Blazers Host Celtics

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers host the Boston Celtics tonight in a battle of two potential playoff teams.  Portland is currently in sixth in the Western Conference, while Boston is fourth in the East.  The Blazers trail only Golden State and San Antonio for having the best home record in the NBA over the past two-and-a-half months.

Washington vs. Syracuse In Women's Final Four Sunday

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  Washington will be in Indianapolis this weekend for the Women's Final Four.  The seventh-seeded Huskies will play fourth-seeded Syracuse in Sunday's national semifinals.  UConn will face Oregon State in the other semifinal.  The winners will meet in the title game on Tuesday.

Beavers Prepare For Final Four

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  The Oregon State women's basketball team continues to prepare for its first-ever Final Four.  The sixth-ranked Beavers will face top-ranked and undefeated Connecticut on Sunday.  The winner will advance to play either Washington or Syracuse for the national championship on Tuesday, April 5th.

Ducks Fall In WNIT Semifinals

(Vermillion, SD)  --  Six players scored in double-figures as South Dakota defeated Oregon, 88-54, in the semifinals of the WNIT at the Dakota Dome.  Jacinta Vandenberg's season-high 17 points led the way for the Ducks.  Lexi Bando added 15 points in the loss.  Oregon ends the season with a record of 24-and-11, one win shy of the team's single-season record.

Timbers On Road Against Orlando City

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers return to action this weekend when they travel to Florida to take on Orlando City on Sunday.  Portland's Fanendo Adi is the first-ever Timbers' player to score three goals in the first three games of the MLS season.  The Timbers are in eighth place in the Western Conference.

Seattle Storm Star Lauren Jackson Retires

(Seattle, WA)  --  Seattle Storm forward Lauren Jackson says she's done with professional basketball.  The seven-time WNBA All-Star says she's retiring after having multiple surgeries on her knee, which she injured two years ago while playing in China.  The 34-year-old Australian was Seattle's top pick in the 2001 WNBA Draft.  Jackson is the Storm's all-time leading scorer with more than six-thousand points, and leads the team in rebounds and blocked shots.

Oregon State Gears Up For Meeting With UConn

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State women's basketball looks to shock the world Sunday against Connecticut in the Final Four.  The Beavers defeated Baylor 60-57 on Monday.  The Huskies are seeking their fourth consecutive national championship.

Ducks Coach Altman To Be Inducted Into Omaha Hall Of Fame

(Omaha, NE)  --  Oregon Ducks head basketball coach Dana Altman is being inducted into the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame.  Altman is a former Creighton University Basketball head coach.  He was a seven-time Conference Coach of the Year and owns over 550 career wins as Blue Jays head coach.  Altman guided the Ducks to the Pac-12 regular season and tournament championships and the Elite Eight this past season.

Blazers Host Celtics Tomorrow

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers host the Boston Celtics tomorrow night from the Moda Center.  The Blazers have won back-to-back games to improve to 39-and-36 overall.  Portland fell to the C's earlier in the month 116-93.

Washington Women Face Syracuse In Final Four Sunday

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  The Washington women's basketball team is Final Four bound.  The seventh-seeded Huskies will head to Indianapolis this Sunday to take on fourth-seeded Syracuse in the national semifinals.  Washington advanced with an 85-76 triumph over fourth-seeded Stanford this past Sunday.

Winterhawks Fall To Everett

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Winterhawks are on the brink of elimination after a 5-3 loss to Everett in Game Three of their WHL playoff series at the Moda Center.  The 'Hawks will host Game Four tonight.

Oregon State Women Advance To NCAA Final Four

(Dallas, TX)  --  The Oregon State women's basketball team will make its first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance, after defeating Baylor, 60-57, to win the Dallas Regional.  Sidney Wiese scored 18 points for the Beavers, and Jamie Weisner scored 16 and grabbed eight rebounds.  Oregon State will move on to Indianapolis for a meeting with top-seed Connecticut this Sunday.

Trail Blazers Crush Kings

(Portland, OR)  --  Allen Crabbe scored 21 points off the bench to lead the Trail Blazers over the Kings, 105-93, at the Moda Center.  C.J. McCollum put up 16 points while Damian Lillard added 13 points and nine assists as Portland cruised to its third win in four games.  The Blazers host the Boston Celtics on Thursday here on KBND.

Ducks' Altman: Oregon Season A Stepping Stone

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon head basketball coach Dana Altman says this season is a stepping stone for the program.  The Ducks were ousted from the NCAA Tournament in the Elite Eight on Saturday by Oklahoma.  OU won a school-record 31 games, won the Pac-12 regular season title, Pac-12 tournament title, while earning a one-seed in the "Big Dance."

OSU's Payton II NABC All-District First Team

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State's Gary Payton the Second is earning some awards for his great season.  Payton has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division One All-District 20 First Team.  The honor is selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.  This is the second time he has earned the honor.

Former Trail Blazer coach takes over at Tulane

Former long-time NBA coach Mike Dunleavy is taking his first shot at coaching in college, getting hired to lead a Tulane program that has languished at or below .500 for most of the past two decades since its last NCAA Tournament appearance in 1995. Dunleavy played
for South Carolina before a lengthy career as an NBA player and coach. He's been the head coach of four NBA teams, most recently the Clippers from 2003-10. His six-year hiatus from coaching ends as he replaces Ed Conroy, who was fired after six seasons.

Ducks Fall In Elite Eight

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Buddy Hield scored 37 points as Oklahoma downed Oregon, 80-68, in the West Regional Final in Anaheim on Saturday.  Elgin Cook scored a team-high 24 points for the Ducks.  Oregon ends the year with a record of 31-and-7.

Blazers Stun 76ers

(Portland, OR)  --  C.J. McCollum's three-point play in the final seconds was the difference as the Blazers beat the 76ers, 108-105 in Portland on Saturday.  McCollum finished with 25 points, five assists, and five steals.  Al-Farouq Aminu had 20 points as the Blazers improved to 38-and-36.  Portland is currently the sixth seed in the West and hosts Sacramento tonight.

Beavers Advance To Elite Eight

(Dallas, TX)  -- The sixth-ranked Oregon State women's basketball team advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history with an 83-71 win over DePaul on Saturday.  Jamie Weisner led OSU with a career-high 38 points.  The second-seeded Beavers face top-seeded Baylor tonight in Dallas.  The winner will advance to face either Texas or Connecticut at the Final Four in Indianapolis.

Oregon At UTEP In WNIT Quarterfinals

(El Paso, TX)  --  The Oregon women's basketball team is on the road tonight to take on UTEP [[ you-tep ]] in the Elite Eight of the Women's NIT.  It could be a tough matchup for the Ducks, as the 29-and-4 Miners have not lost at home all season.  The winner will advance to play South Dakota in the semifinals.

Timbers Preparing For Orlando City

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers' will resume their MLS season when they play at Orlando City on Sunday.  Portland has a win, loss, and draw in its past three matches.  The Timbers are in eighth place in the Western Conference with four points.

Ducks Humble Duke, 82-68

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Top-seed Oregon is advancing to the Elite Eight, after defeating fourth-seed Duke in the NCAA Tournament West Region semifinal, 82-68.  Dillon Brooks led Oregon last night with 22 points, and Elgin Cook added 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds.  Oregon's game against Oklahoma Saturday will be the first Elite Eight appearance for the Ducks since 2007.

Blazers Fall To Clippers At Buzzer

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  J.J. Redick hit the game-winner as time expired to give the Clippers a 96-94 win over the Blazers in Los Angeles.  Damian Lillard had 18 points and eight assists in the loss for Portland, which fell to 37-36 on the season.  The Trail Blazers have a one-game lead over Dallas for sixth place in the Western Conference.  Portland hosts the worst team in the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers, tomorrow night.

Oregon Advances To WNIT Quarterfinals

(El Paso, TX)  --  The Oregon women's basketball team will take on UTEP in the quarterfinals of the WNIT on Monday night.  The Ducks defeated Utah, 73-63, on Wednesday to advance to the Elite Eight.  UTEP defeated TCU, 79-71.

Beavers' Named To Pac-12 All-Academic Teams

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Seven members of the OSU women's basketball team have been named to the Pac-12 All Academic Teams.  Samantha Siegner and Ruth Hamblin were named to the first team, while Sydney Wiese was named to the second team.  Marie Gulich, Deven Hunter, Jamie Weisner and Gabriella Hanson earned honorable mention status for the Beavers.

Timbers Preparing For Orlando City

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers' next match isn't until a week from Sunday when they play at Orlando City.  Portland has a win, loss and draw in its past three matches.  The Timbers are tied for sixth place in the Western Conference with four points.

Beavers' Named WBCA All-Region Selections

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Jamie Weisner and Ruth Hamblin have been named All-Region selections by the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association.  Weisner and Hamblin are finalists for the WBCA All-American Team, which will be announced on April 2nd.  Weisner was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year earlier this month.

Blazers Bounce Mavericks

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard posted 27 points as the Trail Blazers bounced the Mavericks, 109-103, in Portland.  The Blazers led by as many as 16 in the final quarter.  Ed Davis added 16 points and nine boards off the bench.  The Blazers improved to 37-and-35, a game-and-a-half ahead of the Mavs for the sixth seed in the West.

Ducks Advance To WNIT Quarterfinals

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon women's basketball team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.  The Ducks defeated Utah, 73-63, behind 34 points and five rebounds from Lexi Bando.  Lexi Petersen added 14 points for Oregon in the win.  The Ducks will face the winner of tonight's matchup between TCU and UTEP.

Ducks Battle Blue Devils

(Anaheim, CA)  --  The top-seeded Oregon men's basketball team will face the fourth-seeded Duke Blue Devils tonight in Anaheim.  Both teams earned close wins in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the Sweet 16.  The Ducks beat Saint Joseph's by five while the Blue Devils beat Yale by seven.  The winner will advance to face either Texas A&M or Oklahoma on Saturday in the Elite Eight.

OSU Prepares For DePaul In Sweet 16

(Dallas, TX)  --  The second-seeded Oregon State women's basketball team is preparing to face sixth-seeded DePaul in the Sweet 16 in Dallas, Texas.  The Beavers will take on the Blue Demons for the first time in school history on Saturday.  OSU is making its first Sweet 16 appearance since 1983.
 

Timbers' Adi Named To MLS Team Of The Week

(Portland, OR)  --  Timbers forward Fanendo Adi has been named to the MLS Team of the Week.  Adi scored two goals in the final 15 minutes of the match as Portland rallied for a 2-2 draw with Real Salt Lake on Saturday.  The Timbers next take on Orlando City on Sunday, April 3rd, in Orlando.

Blazers Host Mavericks Tonight

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers wrap up a home-and-home with the Dallas Mavericks tonight from the Moda Center.  The Blazers have lost three of their last four, including a 132-120 overtime loss to Dallas on Sunday.  Portland is 36-and-35, a half-game up on the Mavs for the sixth spot in the Western Conference standings.  Tip at 7:00 on KBND.

Top-Seeded Oregon Preps For Sweet 16

(Eugene, OR)  --  Top-seeded University of Oregon is prepping for its Sweet Sixteen matchup with fourth-seeded Duke.  The Ducks and Blue Devils meet in Anaheim.  UO defeated Holy Cross and Saint Joseph's to advance.  Oregon fell to Duke in their only meeting all-time.

Schneider: Chancellor Will Return To Seahawks In 2016

(Boca Raton, FL)  --  Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider says safety Kam Chancellor will return to the team next season.  The "Seattle Times" reports Schneider made the remarks to reporters yesterday at the NFL's annual meeting in Boca Raton, Florida, saying Chancellor will "definitely be a Seahawk in 2016."  There had been speculation that Chancellor might head elsewhere, after there was no definitive resolution to a contract dispute last year.  Chancellor held out from training camp through the first two regular-season games last season because of a disagreement over a four-year, 28-million-dollar pact he signed before the 2013 season.

Oregon Women Meet Utah Tonight In WNIT

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon women's basketball hosts Utah tonight in the Women's National Invitational Tournament.  The Ducks have beat Long Beach State and Fresno State to advance.  UO is 22-and-10 overall, while the Utes are 18-and-12.  Tip from Eugene at 6:00.

The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team is headed to Anaheim Thursday to face the duke blue devils in the NCAA men’s tournament regional semifinals, or sweet-16

The Ducks advance after coming from behind to defeat St. Joseph’s, 69-64 to improve to 30-and-6.

The winner meets the winner of Oklahoma vs. Texas A&M Saturday for the West Regional Championship and a chance at a trip to the final-4 in Indianapolis next weekend.


 

OSU Women Hoops

4 PAC-12 women’s teams remain alive in the NCAA Women’s big dance and the Sweet 16 coming up this weekend.

The PAC-12 champion Oregon State Beavers meet DePaul in the Dallas regional semifinals Saturday with the tipoff set for 3pm Pacific Time.

OSU is 30-and-4 while DePaul is 27-and-8….the winner meets the winner of Baylor vs. Florida State.

Also on Saturday,…UCLA meets 7th ranked Texas at 10:30am. And, Stanford faces #2 Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m.

UW Women Advance To Sweet 16

(College Park, MD)  --  The University of Washington is headed to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, after defeating Maryland, 74-65.  Kelsey Plum scored 32 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had seven assists to lead the Huskies.  Talia Walton added 20 points for Washington.  The Huskies will play Kentucky in Lexington this Friday, with the tipoff set for four p.m.
 

NIT tournament

Washington's season came to an end with a 93-78 loss to San Diego State in the second round of the NIT.  The Huskies finished the season 19-and-15.  San Diego State moves on to play Georgia Tech in the quarterfinals.

Coming up tonight in the NIT quarters….St. Mary’s of the West coast conference will travel to Valpraiso for a 4 p.m. tipoff on ESPN.

Meantime…BYU hosts Creighton in Provo at 6 p.m., also on ESPN TV.

Blazers prepare to host the Mavericks

The Blazers are off until tomorrow night when they entertain the Dallas Mavericks here on KBND at 7.

The Mavs beat Portland Sunday night, in overtime, 132-120.
The Blazers have lost 7 of their last 10 and have 11 games to play in the regular season.  They are 36-and-35 and sit in 6th place in the western conference playoff standings.

College Baseball rankings

The Oregon State Beavers have moved up to be ranked number-3 in the nation in college baseball after the Beavs swept Arizona State over the weekend to open PAC-12 league play. OSU is 15-and-2 overall and plays at the University of Portland tonight.

Meantime, the Oregon Ducks lost the weekend series to Utah and were knocked out of the top-25. Cal is rated 17th and UCLA 18th.

Oregon Survives To Advance To Sweet 16

(Spokane, WA)  --  The Oregon Ducks will move on to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, after earning a 69-64 win over Saint Joseph's.  The top-seeded Ducks overcame a seven-point deficit late in the game to remain the only PAC-12 team in the tourney.  Dillon Brooks scored 25 points and Elgin Cook added 18 for Oregon.  The Ducks will play fourth-seed Duke Thursday in the regional semifinals.

Nowitzki, Williams Lead Mavs By Blazers

(Dallas, TX)  --  Dirk Nowitzki scored 40 points as the Mavericks downed the Blazers, 132-120, in overtime in Dallas.  Deron Williams added 31 points and 16 assists for Dallas, which opened OT on an 11-0 run.  Damian Lillard led Portland with 26 points.  Mason Plumlee finished with 14 points and 19 rebounds in the loss.  Dallas moved to a half-game behind the Blazers for the sixth-seed in the Western Conference playoff race.

VCU Ousts Oregon State

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  JeQuan Lewis compiled 21 points, seven rebounds and eight assists as VCU ousted Oregon State with a 75-67 win in the West Regional in Oklahoma City on Friday.  Gary Payton the Second had 19 points for the seventh-seeded Beavers, who finish their season 19-and-13.

Oregon Hosts Fresno State In WNIT

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon women's basketball team will host Fresno State tonight in the second round of the WNIT at Matthew Knight Arena.  The Ducks defeated Long Beach State, 84-76, in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday.  Oregon is 21-10 on the season, while Fresno State is 22-11.
 

Timbers Match Ends In Draw

(Portland, OR)  --  Fanendo Adi scored two goals for the Timbers in the final 11 minutes of the match to draw Real Salt Lake, 2-2, at Providence Park on Saturday.  The Timbers will face Orlando City on Sunday, April 3rd, at the Citrus Bowl.  Portland is 1-1-1 on the season.

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Oregon State women's basketball team advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 69-40 defeat of St. Bonaventure yesterday.  The second-seeded Beavers will face sixth-seeded DePaul on Saturday in Dallas.  The winner will advance to the Elite Eight to face either Baylor, Florida State or Texas A&M.

Timbers Prep For Real Salt Lake

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers will host Real Salt Lake on Saturday.  Both teams will be searching for their second win of the season in what will be the 19th matchup between the two teams.  Portland has shut out Real Salt Lake in four consecutive MLS matches.

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  Seventh-seeded Oregon State will face 10th-seeded Virginia Commonwealth today in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  The Beavers are making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1990.  Today marks the first-ever matchup between OSU and VCU.

Oregon Prepares For First Round Matchup In NCAA Tournament

(Spokane, WA)  --  Oregon opens NCAA Tournament play tonight against Holy Cross in Spokane.  The top-seeded Ducks face the 16th-seed Crusaders, with the winner advancing to play either Cincinnati or Saint Joseph's.  Holy Cross is 15-and-19 on the season and is the only team in the NCAA Tournament with a losing record.  Broadcast time is 4:00 p.m. on KBND.

Hot Shooting Ducks Advance In WNIT Tournament

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon women's basketball team shot its way to an 84-76 victory over Long Beach State in the opening round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament in Eugene.  Five players scored in double figures for Oregon, as the hot-shooting Ducks made over 50-percent from the field and over 46-percent from three-point range.  Oregon will play the winner of Fresno State and Santa Clara in the second round of the WNIT on Monday.

OSU Women To Host Troy

(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Oregon State women's basketball team hosts the Troy Trojans in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this afternoon.  It is the first-ever meeting between the two programs.  This is the third-straight season the Beavers have played in the Big Dance.
 

San Antonio Sinks Blazers, 118-110

(San Antonio, TX)  --  The struggling Portland Trail Blazers are hoping to get back on the winning track tonight, after dropping a 118-110 decision to San Antonio.  Former Blazer LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard each scored 22 points for the Spurs.  C.J. McCollum tallied 26 points and Damian Lillard added 23 for Portland.  The Blazers will visit New Orleans tonight.

Report: Seahawks OT Okung Signs With Denver

(Denver, CO)  --  It appears Seahawks offensive tackle Russell Okung is headed to Denver.  CBS Sports is reporting the Broncos have agreed to sign the former Pro Bowler for one year at five-million dollars plus incentives, and will have the option to sign him for another four years at 12-million dollars per season.  Okung, who was an unrestricted free agent, reportedly drew offers from several teams before agreeing to the Denver contract.

Timbers Welcome New Players

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers' bench got a little deeper on Tuesday when Darren Mattocks and Jack Barmby arrived in Portland.  Both players are on loan from Leicester City FC of the English Premier League.  The Timbers host Real Salt Lake on Saturday.

Trail Blazers Face Spurs

(San Antonio, TX)  --  The Blazers take on the Spurs in San Antonio tonight.  Portland will be trying to put the first blemish on San Antonio's home record this season, as the Spurs have won 42 straight home games.  The Blazers will be without big man Meyers Leonard due to a dislocated left shoulder injury suffered in practice yesterday.  Portland is sixth in the Western Conference with a record of 35-and-33.

Ducks To Face Crusaders In NCAA Tournament

(Dayton, OH)  --  The Oregon Ducks now know who they'll face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  Holy Cross defeated Southern, 59-55, to advance to play Oregon tomorrow in Spokane.  The 15-and-19 Crusaders will attempt to become the first 16-seed to beat a one-seed in the men's NCAA Tournament.

OSU Women To Host Troy

OSU's Rueck Name Coach Of The Year Finalist

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Scott Rueck, head coach of Oregon State's women's basketball team, was named a finalist for the Naismith College Coach of the Year Award.  Rueck guided the Beavers to the best season in program history with 28 wins and a number-six overall ranking.  The winner will be announced on April 4th.

Seahawks Waive Longtime Long-snapper

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seattle Seahawks' longtime long-snapper is thanking fans for their support, after being waived by the team.  Clint Gresham played 108 games for the Seahawks after being signed in 2010 as an undrafted free agent out of TCU.  The Hawks have re-signed linebacker Eric Pinkins, who played mostly on special teams for Seattle last season.  Pinkins could compete for the linebacker position that came open with the departure of Bruce Irvin for Oakland.

Oregon, OSU Prep For NCAA Tournament

(Dayton, OH)  --  The NCAA Tournament trims down to its field of 64 tonight following the completion of the First Four.  The top-seeded Oregon Ducks learn their Round One opponent tonight when Holy Cross meets Southern in the First Four.  The seventh-seeded Beavers will face 10th-seeded VCU in Oklahoma City on Friday.

Blazers Visit Spurs Tomorrow

(San Antonio, TX)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers are on the road tomorrow in San Antonio visiting the Spurs.  Portland lost by 34 points to Oklahoma City Monday.  The Blazers are 35-and-33 overall, and have dropped both games they've played the Spurs this season.
 

#2 Oregon State To Play #15 Troy Friday

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State women's basketball hosts the Dallas Regional in Corvallis on Friday.  The second-seeded Beavers welcome 15th-seeded Troy.  Oklahoma State and St. Bonaventure also are playing in the bracket.  The Beavers fell in the Second Round to Gonzaga last season.

Seahawks Sign OL J'Marcus Webb

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seattle Seahawks have another free-agent offensive lineman on their roster.  The team says J'Marcus Webb, who played last season for Oakland, has been signed to a two-year deal worth six-point-25-million dollars.  SeattlePI.com reports Webb started 16 games at guard for the Raiders last year, but the Seahawks have him listed as a tackle.  The new contract makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman currently on Seattle's roster.
 

Pilots' Head Coach Reveno Fired

(Portland, OR)  --  After ten years at the University of Portland, head men's basketball coach Eric Reveno is out of a job.  Reveno was fired yesterday after the Pilots finished the season with a 12-and-20 record.  Portland ended its campaign with a loss to Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals.  Reveno's overall record as head coach of the Pilots was 140 wins and 178 losses.

Oregon, OSU Gear Up For NCAA Tournament

(Undated)  --  The NCAA Tournament tips tonight from Dayton, Ohio with the First Four.  Both Oregon and Oregon State are gearing up for their respective matchups.  The top-seeded Ducks will play the 16th-seeded winner of tomorrow's Holy Cross versus Southern game.  The seventh-seeded Beavers will face 10th-seeded VCU in Oklahoma City on Friday.
 

Thunder Thrash Trail Blazers

(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  Russell Westbrook recorded his 12th triple-double of the season with 17 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Thunder past the Trail Blazers 128-94 at Chesapeake Energy Arena.  Damian Lillard led Portland with 21 points.  The Blazers fell to 35-and-33.  They visit the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.
 

Seahawks Sign DT Siliga, OT Sowell

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seattle Seahawks are looking to fill a void on the defensive line, following the loss of Brandon Mebane to free agency.  The team has signed former Patriots defensive tackle Sealver Siliga to a one-year deal for a reported one-point-four-million dollars.  The Hawks have also signed former Cardinals offensive tackle Bradley Sowell to a one-year contract for a reported one-point-five-million.  Seattle also signed punter Jon Ryan to a four-year deal for ten-million dollars.

Oregon State Women Earn Two Seed

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State women's basketball is going dancing in the NCAA Tournament.  The Beavers earned a two-seed and host 15-seed Troy on Friday from Corvallis.  OSU was upset by Gonzaga in the second round last season.

Thorns Open Practice

(Beaverton, OR)  --  The Portland Thorns opened their first training of the 2016 season at Providence Park.  Portland is preparing for a preseason tournament with the Seattle Reign, Houston Dash and Oregon State.  The Thorns open the National Women's Soccer League season when they play host to the Orlando Pride on April 17th.

Blazers Demolish Magic

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard led the way for Trail Blazers with 19 points and 10 assists in a 121-84 demolition of the Magic at home on Saturday.   Things got chippy in the third quarter as Lillard and Orlando's Jason Smith had to be separated after an offensive foul on Smith.  Portland's Ed Davis was ejected later in the quarter for a flagrant foul on Smith.  Portland is on the road against Oklahoma City tonight.

Oregon Claims Number One Seed In NCAA Tourney

(Eugene, OR)  --  For the first time in program history, the University of Oregon's men's basketball team is a number-one seed in the NCAA Tournament.  The Ducks are the top seed in the West and will play the 16th-seeded winner of the Holy Cross versus Southern game.  Oregon won both the Pac-12 regular season title and the Pac-12 Conference Tournament, finishing with a record of 28-and-6.

Oregon State To Play VCU In NCAA Tournament

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State will play in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1990.  The seventh-seeded Beavers will face 10th-seeded VCU in Oklahoma City on Friday.  OSU's 26-year NCAA Tournament drought is the second longest among major conference programs.  The Beavers are 19-12, while VCU is 24-10.

Timbers Lose To Quakes, 2-1

(San Jose, CA)  --  The Portland Timbers hope to have better luck at home next weekend, after dropping a 2-1 decision to San Jose on the road.  Sloppy field conditions made things difficult for the defending MLS champs, who suffered only their second loss in 14 regular season games against the Earthquakes.  Jack McInerny scored Portland's only goal in the 89th minute.  The Timbers will host Real Salt Lake this Saturday night.

Blazers Travel To Golden State For First Time This Season

(Oakland, CA)  --  The Blazers will face Golden State tonight for the first time on the road this season.  Portland will be trying to do something that no other NBA team has done this season - beat the Warriors twice.  The Blazers dominated the Warriors the last time they met, a 32-point victory in Portland in February.  Portland is currently 34-and-31 and in sixth in the West.

Lillard Achieves NBA Milestone

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard is the third player in NBA history to record 1,500 points and 400 assists in each of his first four NBA seasons.  Lillard joined Oscar Robertson and LeBron James as the only players to accomplish this feat.  The Blazers drafted Lillard with the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Weber State University.

Ducks Defeat Washington In PAC-12 Tournament

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Oregon men's basketball team is advancing in the PAC-12 Tournament after defeating Washington, 83-77.  The Ducks held off a late rally by the Huskies as they look to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament.  Chris Boucher and Elgin Cook each scored 19 points for Oregon.   Number-nine Oregon will face number-14 Arizona tonight in the semifinals tonight at 6:15.

Portland State Falls To Weber State In Big Sky Tournament

(Reno, NV)  --  Portland State rallied from a double-digit deficit but was unable to pull off the upset victory over top-seeded Weber State in the Big Sky Tournament quarterfinals, losing 78-74.  Cameron Forte had a game-high 25 points for the Vikings.  The loss ended Portland State's four-game winning streak along with its season.

Oregon State Falls To Cal in Pac-12 Tourney

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Beavers kept it close but were unable to upset the 24th-ranked Golden Bears as California topped Oregon State, 76-68, in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas.  The third-seeded Bears will face 12th-ranked and second-seeded Utah tonight in the semifinals of the Pac-12 Tournament.

Timbers Rumble With Earthquakes On Sunday

(San Jose, CA)  --  The Timbers will travel to San Jose on Sunday in their first road game of the MLS season.  The Earthquakes and Timbers are both 1-and-0, with Portland winning against the Columbus Crew and San Jose beating Colorado.

Seahawks, Kearse Agree On New Contract

(Renton, WA)  --  Free-agent wide receiver Jermaine Kearse will remain with the Seattle Seahawks, after agreeing to a three-year deal.  Multiple reports say the contract is worth 13-point-five-million dollars.  Kearse had previously indicated he would likely play for another team next season.  The Seahawks held onto another unrestricted free agent earlier this week, when they agreed to a four-year contract with cornerback Jeremy Lane.

Blazers Look To Add Another Loss To Golden State's Historic Record

(Portland, OR)  --  The Blazers will try to take the lead in the season series with the Warriors when they travel to Oakland tomorrow night.  Friday's matchup will be the third of four games between the two teams this season.  The Warriors have only lost six times all season, but one of those losses came via Portland when the Blazers beat Golden State by 32 in February.  The Blazers ended a three-game losing streak on Tuesday with a win against Washington.
 

Ducks Open Pac-12 Tournament Against Washington

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The top-seeded Ducks open the Pac-12 Tournament against the eighth-seeded Huskies this afternoon.  Oregon earned the top seed in the tournament by finishing the season 14-4 in conference play.  Washington beat Stanford in the opening round of the tournament, 91-68.

Oregon State Wins In PAC-12 Tourney Over Arizona State

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  Oregon State is looking to earn its first NCAA Tournament bid in 26 years, and furthered its cause by defeating Arizona State in the PAC-12 Tourney, 75-66.  Stephen Thompson, Jr. scored 13 points last night to lead the Beavers.  Oregon State will advance to the quarterfinals, where it will face third-seed California tonight.

Portland State To Face Weber State In Big Sky Tournament

(Reno, NV)  --  Portland State's reward for winning its opening round game over Northern Colorado is a date with top-seeded Weber State in the Big Sky Tournament quarterfinals this afternoon.  PSU has never beaten the Wildcats in tournament play, having lost all five previous matchups.

PSU Football Holds Annual Pro Day

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland State football program held its annual pro day on Wednesday.  More than a dozen NFL scouts attended the event, which showcased the skills of 15 former Viking football players.  A player from Southern Oregon University also participated in the event.

Three Seahawks Starters Lost To Free Agency

(Renton, WA)  --  Seahawks defensive tackle Brandon Mebane [[ MEE-bane ]] is headed to San Diego.  Mebane has announced he's signing a three-year deal with the Chargers as an unrestricted free agent.  Seattle linebacker Bruce Irvin has confirmed he's signing a 37-million-dollar free-agent contract with Oakland.  Fox Sports is reporting that free-agent Seahawks tight end J.R. Sweezy will sign a five-year, 32-and-a-half-million-dollar contract with Tampa Bay.

Timbers Acquire Jack Barmby from Leicester City

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers have acquired Jack Barmby, who is on loan from Leicester City.  The 21-year-old midfielder and defender will fill an international spot on the Timbers' roster and will join the team pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

Blazers Edge Wizards In OT

(Portland, OR)  --  Damian Lillard dropped in 41 points and dished out 11 assists as the Trail Blazers beat the Wizards in overtime, 116-109, at the Moda Center.  C.J. McCollum added 18 points for the Blazers, who snapped a three-game losing streak.  The Blazers meet Golden State on Friday.

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The top-seeded Oregon Ducks await their opponent in the Pac-12 Tournament from Las Vegas.  UO will face the winner between eighth-seeded Washington and ninth-seeded Stanford.  The Ducks will tip against the Cardinal or Huskies at noon.
 

Portland State Advances In Big Sky Tournament

(Reno, NV)  --   Cameron Forte had 26 points and 12 rebounds and eighth-seeded Portland State beat ninth-seeded Northern Colorado 74-67 in the opener of the Big Sky tournament from Reno.   De'Sean Parsons added a career-high 21 points for the Vikings, who play top-seeded Weber State in the quarterfinals tomorrow.

Report: Seahawks' Irvin To Sign With Raiders

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks may be losing linebacker Bruce Irvin to free agency.  NFL Media's Ian Rapoport is citing a source in reporting the Oakland Raiders will sign Irvin today when the free-agency period begins.  Irvin said in January he would consider a "hometown discount" to stay with Seattle.  He was the Seahawks' first pick in the 2012 draft, and he set a franchise rookie record that season with eight sacks.

Ducks' Brooks, Cook Named First Team All-Pac-12

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon's Dillion Brooks and Elgin Cook are being named first-team All-Pac-12.  Freshman Tyler Dorsey was named to the conference's all-freshman team while senior Chris Boucher was named to the all-defensive team.  Brooks led UO in scoring at 16.7 points per game while grabbing 5.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
 

Oregon Moves Up Rankings

(Eugene, OR)  --  University of Oregon is moving up the college basketball rankings.   The Ducks are up one spot to ninth in the latest "USA Today" Top 25 Coaches' Poll.  UO earned the top seed in the Pac-12 Tournament and await the winner of Stanford and Washington in the quarterfinals at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas.

OSU Meets Arizona State In Tournament Tomorrow

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  Oregon State meets Arizona State in the opening round of the Pac-12 Tournament tomorrow.  The Beavers have won three of their last four games to improve to 18-and-11 overall.  The Sun Devils beat OSU earlier in the season in Arizona 86-68.

Seahawks Strike 3-year Deal With DT Rubin

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seattle Seahawks say they've agreed to a three-year deal with defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin.  Rubin, who played seven seasons for Cleveland before joining the Seahawks in 2015, was set to become a free agent after starting all 16 regular-season games for Seattle last year.  He recorded 36 tackles, two sacks, and an interception.  Terms of the new deal haven't been released.

Pistons Pull Away From Blazers

(Detroit, MI) -- Damian Lillard put up 26 points, but couldn't stop the Pistons from pushing past the Trail Blazers, 123-103, at The Palace of Auburn Hills.  C.J. McCollum added 22 points for Portland, which dropped its third straight to close out a six-game road trip. They look to get back on track tomorrow against the Wizards at home.

Ducks Claim Pac-12 Regular-Season Title

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Oregon claimed its first Pac-12 title since 2002 Saturday with a 76-66 win over USC at the Galen Center.  Elgin Cook posted 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Tyler Dorsey led all scorers with 19 points.  Oregon won its final five games to finish 14-and-4 in conference play.  They await the winner of Stanford and Washington in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 tournament Thursday at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Beavers Best UCLA

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Stephen Thompson Junior led all scorers with 23 points to help the Beavers take down UCLA, 86-82, at Pauley Pavilion.  Gary Payton the Third and Olaf Schaftenaar each added 17 points as Oregon State picked up its third win in four games to end its regular season schedule.  They get Arizona State in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament Wednesday at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Timbers Clip Columbus In Season Opener

(Portland, OR) -- Fanendo Adi netted the game-winning goal in the 79th minute to lift the Timbers over the Columbus Crew, 2-1, in their MLS opener at Providence Park.  Diego Valeri got the scoring started in the 24th minute.  The defending champion Timbers play San Jose on the road on Sunday.

Timbers Start Season With 2-1 Win

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers are off to a good start in defending their MLS title, picking up a 2-1 win over Columbus at Providence Park.  Diego Valeri scored in the first half and Fanendo Adi scored in the second, to keep the Timbers undefeated in season openers since their first MLS season in 2011.  Portland is now on a ten-game unbeaten streak.  The Timbers will visit San Jose next Sunday.

College baseball

The third week of college preseason baseball takes to the diamond tonight as 4th ranked Oregon State, 7-and-1, plays at the University of San Diego.

 

The 6-and-1 Oregon Ducks host U.C. Santa Barbara. The Ducks are ranked 9th nationally.

Men's Basketball

The PAC-12 mens regular season comes to a close tomorrow and the league champion and 9th ranked Oregon Ducks play at USC on KBND at 1:00 p.m. We’ll have the pregame show for you at 12:30 p.m.

Oregon is shooting for its 25th win of the season against 6 losses.  The Ducks earn a first round league tourney bye next Wednesday and will play Thursday.

At 3:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon, the Oregon State Beavers essentially are in a ‘play-in’ game at UCLA.  

With a win the Beavers could earn a berth in the NCAA tournament.

OSU’s record is 17-11 overall and tied for 8th place with Stanford.  
 

PAC-12 Womens tourney

8 teams remain to win the PAC-12 women’s basketball tournament championship in Seattle after yesterday’s first round saw 2 top seeds eliminated.

The 6-seed Oregon ducks fell to 11th seed Arizona, 74-68 while number-7 Utah was defeated by Cal, the ten seed, 66-63.

Today, Arizona meets UCLA and ASU takes on Cal.

The evening session begins at 6pm with 7th ranked Oregon state getting a rematch with USC who knocked the Beavers out of the tourney last spring.

The winner of OSU and USC will face the winner of Stanford and Washington.

The tournament championship game is set for Sunday at 6pm on ESPN-tv.

The men’s tournament tips off next Wednesday in Las Vegas.
 

Blazers Battle Raptors

(Toronto, Ontario)  --  The Trail Blazers take on the Raptors tonight in Toronto.  Portland's six-game road winning streak came to an end with a 116-93 loss to the Celtics Wednesday.  The Blazers enter tonight's game 33-and-29 on the season.

Report: Kearse Doesn't Plan To Return To Seahawks

(Renton, WA)  --  Wide receiver Jerome Kearse is reportedly saying he doesn't plan to return to the Seattle Seahawks for the 2016 season.  Kearse, who's an unrestricted free agent, told ESPN's Adam Schefter in January he wouldn't accept a "hometown discount" to remain in Seattle.  Schefter tweeted yesterday that Kearse is "looking forward to finding a new home."  Kearse, who played at Lakes High School and the University of Washington, was signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2012.

Blazers' Winning Streak Snapped

(Boston, MA)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers will try to get back on the winning track tomorrow night, after losing last night to the Celtics in Boston, 116-93.  Damian Lillard's 20 points led Portland in their first loss following a three-game winning streak.  C.J. McCollum added 17 points.  The Blazers will visit Toronto tomorrow night.

PAC-12 Basketball results

The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team defeated UCLA last night in Westwood, 76-68 to capture the PAC-12 regular season championship and the #1 seed in the league tournament next week in Las Vegas.

The 9th ranked Ducks own a 13-4 league mark, and are 24-6 overall with one league game to go. Its Oregon’s first league crown since 2002 and the fifth in school history. The Ducks will get a first round bye in the league tournament along with the other top-3 teams in the PAC-12.  Oregon closes out the regular season Saturday at USC and here on KBND at 12:30 p.m.

Meantime….it was all USC last night in Los Angeles as the Trojans routed the Beavers, 81-70.

Elsewhere, Washington routed Washington state, 99-91

Tonight, 18th ranked Arizona hosts Cal and Arizona State entertains Stanford.

The women’s PAC-12 tournament tips off today in Seattle at Key Arena with 4 games, including the Oregon women facing Arizona at 2pm.  The winner meets UCLA Friday.

The 7th ranked and PAC-12 league champion Beavers will meet the winner of USC vs. Washington State in Friday’s quarterfinals at 6:00 p.m.
 

Prep Basketball

The 5th ranked Summit Storm boy’s hoop team defeated Putnam last night, 79-70 to advance to the state playoffs where the Storm will host Lebanon Saturday night in the first round.

Second ranked Mt. View, the IMC league champions, will host south Albany Saturday evening.

Cougars head coach Brian Broaddus was named IMC coach of the year, while senior guard Davis Holly was tabbed as the Player of the Year.

Blazers Trounce Knicks; At Boston Tonight

(New York, NY)  --  Damian Lillard blew up for 30 points and six assists as the Trail Blazers rocked the Knicks, 104-85, at Madison Square Garden.  Portland outscored New York by 11 in the second half.  C.J. McCollum added 25 for Portland, which is 14-and-2 in its last 16 games.  The Blazers visit the Boston Celtics tonight.

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen the second wealthiest owner in sports.  Forbes Magazine ranks Allen only behind Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, who is worth 23.5-billion-dollars.  Allen is worth an estimated 17.5-billion.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Oregon and Oregon State are well represented on the women's basketball Pac-12 Conference teams.  Ducks' Jillian Alleyne was All Pac-12, while Beavers' Ruth Hamblin, Jamie Weisner and Sydney Wiese earned the honor.  UO's Maite Cazorla was on the All-Freshman Team.  Alleyne and Hamblin were on the All-Defensive Team.
