(Orlando, FL)  --  The 2020 NBA Finals tip off tonight in Orlando as the Los Angeles Lakers meet the Miami Heat.  The Lakers are chasing their 17th championship in franchise history, and LeBron James is appearing in his ninth Finals in the past 10 years.  The Lakers dispatched Portland, Houston and Denver in five games each to advance.  They went 2-and-0 against Miami in the regular season.

(Undated)  --  In NFL action on Sunday, the 2-and-1 Rams are at home against the winless Giants.  The 2-and-1 Niners defend home field against the Eagles, who are fresh off a tie with the Bengals.  The Chargers hit the road to face Tom Brady and the Bucs and hope to end a two-game slide.  The Las Vegas Raiders will host the undefeated Bills at Allegiant Stadium.

(Oakland, CA)  --  The White Sox hit three home runs to power past the Athletics 4-1 in Game One of their AL wild card series in Oakland.  Ramon Laureano drove in the lone A's run in the eighth.  Jesus Luzardo gave up three runs over three-and-a-third innings for Oakland, which must win the next two games to avoid elimination.  Chris Bassitt gets the start for the A's today while the White Sox counter with Dallas Keuchel.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The top-seeded Dodgers are at home tonight for Game One of their National League wild card series against the Brewers.  Los Angeles will send Walker Buehler to the mound, while Milwaukee counters with Brent Suter.  The Dodgers led the majors with a 43-and-17 record and a whopping plus-136 run differential.

(Nashville, TN)  --  The Titans are shutting down their facility until Saturday after a coronavirus outbreak.  The NFL says three players and five personnel members tested positive.  The Vikings also closed their facility after playing Tennessee, but had no new cases as of yesterday. 

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers are gearing up for a weekend home game.  The Timbers will host the Rapids at Providence Park on Saturday.  Portland has not lost since a September 13th matchup against LAFC.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Dodgers seek their first World Series title since 1988 as they host the Milwaukee Brewers tomorrow in Los Angeles.  The entire best-of-three series will be played at Dodger Stadium.  Walker Buehler is scheduled to start for L.A. 

(Oakland, CA)  --  The MLB postseason begins today as the A's host the White Sox in the Wild Card round.  The entire best-of-three series will be played in Oakland.  The A's will send out Jesus Luzardo, while Chicago counters with Lucas Giolito.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Los Angeles Lakers begin the final stage of a championship quest tomorrow in Orlando.  LeBron James, Anthony Davis and company will attempt to secure the 17th championship in franchise history the Lakers face the Miami Heat in Game One.  Former Lakers coach Pat Riley is now team president for Miami. 

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Clippers head coach Doc Rivers is out of a job in Los Angeles.  The team mutually parted ways with Rivers on Monday after seven seasons at the help.  The Clippers fell short of expectations when they were eliminated in the second round by the Denver Nuggets earlier this month inside the bubble in Orlando.  Multiple reports state the 76ers and the Pelicans have already reached out to Rivers about their openings.

(East Rutherford, NJ)  --  Nick Mullens threw for 343 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured Jimmy Garoppolo, as the 49ers crushed the Giants 36-9 at the Meadowlands.  Jerick McKinnon, rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and Jeff Wilson all had rushing touchdowns for San Francisco, which moved to 2-and-1 with its second straight win.  The Niners host the Eagles in Week Four.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The 2020 NBA Finals matchup is set.  The Los Angeles Lakers will clash with the Miami Heat for the Larry O'Brien Trophy beginning Wednesday at the NBA bubble in Orlando.  The Heat won the Eastern Conference finals by beating Boston 125-113 in Game Six on Sunday.  The Lakers eliminated the Nuggets on Saturday to advance in the West.  Lakers star LeBron James is making his 10th Finals appearance and is chasing his fourth championship.  Miami is back in the Finals for the first time since James led the Heat there in four straight seasons from 2011-to-2014.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers are celebrating a weekend win.  The Timbers silenced the Whitecaps 1-0 at Providence Park.  Felipe Mora gave Portland the early lead in the fifth minute.  Portland is currently second in the West with 24 points.

(Orchard Park, NY)  --  Josh Allen found Tyler Kroft for the go-ahead touchdown with 15 seconds left as the Bills dropped the Rams 35-32 in Buffalo.  The Rams erased a 25-point deficit, but couldn't steal the win.  Jared Goff threw for 321 yards, two TDs and a pick for LA, which fell to 2-and-1.  Darrell Henderson rushed for 114 yards and a score in the setback.  The Rams return home to host the Giants in Week Four.

(Inglewood, CA)  --  The Chargers fell short of a comeback in a 21-16 loss to the Panthers at SoFi Stadium.  Rookie quarterback Justin Herbert passed for 330 yards, a touchdown and an interception for LA.  Keenan Allen hauled in 13 passes for 132 yards and a score.  The Bolts ran a hook-and-ladder on the final play that could have won the game, but an Austin Ekeler fumble ended the rally.  The Bolts are 1-and-2 and visit the Buccaneers in Week Four.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Jake Lamb's solo homer in the seventh snapped a 2-all tie as the A's dropped the Mariners 6-2 in Oakland.  Mark Canha added a two-run double in the frame and finished with four RBI for the A's.  Frankie Montas struck out 13 over six innings, but Yusmeiro Petit got the win.  The A's clinched the second seed in the AL playoffs and will face the White Sox in the first round. 

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  A.J. Pollock homered twice as the Dodgers dropped the Angels 5-0 in the regular-season finale in Los Angeles.  Pollock hit a solo shot in the first and a two-run blast in the seventh.  Dustin May and five relievers combined on a three-hitter, with May getting the win and the Dodgers a three-game sweep.  They are the top seed in the National League playoffs and will face Milwaukee in the first round.  Patrick Sandoval took the loss for the Halos, who finished Joe Maddon's first season 26-and-34.  General Manager Billy Eppler was fired on Sunday after five seasons in charge.

(San Diego, CA)  --  The San Francisco Giants will not be going to the playoffs this season.  The Giants fell to the Padres 5-4 in the season-ending loss.  A win would have given San Francisco the eighth-seed over Milwaukee.  The Giants homered three times and Drew Smyly struck out 10, but they couldn't escape San Diego and finishes the season at 29-and-31.  The Giants lost their final three games to end the year.

(Orlando, FL)  --  Anthony Davis dropped 34 points as the Lakers held off the Nuggets to win 114-108 in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals in Orlando.  LeBron James added 26 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.  The Lakers lead 3-1 in the series.  Game Five is tomorrow.  Los Angeles is one victory away from returning to the Finals for the first time in a decade. 

(Undated)  --  The Pac-12 has approved a seven-game football schedule starting on November 6th.  The Pac-12 CEO group voted yesterday to reverse its earlier decision that they would postpone all fall sports until at least January 1st.  Men's and women's basketball will start on November 25th and all other sports will be permitted to start on time.  Commissioner Larry Scott says their plan was always to follow advice from medical experts and they deem it safe to play now.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Trevor Cahill gave up a run on a sac-fly in the 11th inning as the Giants lost 5-4 to the Rockies at Oracle Park.  Brandon Belt homered in the eighth to tie it.  Brandon Crawford hit an RBI single, while Joey Bart scored on a wild pitch for San Francisco, which drops to 28-and-28.  The Giants begin their final regular season series tonight against the Padres.  They're currently hanging on to the second NL wild card spot.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Corey Seager drove in two runs on a home run and sac-fly as the Dodgers cruised past the A's 5-1 at Dodger Stadium.  Dylan Floro pitched a perfect inning of relief to get the win for LA, which is a major-league best 40-and-17.  The Dodgers host the Angels tonight.  Sean Murphy drove in the lone run for Oakland, which dips to 34-and-22 and hosts the Mariners tonight.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Ty France was 2-for-4 with two RBI as the Mariners clipped the Astros 3-2 at T-Mobile Park.  Kyle Seager drove in the other run on a double.  Nick Margevicius gave up just three hits over six innings to get the win for Seattle, which is 3-and-3 in its last six games to land at 25-and-31.  The Mariners have been eliminated from postseason play and begin their final regular season series against the A's in Oakland tomorrow.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers shut out the Sounders 1-0 at Providence Park.  Yimmi Chara scored in the 13th minute for Portland, .  The Timbers moved into second in the West with 21 points in 13 matches, while Seattle remains in first, also with 21 points but in 12 games.  On Sunday, the Timbers will visit the Whitecaps while the Sounders will visit the LA Galaxy.

(Undated)  --  The Pac-12 Conference will hold a vote today on whether to reinstate the football season.  The chancellors and presidents will decide on the matter today.  The Big Ten, who also initially canceled football along with the Pac-12, voted last week to change courses and play this fall.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Ramon Laureano nailed the go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth as the A's outlasted the Dodgers 6-4 in L.A.  Sean Manaea worked six innings and Jake Diekman got the win for the A's.  Oakland blew a 3-0 first inning lead.  Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy, and Edwin Rios went deep for the Dodgers.  Blake Treinen took the loss.  The series finale is tonight.

(San Diego, CA)  --  Shohei Ohtani, Justin Upton and Anthony Bemboom all homered in a four-run second inning as the Angels cruised past the Padres 5-2 in San Diego.  David Fletcher added three hits and an RBI for the Halos, who swept the two-game series and have won three straight overall.  Patrick Sandoval picked up the win and Felix Pena posted his second save.  The Halos have won six-of-seven.  They're off today before closing the regular season with a three-game road series with the Dodgers.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Mauricio Dubon clubbed the go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth inning as the Giants slipped past the Rockies 7-2 in San Francisco.  Dubon's blast broke a two-all tie.  Evan Longoria also homered for the Giants and Logan Webb earned the win.  The 28-and-27 Giants are currently the seventh seed in the NL playoffs.  The series wraps up this afternoon.

(Orlando, FL)  --  Jamal Murray and Jerami Grant led the charge as the Nuggets knocked off the Lakers 114-106 in Game Three of the Western Conference finals in Orlando.  LeBron James notched a 30-point triple-double for L.A. in defeat.  Anthony Davis scored 27 for the Lakers, who shot just 6-of-26 from deep.  Game Four is tomorrow.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Casey Sadler gave up four runs over one-and-a-third as the Mariners were crushed by the Astros 6-1 at T-Mobile Park.  Kyle Seager hit a double in the first to drive in the lone run for Seattle, which has split its last four games to land at 24-and-31.  The Mariners host the Astros again today.  They'll begin their final regular season series Friday against the A's. 

(Undated)  --  The NCAA Division I Board of Directors has approved a plan to move fall sports championships to next spring.  This will include the FCS Championship, cross country, soccer, field hockey, women's volleyball and men's water polo.  The approval includes reduced bracket sizes.  The NCAA says this is subject to pandemic conditions in the spring.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Dodgers homered four times as they dropped the A's 7-2 in L.A.  With the win, the Dodgers clinched the top seed in the National League playoffs as well as the NL West division title.  A.J. Pollock, Corey Seager, Chris Taylor and Max Muncy left the yard for L.A. Dustin May got the win while Frankie Montas took the loss for Oakland. Robbie Grossman homered in defeat as the series resumes tonight in L.A.

(Undated)  --  The 2020-21 NBA season likely will not start until after the new year.  Commissioner Adam Silver tells Bob Costas in a CNN interview that his best guess is January.  He says the goal is a standard 82-game regular season and playoffs.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers have created a Racial Injustice Fund, and they've seeded it with 200-thousand dollars.  The team is asking fans to help by making their own donations.  The money is being used to fund local and national organizations fighting for racial justice and police reform.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Alex Dickerson launched the go-ahead home run in the seventh as the Giants topped the Rockies 5-2 in San Francisco.  Brandon Belt padded the lead with a two-run double and Tyler Rogers came away with the win.  The Giants are still in the playoff hunt at 27-and-27 as they host the Rockies again tonight.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Evan White hit a three-run home run as the Mariners rolled past the Astros 6-1 at T-Mobile Park.  Ty France hit an RBI double and Kyle Seager drove in two runs on single.  Marco Gonzales pitched eight scoreless innings, striking out six to get the win for Seattle, which has won two-of-three to get to 24-and-30.  The Mariners host the Astros again tonight.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers will face off against the Seattle Sounders tomorrow night at Providence Park.  Seattle is first in the West with 21 points while Portland is fifth with 18 points.  The Timbers are coming off a 6-1 win over the Earthquakes this past weekend.

(Charlotte, NC)  --  NBA legend and Hornets owner Michael Jordan is forming a new NASCAR team.  Jordan is teaming up with three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin and named Bubba Wallace as the driver.  The team will compete in the NASCAR Cup Series starting next season.  Jordan will be the owner of the team and Hamlin will maintain a minority stake while continuing to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing.

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Dodgers are home tonight as they host the Oakland A's.  L.A. sits first in the NL West at 38-and-16 and is four games ahead of San Diego.  Oakland arrives at 33-aned-20 and locked up the AL West title last night after the Astros lost.  The A's hadn't won their division since 2013.

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Raiders were victorious in their Las Vegas debut as they rocked the Saints 34-24 at brand-new Allegiant Stadium.  Derek Carr passed for 282 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders moved to 2-and-0.  Darrin Waller hauled in 12 passes for 103 yards and a TD.  Alvin Kamara totaled 174 yards from scrimmage with two scores for New Orleans.

(Orlando, FL)  --  Anthony Davis nailed the go-ahead three-pointer at the buzzer as the Lakers beat the Nuggets 105-103 in Game Two of the Western Conference finals in Orlando.  The Lakers blew a 16-point lead and trailed by one before Davis won it on the final possession.  He scored LA's final 10 points and finished with 31.  LeBron James recorded 26 points and 11 rebounds as the Lakers take a 2-0 series lead.  Game Three is tomorrow.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers are celebrating a major win over the Earthquakes.  The Timbers blew out the Earthquakes 6-1 in San Jose on Saturday.  Diego Valerie scored twice for Portland.  The Timbers and Sounders will face off on Wednesday at Providence Park.  Seattle is first in the West with 21 points while Portland is fifth with 18 points.

(East Rutherford, NJ)  --  The 49ers suffered numerous injuries in a 31-13 win over the Jets in East Rutherford.  Jimmy Garoppolo passed for two first half toucvhdowns before leaving at halftime with an ankle injury.  Raheem Mostert had an 80-yard touchdown run on the Niners' first play from scrimmage, but left with an injury along with Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas and Tevin Coleman.  Bosa reportedly tore his ACL.  San Francisco evened its record at 1-and-1 and is back in town to face the Giants in Week Three.

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Jared Goff threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns as the Rams spoiled the Eagles' home opener with a 37-19 win in Philadelphia.  Tyler Higbee had all three TD catches for Los Angeles, which is off to a 2-and-0 start to the season.  Darrell Henderson Jr. and Robert Woods both had rushing scores in the win.  The Rams host the Panthers in Week Three.

(Denver, CO)  --  Antonio Senzatela kept the Dodgers in check as the Rockies won 6-3 in Denver.  Edwin Rios and AJ Pollock had run-scoring singles in the loss for LA.  Tony Gosolin was the tough luck loser, giving up two runs on three hits over five while striking out ten.  The Dodgers are off today before hosting the A's tomorrow.

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Las Vegas Raiders debut the new Allegiant Stadium tonight as they host the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.  The 1-and-0 Raiders will look to score a win in their first game as the 1-and-0 Saints come to town.  No fans will be permitted to attend.

(Inglewood, CA)  --  The reigning champion Chiefs needed overtime to earn a 23-20 win against the Chargers at brand new SoFi Stadium.  Harrison Butker nailed the tying field goal on the final play of regulation before hitting the winning kick from 58 yards with 1:55 left in OT.  Rookie first-round pick Justin Herbert got the surprise start at quarterback affter Tyrod Taylor was injured in warmups.  He threw for 311 yards, one touchdown and one interception and rushed for a score in his NFL debut.  The Bolts fell to 1-and-1.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Kyle Cody gave up just one run over five innings to earn his first career win as the Rangers cruised past the Angels 7-2 in Anaheim.  Taylor Ward and Shohei Ohtani drove in runs for the Angels.  Julio Teheran gave up three runs in an inning to take the loss for Los Angeles, which had a three-game win streak snapped.  The Halos host the Rangers today.

(Undated)  --  In MLS action, the Sounders host LAFC tonight, although the poor air quality in Seattle could impact the match.  Seattle is second in the West with 18 points. The Timbers will rematch with the Earthquakes tomorrow in San Jose after they played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.  Portland is seventh with 15 points.

(Undated)  --  The Pac-12 is reportedly aiming to begin the football season on October 31st after previously deciding to postpone all fall sports until at least next year.  The conference athletic directors say Halloween is their preferred date and just need approval from the presidents and chancellors, who are meeting today.  Commissioner Larry Scott says he doesn't expect any decisions to be made today, but they will discuss a possible start.  The conference's biggest obstacles are California and Oregon's local health restrictions.

(Denver, CO)  --  The Dodgers piled up six runs runs in the seventh inning as they took down the Rockies 9-3 in Denver.  Corey Seager doubled in the frame and also went deep in the fourth for L.A.  Edwin Rios also left the yard and Dylan Floro picked up the win.  The first-place Dodgers have won their past three.  The series continues tonight in Denver.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seahawks will welcome the Patriots to CenturyLink Field on Sunday.  Seattle looks to start the season 2-and-0 after its opening win over the Falcons.  Pete Carroll says he's hopeful the poor air quality in Washington won't affect their game as it did the Mariners.  The quality was bad enough to move yesterday's practice to the indoor facility.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Reliever Kendall Graveman gave up three runs while retiring just two in the seventh inning as the Mariners were edged by the Giants 6-4 in San Francisco.  Tim Lopes, Phillip Ervin and J.P. Crawford all drove in runs on singles.  Seattle has lost three in a row to dip to 22-and-28 and will play the Padres tonight.  The series was moved to San Francisco due to poor air quality in Washington.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Anthony Rendon smacked a two-run homer in the first inning and the Angels went on to beat the Diamondbacks 7-3 in Anaheim.  Mike Trout also drove in two runs as the Halos avoided a three-game sweep.  Griffin Canning went five innings to earn his first win of the season.  The Angels host the Rangers today.

(Undated)  --  The Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard has made the All-NBA Second Team.  The Portland star is joined by Chris Paul, Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam and Nikola Jokic on the second team.  Lillard averaged 30 points, eight assists and 4.3 rebounds in the regular season and 24.3 points in the postseason before leaving with a knee injury. 

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Western Conference Finals tip off tomorrow as the Lakers face the Denver Nuggets in Game One in Orlando.  The Lakers went 3-and-1 against Denver in the regular season, with the only loss coming when LeBron James didn't play.  The Celtics and Heat meet for Game Two of the Eastern Conference Finals in Orlando tonight.

(San Diego, CA)  --  A.J. Pollock and Chris Taylor both homered as the Dodgers held off the Padres for a 7-5 win in San Diego.  Will Smith drove in three runs for LA, which took two-of-three in the series and clinched a playoff berth for the eighth straight season.  The Dodgers now hold a three-and-a-half game lead on the Friars for first place in the NL West.  Adam Kolarek picked up the win and Pedro Baez posted his second save.  The Dodgers visit the Rockies today.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  The Giants clubbed three homers as they pounded the Mariners 9-3 in San Francisco.  The game was moved from Seattle due to poor air quality.  Brandon Belt, Evan Longoria and Brandon Crawford all went deep in the win.  Trevor Cahill got the win as the series resumes today.

(Undated)  --  Lakers forwards LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both First Team All-NBA.  James was named to the All-NBA team for the 16th time in his career, which sets a new record.  Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard was chosen to the second team.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon is adding to its third-ranked 2021 recruiting class with four-star outside linebacker Jabril McNeill.  247 Sports ranks McNeill as the 13th-best outside linebacker and the number-215 overall player.  The North Carolina native also had offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Washington and several others.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Mike Minor threw a two-hitter as the A's shut out the Mariners 9-0 to split a doubleheader in Seattle.  The former Ranger walked two and struck out eight to get his first win of the season.  Mark Canha and Jake Lamb homered for Oakland.  In the opener, Kyle Lewis hit a two-run homer and walked with the bases loaded in the sixth for the go-ahead run as the M's rallied for a 6-5 win.  Oakland blew a five-run lead.  The A's visit the Rockies today.

(San Diego, CA)  --  Dinelson Lamet outpitched Clayton Kershaw as the Padres pounded the Dodgers 7-2 in San Diego.  The Friars are one-and-a-half games behind L.A. for first in the NL West.  Kershaw struck out nine but gave up three runs to take the loss.  Corey Seager plated a run in the third to give the Dodgers a brief 1-0 lead.  The series continues tonight in San Diego.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Clippers battle the Denver Nuggets tonight in Game Seven of the Western Conference Semifinals in Orlando.  L.A. led the series 3-1 before Denver rallied to wins Games Five and Six.  The winner will advance to play the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

(Inglewood, CA)  --  The Rams opened the brand-new SoFi Stadium with a 20-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in Inglewood.  Malcolm Brown rushed for 78 yards and two scores for L.A. while Jared Goff threw for 275 yards and got picked once.  Aaron Donald recorded a sack in the victory.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers are recovering from a loss to LAFC.  The Timbers gave up an early lead and were doubled up by LAFC 4-2 in Los Angeles.  Eryk Williamson and Jeremy Ebobisse scored for Portland, which has lost two of its last three.  Portland is sixth in the West with 14 points and visits the Earthquakes on Wednesday.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Clippers blew a 19-point lead as they fell to the Nuggets 111-98 in Game Six of the Western Conference semifinals in Orlando.  The loss forces L.A. to play a Game Seven tomorrow after being up in the series 3-1.  Paul George led the charge with 33 points but the Clippers managed just 35 points in the second half.  The winner of Game Seven will face the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

(Denver, CO)  --  Albert Pujols hit his 660th career home-run as the Angels dropped the Rockies 5-3 in Denver.  The two-run shot tied Willie Mays for fifth all-time, and also gave the Halos a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning.  Andrew Heaney worked seven innings of three-run ball to get the win as L.A. took the rubber match on the road.  The Angels have won 8-of-11 and get today off.  They'll host Arizona tomorrow.

(Charlotte, NC)  --  Josh Jacobs ran for three touchdowns as the Raiders outlasted the Panthers 34-30 at Carolina.  His third score of the game with just over four minutes left put Las Vegas ahead for good.  Derek Carr threw for 239 yards and a touchdown as the Raiders built a 27-15 lead after three quarters.  Teddy Bridgewater's 75-yard TD pass to Robby Anderson put the Panthers ahead 30-27 with 8:29 to play before the Raiders rallied. 

(Cincinnati, OH)  --  Joshua Kelley scored a game-tying touchdown and Michael Badgley kicked the go-ahead field goal in the fourth quarter as the Chargers hung on to beat the Bengals 16-13 in Joe Burrow's debut in Cincinnati.  Los Angeles rushed for 155 yards in the victory.  Kelly finished with 60 while Austin Ekeler had 84 to lead the Chargers.  Tyrod Taylor threw for 208 yards for the Bolts, who begin the season 1-and-0.

(Santa Clara, CA)  --  Kyler Murray threw for 230 yards and rushed for 91 as the Cardinals topped the 49ers, 24-20 in Santa Clara.  Raheem Mostert caught a 76-yard touchdown as San Francisco raced out to an early 10-0 lead.  Mostert finished with 95 receiving yards and rushed for 56 for the 49ers.  Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns for San Francisco, which begins the season 0-and-1.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Clippers can advance tonight as they face the Denver Nuggets in Game Five of the Western Conference Semifinals in Orlando.  L.A. leads the seven-game set 3-1 after winning the past two games.  The Clippers are chasing the first NBA Finals appearance in team history.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Lakers are one win away from advancing to the Western Conference Final.  Anthony Davis scored 29 points to lead Los Angeles to a 110-100 win over the Rockets in Game Four.  LeBron James added 16 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists for the Lakers, who take a 3-1 series lead.  Russell Westbrook led the Rockets with 25 points.  Game Five is Saturday.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon starting cornerback Thomas Graham Junior is declaring for the NFL draft.  Graham announced his decision on Twitter, saying he's foregoing his final year of eligibility due to the postponement of all fall sports.  Last season, Graham had 64 tackles, including five for a loss, 10 pass breakups, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

(San Diego, CA)  --  The Giants' five-game win streak is over following a 6-1 loss to the Padres in San Diego.  Trevor Cahill allowed four runs in three innings to get charged with the loss.  Wilmer Flores homered to prevent the shutout as the series continues in San Diego tonight. 

(San Francisco, CA)  --  The San Francisco Giants are saying good bye to the Panda.  World Series hero Pablo Sandoval has been designated for assignment after spending parts of 11 seasons in San Francisco.  Sandoval had Tommy John surgery on his right throwing elbow about a year ago, and hit 220 with one home run this season.  Sandoval was the MVP of the 2012 World Series as the Giants beat the Detroit Tigers.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Matt Olson smacked a two-run homer as the A's edged the Astros 3-1 in Oakland.  Chad Pinder plated the other run for the A's, who took four-of-five in the series.  Sean Manaea fired seven innings of one-run ball as he moved to 4-and-2.  Liam Hendriks closed it out for his 12th save.  The A's visit the Rangers tonight.

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The Dodgers' seven-game win streak against the Diamondbacks ended in a 5-2 loss in Phoenix.  A.J. Pollock and Corey Seager homered in defeat for L.A., which has won 18 of its past 21 against Arizona.  Tony Gonsolin pitched the final five innings and took the loss.  The Dodgers are off today before facing off with Houston at home on Saturday.

(Flushing Meadows, NY)  --  Serena Williams is out of the U.S. Open.  The 38-year-old lost her semifinal match to Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-1, 3-6, 3-6 at Flushing Meadows.  Williams remains one behind Margaret Court for the most Grand Slam singles titles of all-time with 23. 

(Arlington, TX)  --  Mike Trout belted his league-leading 16th home run as the Angels topped the Rangers 6-2 in Texas.  Rookie Jared Walsh homered for the third time in five games for the Halos, who avoided a three-game sweep.  Dylan Bundy struck out 12 over seven-and-a-third innings of two-run ball as he moved to 5-and-2.  The Angels visit Colorado tonight.

(Santa Clara, CA)  -- The 49ers held practice under the smoke and ash filled skies in Santa Clara on Wednesday.  The NFL is monitoring the wildfires and the air quality ahead of the Niners' season opener at Levi's Stadium on Sunday against Arizona.  The NFL season kicks off tonight as the defending champion Chiefs face the Houston Texans.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Lakers clash with the Rockets tonight in Game Four of their Western Conference semifinal in Orlando.  The Purple and Gold are up 2-1 in the series and look to take control.  They have won two straight since losing Game One.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Clippers held the Nuggets to just 12 first-quarter points in a 96-85 win in Game Four of their Western Conference semifinal in Orlando.  Kawhi Leonard piled up 30 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and four steals in a dominant performance.  The Clips now lead the best-of-seven series 3-1, with Game Five set for tomorrow.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  The nearby wildfires didn't put out the Giants offense as they bashed the Mariners 10-1 in San Francisco.  Mike Yastrzemski clubbed a three-run homer to start the scoring in the third and the Giants tagged on seven more over the next three frames.  Evan Longoria plated three in the Giants' fifth straight win.  They'll visit San Diego tonight.

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks in 10 innings for the second straight day with a 6-4 victory in Phoenix.  Chris Taylor and A.J. Pollock singled in runs in the 10th to put L.A. up for good.  Mookie Betts and Kike Hernandez homered and Jake McGee got the win.  The Dodgers will go for the three-game sweep today. 

(Arlington, TX)  --  Julio Teheran gave up six hits and five runs as the Rangers tagged the Angels 7-3 in Arlington.  Teheran didn't make it out of the fifth and fell to 0-and-3 for the Halos.  Matt Thaiss homered in the loss.  The Angels will try to prevent the sweep today.

(Oakland, CA)  --  The A's played under smoky skies amid the California wildfires as they walked off on the Astros 3-2 in Oakland.  Ramon Laureano singled in the winning run to end it.  Tommy La Stella tied it with a two-run double in the seventh.  Jesus Luzardo worked seven innings for the A's and Liam Hendricks got the win.  The series finale is tonight.

(Orlando, FL)  --  LeBron James scored 29 of his 36 points in the first half as the Lakers powered past the Rockets 112-102 in Game Three of the Western semis in Orlando.  Anthony Davis poured in 26 points and 15 rebounds as L.A. took a 2-1 series lead over Houston.  Rajon Rondo chipped in 21 points and nine assists off the bench.  James Harden scored 33 points for Houston, and Russell Westbrook added 30.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Timbers midfielder Sebastian Blanco is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL.  Blanco suffered the injury in just the second minute of Sunday's 2-1 win at Seattle.  He is scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday. 

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  Gavin Lux hit the deciding three-run homer in the 10th inning as the Dodgers outlasted the Diamondbacks 10-9 in Arizona.  The Dodgers scored four in the 10th and held off the Snakes, who scored three before Kenley Jensen shut the door for the win.  Lux homered twice and drove in five for first-place L.A.  The series continues tonight in Phoenix.

(Orlando, FL)  --  Lakers forward Anthony Davis is on the NBA All-Defensive First Team.  Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard and guard Patrick Beverley were each named to the second team.  The last NBA award to be announced is the MVP, which LeBron James is in the running for.  Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is the favorite. 

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Clippers look to extend their series lead as they clash with the Nuggets in Game Four of the Western semis in Orlando.  The Clips lead the series 2-1 after taking Game Three.  L.A. head coach Doc Rivers told ESPN that Denver center Nikola Jokic may be the greatest passing big man of all time on Tuesday.

(Arlington, TX)  --  Jared Walsh homered to prevent the shutout as the Rangers dropped the Angels 7-1 in Arlington.  Andrew Heaney worked five innings but took the loss and fell to 3-and-3.  The Halos continue the series in Texas today. 

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Astros and A's split a doubleheader in Oakland on Tuesday.  Khris Davis homered and doubled for the A's in a 4-2 win to start the day.  Frankie Montas earned the W while Zack Greinke took the loss.  The Astros erased a four-run deficit to win the nightcap 5-4.  Yuli Gurriel drove in the go-ahead run on a sac-fly in the seventh.  Matt Olson homered in the loss for the A's, who lead the AL West at 25-and-15.  The series continues tonight.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Darin Ruf hit the go-ahead home run in the seventh inning as the Giants rallied past the Mariners 6-5 in San Francisco.  Alex Dickerson and Mauricio Dubon also homered to help the Giants close a four-run deficit.  Brandon Belt plated two and Tyler Rogers earned the win.  San Francisco has won its past four to get to 22-and-21.  Seattle visits again tonight.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell is opting out of the upcoming season and will instead prepare for the NFL draft.  Sewell is ranked the number-two overall prospect in the country by ESPN behind Clemson's Trevor Lawrence.  The decision comes after the Pac-12 postponed all fall sports until at least next year.  Last season with the Ducks, he became the first sophomore to win the Outland Trophy. 

(Flushing Meadows, NY)  --  Third-seeded Serena Williams is into the quarterfinals at the U.S. Open.  The 38-year-old Compton native outlasted 15th-seeded Maria Sakkari of Greece 6-3, 6-7 (8), 6-3 in Monday's fourth round at Flushing Meadows.  Williams is seeking her 24th career Grand Slam singles title, which would tie Margaret Court for the most all-time.

(Orlando, FL)  -- Paul George delivered 32 points as the Clippers edged the Nuggets 113-107 in Game Three of their West semifinal in Orlando.  "Playoff P" shot 12-of-18 for L.A., including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.  Kawhi Leonard added 23 points and 14 rebounds to give the Clippers a 2-1 series lead.  Game Four is tomorrow.

(Orlando, FL)  --  The Lakers continue their Western Conference semifinal series tonight as they face the Rockets in Game Three from Orlando.  The series is tied up at one win apiece following the Lakers' Game Two win on Sunday.  JaVale McGee is questionable to play with a sprained ankle and Dion Waiters is doubtful due to a strained groin.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Kevin Gausman struck out nine over six innings as the Giants doubled up the Diamondbacks 4-2 in San Francisco.  Darin Ruf drove in two runs for the Giants.  Sam Coonrod picked up the save for San Francisco, which has won six of eight.  The Giants are 21-and-21 and host Seattle tonight.

(Arlington, TX)  --  The Angels look to extend their five-game win streak as they visit the Texas Rangers.  The Halos sit fourth in the AL West at 17-and-25, while Texas is last at 13-and-27.  Julio Teheran gets the start for the Angels.

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The Dodgers are in Phoenix for a three-game series with the Diamondbacks.  L.A. lead the NL West at 30-and-12, while Arizona is last at 15-and-27.  Walker Buehler gets the start for the Dodgers.

(Oakland, CA)  --  Chris Bassitt fired seven shutout innings as the A's blanked the Astros 6-0 in Oakland.  Bassitt improved to 3-and-2, and Sean Murphy plated three runs on a homer and a two-run single for the A's.  They are four-and-a-half games ahead of Houston for the divison lead.  Frankie Montas takes the mound against Zack Greinke today.
