrow

(Fresno, CA)  --  Oregon will play tomorrow afternoon at Fresno State.  The Ducks are coming off a 95-84 home victory over Portland State to improve to 8-and-3.  This will be their first true road game.

Freeman Will Sit Out Oregon's Bowl Game Tomorrow

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Ducks will not have Royce Freeman, who holds several Oregon rushing records, for the Las Vegas Bowl tomorrow against Boise State.  Freeman is projected as an early-round NFL draft pick and does not want to risk being injured.  Oregon is 7-and-5.  Boise State is 10-and-3.  Mario Cristobal will serve in his first game as Oregon's head coach after replacing Willie Taggart, who abandoned the school after one season to take the Florida State coaching job.

Seahawks Host Rams

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seahawks clash with the L.A. Rams on Sunday in a pivotal NFC West matchup.  At 8-and-5, Seattle sits one game behind the 9-and-4 Rams for first in the NFC West.  The Seahawks are 4-and-0 in division play, beating the Rams in Week Five.  Russell Wilson seeks a bounce-back game after three interceptions in the loss in Jacksonville.

High School Football Awards

The prep football season ended two weeks ago but the All-State awards are being handed out, and the Mt. View Cougars who went undefeated until losing in the 5A Semifinals have three players who earned 1st Team honors.

Reed Sehorn-Hurt was named 1st Team Center, and Rylee Ettinger named 1st Team offense and defensive line.

Brady Wessel, a Defensive lineman from Sisters, earned 1st Team All-State honors in the 4A division.

Oregon Dumps Portland State

(Eugene, OR)  --  Elijah Brown scored a team-high 22 points as Oregon dumped Portland State, 95-84, in Eugene.  Troy Brown flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.  Bryce Canda led the Vikings with 31 points.  The Ducks improved to 8-and-3, while the Vikings fell to 8-and-3.

Blazers Comeback To Beat Heat

(Miami, FL)  --  CJ McCollum scored 28 points to help the Trailblazers pull of their 102-95 comeback win over the Heat in Miami.  Portland trailed by as much as 16 points in the game.  Damian Lillard scored nine of his 18 points in the fourth quarter for the Blazers, who outscored the Heat 32-16 in the period.  Portland snapped a five-game skid with the win and will visit Orlando tomorrow.

Timbers Trade Nagbe To Atlanta

(Portland, OR)  -- The Portland Timbers are moving on from fan favorite midfielder Darlington Nagbe.  Portland traded Nagbe to Atlanta United FC on Wednesday for defender Gbenga Arokoyo and just over one-million dollars in allocation money.  Nagbe was the second overall pick of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, and owns the franchise-record for games played with 214.

Oregon Set For Las Vegas Bowl Saturday

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Oregon Ducks continue preparations for the Las Vegas Bowl, which kicks off Saturday.  The 7-and-5 Ducks will face 10-and-3 Boise State, who won the Mountain West Conference.  Mario Cristobal will serve in his first game as Oregon's head coach after replacing Willie Taggart, who left to take the head job at Florida State.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon will host Portland State tonight at the Knight Arena in Eugene.  The Ducks are 7-and-3.  The Vikings have won four straight to improve to 8-and-2.  Oregon leads the all-time series, winning 11 of 13 and the past five matchups. Beavers Escape With One-Point Victory

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State nipped Jacksonville State 70-69 for its fifth straight victory.  Stephen Thompson led the Beavers with 18 points.  Drew Eubanks posted his 11th career double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.  He also blocked two shots late in the game.  The 7-and-3 Beavers will go for their sixth straight win on Saturday when they will play Saint Louis at the Moda Center in the Dam City Classic.

Seahawks Practice For Rams Today

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks hit the practice field today as they get ready for Sunday's showdown with the first-place Rams at Century Link Field.  Seattle is 8-and-5, while LA leads the NFC West at 9-and-4.  Meanwhile, the Seahawks have waived defensive tackle Rodney Coe and promoted Garrison Smith back to the active roster.

Source Reports Savarese Will Be Next Timbers Coach

(Portland, OR)  --  ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman reports the Timbers will name Giovanni Savarese as their next head coach.  Savarese has coached the New York Cosmos the past five seasons in the North American Soccer League.  He would succeed Caleb Porter, who resigned as the Timbers coach last month.

MLB Winter Meetings Continue In Florida, Iwakuma On The Mend

(Lake Buena Vista, FL)  --  The baseball Winter Meetings continue today in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  Manager Scott Servais [[ SIR-viss ]] says pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma [[ he-sash-ee ee-wah-kuma ]] could return as soon as May after right shoulder surgery.  The 36-year-old made just six starts last season.  The Winter Meetings end with the Rule 5 Draft tomorrow.
 

Blazers Fall To Warriors

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Trail Blazers lost 111-104 to the Warriors in Oakland to open a five-game trip.  Damian Lillard led Portland with 39 points, while CJ McCollum had 21.  The Blazers have lost five straight and are 13-and-13 overall.  They will play tomorrow night in Miami.

College Hoops Roundup

(Undated)  --  In college hoops, Oregon State will host Jacksonville State tonight in Corvallis.  The Beavers are 6-and-3.  Jacksonville State is 7-and-2, winning its last three.  Portland State will play tomorrow night at Oregon.  The Vikings are  8-and-2, their best 10-game record in their 22 years in the Big Sky Conference.  Oregon leads the all-time series, winning 11 of 13.  Portland University is off until Saturday when it plays at Seattle.

Ducks Have Trouble With Texas Southern

(Eugene, OR) --  Oregon held off Texas Southern for a 74-68 victory in Eugene.  The Ducks led 48-33 early in the second half, but the Tigers cut that to one-point with 3:32 left.  Payton Pritchard led Oregon with 16 points.  Troy Brown had 12 boards and 10 points.  The Ducks improved to 7-and-3.  Texas Southern is winless in nine games.  Oregon will host Portland State tomorrow night.

Blazers Play Without Two Starters

(Oakland, CA)  --  Center Jusuf Nurkic and forward Moe Harkless missed their second straight  Blazers game with injuries.  Nurkic has a right ankle injury, while Harkless has a left quad issue.  Without the two starters, Portland dropped a 111-104 decision at Golden State.
 

No Suspensions Handed Down For Late-Game Fiasco

(New York, NY)  --  The NFL is not handing down any suspensions to the Seahawks for the altercations in Jacksonville on Sunday.  The Seahawks had two players ejected in the final minute of their loss to the Jaguars after two on-the-field melees.  Quinton Jefferson, tried climbing into the stands after Jacksonville fans threw drinks at him.  Head coach Pete Carroll addressed it with the team and said he is not happy with the way the game ended.
 

Timbers Trade Mattocks

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers traded forward Darren Mattocks to D.C. United for a 2018 international roster spot.  In two seasons with Portland, Mattocks had five goals and five assists in 43 games, making 23 starts.

Seahawks Prep For First Place Showdown

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks continue to chase the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West.  Seattle trails 9-and-4 Los Angeles by one-game and sits just outside of the final NFC wild card spot.  The Seahawks host the Rams this Sunday.  Seattle won the first matchup  16-10 in LA. in Week Five.

Seahawks Injury Updates

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks linebacker situation is unknown as they head into preparations for Week 15.  Both K.J. Wright and Bobby Wagner left Sunday's loss with injuries.  Wagner is dealing with a hamstring and Wright has a concussion.  Running back Mike Davis with a rib injury and his status is also uncertain.  Defensive end Dion Jordan is expected back at practice tomorrow as he recovers from a neck injury.  In other team news, rookie defensive lineman Malik McDowell met with coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider and issued an apology after being arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct at an Atlanta nightclub over the weekend.

Oregon promotes Cristobal to head coach

The Oregon Ducks will promote co-offensive coordinator and interim coach Mario Cristobal to head coach, according to multiple reports Friday.

The deal with the 47-year-old Cristobal was being finalized Friday morning, a source told ESPN.

Cristobal also was the team's run-game coordinator and offensive line coach. He was named interim head coach for the Ducks' bowl game after Willie Taggart left after one season to accept the job at Florida State on Tuesday.

The Ducks went 7-5 this season and will face Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 16.

On Thursday night, Oregon senior left tackle Tyrell Crosby, a
first-team All-Pac-12 selection, tweeted: "Had an 70+ players signed petition to keep Cristobal as head coach. We are all fighting so hard for him to be HC, because we all know he'd fight just as hard for us."

Cristobal joined the Ducks a year ago with Taggart after spending four seasons at Alabama, where he was an assistant head coach and the Crimson Tide's recruiting coordinator.

Cristobal was head coach at Florida International from 2007-12,compiling a 27-47 record in six seasons and taking the Panthers to their first two bowl games.
 

Riley Returning To Oregon State

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Mike Riley has returned to Oregon State.  He was fired as the Nebraska head coach after a 4-and-8 season and a 19-and-19 record in three years.  He left the Beavers after two stints as the head coaching compiling a 93-80 record to take the Cornhuskers job.  He returns as an assistant head coach under Jonathan Smith.

Blazers Conclude Homestand Tomorrow

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will wrap up a four-game homestand tomorrow night when they host the Rockets at the Moda Center.  Portland has lost the first three games of the homestand.  They fell 106-92 to the Wizards on Tuesday to tumble to 7-and-7 at home.  They will open a five-game trip on Monday, beginning at Golden State.  Others stops on the trip will be Miami, Orlando, Charlotte and Minnesota.

Smith Putting Together Staff

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Oregonian has reported Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith will hire Brian Lindgren as his offensive coordinator and Jim Michalczik as the offensive line coach.  Lindgren has been the co-offensive coordinator at Colorado, while Michalczik has been the Arizona line coach.  In addition, former Beavers linebacker Trent Bray, who has been the Nebraska linebackers coach the past three years, will be on the Oregon State staff.

Several Ducks Players Support Cristobal

(Eugene, OR)  --  Several Oregon players are using social media to back offensive coordinator and interim head coach Mario Cristobal to be their next coach.  Cristobal will coach the Ducks in the December 16th Las Vegas Bowl against Boise State.  Oregon is searching for a replacement for Willie Taggart, who jilted the school after less than a year to fill the Florida State vacancy.  Cristobal has head coaching experience at Florida International.  He was an Alabama assistant head coach under Nick Saban from 2013-16.

Oregon Recruits Decommitting

(Eugene, OR)  --  Willie Taggart had put together a top ten recruiting class for 2018 before departing Oregon to become the Florida State coach.  With Taggart's departure, several Ducks top recruits have announced they are reopening the recruiting process.  That includes four-star commitments Braden Lenzy, Isaiah Bolden and Michael Ezeike.  Four-star quarterback recruit Tyler Shough says he is still a Duck, but says he is waiting to see who Oregon will bring in as the head coach.

Taggart Leaving Oregon After One Season

(Eugene, OR)  --  Willie Taggart is leaving after less than a year as the Oregon coach to become the Florida State coach.  Taggart called Florida State his "dream job."  He is a Bradenton, Florida native and coached at South Florida before his one season at Oregon.  Florida State will be Taggart's third stop in less than a year.

Two Blazers Injured

(Portland, OR)  --  Two Blazers left the loss to the Wizards with injuries.  Moe Harkless did not play in the second half with a bruised left quadriceps.  Center Jusuf Nurkic [[ you-SOOF nur-KITCH ]] limped to the trainer's room with 6:28 left with a right ankle injury.
 

Blazers Lose Another Home Game

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers may want to go back on the road.  The Blazers lost 106-92 to the Wizards for their third straight home loss after coming off a 4-and-1 trip.  Portland dropped to 7-and-7 at the Moda Center.   Washington's Bradley Beal scored 51 points, a record for a Blazers' opponent.  Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held the record with 49 points against Portland in 1972.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will host the Wizards tonight .  After a 4-and-1 trip, the Blazers have lost two straight home games and are 7-and-6 at the Moda Center.  The Wizards lost by 47 points last night at Salt Lake City, scoring a season-low 69 points against the Jazz.  Wizards All-Star John Wall has missed the past five games with a left knee injury.  Portland won 108-105 on November 25th in Washington.

Taggart Meets With Florida State Officials

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  Several sources have reported Oregon coach Willie Taggart met with Florida State officials while on a recruiting trip in the Phoenix area.  The Seminoles are in the market for a coach after Jimbo Fisher bolted to take the Texas A&M job.  The "Orlando Sentinel" reported FSU and Taggart's agent were negotiating a contract and is making preparations to have its new coach on campus today.  Taggart is a Florida native and coached South Florida to a 10-and-2 record in 2016.  In his first year at Oregon, the Ducks went 7-and-5.

Taggart Tops Florida State List

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon coach Willie Taggart is the leading candidate to be the next Florida State coach, several sources have reported.  Taggart is a former South Florida coach and a Bradenton, Florida native.  Oregon expects a resolution by today, according to a report from The Oregonian.  Taggart has remained coy with the media about his interest in the Florida State job.

Blazers Home Tomorrow Against Wizards

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will host the Washington Wizards tomorrow night at the Moda Center.  After a 4-and-1 trip, the Blazers have lost two straight home games.  They fell 123-116 to New Orleans on Saturday.  Portland has a 7-and-6 home record.

Oregon Gets Vegas Invite

(Las Vegas, NE)  --  Oregon will play Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 16th.  Oregon is 7-and-5, while Boise State is 10-and-3 after beating Fresno State on Saturday in the Mountain West championship game.  This will be the Ducks' third appearance in the Vegas Bowl.

Seahawks Upend Eagles

(Seattle, WA)  --  Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes as the Seahawks beat the Eagles 24-10 in Seattle.  Seattle is 8-and-4 and snapped the Eagles' nine-game winning streak.  The Seahawks will play next Sunday in Jacksonville.

Ducks, Taggart Play Waiting Game

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon Ducks head coach Willie Taggart is scheduled to address the media today after much speculation on his job status.  Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is expected to take the top job at Texas A&M, and Taggart is his rumored replacement.  The University of Oregon has offered Taggart a new, five-year, 20-million-dollar contract to convince him to stay.  Taggart guided the Ducks to a 7-and-5 record this season and they'll learn their bowl destination on Sunday.

Bucks Hammer Blazers

(Portland, OR)  --  The Blazers trailed by a dozen after the first quarter and couldn't catch up in a 103-91 loss to the Bucks last night in Portland.  Jusuf Nurkic led Portland with 25 points and 11 boards.  Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum combined for 33 points on 14-of-36 shooting in the loss.  The Blazers are 13-and-9 and host New Orleans tomorrow.

(Undated)  --  In college hoops action last night, Portland crushed Multnomah, 112-65.  Tonight, Oregon plays host to Boise State.  The Ducks are 5-and-2.  On tomorrow's schedule, Oregon State faces Loyola Marymount in Corvallis and Portland State hosts Portland Bible.  The Beavers are 3-and-3 while the Vikings are 5-and-2.  The Pilots will visit Boise State on Sunday.  
 

Oregon State Introduces Smith

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State officially introduced new head football coach Jonathan Smith yesterday in Corvallis.  Smith is the first OSU grad to serve as the Beavers' head coach.  Smith had spent the past four seasons as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Washington.  Smith played quarterback at OSU from 1998-through-2001 and guided the Beavers to a 41-9 win over Notre Dame in the 2001 Fiesta Bowl.
