(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon's Aaron Wise has won the NCAA individual golf championship.  The Ducks' sophomore shot a one-over 71 to take the title by two strokes.  Wise finished at five-under for the tournament and became the first Oregon golfer to win the individual crown.  The Ducks are sixth in the team standings as the top eight teams will compete in match play to decide a champion.  Quarterfinals and semifinals will take place today, with the championship round set for Wednesday.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  For the first time since 2008, the Oregon State baseball team will not play in the NCAA tournament.  The Beavers did not get their named called during the tournament selection show Monday after finishing the season 35-and-19.  OSU held an RPI of 44 at the season's end, a rating higher than five teams that did make the tournament.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers get back to work tonight as they welcome the San Jose Earthquakes to Providence Park.  Portland was last in action Saturday, battling to a 1-1 draw against the Chicago Fire on the road.  The Timbers are 4-6-and-4 with 16 points so far this season, good for eighth place in the Western Conference.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  The Steel will try yet again for their first win of the season when they host the Tampa Bay Storm Friday at the Moda Center.  Portland is the only team in Arena football still without a victory, although Tampa Bay has just one.  The Steel last played Saturday in a 54-42 loss to the LA Kiss in Anaheim.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners are back in the win column, earning a 9-3 victory over San Diego.  Starting pitcher Nathan Karns got his fifth win of the season, allowing two runs on eight hits and recording six strikeouts.  Kyle Seager and Dae-Ho Lee got home runs for Seattle.  The Mariners and Padres will play another game in Seattle this afternoon before moving the series to San Diego tomorrow night.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland's Damian Lillard has been named a second team selection on the All-NBA Team.  It is the second time in Lillard's career that he's been named an All-NBA selection.  The Blazers' point guard averaged over 25 points and six assists per game this season.
 

(Bridgeview, IL)  --  The Timbers travel to Illinois to take on the Chicago Fire on Saturday.  Portland is coming off a 4-2 win over Vancouver on Sunday, improving its record to 4-6-and-3.  The Timbers are eighth in the Western Conference with 13 points.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Joey Petschl has been named the director of player personnel at Oregon State University.  Petschl served as an assistant coach at Saint Martin's University for the past two seasons.  He also spent time at the University of Montana as a manager, graduate assistant coach, and director of basketball operations.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The NCAA Golf Championships tee off today at the Eugene Country Club.  The Ducks enter the 30-team field as the 20th-seed.  Twenty-two of the top 25 teams in the country qualified for the tournament.  The team championship will be crowned on Wednesday.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  The Portland Steel will try to earn their first win of the season when they face the LA Kiss tomorrow night at the Honda Center.  Portland is 0-and-7 on the season, having allowed the most points and scored the second-fewest points.  LA is 3-and-4 with a 2-and-2 record at home.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers continue to prepare for their upcoming match against the Chicago Fire on Saturday at Toyota Park.  Portland is coming off a 4-2 win over Vancouver on Sunday.  The Timbers are eighth in the Western Conference with 15 points and a record of 4-6-and-3.  Chicago is last in the Eastern Conference at 2-5-and-4 and 10 points.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey are returning to the Oregon men's basketball team.  Head coach Dana Altman announced yesterday that both players have withdrawn their names from the NBA draft and will be returning to school.  The Ducks set a school record for wins by going 31-and-7 and advanced to the Elite Eight last season.

(Frisco, TX)  --  Darlington Nagbe scored the lone goal of the match as the U.S. Men's National Team defeated Ecuador, 1-nil, at Toyota Stadium.  It was the first-ever international goal for the Timbers' midfielder.  The goal came in the 90th minute to secure the win.  The USMNT will play against Bolivia on Saturday in preparation for the Copa America Centenario, which begins on Friday, June 3rd.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  Ben Johnson has been named an assistant coach for the University of Portland's men's basketball team.  Johnson replaces Mike Burns, who resigned to accept a coaching position at Boise State.  Burns had joined the Pilots' staff last month.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland State University has revealed a new logo and branding package.  The Vikings partnered with Nike to create the new look for their athletic programs.  The new look coincides with a makeover for PSU athletics.  The school is in the process of remodeling the Scott Center and constructing a new Viking Pavilion.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The division-leading Seattle Mariners have another series win on the books, after pounding the Oakland A's, 13-3.  Adam Lind launched two home runs and drove in six runs for the M's, who have won seven of their last nine games.  Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano also homered for the M's.  Seattle will host Minnesota in a three-game series beginning tomorrow night.  
 

(Portland, OR)  --  The Steel continue to search for their first win of the season in preparation for taking on the LA Kiss on Saturday in Anaheim.  Portland is averaging the second-lowest point total per game, while its defense has allowed the most points in the league.  The Steel are 0-and-7 on the year.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon softball is prepping to meet UCLA in a super regional this weekend at Jane Sanders Stadium.  The Bruins took two out of three series from the Ducks this season.  The teams meet at 6:30 PM on Saturday, and against at 4:00 on Sunday.  A third game, if needed, will be played later on Sunday.

(Nashville, TN)  --  Former Oregon Ducks signal-caller Marcus Mariota is entering his second NFL season a littler stronger.  The Tennessee Titans quarterback says he added 15 pounds of muscle during the offseason and now weighs 225 pounds.  Mariota and the Titans began OTAs Tuesday.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Thorns midfielder Tobin Heath is the NWSL Player of the Week.  Heath scored and recorded an assist to  lead Portland to a 4-1 win over the Washington Spirit Saturday.  Heath was named the NWSL Player of the Month for the month of April.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Former Portland Trail Blazers forward Kermit Washington is facing legal issues.  Washington was arrested on a warrant Tuesday in Los Angeles.  Officials won't discuss the arrest, but they have set a news conference today in Kansas City, Missouri.  Washington played three seasons in Portland from 1979-through-1982.

(Washington, DC)  --  Former Oregon State star Jamie Weisner is signing with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA.  Weisner was an All-American and the Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2015-16.  She was originally drafted by the Connecticut Sun, but cut before the season began.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners are maintaining their hold on first place in the AL West after rallying last night to beat Oakland, 6-5.  Seattle got a two-run homer from Robinson Cano in the eighth inning and a two-run walkoff dinger from Leonys Martin in the ninth.  The Mariners and A's will wrap up their three-game series tonight at Safeco Field.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  Tail Blazers star Damian Lillard is releasing his rap track of the offseason.  Lillard debuted the latest track from Dame D.O.L.L.A, which is titled "Talk to Em."  Last summer, Lillard released six songs on Mondays throughout the offseason.  He also released a full-length music video for the song "Bigger Than Us," which premiered on national television in January.
 

(San Francisco, CA)  --  For the second time this season, Oregon State's Travis Eckert is being tabbed the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week.  Eckert earned his sixth win after throwing his first career complete game in the Beavers' 3-1 over USC.  The first hit he surrendered came with two down in the seventh after he retired the first 20 batters he faced.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners continue to struggle at home, getting dealt a 5-0 loss by the Oakland A's.  But Seattle remains in first place in the AL West by a game-and-a-half over Texas.  Starter Taijuan Walker had his fourth loss of the season as the Mariners were unable to score, despite nine hits.  Seattle and Oakland will play again tonight at Safeco Field.

(Montreal, Quebec)  --  Former Oregon Ducks signal-caller Vernon Adams Junior is taking his game to the next level.  Adams has signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.  The BC Lions traded Adams' rights to the Alouettes for a 2017 first-round draft pick on Friday.  Adams transferred to Oregon last year after a prolific career at FCS Eastern Washington.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers' losing skid is over, after a 4-2 win over Cascadia rival Vancouver at Providence Park.  Diego Valeri and Jack McInerny each scored for Portland in the first half of yesterday's match, and the second half included scores by Darlington Nagbe and Dairon Asprilla.  It was the fourth home win of the season for the Timbers.  Portland will visit Chicago Saturday evening.
 

(Jacksonville, FL)  --  The Portland Steel were no match for the Jacksonville Sharks in a 65-34 road loss on Saturday.  Shane Austin threw for 233 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions for Portland, which dropped to 0-and-6.  The Steel host the Tampa Bay Storm Friday.

(Cincinnati, OH)  --  The Seattle Mariners will be back home tonight, after sweeping the Cincinnati Reds.  Robinson Cano drove in two runs and Leonys Martin went four-for-five to help Seattle defeat the Reds yesterday, 5-4.  Wade Miley won his fifth game of the season after allowing four runs on eight hits and recording six strikeouts.  The Mariners will begin a three-game series with Oakland tonight.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State University has signed women's basketball coach Scott Rueck to a two-year contract extension.  Rueck is the most successful coach in program history.  Earlier this year he guided the Beavers to their first-ever Final Four appearance and a number-two program ranking.  Rueck's new contract runs through the 2021-2022 season.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon men's golf team finished in second place at the Tucson Regional to advance to the NCAA Championship.  The Ducks will compete against 22 of the top 25 ranked teams beginning on May 27th at the Eugene Country Club.  Oregon's women's golf team also advanced to the NCAA Championships, which begin on Friday in Eugene.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon baseball coach George Horton earned his 1,000th career win on Tuesday with a 15-4 win over Portland.  Horton is in his eighth season with the Ducks.  Tuesday was also a special day for outfielder Austin Grebeck as he set the single-season record for runs scored.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland State University is in search of a new softball coach.  The school announced yesterday that the contract of head coach Barb Sherwood will not be renewed.  Sherwood was 38-and-106 in her three years with the Vikings.

(Baltimore, MD)  --  The Seattle Mariners remain atop the AL West, despite a 5-2 loss to Baltimore.  Former Mariner Chris Tillman allowed two runs on four hits for the Orioles yesterday to pick up his fifth straight win.  Seattle Starter Taijuan Walker had his third loss of the year, allowing four runs on five hits.  The Mariners and Orioles will wrap up their three-game series later today.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach Jay Triano is reportedly leaving to become the associate head coach for the Phoenix Suns.  Yahoo Sports reports Triano's experience would be a valuable addition to the Suns, whose head coach, Earl Watson, is the NBA's youngest head coach.  Triano joined the Blazers in 2012 after serving as head coach of the Toronto Raptors from 2008 to 2011.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Timbers forward Fanendo Adi's hamstring injury is "not serious."  Timbers head coach Caleb Porter says Adi underwent a scan and it came back clean.  Adi left Sunday's game against New York City FC in the 58th minute after injuring his leg.  He leads the Timbers and is tied for the league-lead in goals with eight over 12 games this season.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers are locking up head coach Terry Stotts.  Portland and Stotts have agreed to a three-year contract extension.  Multiple reports say his deal is worth about five-million dollars per season.  Stotts led the Blazers to a surprising 44-and-38 record after they lost four of their five starters from the season.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Former Oregon Ducks offensive lineman Daniel Cook is at the heart of a concussion lawsuit targeting the Pac-12 and NCAA.  The case suggests the "debilitating long-term dangers of concussions" from generations of college football players.  Cook's suit alleges the conference and NCAA ignored scientific research warning of long-term dangers from head injuries and "did so knowingly and for profit."

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Injured Oregon State second baseman Nick Madrigal is making his way back to the playing field.  The freshman is taking ground balls in practice, but has yet to return to batting practice.  Madrigal exited Oregon State's 7-5 loss against Portland last Tuesday with a left shoulder injury and did not play in the weekend's Civil War series against Oregon

(Baltimore, MD)  --  The Seattle Mariners are back in first place in the AL West after shutting out the Orioles in Baltimore, 10-0.  Kyle Seager had a three-run home run for Seattle, and Nelson Cruz had a two-run homer and five RBI.  Starting pitcher Wade Miley went six innings and gave up two hits to earn the win.  The Mariners and Orioles will play again this evening.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers are inking Amobi Okugo to a contract.  Okugo played last season with Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City SC.  The 25-year-old defender and midfielder had five goals and seven assists in 135 league appearances.

(Portland, OR)  --  A three-year contract extension is intended to keep Terry Stotts the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers through the 2019-20 season.  The Blazers announced the deal yesterday, rewarding Stotts for guiding the team to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.  Portland was initially predicted to fall short of post-season play as it began the season with a roster that was radically different from last season's.  In four seasons as Portland's coach, Stotts has the fifth-highest number of victories in team history.

(Renton, WA)  --  A rookie linebacker is departing Seattle and a veteran is taking his place.  The Seahawks have waived Christian French, an undrafted rookie free agent from Oregon who was injured during a minicamp practice more than a week ago.  He's being replaced by former Saints fourth-round pick Khairi Fortt, who played in three games for Jacksonville in 2014 but didn't play last season.  The "Seattle Times" reports if French clears waivers, he could stay with the Seahawks and be placed on their Injured Reserve list.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Vernon Adams Junior is looking north of the border to possibly further his playing career.  After failing to sign a contract following tryouts with Washington and Seattle, Adams next move may be in the Canadian Football League.  The "Oregonian" reports the British Columbia Lions would likely sign the signal-caller.

(Portland, OR)  --  Multiple sources are reporting that the Memphis Grizzlies have been given permission to interview Nate Tibbetts, the Trail Blazers' assistant coach, for their head coach position.  Tibbetts joined the Blazers staff in 2013.  He's expected to interview with the Grizzlies later this week.
 

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland's Fanendo Adi scored his league-leading eighth goal of the season but it wasn't enough as the Timbers fell to New York City FC, 2-1, at Providence Park.  David Villa gave NYC a 1-nil lead at the half.  The Timbers rallied to tie it with Adi's equalizer 10 minutes into the second half.  Thomas McNamara scored the game-winner for New York in the 65th minute.  The Timbers fell to 3-6-and-3.  Portland will host Vancouver on Sunday afternoon at Providence Park.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The University of Oregon's softball team has been awarded the fifth overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.  The Ducks will play Fordham on Friday with the winner advancing to face the winner of Long Beach State and Baylor.  Oregon won its fourth-straight Pac-12 title this season.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The University of Oregon's men's and women's track and field teams swept the Pac-12 Championships in Seattle.  The men's team won their 10th straight title, while the women locked down their eighth straight championship.  The teams will next compete in the first round of the NCAA Championships in Lawrence, Kansas, on May 26th to 28th.

(Cleveland, OH)  --  The Portland Steel will be in search of their first win of the season when they take on the Cleveland Gladiators tonight at Quicken Loans Arena.  Portland is coming off a 66-27 loss to the LA Kiss.  The Steel are 0-and-5 on the year.  Cleveland is 2-and-5.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners will hit the road tomorrow, after being swept at home by the Los Angeles Angels.  Felix Hernandez lost his third game of the season yesterday as the Angels earned a 3-0 win.  The Mariners were only able to collect two hits in the contest and slipped to second place in the AL West.  Seattle will begin a three-game series tomorrow evening in Baltimore.

(Tualatin, OR)  --  Following their second round exit in Game Five Wednesday night, the Trail Blazers are packing up for the offseason.  Blazers players, coaches and management collected their things at their practice facility to head off for the summer.  After replacing four starters, Portland went 44-and-38 and beat the Clippers in the first round before bowing out to Golden State.

(Tualatin, OR)  --  Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts says his team's season, even though it ended earlier than hoped, was a special one.  Stotts says his players displayed good character and he was happy with what they were able to do individually and collectively.  The Blazers, who were picked by many sports pundits before the season to not make the playoffs, made it into the Western Conference semifinal round, where they lost to Golden State, three games to one.  Guard C.J. McCollum says the Blazers are "on the doorstep of becoming an elite team."

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers are back home to host New York City FC Sunday in their next match.  The reigning MLS champions dropped to 3-5-and-3 with a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas on Wednesday.  Opening kick from Providence Park at 4:30 on Sunday.

(Beaverton, OR)  --  Portland Thorns star Tobin Heath is out tomorrow when the team renews its rivalry with the Seattle Reign.  Heath was ejected from the Washington Spirit match after garnering two yellow cards and as a result, is suspended for the match.  The Thorns are 2-0-and-2, while the Reign are 2-2-and-0 overall.  Heath has assisted on every goal the Thorns have scored this season.
 

(Eugene, OR)  --  Swingman Elgin Cook is withdrawing from the NBA Draft and returning to University of Oregon.  ESPN reports Cook withdrew from the NBA Combine and is heading back to Eugene.  He was First-Team All-Pac-12 last season averaging 14.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists and helping the Ducks to the Elite Eight.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Steel are seeking their first Arena Football League victory this season.  The 0-and-5 Steel visit the 2-and-4 Cleveland Gladiators on Monday.  After having a home game moved to Anaheim, this is the second of a four-game road trip for Portland.

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers are done for the season, after taking the fight to the Golden State Warriors on their home court.  Golden State prevailed, 125-121, to win the Western Conference semifinal series, three games to one.  Damian Lillard finished with 28 points and seven assists, and C.J. McCollum scored 27 points.  Head coach Terry Stotts says his Blazers enjoyed a successful season because of their "character and work ethic."

(Oakland, CA)  --  The defending-champion Warriors are going back to the Western Conference finals.  It took another monster second half from Stephen Curry to push Golden State past the Trail Blazers, 125-121, at ORACLE Arena in Game Five of the semifinals.  Curry scored 22 of his 29 points after halftime.  Klay Thompson paced the Warriors with 33 as they won the best-of-seven series 4-to-1.  Portland put up a valiant fight as C.J. McCollum tallied 27 points, eight rebounds and five assists.  Damian Lillard added 28, seven helpers and seven boards in the loss.

(Dallas, TX)  --  The Timbers dropped a tough road match to Dallas, 2-1, at Toyota Stadium.  Portland took a one-nil halftime lead thanks to a goal by Diego Valeri [[ VA-lehr-ee ]], but Dallas scored twice in the second half to rally for the win.  Portland drops to 3-5-and-3 with the loss.  The Timbers return home to face New York City at Providence Park on Sunday afternoon.

(Norman, OK)  --  The Oregon tennis team will take on Tulsa tomorrow in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Norman, Oklahoma.  The 38th-ranked Ducks will face the number-23 Golden Hurricane in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.  Oregon enters the tourney with a record of 18-and-7, while Tulsa is 17-and-13.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State University is introducing a new ticketing system that will encourage alumni to reconnect with the university.  "Squad" allows OSU alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years to purchase a monthly pass that allows them to attend unlimited sporting events at Oregon State.  The monthly pass costs 19.99 and will be limited to 300 memberships during the initial phase of the program.

(Portland, OR)  --   PSU's Meagan Hendrix, Shae Nelson and Candice Orozco have been named to the Big Sky All-Conference team.  The three Portland State softball players each earned honorable mention status.  The Vikings face Idaho State this afternoon in the Big Sky Conference Tournament in Ogden, Utah.

(Renton, WA)  --  Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, who suffered a serious neck injury in a game last November, is slated to announce his retirement later today.  The Seahawks acquired Lockette as an undrafted free agent in 2011 and he was released at the beginning of the 2012 season.  He rejoined the Seahawks in 2013, and caught 20 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns in 32 games since then.  Lockette is scheduled to make his announcement at a one o'clock news conference this afternoon.

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers try and stave off elimination tonight at the Golden State Warriors.  The Warriors took a commanding 3-1 series lead Monday night behind 17 points in overtime from NBA MVP Steph Curry.  Pre-game at 6:35. Tip from Oakland at 7:30.

(Portland, OR)  --  Following a shocking overtime performance from Warriors guard Steph Curry, Blazers owner Paul Allen is going viral.  Several internet memes of Allen surfaced of the surprised owner when Curry drained another shot to ice the victory for Golden State.  Allen even received the "Crying Jordan" treatment, where an infamous picture of Michael Jordan crying is photo shopped into various photos.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners have another series win under their belts, after a 6-4 defeat of Tampa Bay.  Franklin Gutierrez and Dae-Ho Lee hit home runs to help the Mariners maintain their hold on first place in the AL West.  Wade Miley allowed four runs on four hits and struck out six to pick up the win.  The Mariners and Rays will wrap up the series this afternoon at Safeco Field.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Former Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams Junior continues to try and get an NFL shot.  After trying out with the Seattle Seahawks, Adams is trying out for the Washington Redskins this week.  He did not receive a contract offer from the Seahawks following the audition.

(Portland, OR)  --  Stephen Curry didn't start the game, but he finished it as the Warriors pulled past the Trail Blazers, 132-125, in overtime of Game Four at the Moda Center.  Curry tallied 40 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as the Warriors take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.  Damian Lillard piled up 36 points in the setback.  Game Five is in Oakland tomorrow.
 

(Anaheim, CA)  --  The Portland Steel remain winless following a 66-27 loss at the Los Angeles Kiss.  The Steel are now 0-and-5.  Portland visits the Cleveland Gladiators on May 16th.

(Dallas, TX)  --  The defending MLS champion Portland Timbers continue their season tomorrow night on the road at FC Dallas.  Portland fell to 3-4-and-3 with a 2-1 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps Saturday.  The team is seeking its first road win of the season.  Dallas is 5-4-and-2 overall.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Felix Hernandez is now the Mariners' career leader in wins, after earning a 5-2 victory over Tampa Bay.  Hernandez allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings to pick up the 146th win of his career.  Ketel Marte launched a three-run home run in the sixth inning for Seattle.  The Mariners will play the Rays again tonight at Safeco Field.

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard scored a playoff-best 40 points and dished out 10 assists to lead the Trail Blazers past the Warriors, 120-108, in Game Three of the Western Conference semifinals on Saturday.  Al-Farouq Aminu posted 23 points and 10 boards while C.J. McCollum added 22 points for the Blazers, who tightened up the series at two-games-to-one.  Game Four is tonight at the Moda Center in Portland.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon women's golf team has advanced to the 2016 NCAA Division One Women's Golf Championships.  The 24-team tournament will be held from May 20th to May 25th at the Eugene Country Club.  The University of Oregon will serve as the host school.

(Vancouver, BC)  --  Vancouver scored twice in the second half to down the Timbers, 2-1, at BC Place on Saturday.  Nat Borchers scored his first goal of the season as the Timbers jumped out to a 1-nil halftime lead before the Whitecaps rallied for the win.  Portland is 3-4-and-3 on the season with 12 points.  The Timbers face Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Wednesday.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland State softball team has secured a berth in the Big Sky Conference Softball Championships.  The sixth-seeded Vikings will face third-seeded Idaho State on Thursday with the winner advancing to face second-seeded Sacramento State.  The tournament is being hosted by Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  The Portland Steel will be seeking their first win of the season when they take on the LA Kiss tonight at the Honda Center in Anaheim.  The game was originally slated for this past Saturday at the Moda Center but had to be moved due to a scheduling conflict with the NBA playoffs.  Portland is 0-and-4 on the season.  LA is 2-and-3, including a home record of 1-and-2.

(Houston, TX)  --  The Seattle Mariners have a half-game lead atop the AL West, after splitting their four-game series with Houston.  The Astros prevailed yesterday, 5-1, despite Robinson Cano hitting his 12th homer of the year for Seattle.  Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out eight in five innings.  Seattle will host Tampa Bay to start a three-game series tonight.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will be looking to avoid a three-nothing series deficit when they face the Warriors tomorrow night at the Moda Center.  Portland missed out on a golden opportunity to even the series when it floundered a double-digit fourth quarter lead in Game Two of the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday.  Warriors guard Stephen Curry is unlikely to play in Game Three.

(Portland, OR)  --  Fanendo Adi has been named the Etihad Airways Player of the Month.  Adi scored three goals and dished out an assist over a five-game span in April.  He's tied for the league-lead with seven goals.  The Timbers take on Vancouver tomorrow afternoon at BC Place.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Ronnie Stacy, a junior college transfer from Tyler Junior College in Texas, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Oregon State men's basketball team.  Stacy averaged over eight points, five assists, and two rebounds per game as a sophomore guard for the Apache.  The Beavers finished last season with a record of 19-and-13.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Steel will be searching for their first win of the season when they travel to Anaheim to take on the LA Kiss at the Honda Center on Monday.  The game was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday at the Moda Center but had to be moved due to a conflict with the Trail Blazers playoff series against the Warriors.  The Steel are 0-and-4 on the year and are coming off a 68-21 loss at Arizona on Saturday.

(Renton, WA)  --  Marshawn Lynch's retirement from the Seattle Seahawks is official.  The team says the star running back has been placed on the reserve/retired list.  SeattlePI.com says it's not clear whether he's submitted his retirement papers to the NFL.  Lynch, who's 30-years-old, made his intention to retire known, via Twitter, during the Super Bowl on February 7th, but had not submitted his retirement paperwork as of last week.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Tickets for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be available starting tomorrow morning.  Oregon's historic Hayward Field will be hosting the event from June 8th to 11th.  The men's championship will be determined on June 10th, and the women's title will be decided the following day.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Cheridan Hawkins is the new all time wins leader in Oregon softball history.  The senior pitcher secured her 101st career victory on Tuesday, breaking the previous mark set by Jessica Moore.  The Ducks can clinch their fourth straight Pac-12 title this weekend with a three-game sweep of Cal.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Dae-Ho Lee's two-run homer in the seventh inning lifted the Mariners to a wild 9-8 win over the A's in Oakland.  Lee earlier hit a solo shot and Nelson Cruz connected for a two-run blast as Seattle swept the three-game series.  The M's lead the AL West at 16-and-11.

(Renton, WA)  --  Former starting center Drew Nowak is among five players who have been waived by the Seattle Seahawks.  Nowak started seven games at center last season before Patrick Lewis took over the job.  Also gone from the team are running back Cameron Marshall, tight end Ronnie Shields, defensive end Josh Shirley, and receiver Tyler Slavin.  The Seahawks made the moves to make room on the roster for players drafted and signed as undrafted free agents last week.

LOS ANGELES (AP) Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott
says he thought he had more time to right the ship before the team
fired him last week.

Scott tells ESPN he was ''surprised'' and ''shocked'' by the move
even though he led the Lakers to the two worst seasons in their
history, including this season's franchise-worst 17-65 mark.

In an interview broadcast Wednesday on ESPN's ''The Jump with
Rachel Nichols,'' Scott explained that Lakers brass had told him a
few years ago that a long-term rebuilding process was needed for
the team. He says he figured he had at least another year to turn
things around when he was suddenly let go.

The former Lakers player says he'll continue to root for the team
and offered a vote of confidence for new coach Luke Walton.

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Warriors erased a 17-point first half deficit on their way to a 110-99 win against the Trail Blazers in Game Two of the Western Conference semifinals at ORACLE Arena.  Golden State outscored Portland 34-12 in the fourth quarter to grab a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven set.  Damian Lillard hit six threes and tallied 25 points.  Game Three is at the Moda Center on Saturday.

(Beaverton, OR)  --  Portland Timbers goalkeeper Jake Gleeson is the MLS Player of the Week.  He earns the honor from his performance in Portland's 2-1 over Toronto FC Sunday.  Next up, the Timbers will face Cascadia-rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Saturday.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Thorns defender Kat Williamson is on the road to recovery.  Williamson underwent meniscus surgery last week and could miss the next six weeks as she recovers from the injury.  She left the Thorns' April 23rd game against FC Kansas City.

(Portland, OR)  --  The NBA Playoffs are forcing the Arena Football game between the Portland Steel and LA Kiss to move.  Game Three of the Trail Blazers series with the Golden State Warriors has the Steel and Kiss squaring off in Anaheim instead of the Moda Center.  The game will be played on Monday instead of Saturday as well.
 

(Oakland, CA) -- Kyle Seager hammered a three-run shot in the eighth to put away an 8-2 win for the Mariners over the Athletics in Oakland.  Robinson Cano and Leonys Martin also went deep as Seattle won for the fourth time in five games.  Hisashi Iwakuma took a shutout into the sixth inning to grab his first victory of the season.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Draymond Green and Klay Thompson each had monster games as the Warriors dumped the Trail Blazers, 118-106, in the Western Conference semifinals from Oakland.  Thompson scored 37 points, and Green had a triple-double, finishing with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.  Damian Lillard led Portland with 30 points.  Allen Crabbe scored 15 off the bench for the Blazers.  Game Two tips off from Oakland tomorrow night.

(Portland, OR)  --  Diego Valeri celebrated his 30th birthday by tallying a goal and an assist as the Timbers defeated Toronto, 2-1, at Providence Park yesterday afternoon.  Fanendo Adi found the net for Portland in the 17th minute with his seventh goal of the season.  Will Johnson tied it at one late in the first half for Toronto.  Valeri's goal in the 74th minute secured the win for the Timbers.  Portland improved to 3-3-and-3 with the win.  The Timbers will face the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday afternoon at BC Place.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State's Isaac Seumalo was chosen in the third round by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2016 NFL Draft.  Seumalo, an offensive lineman, was named a Pac-12 All-Conference selection three times for the Beavers.  Oregon State opens the regular season on Thursday, September 1st at the University of Minnesota.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The University of Oregon had two players selected in the 2016 NFL Draft.  Defensive end DeForest Buckner was selected with the seventh overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers.  Linebacker Joe Walker was selected in the seventh round by the Philadelphia Eagles.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon football team held its annual spring game at Autzen Stadium on Saturday.  "Mighty Oregon" defeated the "Webfoots" by a score of 21-20.  Dakota Prukop, the graduate transfer quarterback from Montana State, led "Mighty Oregon" to the win in front of over 35,000 fans.  Prukop was 20-of-29 for 190 yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to freshman receiver Dillon Mitchell.  The Ducks open the regular season on Saturday, September 3rd against UC Davis.
